counsel05
hi everyone! i have actually posted a similar topic before and have asked for advise and help. fortunately the problem was fixed for awhile without me doing anything about it. but now, uinfortunately the problem is back. my laptop, a toshiba with windows xp as OS just turns off by itslef whether i have been using it or when its at standby. i have already check my power saver settings and their seems to be no problem with it. but i have noticed one thing though once it happen that after it turned off by itself, after a few minutes it turned on by itself this time and the express media player came out (actually i am not familiar with it) not the same one that i have built in. what seems to be the problem? i hope anybody here can advise me what to do. i am starting to get worried with this recurring problem. thanks a lot in advance. awdark
I don't really suggest taking the laptop apart unless you really know what you're doing. Even then I normally avoid taking laptops apart because its a very tedious process and usually there are tons of screws to deal with. There are times when thats actually necessary like when it gets clogged like the one in the link... but more often than not you can use a can of air to spray in the vents... hopefully loosening the chunks of dust into smaller pieces. Guest HtyPotter
My first guess would be the battery.
