^They're dating. Hwang found out by accident.

Tae Young's mother saw them hugging in front of her house, but she didn't recognize Ki as Hwang's brother.

(Btw, rhetorical question - why hasn't Tae Young told Ki that her parents intend to take Hwang's child no matter what? If not Ki, then she should have at least told Tae Il! <_<)

I've checked aigoo, and ep 52 hasn't been upload. Hope the show aired last night and it's just because aigoo team/hjkomo has uploaded, yes?

^I haven't been able to use clubbox lately, but Ep.52 is up at aja-aja.

Ep.51

Tae Il asks Hwang to start over again. Hwang is at a loss. It was just a moment ago that he tried to get as far away from her as possible. TI says he needed time discover his true heart. He was shocked and angry at first. Hwang tells him to go. She's already gotten over him and doesn't wish to waiver again. He asks her to think about it again, even if it's for the baby's sake.

Tae Il breaks up with Yoon Soo. She refuses to accept it.

Kyung Ja still refuses to consent to KW's marriage with Geum.

Ki goes to Tae Young's house to ask her if she still intends to go on the matchmaking date. She says she's going. Ki tells her not to go. They can get married, since Hwang and TI are not together anymore. TY's mother takes out the trash and sees the two hugging. She recognizes Ki as Hwang's brother.

Geum's birth mother comes to her house but loses her nerve and leaves. Geum recognizes the woman from the hospital.

Geum asks MJ if they found her birth mother, but she lies and says they didn't.

KJ and MJ meet. KJ is appalled that MJ consented to Geum and KW's marriage, calling her crazy and without a conscience. How dare she allow her lowly daughter who has no roots to take her son. MJ tells her off. The only drawback KW has is a mother who's not even a human being. She has no reason not to let Geum marry him because her mother-in-law won't live forever. MJ warns KJ to change her ways if she wants to continue a relationship with her son.

Geum takes a walk with KW wearing a wig that Soo Kyung bought for her. She asks if it looks weird. KW says it's passable.

Geum asks if KW told his mother about their wedding and what her response was. KW says his mother hasn't changed her mind.

Geum asks KW if he found her birth mother. He admits that he did and that she had her high school son and older daughter in America tested, but they didn't match. He also tells her that MJ was angry when the woman first refused, so she asked KW not to tell Geum. Geum wants to know her address and goes to see her. Geum witnesses her birth mother being thrown out by her husband for giving their daughter her sister money (the deal in exchange for donating bone marrow).

She asks if Geum is better now, and they go to a coffee shop. Geum is bitter that her birth mother is living so close under the same Seoul sky. If she was going to abandon her child, she should at least be living well. Geum tells her not to come to their house anymore for fear that her mom (MJ) will see her.

Tae Il asks Hwang if she's thought it over. Hwang tells him she doesn't have the confident to be his parents' daughter-in-law again, and she declines his offer to get back together. She reminds him of how much his mother hates her. Even if she spent months on her knees begging TI's mother for forgiveness, it wouldn't do any good. TI asks how she would know without trying. Hwang tells him that's how much she doesn't have confidence, to even try. And she doesn't have the confidence to love him the way she used to. He says he doesn't love her like he used to, either, but just because he's not "in love" with her like before, doesn't mean he doesn't love her. When the illusions of the other person you're in love with disappear, what remains until the very end is just love. TI says he's not in love with her like before, but he loves her.

Tae Il's parents call him out for lunch and ambush him with a meeting with Yoon Soo and her parents. TI tells Yoon Soo's parents that he and Yoon Soo already broke up and that his ex-wife is 7 months pregnant.

At home, TI tells his parents that he plans to reunite with Hwang, to their dismay.

Ki's father takes him to the bathhouse. He tells the story of how MJ was always nervous about being called in to Geum's school but was always proud when called in to Ki's school. He thanks Ki for not disappointing him. He, himself, gave up his dreams of writing because of his family obligations.

They go for soup, and Ki tells his father that he won't worry him anymore. He's given up all thoughts of pursuing a musical career. His father tells him to stop sulking then, and Ki tells his father not to get old.

KW arrives at the restaurant to find Geum already eating. He asks if she knows that the image of a woman eating meat by herself is a bit grotesque. She asks what grotesque means.

He asks her if something happened, and she offers him food. He doesn't like raw garlic, but she makes him eat it anyways. He asks if she met her birth mother. She doesn't reply. He tells her she's being good for eating meat.

MJ goes to see KJ again and tells her she meant what she said before about putting the past behind them. MJ begs her to give Geum a chance....KW comes home shocked to find MJ there. He tells her that he'll escort her home, but MJ goes on her own.

KW tells his mother she shouldn't be like this. Isn't she responsible for MJ being barren. KJ yells that it's not her responsibility. MJ was the one who had a miscarriage. KW states, even so, KJ dated her best friend's ex-boyfriend. That alone is a big sin.

KW reminds her that Geum is his road to happiness. KJ brings up Geum's health and difficulty in bearing children. KW says that doesn't matter. KJ remarks that Geum is a lowly orphan with no roots, and KW failed to mention that. This angers KW, and he tells her to take back what she said. This is the final straw. KW says he's throwing away his roots and marrying Geum next month. He doesn't need her permission. KJ threatens to disinherit him. KW doesn't care and asks her if he should call a lawyer over to write up the papers.

In Ep. 50, Tae Il's father tells his wife that they'll bring the baby home, and if Yoon Soo doesn't want to raise it with TI, then their older son and his wife can raise it. (This is after both Tae Il and Hwang have made it clear to TI's parents that Hwang is going to be the one to raise the child.)

waa this drama is still on. i thought it was supposed to end at 50?

but i just saw ep. 53 and it's quite touching to see the relationship between hyo-eun and tae-il's mother.

hyo-eun wrote a letter to her in school when she was asked to write a letter to the person she misses the most.

53mylifesgoldenageavi00.jpg

"to my granny who makes the best pizza in the world.

i did not forget you. granny, hyo-eun loves you.

from: hyo-eun "

i know ppl always say you shouldn't get together w/ someone just for the kids sake but in the case of hwang and tae-il i too hope they get together for their children's sake. especially since not all love is lost between the two of them.

Are you serious?! I don't think I can endure another custody battle.

Either way, I don't like the fact that they would try to take her baby away. Even if Hwang and TI end up together again. They're basically calling her an unfit mother and why should Hwang want to go back to that family? Knowing they keep trying to take her children away?!! :tongue2:

can someone share what happened in the last few episodes, please? i'm so curious as to how the show tied up everything. i'm sad it's the end for this show though. i thought it was a good show, even if i have to catch up with summaries from kind contributors to this thread because MBC America is sadly very, very behind.

thanks again so much to everyone who gave us great summaries! i almost don't have to watch the show because they are so good and detailed! :)

Dear hjkomo,

Thank you so very much for posting the recent summaries. I live in Hawaii and we were cut off from MBC America starting today. We only found out last week as no one had read the message posted in Korean.

So at least we can watch East of Eden and Iljimae on my soju but this wonderful show, "All About My Family" can't seem to be found anywhere with subtitles. I took a chance on soompi today and found your summaries from 47 - 51. Our last episode was #44 on Sunday so this is almost perfect and I am so happy as I am up to your last post (51). Thank you so very much and I hope that you are able to continue. I have alerted people here on our message board that you are posting summaries.

I just love this show and not being able to watch is sooooooooo painful.

Aloha,

soju
