Vietnamese reporters didn’t agree… Jaejoong is still young
At the press conference which took place at Nikko hotel before the Fanmeeting, there’s quite an interesting Q-A session between Jaejoong and Vietnamese reporters. There was one particular question which was: “When will you get married?”. After listing so many reasons why he has yet married (the fact is that he had that intention when he was young but not now), Jaejoong said to reporters he thought he was still young, “just 27 years old”, therefore the fact that he’s still single isn’t weird, right? At that moment, almost all reporters reponded at the same time “No”, which made Jaejoong nearly lay down the table due to embarrassment.

After having arrived in Vietnam on 9th October, this Hallyu star relaxed at the hotel and… adventurously went to hotel’s restaurant to have dinner at night. It was quite strange that at that night, although many Vietnamese fans and international fans have checked in this 5 star hotel and continuously took the corner, they and even Vietnamese paparazzi couldn’t identify when Jaejoong had dinner at this hotel’s restaurant – a public place. That was also one of the two times that Jaejoong was eating out because he mostly ate in his room and called ‘PHỞ’ and Japanese sushi twice a day. Phở which is serviced at this hotel reached the prize of 250.000 VNĐ with a super big bowl. Maybe that was the reason why Jaejoong said his face seemed to swell up when eating “PHỞ” in Vietnam.

In his days in Vietnam, in order to avoiding fans and Vietnamese paparazzi from stalking, Korean staffs arranged a “fake Jaejoong” following Jaejoong to distract attention. Clearly in the night of 9th –10th November, when Jaejoong’s car went into SECC (district 7) for rehearsal, “fake Jaejoong’ appeared first, wearing an green hooded overcoat, immediately fans paid their attention to him and consecutively scream Jaejoong. But after that, a real Jaejoong in a black coat came out and went inside quickly, not many fans and reporters can react in time in this surprising situation, so there’s very little article had close-up pictures of Jaejoong in that night.

Since Vietnamese fans have waited for a long time for Jaejoong’s visit to Vietnam, almost nobody missed chances to buy tickets of his fanmeeting on 10th November. There were quite a lot of special fans appearing in the fanmeeting, such as a disabled-handed girl (who was very lucky to go onstage and was fed by Jaejoong ), a little girl followed by her dad so that it was easier for her to be taken care of, another disabled girl who came with mom and sister (then her mother went outside and waited until the end of the fanmeeting), a pregnant woman or even a whole family who were all Jaejoong’s fans. International fans followed Jaejoong from place to place, and so did in Vietnam, there were many fans from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Australia… attending SECC.

Before Jaejoong stepped onto the rehearsal stage, the scene I shook hands with Jaejoong was included in the script but the Korean company wanted to skip it. However, surprisingly, when Jaejoong went on stage, he approached each one of us, bowed and shook hands with everyboby on stage. Jaejoong was not feeling well at that time but he still sang two songs live during reheasal”.

JYJ members Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, and Kim Junsu are each excelling in films, dramas, and in musicals, drawing the attention of the fans and the industry giants alike.

First is the member Kim Jaejoong who has made his big screen debut with the movie ‘Jackal Is Coming’. He has demonstrated in television dramas that he is a more than capable actor and he’s ready to expand his potential into films.

Kim Jaejoong plays an A-list star in the movie and he hasn’t shied away from making himself look ridiculous to make the character come alive. He’s been praised by the industry insiders for his passion and hard work.

# “There is no former Kim Jaejoong”
To the question about his feeling about his first big screen challenge, he came up with a short answer, “I wasn’t nervous.” The reason is that, as he said, he has given out his all to show another charm of himself. Actually, in the movie, Jaejoong didn’t show the dignified image that everybody has seen till now but an honest and attractive image.
“I think I wasn’t really nervous and trembled as I continued filming. I engaged myself in the filming with the thought that I must let go of everything and give out my all. Because my character is really a snob, I had to try very hard to throw away my image.” However, it seems that world star Kim Jaejoong does get nervous in front of the public. Now he’s nervously waiting for the tough reactions from the public. “I actually don’t know much about the commercial movie system. I only concentrated on the filming. But after watching the movie myself, I just get so nervous. Tough reactions may pour out. I’m worried.“

This man has everything that millions of women would fall in love with – fierce eyes, chic tone of voice and sweet appearance. Perhaps this is the reason why Jaejoong Kim has been the most desired target by Sasaeng[stalking people] through his entire career.

Regarding this, he is a rare person even among celebrities. And he challenged the first cinema-debut on the film ‘Code Name: Jackal’ which reflects some incidents that he might have actually experienced in reality. The film is about a kidnapping story of a legendary killer and top star, but the incidents shown on the film attract our eyes as it seems to be something he might have really experienced.

Then how did he feel while he was shooting the film?“Sasaeng? Oh you can say I know all about it. (laugh) The things I actually experienced among the incidents in the film were stalking people and heart-breaking love in the past. The reality is even worse than you could imagine, so I can even say that the stalking-girl in the film is just a cute case. So I enjoyed it! Also the fact that Jihyo Song was cast as a heroin effected me a lot. He had physically hard time because he was working for MBC drama ‘Dr. Jin’ during the same period of the film together. “It left me much to be desired as it was my first film”, added Jaejoong. Nevertheless, he expressed that he was satisfied as the film made him find another side of himself.

He chatted about his personal desire – “I think my face seemed to be too big on the screen!”It seems that he had feeling of thrill and desired at the same time with the word ‘first’, because it gives such a lot of meaning to everyone.

