Lee Byung-hun in G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra.

Actor Lee Byung-hun is proving his bankability as an international movie star. The Seoul native has landed another Hollywood role!

According to media sources, Lee has been chosen for the role of Billy Rocks in the remake of the 1960s western The Magnificent Seven.

The original movie revolved around a group of seven assassins who protected a Mexican town from outlaws. However, reports have surfaced that the remake will centre around a mining town that has been taken over by a gold baron.

The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua who helmed Olympus Has Fallen and last year’s blockbuster, The Equalizer.

The South Korean actor is slated to work alongside Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio, just to name a few.

This will be Lee’s fifth Hollywood project. He starred in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and its sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation, RED 2 and the upcoming summer movie, Terminator Genisys.

The secret relocation was reported Tuesday by a local news reporter, who claimed to have read a certified copy of the real estate register.

The report cited a real estate agent, who said that Lee and his family had already moved into their new high-security residence.

Lee's new home is said to be in a popular area among stars, strategically located for ease of transportation and known for its airtight security, according to the report.

Lee married actress Lee Min-jung, who was a celebrated star in her own right, in 2013 and welcomed their first child, a son, on March 31.

Lee Byung-hun recently flew to the U.S. ahead of his filming schedule for an upcoming Hollywood remake of the western film "The Magnificent Seven." Another Hollywood film starring the actor, "Terminator Genisys" is scheduled for release this July.

Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung move into Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young’s former luxury home

Source: Koreaboo

Jang-Go-Couple-Lee-Couple.jpg

Despite all the twists and turns this couple has been through within the last year, actor Lee Byung Hun and actress Lee Min Jung have recently moved into a home that was previously owned by celebrity couple Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young.

On May 19th, K STAR: Hallyu Reports revealed that Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung recently moved into the luxury homes located in Samsungdong, Seoul with their newborn son after obtaining a certified copy of their real estate registrar.

K STAR reported that the couple signed a 2.5 billion Korean Won (approximately 2.3 million U.S. Dollars) lease for the luxury villa on April 28th and have moved into the home not long after. It was also revealed that the Lee’s new home was actually previously leased by actor and actress Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young and their two young children.

A real estate specialist explained to the publication agency that, “Many celebrities favor this ‘S’ luxury villa located in Samsungdong, Seoul because of its easy-access location to the major transportation point in the city and for its impenetrable home security system.”

In response to this news, Lee Byung Hun’s agency BH Entertainment stated to different media portal, “Due to the infant care of their newborn child and also other scheduling conflicts, the couple decided to make a move to a new home. But most importantly, they chose to move [to this home location] because it is close to Lee Min Jung’s parents’ home.”

The agency, however, was unsure of whether of not the Lee’s were aware of their new home being previously tenanted by a celebrity couple, “We cannot be certain if they had prior knowledge about the home being previously lived-in by Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young while they were looking into leasing this villa.”

'Terminator Genisys' Teaser Trailer: 3 Things To Look Forward To Before July 1 Release

By Monica Castillo @mcastimovies International Business Times

He said he’d be back. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the role that made him a star in the latest installation of the “Terminator” series.  In the new trailer for “Terminator Genisys,” he’s not only back, he’s bringing the action against his past Terminator model.

In “Terminator Genisys,”  Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is thrown back in time to join forces with Schwarzenegger’s Terminator and protect Sarah Conner (Emilia Clarke) in her training to survive and ensure the future existence of her son, John Connor (Jason Clarke). An adult John Conner must stop the dreaded GENISYS program from going online and bringing about Judgement Day for the human race.

Here’s three moments from the new teaser trailer you can’t miss:

1. Schwarzenegger v. Schwarzenegger

This new trailer wastes no time getting straight to the action. Within the first few seconds of “Genisys,” current-day Arnold goes head-to-head with the (CGI) old school Schwarzenegger from the original “Terminator” movie from James Cameron. Unfortunately, it does not show if “Terminator 5” holds to the originals au naturale big screen debut.

2. Scary Liquid Terminator Is Back

Starting with 1991’s “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” and never leaving our collective nightmares since, the T-1000 is the advance model of Schwarzenegger’s Terminator T-800. It’s malleable liquid form allows it to create whatever shape and weapon it needs, and at the :22 second mark, that means arms in the shape of blades. Run, Sarah Connor, run!

3. Explosions Guaranteed

Being that star Schwarzenegger is offering fans a chance to blow things up with him as a film tie-in promotion, the last five seconds of the trailer also reflect the filmmakers’ enthusiasm for things that go “boom!”

