K-Dramas That Gave Actors Their Big Break

All it takes is one killer role for an actor to become a Hallyu star and secure his position in the Korean entertainment industry. A lot of actors go unnoticed and struggle for many years before they make their big break-out role. Here’s to all those actors who worked hard to make a name for themselves (and continue to work hard). Check out our list of K-dramas that boosted actors into the spotlight!

It feels like just yesterday when we saw Jo In Sung play Kang In Wook in the tragic melodrama, “What Happened in Bali.” He portrayed the tragedy of his character and his unrequited love so well that it’s no wonder Kang In Wook became his big breakthrough role!

9 Perfect K-Dramas To Watch During The Holiday Season

‘Tis the season to hole up indoors, hide away from the cold and snow, and delve into some escapism. Gather all the snacks and festive hot drinks and wrap yourself in a blanket, ’cause we’ve got dramas for days that are just perfect for the holidays.

That Winter, The Wind Blows

winter-the-wind-blows1.jpg

Just look at the drama, the tension, the feels! Also, all the snow and the winter and stuff. “That Winter, The Wind Blows” follows Oh Soo (played by Jo In Sung) as he essentially tries to scam a blind woman (played by Song Hye Kyo), pretending to be her brother who he knows has died, all the while kind of falling in love with her? But listen, it’s super romantic. This isn’t your average drama, the plot is a little messed up, and it doesn’t get much better as it progresses, but it’s wild, it’s intense, the performances are gripping, and the uncomfortable relationship between the two leads makes for avid viewing. There are also plenty of great scarves.

In addition, the local UN agency World Food Programme (WFP) sought help for gas burner support due to an urgent fuel problem. In line with it, 100,000 gas burners were ordered and the donation was rolled out on January 22.

The gas burners will help 500,000 refugees to fight malnutrition through complete preparation of food.

“I was worried about children’s faces if they look depressed or dark, but I’m glad they look brighter than I thought,” Jo In Sung warmly said.

Furthermore, writer Noh Hee Kyung added,” Without the help of relief organizations, the refugee community would have been a disaster. I felt how important it is to continuously support and care.”

Jo and Noh had another life-affirming moment on the day when the WFP visited the Learning Center, a school program run by the United Nations’ refugee camp. The two handed out biscuits containing nutrients to children.

Additionally, Venerable Pomnyun said “If children in India go to the forest alone, girls are at greater risk of being exposed to sexual harassment. We agreed to the project just because there is such a risk here as well.”

This is not the first time Jo In Sung joined Venerable Pomnyun in his advocacies. The actor was also spotted last year in China with a group of tourist together with actress Bae Jong Ok and Noh Hee Kyung.

Go Ara Shares Her Love For Jo In Sung And Hopes To Work With Him Someday

Feb 3, 2019
by C. Hong

On the February 3 episode of SBS’s “Running Man,” the cast of the upcoming drama “Haechi” appeared as guests.

During the episode, Go Ara was asked what kind of drama genre she would like to try. “I want to do a melodrama,” she replied shyly. When the cast wondered if she hadn’t already done a melodrama before, she added, “A passionate melodrama.”

Then suddenly she added, “I’m a fan of Jo In Sung. If I do a melodrama, I want to do it with Jo In Sung.”

Yoo Jae Suk then joked that Jung Il Woo (who plays her love interest in “Haechi”) must be feeling disappointed.

During Jung Il Woo’s brief interview, he was momentarily speechless when Yoo Jae Suk asked him to describe Go Ara in three words. Yoo Jae Suk then asked Go Ara to describe Jung Il Woo in the same way and she said, “He is cool.” He then prompted her with, “What about Jo In Sung?” and she replied, “I love you.”

Go Ara confesses she is a huge fan of actor Jo In Sung on 'Running Man'

Go Ara proved to be a big fan of actor Jo In Sung during her appearance on a recent episode of variety program 'Running Man.'

On the show's February 3 special, the stars of the upcoming SBS drama 'Haechi' - Go Ara, Jung Il Woo, Kwon Yool, and Park Hoon - appeared as guests.

During the episode, Yoo Jae Suk mentioned that Go Ara has been acting for 17 years now. Then he asked her if there were any types of roles that she wants to try that she has not yet.

"I want to do a melodrama soon," she began. Her words surprised the rest of the cast, as most had assumed she had done one by now.

"A passionate melodrama!" she clarified with a flustered smile. "I'm a fan of Jo In Sung oppa. I want to do a melodrama with Jo In Sung."

Her comment caused Yoo Jae Suk to tease her, as she was in the middle of promoting a drama where she has a romantic line with Jung Il Woo, and there she was talking about how she wants to film a passionate drama with Jo In Sung.

"'Running Man' is also as passionate melodrama," he joked, while making a playful gesture to his 'Running Man' castmates Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook, who immediately denied his claim.

10 K-Drama Male Characters We Wouldn’t Actually Date IRL

When you watch a K-drama, it really takes no effort at all to fall in love with the male character. They’re (most of the time) handsome, charming, and know how to woo the main female character, which in turn, woos us. It’s easy to get caught up in the fictitious world of love triangles, back hugs, and epic confessions or proposals, but are these characters actually dating material in real life? Here’s a look at 10 male characters who would be pretty difficult to actually date in real life.

Disclaimer: I loved each and every one of these K-dramas despite the opinions on this feature.

Warning: spoilers for dramas below.

“That Winter, the Wind Blows” – Oh Soo

Now, here’s a guy we want to stay away from. Oh Soo (Jo In Sung) is a con artist who you definitely don’t want to date, let alone fall in love with. Oh Soo devises a plan in which he takes advantage of Oh Young (Song Hye Kyo) and her blindness to get a lot of money from her. Calling him a jerk is kind of an understatement.

jo-in-sung1.gif

He ends up pretending to be Oh Young’s long-lost brother and manipulates her into thinking he actually cares about her. Before you know it, he falls in love with her. But at this point, it’s hard for him to get any sort of sympathy because of his conniving ways. Even though he looks all cool and really does end up falling in love with Oh Young, it’s really hard to look past all the lies and deceiving he’s capable of doing!

10 Older Romance K-Dramas That You Need To See

It feels like just yesterday I was watching these K-dramas as a kid, which are now referred to as “older K-dramas.”

It’s easy to get excited and sucked into the dramatic world of K-dramas these days, but there are lots of K-dramas from way back when that can be thoroughly enjoyed today. Here’s a look at 10 of those older K-dramas that you should definitely give a watch!

What Happened in Bali

what-happened-in-bali.jpg

If you’re into super dramatic K-dramas, it’s guaranteed that nothing will top this one. “What Happened in Bali” stars Ha Ji Won, So Ji Sub, and Jo In Sung. It’s an obviously impressive cast and enough of a reason to watch the series, but the story will also have you sucked in.

Ha Ji Won plays Soo Jung, a poor travel agent who is working in Bali trying to make ends meet. She meets Kang In Wook (So Ji Sub) and Jung Jae Min (Jo In Sung) in Bali, and the three get entangled in a serious love triangle. This love triangle is not the type of love triangle that we’re used to today. It’s entwined with passion, seething jealousy, hate, obsession, and mental instability. It’s really a dramatic series that is guaranteed to stick in your mind for years to come.
