awdark Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Edit: Hahaha this got turned into a stickie?! I was just lazy and didn't feel like typing so I made screenshots and put nice little arrows on it. >_<
Guest JJUJJUBA★ Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 thanks for this!! actually, i asked a couple of my friends yesterday and they didn't know so i decided to explore my computer and i actually found all that.. but for future reference ^^
Guest xmichellee Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Can I ask something? After following your tutorials, where do i start? I mean like do you need any specify programme to type korean? Thanks for your help.
theedqueen Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 um, not quite sure what you're asking for specifically, but if you follow awdark's directions, then after you've set your computer to add the Korean keyboard, you can look to the right hand part of your taskbar and there should be this box there now that says "EN". If you click on that and you've added korean properly, there should be the option of either choosing that or "KO" (korean). After that, just hit the right alt key once and you should be able to type in Korean. And no there is no program you need for this, your computer should already be equipped with everything you need.
Guest mrs. pakman Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 when i tried to install the east asian languages, it asked me to insert the windows professional cd, which i don't have.... any other ways to download korean onto my computer?
awdark Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 Uh not really. Do you have any disks that came with your computer? Sometimes things are stored on some recovery disk.
Guest RiA Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I've always had that little language bar tab on my taskbar, but I never knew I could type Korean with it! Thanks for the tut! ^^
Guest Shining B* Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 If I do that, I can still type in english? because I only need korean sometimes. oh, do I need a korean keyboard?
theedqueen Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 If I do that, I can still type in english? because I only need korean sometimes. oh, do I need a korean keyboard? Nope, you can switch back and forth between English and Korean by switching that language box in you taskbar from "EN" to "KO". Also if you're in "KO" mode, hitting the right "alt" key will switch back and forth between English and Korean. As for a Korean keyboard, your computer will switch to Korean keyboard layout so you can basically type in _any_ language you want as long as you have configured your computer to do so. Your keys are just labled with latin characters is all. here's a layout of korean keys from wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Keyboar...yout_Hangul.png it's actually pretty easy to get the hang of it. I love typing in korean, trying to be able to get to the point where I don't even have to think about it like I do in english.

Guest pandazombie Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Ohh thankiesss my brother got a new computer and I've been wondering how todo this..
Guest Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 it doesn't work for me =( . When i try to find korean font it's not even on the drop down list. Even after i marked Install east asian fonts.
theedqueen Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 have you tried just typing and seeing what happens? Usually for me, once I switch from "EN" to "KO", whatever program I'm using will automatically switch to a font that supports Korean. Are you specifically looking for something that says "Korean" in it? Because it won't. Windows usually switches to a font called Batang to type in Korean sorta like Times New Roman for english. Try looking for that and see what happens.
Guest 정유미 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 yeah, it doesn't work for me either... it's weird cause my microsoft office programs can read korean but i can't type korean...
Guest ovaltinejenkins Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 오 스냅! 댕규! ahahaha mad spelling errors >ㅁ<
Guest Lets_Be Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I'm on my sister's computer, and i tried to install korean about 4-5 times and the language bar doesn't seem to come up. I tried the little "language bar" button on the tab thingy, but it didn't work. Everything is in the way it should be. I have it working on my computer, but it won't work on this vaio laptop. if anyone could help, that would be great.
Guest system Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 For those who added 'KO' to the language bar... you can remove 'EN' and bypass the hassle of switching between 'EN' and 'KO'. 'KO' already has a built-in English which acts the same as 'EN'. So all you have to do is hit the right Alt key (some people might be using a different method) and switch between A (English) and 가 (Korean). First, close/exit ALL applications. You must have 'KO' or at least one other language added to the list or the 'Remove' button will be grayed-out. Go to the screen above and click/highlight EN English (United States) and select 'Remove'. Restart PC. There, now you don't have to drag your mouse and click on the taskbar to change 'EN' or 'KO'.