Lee Byung Hun And Lee Min Jung Have A Beautiful New Home

BY Adrienne Stanley | KDramaStars.com

The May 24 episode of "Section TV" highlighted the luxurious new residence of Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung. The couple, who returned to Korea to deliver their baby, are residing in the Samseong-dong area of Seoul.

According to the report by "Section TV," they are living in a luxury apartment whose retail price ranges from $3.6 to $4.5 million USD. The segment provided small snapshots of their new home, along with statistics outlining the property.
The tour of the apartment followed a May 18 report which stated that the Lee family had moved into the home that was previously occupied by Jang Dong Gun (No Tears for the Dead, A Gentleman's Dignity) and his wife, actress Go So Young.

BH Entertainment provided a statement about the couple's recent move to Newsen. "Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung chose their residence because it is in a convenient location," said a representative for BH Entertainment. The report also outlined the proximity of their apartment to her family and their frequent travel schedule.

Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung returned to Korea in February 2015, following a period where they had relocated to California. The couple remained away from Korea for 3 months of Lee Min Jung's pregnancy.

In September 2014, the 44-year-old actor was shrouded in controversy when he became the subject of a blackmail scandal involving former GLAM member Dahee and Lee Ji Yeon. He was allegedly blackmailed by the K-pop idol and model for large sums of money, in order to prevent the leak of a video where the film star was alleged to make inappropriate comments. He issued an apology to his family, following the sentencing of the two women.

On March 2015, his wife gave birth to their first child, following 3 years of marriage.

While the couple has returned to Korea, they maintain a busy travel schedule. Lee Byung Hun is one of few Korean actors who has successfully transitioned to acting in Hollywood productions. He stars as T-1000 in the upcoming science fiction release "Terminator Genisys" and the pre-production film, "The Magnificent Seven."

The Terminator Genisys Poster Shouldn't Cause Diplomacy Problems

by Brian Ashcraft Kotaku

In South Korea, several major media outlets have pointed out the same thing: the Japanese Terminator Genisys poster does not feature Korean actor Byung-hun Lee.

Below, you can see the newly revealed Japanese poster:

image_readtop_2015_503357_14326835861947

No Byung-hun Lee.

Via The Korea Times, the country’s oldest English language newspaper, here’s how this is being reported in an article titled “Japanese Terminator poster leaves out Korean actor”:

A Japanese poster for the upcoming Hollywood action blockbuster “Terminator: Genisys” has omitted Korean actor Byung-hun Lee, who has a supporting role in the film.

The poster shows the main cast, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney — but not Lee, who plays a terminator cyborg T-1000.

Why Japan has omitted Lee is a mystery. In 2013, Japan featured him on a poster for the Hollywood action movie “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” in which the actor, 44, played ninja bodyguard Storm Shadow. Lee and American action star Bruce Willis were on the poster...
Similar stories have appeared on numerous Korean news sites, such as Movie Daum, Stoo.com, Segye and more, which mention the “curiosity” and “disappointment” that Lee isn’t included on the Japanese poster.

I guess the implication is that Lee isn’t being featured because of South Korean and Japan’s rocky relationship?

But...the actor doesn’t appear on the official international poster:

What’s more, many the posters in the U.S. and abroad don’t feature Lee:

This art doesn’t even features Schwarzenegger.

There is a T-1000 character poster in the U.S. that features Lee, but he doesn’t seem to appear in any group shots for posters released in the U.S. and abroad.

Here is said character poster for the U.S. (Note that Japan hasn’t gotten any character posters yet.)

As The Korea Times points out, Lee was featured on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation poster in Japan in 2013. But that wasn’t a great year for relations between the two countries, because that year saw headlines like “Bad Feelings Dominate Japan-South Korea Public Sentiment” and “A Growing Chill Between South Korea and Japan Creates Problems for the U.S.”

Lee, who previously starred in the Japanese video game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, appeared on several Japanese movie posters that same year—G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Red 2. These were the last two Hollywood films Lee did prior to the new Terminator.

Below, you can see how Japan’s Red 2 poster (top left) stacks up to the other international versions in its depiction of Lee.

For both posters, Lee was featured on the international versions.

Yes, there’s tension between South Korea and Japan, but honestly, the Korean media latching onto stories like this isn’t doing anything to help mend those tensions, especially when Byung-hun Lee doesn’t appear on the Korean poster, either. Talk about curious and disappointing.

