Creative. Although there has been some crap with the Zen Micro, thats just that particular model. I dont suggest iriver because they are Korea based which makes customer service very difficult. Don't bother with Sony.

while the iPod is a lot of things, RELIABLE is not one of them.

yeaup. ALL my friends with Ipod's had to get theirs replaced within a year. From what I see, it's pretty much guaranteed to break down within a year.

Creative is unreliable? TT__TT" I wanted the Creative vision:M. Is that model reliable or not?

iAudio has a 4GB player. Its the new iAudioo 6. It has the new 0.85" HDD. Its so cool check itout at http://eng.iaudio.com/

that is really cool looking B) i'd get that if i didn't already have the X5 which I absolutely love and have had zero problems with. I've even dropped it a couple of times and barely a scratch without it skipping or stopping. ^_^ So for me, it'd recommend iAudio cuz even with my crappy headphones, the sound is still pretty awesome =D

the sony is rather a good mp3 player with 50 hours of batt time (whoa!) and its atrac3 pro compression to add more songs.

ipod sucks. don't listen to wat ipod sellers have to say about this crappy mp3 player. listen to the consumer - like me.

i think it will be between iaudio and iriver-- they are both reliable long term so i've heard so it seems like the best choices..

anyone have any preferences over either company?

iaudio is definitely the way to go.

(and i'm not just saying this because i own one ^^)

compared to other brands like samsung, the sound quality is excellent for iaudio mp3 players.

especially when it comes to filling in the bass

(samsung sounds really treble-y)

i guess that because the sound feels so 'whole' and 'full' when you're listening to mp3s on your iaudio,

they call it "color sound"

-_- oxymoron, yes.

but in a strange way, it makes sense!

ahh.. you'll know what i mean if you owned an iaudio!

ack - I don't want to take over the post but could I ask some advice.

The iaudio you guys are all raving about sounds great :) - the iaudio 6 which has 4gb memory is being sold on the website =http://http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk for 209 GBP - is this worth it? I don't know how much that is in US dollars.

Whereas on amazon.co.uk, there's a 2gb Samsung player that has gotten rave reviews and it's being sold for 69.99 GBP but its not as 'pleasing' as iaudio's colour screen etc.

I don't know what to do - I can buy the Samsung one now no worries. But if I wait...for my paycheck this month I'll be able to afford the iaudio...I just don't know what to do (>.<).

Yeh the new iaudio 6 is quite expsensive, but thats because it has the new tech of 0.85' HDD. 4GB isnt enough for me, gonna wait till they make higher capacity players with the new HDD.

My logic is at least they will replace it for you...

I had a rio in the past it broke and basically they said oh well.

Most companies seem to have the oh well attitude and are frikkin hard to convince to replace for you. At least with the ipods I can take it to a store and bug them and find out what they can do.

I have read that creative is pretty decent with the warranty though... hopefully I will not have to experience it.

ooooOOh. haha good point. ><" Speaking of warranties, I don't think i have a warranty on my laptop other than the company issued one. TT__TT" How long are company issued warranties? like 90 days? >__>"

by the way... is your avatar.... a girl .. or a guy? cuz it looks like a guy, but has a skirt on. o_o"

the one i've got is an iaudio U2. it's pretty low-tech compared to the mp3 players with colour screens and video playback capability but ANYWAYs, since you prefer watching video files on a larger screen then maybe you should just stick to watching videos on that larger screen

and, instead of getting the 20gig mp3 player, you could get like..

a tiny video-playing mp3 player like an iaudio u3 or 6

so that if you're in the bus and REALLY, REALLY hard-up about watching some dramas, you could watch in on a little screen for the next 30 minutes or so.

(i mean, it's not like you're gonna be sitting in one place for THAT long,

and it's not like you're gonna download movies just to watch on your mp3 player, right? haha)

then again, if you don't mind the bulk,

and dont like straining your eyes that much,

then the 20gig with the bigger screen may be a good choice.

check out the reviews on cnet.com , iaudiophile.net , and http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/cowon/

hope this helps :)

HA ive got one of those "Drag and drop" mp3 players....from CREAtive....which i got for 65-75? i forget..

it actually ISS really easy to use...and ive had mine for a year maybe? still did not break yet and is working fine...

though im a klutz so there's scratches everywhere x_x

my only complaint is that it doesn't hold THAT many songs...but that's not THAT big of a problem cus i consider it more of a on-the-go device...

im considering a mp3 that holds more songs though for song collection/organization/home purposes...

but for on-the-go...i will stick with my creative muvo :)
