Detailed breakdown of Eraser's (AMTR) Japan Box Office for Nov 11-13 (4th week)

amtr4thweek1113nov059fk.jpg

Source: EDI Nielson and Variety

Other than no. 1 'ALWAYS', Eraser has the highest average income per cinema of US$5.438.

Notice that Eraser has only dropped 12% in box office in the 4th week? Other than ALWAYS, all movies are dropping about 30% every week. Some of these movies were only in their 2nd or 3rd week.

Eraser started screening in Japan with 308 cinemas and still screening with 298 cinemas now.

Takeshis, the no. 10 movie has only about US$283,347 box office. This is about the average box office to stay in the top 10 ranking. So if Eraser continues to drop Box Office slowly, it can stay in the top 10 Japan Box Office for a long time, just like Charlie and Chocolate Factory which has been screening for 2 and 1/2 months.

The effect of promotion and publicity and individual actor's popularity would have diminished by now in the 4th week but good movies will have staying power.

"A Memory To Remember" poised to break record of "April Snow" in Japan

gae_l.jpg

The movie "A Memory To Remember," co-starring Son Ye-jin and Chung Woo-sung, is well on its way to setting a record among all Korean movies that have ever opened in Japanese theaters.

Eiga.com estimated on Nov. 22 that "A Memory To Remember" has maintained the number two position in the Japanese box-office for three straight weeks after previously topping the chart for two consecutive weeks.

In the third week of November, the box-office was topped by the Japanese movie "It's A Wonderful Life," which has remained on top for three straight weeks."

"A Memory To Remember" will likely continue to gain popularity among Japanese viewers until Hollywood hits start pouring in during the Christmas season. If such a trend continues, the movie stands a good chance of breaking the record set by "April Snow," starring Bae Yong-jun.

"April Snow" has grossed 2.7 billion yen, recording the best performance among all Korean movies that have opened in Japan.

Last week, "A Memory To Remember" broke the record of "Windstruck," which brought in 2 billion yen, and is close to surpassing "April Snow."

Yeah! I just saw this movie the other day and absolutely loved it! I like how the first half of the movie moved in a quick but steady pace. The second part of the movie was quite heartwrenching. The disease was believable, but unrealistic. I don't think memory works in a way where it comes and goes. I mean, once you lose it, isn't it gone? However, with that being said, I still liked the ending very much.

Her disease is a real disease. Have you seen The Notebook, they use the same disease.

It's hard to say it's unrealistic when it's an actual disease.

Alzhiemer's is really horrible.
