두 편의 새 월화드라마가 SBS ‘식객’에 도전장을 내던졌다.

KBS 2TV ‘연애결혼’과 MBC ‘에덴의 동쪽’이 그것. ‘연애결혼’은 25일 첫 방송을 시작하며 ‘에덴의 동쪽’은 25일 스페셜 방송에 이어 26일 1, 2회 연속 방영으로 월화드라마 시청률 1위를 질주해 온 ‘식객’을 향한 포문을 연다.

우선 ‘식객’을 뛰어넘어야 월화드라마 시청률 경쟁을 평정할 수 있지만 함께 시작하는 만큼 두 드라마 서로의 경쟁도 치열할 수밖에 없다. ‘연애결혼’과 ‘에덴의 동쪽’의 경쟁무기인 매력 포인트를 짚어봤다. <편집자주>

‘연애결혼’과 ‘에덴의 동쪽’은 소재 면에서 확연한 차이가 드러난다. 그런 만큼 드라마 초반부에 집중 공략해 시청률 상승의 발판으로 삼아야 할 타깃 시청층도 다르다.

‘ 연애결혼’은 젊은이들의 사랑을 코믹하게 그릴 로맨틱 코미디로 20대부터 30대 초반 시청자들이 주요 타깃이다. 시청자들이 웃으면서 부담 없이 볼 수 있는 게 ‘연애결혼’의 장점. 로맨틱 코미디는 흔한 장르이기는 하지만 경쟁작인 ‘식객’, ‘에덴의 동쪽’과 장르 면에서 분명 차별화가 돼 있다는 점에서 ‘연애결혼’은 틈새시장을 자신하고 있다.

뿐만 아니라 ‘연애결혼’은 주인공들의 직업으로 기존 로맨틱 코미디들과 차별화를 꾀했다. 이 드라마의 남녀 주인공은 부부를 갈라놓는 이혼 전문 변호사 박현수와 사랑을 맺어주는 커플매니저 이강현이다. 변호사라는 직업은 드라마에서 흔하게 등장하지만 언뜻 보면 서로 상반된 직업을 갖고 있는 두 사람이 엮어갈 사랑의 방식은 시청자들을 궁금하게 하기에 충분하다.

이와 함께 ‘연애결혼’은 이강현의 업무로 볼거리를 제공한다. 이강현은 드라마 초반 결혼정보회사 노블레스팀 커플매니저로 승승장구하는데 그 비결은 황실 연회 등 참신한 파티인데 그 파티 장면들이 드라마에서도 공개될 예정이다.

반 면 ‘에덴의 동쪽’은 250억원의 제작비가 투입되는 50부작 블록버스터 드라마로 1960년대부터 2000년대까지 이어지는 두 가문의 원한과 이로 인해 뒤바뀐 인생을 살아가는 젊은이들의 복수와 화해, 사랑을 그리는 시대극이다. 다소 무거운 이야기, 뿐만 아니라 1970년대와 1980년대 시대상이 드러난다는 점에서 당시 상황에 공감대를 느낄 수 있는 386 이후 세대가 초반 타깃 시청층이다.

MBC는 이 시청자들의 향수를 자극할 수 있도록 경남 합천 영상테마파크에 합천군과 함께 총 60억원을 들여 1970년대 서울 소공동과 남영동, 종로 피맛골 등의 모습을 재현한 세트를 지었다.

물 론 등장인물들의 사랑도 있는데 그 관계가 복잡하게 얽혀있어 시청자들의 관심을 끈다. 남자 주인공 중 한명으로 신태환에 의해 억울한 죽음을 당한 아버지의 복수를 목표로 마카오 카지노 등에서 거칠게 자라나 후일 카지노 대부가 되는 이동철은 자신의 보스였던 국회장의 딸 영란과 사랑을 나누고 동생 동욱을 사랑하던 민혜린의 마음도 사로잡는다. 이 드라마의 시놉시스에는 영란의 경우 동철과의 사랑을 쟁취하기 위해 네 번 이상 죽음의 터널을 통과한다고 돼 있다.

신태환의 아들이지만 동철의 동생으로 자라난 동욱은 어린 시절 첫사랑 김지현을 자신과 운명이 뒤바뀐 신명훈에게 빼앗기고 자신을 사랑했던 혜린과도 결실을 맺지 못한다.

ya they were in the drama HOw Much love which was a long family drama , it took me a while to finish that one

i think they are saying Kim Ji Hoon confessed something in Sang Sang plus lol

maybe abt good feelings towards Jo yeon jeong that i cant be sure .er i think maybe this kind of news shd be in kim ji hoon thread

Me too. Kim Ji-hoon is the ONLY reason why I'm going to watch this drama.

I think it is a romantic comedy, at least judging from the synopsis of the drama.

coz i saw in WIKI it's 16 episodes then i saw AIGOO that it describes as a 20 episode drama? WEIRD! :D:P:)

I'm exciting.. But I'm afraid that the drama can't beat SOE with bunch of stars.. :)

Awesome! Kim Ji-hoon and Park Ki-woong together in a drama - I should definitely check it out. And the synopsis sounds pretty funny.

Jo Yeo-jeong and kim ji hoon together in the drama look amazing ,I like their couple image in the drama.

^Oh, this makes me oddly giddy because I loved them together in How Much Love (even if I didn't finish the drama). But the article was saying how he had a crush/liked Jo Yeo-jung.

The caps are making me want to watch the drama even more! Seems funny.

Gosh, I typically hate to ask these types of questions but does anyone know where I can download a LQ version of this drama? I tried HQ but my connection right now seems too slow to download it. :(
