It really depends on how sheer the dress is and the color. But like others have suggested before I recommend that you buy a slip just to be on the safe side. You can find them easily in the underwear section and they usually run pretty cheap.

just buy a slip. if the dress is sheer you're showing skin everywhere not just your private parts

I wear slip dresses. Korea has a HUGE market of trendy ones with little ruffles at the bottom or other things to give it pizazz. They're like...$4-$15 depending on how fancy you want them. They're freaking awesome, especially since so many Korean dresses are slightly sheer.