He expressed that thankful things he really appreciated during this journey were his members of JYJ – Yuchun and Junsu who have always stood by him every time he had hard time. He smiled a lot while he was talking about the members with so-called ‘Daddy’s Smile’, saying their friendship became even stronger while they were passing through a lot of difficulties together.

He said that he feels even more proud of the members these days when he sees Yuchun and Junsu doing so great as an actor and solo singer after much meandering.“They are real professionals when they are in own field alone, but there is nothing changed when we are together because we’ve been together for almost 10 years. Especially, even though I’m the oldest, they seem to have grown a lot! (laugh) 

We are busy with individual activities these days, so it’s just so good and full of laugh when we meet together. I don’t know since when, but I tend to give them pecks when I drink. (laugh) Junsu is really adorable and Yuchun is so too. I can’t say how handsome they are.. Well some people become less looking when they grow old, but look how the two boys have grown up so well! I always feel thank for them as well as sorry for.” (Jaejoong)He was just full of smiles as if he think about his lover.

He laughed aloud, saying “What if people become to think I’m gay? On November 21, Jaejoong sat with Star Today for an exclusive interview to promote his new movie, “Jackal Is Coming,” and talked about his past relationship that lasted almost five years.

“A lot of people spend tough times during their trainee days. It was extremely hard for me too, but I had someone that I really liked, someone that I dated. But everything was just too much pressure back then, and we had to part ways,” Jaejoong said.

In fact, in the movie, “Jackal Is Coming,” Jaejoong plays the role of a top Hallyu star that gets kidnapped by a killer hired by his ex-girlfriend. Asked if he ever had a similar experience, Jaejoong said, “Well, when I was young, I dated someone for 4 years and 8 months. But in order to achieve my dreams, I had to move to Seoul, and we ended our relationship. Even after I debuted as DBSK, we kept in touch. But she first told me that it would be better not to keep the relationship any longer.”

He continued, “Honestly, I wanted to remain friends with her, but I don’t think she was able to do that. But she’s someone in my memories so I’ll remember her for the rest of my life.”

Jaejoong also talked about his vocal skills prior to his debut. “When I first passed the audition, my vocal skills weren’t that good. Junsu is the witness,” he said with a smile, “I didn’t have much money so I walked a lot, and sang along the songs on my CD player. I think that helped me become who I am now.”

is the debut movie of JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong (26) but the box office result is not really good. He still has a long way to go. The movie was released on big screen on the 15th and cumulative audience number is 180.000.

However, he is not disappointed and brightly smiles.“It’s sad but it’s OK. You can’t expect too much at your first attempt. Even great actors can fail. I’m still thankful that I could get a foothold in film industry.

Thanks to this movie, I have motivation to keep going with other movies.”Toward his ‘messy’ image in , Kim Jaejoong doesn’t feel burdened or worried. “As many people like the ‘decorated’ image of mine, I did worry that it might hurt their feelings. However, there are also people who like that [messy] image. That’s why I could feel relieved. It’s just that, the tension and the pressure were still there because I’m the main lead.”

“I didn’t think about the box office while filming. Instead, I was worried about how singer-turn-actor Kim Jaejoong can harmonize naturally with other actors/actresses. I also wanted to show that I was taking on a new challenge, just like when I did and .”

I asked him if he has thought about the reason why JYJ is so famous. He said, “You know that we don’t have freedom [to do what we want to do]. We’re trying hard to do what we can within this unfair fence. I think, seeing such unfortunate situation, many more people are willing to help us.

There should have had many ways for us to communicate with our fans but we’re limited. However [thanks to that] we got the concentration because we don’t have any place other than the concert venue. That’s why other people might think that we’re very famous.” (Laugh)

After breaking out of DBSK, their fight with SM Entertainment is still ongoing. Their appearance is blocked on both terrestrial and cable TV. Kim Jaejoong expressed, “I feel like we’re riding a wave of twists and turns.” In the middle of an immense popularity, they had experienced the bottom and then stood up again. “I think those experiences are fruitful.

I’m looking forward to the future of 10 years later.”Aside from music activities, JYJ’s members are expanding into the acting field. Although Kim Jaejoong has set foot in the film industry, it’s regrettable that his popularity is not like other members’.

Does he envy his members? And what advice do the members give to each other?“I don’t envy my members. I’m the type that is severe with myself. If you look at the bigger picture, this process is very helpful to me. Also, we respect and admire each other. So, we don’t give each other advice. We believe in our own abilities. I know that we’re not the type of person that can live comfortably without ambition. ‘Only if I have motivation, I can surely make it!’ I’m trying harder with that thought.” (Laugh)

One more year slips by and he will welcome his 10th debut anniversary. Kim Jaejoong said, “10 years ago, I have thought about 10 years later. Now that 10 years passed by, I think I’m on the path that I want to go.” He burst out laughing by saying jokingly, “I’m glad that, luckily, compared to 10 years ago, Junsu, Yoochun and I haven’t become old men.”

Due to the fact that JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong is starring in «Code Name: Jackal» with Song JiHyo, recently there have been many hoping that he could appear on «Running Man», including Jaejoong himself.

Jaejoong recently expressed in an interview: “Most actors, after their movies are released, can go on entertainment/variety programs to promote. I hope that if given the opportunity, I could appear on «Running Man» with JiHyo noona. When I see the other actors working hard to promote the movie, even doing my portion, I feel very sorry and wish I could do better,” conveying his regret in not being able to appear on broadcasts.

The lawsuit between the three members of JYJ and SM Entertainment remains unresolved and as a result, JYJ are unable to go on major television music programs and variety shows.