So, this is the Korea Times report that sparked Kotaku's lengthy response article. Funny how the article was not highlighted much by the Korea Times, not even on its mainpage. Anyway, considering the current Korean media and public sentiment on LBH due to his scandal whatnots, isn't this all just much ado about nothing.

It remains to be seen if the Korean poster will actually feature the Korean actor or citing the original international that did not feature LBH. It's doubtful it'll happen when Lotte Ent have not shown that it had been supportive of the actor especially now

"Terminator: Genisys," the fifth installment of the Terminator series that began in 1984, is directed by Alan Taylor, who helmed Hollywood action movie "Thor: The Dark World" (2013), the American global-hit TV series "Game of Thrones" during 2011 and "Mad Men" in 2007.

Japanese 'Terminator Genysis' Poster Offends Korean Community for Leaving Out Byung-Hun Lee

South Korea complained about how Japan's new "Terminator Genisys" poster doesn't feature famous South Korean actor Byung-Hun Lee

By Christopher Hutton | HNGN

Korean newspapers are currently complaining about how the Japanese poster for "Terminator Genysis" doesn't feature Korean actor Byung-Hun Lee.

Paramount recently released a new poster for the upcoming entry in the "Terminator" series. While the poster is well-designed and reflects the film's interest, it is lacking one thing: the film's core Korean actor.

Korean English language newspaper The Korean Times reported reported the following:

A Japanese poster for the upcoming Hollywood action blockbuster "Terminator: Genisys" has omitted Korean actor Byung-hun Lee, who has a supporting role in the film.

The poster shows the main cast, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney - but not Lee, who plays a terminator cyborg T-1000.

Why Japan has omitted Lee is a mystery. In 2013, Japan featured him on a poster for the Hollywood action movie "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," in which the actor, 44, played ninja bodyguard Storm Shadow. Lee and American action star Bruce Willis were on the poster...

While this sounds like a valid critique (especially since he plays the T-1000, a key villain in the film), Kotaku notes that this complaint is inaccurate, especially when one considers that most of the "Terminator Genisys" posters don't feature Mr. Lee.

Why is the South Korean media hooking onto this story, then? Kotaku suspects that the poster is reflective of current national tension between South Korea and Japan. "Yes, there's tension between South Korea and Japan, but honestly, the Korean media latching onto stories like this isn't doing anything to help mend those tensions, especially when Byung-hun Lee doesn't appear on the Korean poster, either. Talk about curious and disappointing."

"Terminator Genisys" will arrive in U.S. theatres on July 1.

'Terminator: Genisys' T5 Japanese Poster Not Featuring Byung-hun Lee Causes Diplomatic Controversy In Korea

Katia Kleyman , Design & Trend

terminator-genisys-poster.jpg?w=780
(Photo : Facebook/ Arnold Schwarzenegger) A recent "Terminator Genisys" poster in Japan did not feature co-star and Korean actor Byung-hun Lee, which caused a diplomatic controversy.

According to Kotaku, a Japanese version of a "Terminator Genisys" poster caused a little bit of a stir in South Korea.

The poster, which is featured on the Kotaku website includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke. However, it is missing Korean actor Byung-hun Lee, who plays the Terminator T-1000, or the liquid-like Terminator in the upcoming movie.

The Korea Times, which is the oldest English language newspaper in the country, reported on Byung-hun Lee's absence and wondered why Japan did not have him on the poster, but had him featured on the poster for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," where Lee acted alongside Bruce Willis as a ninja bodyguard called Storm Shadow.

Kotaku reported that several other Korean newspaper outlets have also written up stories on why Lee was not featured in the Japanese poster. Many of these reports indicating "disappointment" over the fact that he wasn't featured.

Some papers had even equated Lee's absence with the unsteady diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan.

But it is unlikely that Japan wanted to deliberately jab at South Korea by not including Lee on the poster, because Lee is not included in the international poster for "Terminator Genisys" either. Nor is he included in many of the U.S. posters for the film.

Kotaku points out that Lee is featured in one U.S. T-1000 character poster for the film, but he doesn't make an appearance in any of the group shots.

It just seems that Lee is not enough of a major character in "Terminator Genisys" to make it on the poster. The Kotaku report also points out that Lee did not even make it on the Korean version of the poster!

It seems that the South Korean media is just looking to stir up controversy where there really isn't any.

"Yes, there's tension between South Korea and Japan, but honestly, the Korean media latching onto stories like this isn't doing anything to help mend those tensions, especially when Byung-hun Lee doesn't spear on the Korean poster, either. Talk about curious and disappointing," the report read.

"Terminator Genisys" will be in theaters July 1.
