dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

How time flies! It feels like the start of summer was only yesterday, but “If You Wish Upon Me” has already come to an end. Fear not though! Here are a few similar dramas lined up with healing, a minor dash of heartache, and as always, a whole lot of love!

1. “It’s Okay, That’s Love”

its-okay-thats-love-1.jpg

Jang Jae Yeol (Jo In Sung) wears many hats. As a mystery writer, a DJ, and a celebrity, he has his way with life and women. But few know of the traumatic childhood that has shaped him into who he has become. When younger, Jae Yeol was assaulted by his father and witnessed his murder. The trauma from the event has resulted in him developing Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) among other conditions. But even he doesn’t realize the depth of his trauma until he meets Ji Hae Soo (Gong Hyo Jin), a psychiatrist who fears love and intimacy due to deep-seated childhood issues. Together, along with Park Soo Kwang (Lee Kwang Soo), who has Tourette’s Syndrome, Jo Dong Min (Sung Dong Il), and Han Gang Woo (D.O.), a troubled high school student, they cohabit, grow, and heal together.

But the truth of the murder of Jae Yeol’s father lurks in the background, promising to resurface. And when it does, Jae Yeol may find that the state of his mind is far worse than he ever could have imagined.

Why you’ll love it: Jae Yeol and Hae Soo have their ups and downs, but their relationship’s progression and healing journey are a delight to witness, and they’re pretty cute together!

@syntyche  thanks for sharing the video. JIS is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. I read about this volunteer work last month (November) & I also read that (68) people who worked in the entertainment industry were in attendance, and among them was Jo In Sung. Despite his busy schedule, he took the time to convey warmth to those less fortunate. As far as I remember, he also visited the same place last year to participate in the briquette-sharing service for the residents. He did this quietly. He didn't hesitate to meet commoners to help out.   :heart4:

*** Actor Lee Kyu-hyung shared how amazing Jo In Sung was back when they attended university together during January 11th episode of KBS' television show 'Problem Child in House', where he made a guest appearance. They majored in Theater at Dongguk University. Lee Kyu-hyung said, "I majored in Theater and In Sung was a Theater major too. We were in the same year. He used to take great care of all Theater students. At that time, he was already big in the industry. Every time we used to go out to eat or drink, he would pay for it, even at those times when we went in large groups. A lot of guys went to the military at that time, including myself, and he would buy us something to eat on our day-offs as well."  He stated that they once tried to pay for it, because Jo In Sung always paid, but he would just not let them pay. Lee Kyu-hyung commented, "When we told him that we were going to pay, he was like, 'No, that's nonsense. Don't say things like that to me!', then he said something to us which I still can't forget. "Hey, the only thing I got is money. But, he said it in a playful way though, not seriously or anything. Anyway, he's an incredible guy."  :kaching3:

Ryoo Seung-wan, Kim Hye-soo, Yeom Jeong-ah, Jo In-seong's 'Smuggling' confirmed for summer release

Director Ryoo Seung-wan's 'Smuggling' has confirmed its summer theatrical release.

Director Ryoo Seung-wan, who made a comeback in 4 years with "Mogadishu" in 2021 and swept both critics and box office hits and breathed new vitality into theaters after the pandemic hit, returns with his new work "Smuggling."

'Smuggling' is a maritime crime drama about people who get caught up in smuggling on a peaceful beach.

spacer.png

The poster, which was released along with the news of the summer release, contains the unique silhouettes of Kim Hye-soo and Yum Jung-ah, whom we met for the first time in the history of filmography. Here, the appearance of actors who have become a fresh combination with only their names, including Kim Hye-soo, Yeom Jeong-ah, Jo In-seong, Park Jung-min, Kim Jong-soo, and Go Min-si, is predicted to add to the anticipation. In particular, with the exception of Jo In-seong from 'Mogadishu', all the actors working together with director Ryoo Seung-wan for the first time raise expectations for a fresh synergy between them.

spacer.png

In the launching trailer released together, it evokes trust in director Ryoo Seung-wan's work, as well as a cool sensibility unique to summer movies in the background of going back and forth between the sea and the city. In particular, the crime genre of director Ryu Seung-wan, who returned after a long time since 'Veteran', meets with new casts such as Kim Hye-soo, Yeom Jeong-ah, Jo In-seong, Park Jung-min, Kim Jong-soo, and Go Min-si, raising expectations for what color they will unfold.

'Smuggling' is a theatrical release that is once again presented by well-made production company Oeyun Naegang Co., Ltd., which has always provided satisfaction to summer audiences, from 'Veteran' in 2015, 'Battleship Island' in 2017, 'Exit' in 2019, and 'Mogadishu' in 2021. It is expected to give a thrilling pleasure to the audience at the theater in the summer.

@syntyche  thanks for sharing this. I hope this drama will do well. I was hoping that it will go to Netflix because for me, Disney+ despite getting some promising K-dramas in the last (2) years still has a long way to go compared to Netflix in terms of international access to K-dramas on streaming. Even Viki is bigger than Disney+ on this. I guess this drama will stream solely on Disney+, so I hope it will have a chance to breakout. Well, anything can happen. It's just that Disney+ has limited availability. Wait & see...........
