How To Open .sys File Extension

i have downloaded a free ialmnt5.sys over the web, but unfortunately i do not know how to open it.

i read that it can be opened using notepad or word but i cannot read the characters, garbled so to speak.

may i know how to do it, and is it safe to open it?

please help.

There's no reason to open it up and it should not be readable to a human at least in ASCII. I'm not sure why you downloaded it but usually you just use it to replace the original in order to fix some issue. However, please be wary of the source as bad drivers can cause system instability.
