do you guys like it?

this is what it looks like

i love this stuff... i like it with things like noodles, rice, kimbap, etc...

OR EVEN BY ITSELF!

anybody have a good recipe for them?

i know that i can search online,

but i'd prefer trying something that others here have tried.

i live in a predominantly white area,

so it's weird 'cause i know there are other asians,

but it's once in a blue moon whenever i see another one.

it's a good thing that i live next to a city full of asians...

'cause i'm just not used to this.

so yeah... i'd have to drive at least 20 min. to get to an asian market (viet or whatever)

half an hr for a japanese one

and 40 minutes for the korean ones...

I've seen those sold in the stores and at take-away places! The take-away ones were half wrapped in the fermented tofu skin. It's nice with sesame seeds.

I love it. My mom always hides it from me at the dinner table because I eat it alone, and usually end up eating all of it.

I eat it more than I eat rice! haha..

hrm.. so I usually make it myself. Cos i eat so much of it..

you need seasweed of course. You can buy it salted in a bag from korean/some chinese groceries.

some vinegar. I use Apple vinegar.

some raw sugar

some chilli powder

some sesame seeds if desired

sesame oil

1. wash seaweed and leave it in water for about 30min to get rid of saltyness.

2. add vinegar

3. add sugar

4. add a little chilli power - just for a hint of spice

5. sesame seeds

6. ALWAYS LAST.. add the sesame oil, not too much. Enough for you to taste a little of it.

you pretty much have to experiment with how much of everything you put in. Everyone has their own taste.

you can also add some shredded radish... or carrot.
