South Korean singer Kim Jaejoong released his second solo Japanese album, Love Covers on Sept 25. As of today (Sept 26), the artiste has reached No.1 on Billboard Japan with 57,812 copies sold.
On the first day of the release too, he hit No 1 on the Japanese Oricon daily album chart with sales of 46,888.
The album is also No. 1 on iTunes J-Pop category in 24 countries including Japan, Thailand, the United States, Britain, Colombia, Singapore and Malaysia.
Love Covers is a cover album of seven classic Japanese love songs such as Hikaru Utada’s First Love and Forget-me-not by Yutaka Ozaki.
Jaejoong obtained permission from the original singers to do his version of the songs, and has been praised by them for his renditions.
The star, who is now using the name J-Jun for his Japanese activities, has been actively promoting the album prior to his release, appearing on Asahi TV’s Music Station.
He has also been on a nonstop streak of activities since restarting his solo career in Japan last year.

Love Covers

Earlier this year, Jaejoong released his first solo Japanese album in April which also hit No 1 on the Oricon weekly album chart.
His first Japanese solo single Sign/Your Love released in June last year saw him receiving a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
It was followed by Defiance/Lavender, released in October, which breached the 100,000 mark within four days of its release, earning him a second Gold RIAJ.

On September 25, Kim Jaejoong (who is now using the stage name J-JUN) released his new Japanese album “Love Covers,” which features covers of seven popular love songs. On the daily album chart of Japan’s largest music statistics site Oricon for September 24, the album took No. 1 with 46,888 estimated sales.

On October 6, the very first Asia Contents Awards (ACA) were held at Dongseo University’s Sohyang Theater in Centum City, Busan.
The Asia Contents Awards celebrate TV dramas from Asian regions like South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the ASEAN countries. The nominees were chosen from dramas that aired within the past five years.
2018’s “Mr. Sunshine” won the Best Creative Award, the top award given at ACA. Chief producer (CP) Kim Yong Gyu accepted the trophy and said, “The Korean drama industry is changing. We are working towards that change. I think that ‘Mr. Sunshine’ is a production that represents that change. If people show it a lot of love, then we can return with an even better production next time.”
Screenwriter Park Hae Young won the Best Writer Award for 2018’s “My Ahjussi.” In her acceptance speech, she said, “I think that the drama was able to get good reviews because the director, actors, and production staff brought the script to life.”
Kim Nam Gil won one of the Best Actor Awards for his work in 2019’s “The Fiery Priest.” He said, “There are many people from all over Asia here, and people who represent the Korean film and TV industries. Rather than thinking of this award as something that shows how good I am, I’m just happy to be accepting an award at a ceremony like the Asia Contents Awards, which celebrates harmony in the middle of a society that focuses on individualism.”
Kim Jaejoong won the Excellence Award and said, “I am sincerely honored to have won this award at the first Asia Contents Awards. Please enjoy your time in Busan and I hope that the Busan International Film Festival will receive more love in the future.”
