Kim Yun-jin won the Best Actress award for her role in the film "Seven Days", a story of a child abduction, at the Annual Daejong Film Awards held Friday at the COEX Convention Hall. Kim beat out Jeon Do-yeon who has won eight best actress awards at home and abroad so far, including one for her part in "Secret Sunshine" at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival last year.

Filled with emotion, Kim could barely speak as she accepted the award onstage. "I'm stunned to receive this award," she said. "I'm honored to have been nominated along with Jeon and the other actresses. This award is on behalf of all the staff and crew of 'Seven Days.' I thank director Won Shin-yeon, who lied to me that I was the only actress to take on the role." She thanked all the staff and colleagues by name and lastly dedicated the prize to her mother.

Kim also won at the Saturn Awards in the U.S. and the Asian Actress award at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival for her role in the hit U.S. TV series "Lost." In 2002 she won the Best Actress prize at Korea's Blue Dragon Awards for her work in "Milae."

Meanwhile, "The Chaser", the number one Korean blockbuster so far this year, drawing five million moviegoers, was the day's top winner with six awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.

sorry i'm confused

did she appear in Lost season 1? yes right? because she appeared from beginning of Lost (air crash in island)

She's still on there and season 5 is premiering soon.

yeah lol.. but she did appear in S1.. im sure of that :P

she's lovely at both Blue Dragon and Korea Film Awards :P too bad she didnt win Best Actress... she was really good at 7 Days.

김윤진이 주연한 미국 드라마 ‘로스트’는 ‘2008년 최고의 TV시리즈 톱10’에서 7위에 올랐다.

‘ 올해의 톱10’은 ‘타임’에서 문화, 예술, 정치, 경제, 과학 등 사회 각 분야에서 ‘2008년 10대 뉴스’(The Top 10 Everything of 2008)를 선정한 것으로, ‘스피드 레이서’와 ‘로스트’는 예술&엔터테인먼트 카테고리에서 순위에 올랐다.

비는 2006년 ‘타임’이 선정한 ‘세계에서 가장 영향력 있는 인물 100인’에 뽑혔으며, 이듬해에도 같은 부문 온라인 투표에서 1위를 차지한 바 있다.

’TIME’ chooses ‘The Top 10 Everything of 2008’ each year in various categories such as culture, art, politics, economy, and science, and ‘Speed Racer’ and ‘Lost’ was selected in the art & entertainment category.

Rain was selected as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2006 by ‘TIME,’ and the next year he took first place in terms of online popularity ratings.

‘Lost’ star invited to represent Korean culture

Kim Yun-jin, star of the hit TV series “Lost,” was appointed as the goodwill ambassador for the Korea Content Agency yesterday.

A division under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Agency held a grand opening on Thursday at the Culture Contents Center in Mapo, northwestern Seoul.

The Korea Content Agency was established to unify independent organizations such as the Culture Contents Center, Korea Culture and Content Agency, Korean Broadcasting Institute, Korea Game Industry Agency and the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency to foster the nation’s animation, online games, films, music, and mobile content.

Kim Yunjin to represent Korean culture globally

Speaking of Korean stars in America, Kim Yunjin, of the U.S. television series Lost, was appointed goodwill ambassador for the Korea Content Agency on May 7.

The agency held its opening ceremony in Seoul at the Culture Contents Center and operates with the goal of promoting Korean entertainment (films, music, animation, games) to a worldwide audience. Thus, they selected Kim as an actor who has made her name known to an international audience through her role in Lost.

Kim Yunjin gained widespread recognition in the 1999 spy action film Swiri [쉬리], while her last film was the thriller Seven Days [세븐데이즈] with Park Hee-soon (which was originally called Thursday’s Child and had cast Kim Sun-ah).

Her next project is the film Harmony [하모니], which takes place inside a women’s prison and co-stars Na Mun-hee (High Kick, Girl Scout). It is directed by Kang Dae-kyu, who was part of the directing team for Duelist and assistant director for That Guy Was Cool.

In Harmony, Kim’s character gives birth while in prison. The title refers to her character’s desire to sing for her child, which leads her to form a choir. The film will enter shooting next month, and wrap in time to let Kim get back to the States to film the sixth season of Lost in September.

Kim Yun-jin (often called “world star” because of her role in U.S. drama series Lost), has a new Korean film coming out, her first Korean role since 2007’s Seven Days. In Harmony [하모니], Kim plays a prisoner who joins the prison choir in order to have a one-day outing with her child, from whom she has to remain separated during her incarceration. The movie will feature Kim’s hitherto-undisplayed singing skills and opens next month.

The movie is directed by Yoon Jae-kyun, coming off a huge success with the disaster movie Haeundae, and also features “national actress” (and everyone’s favorite grandma) Na Mun-hee. She plays a conductor who wants to leave the world with “one last gift” before she dies, while quirky comic actress Jung Soo-young (City Hall, Fantasy Couple) also acts in a supporting role.

Harmony, described as a poignant and moving film, will open on January 28.
