*** Mount Jiri is a working title and the final title will be out soon. The first two pictures show an intense scene being shot with ropes. It looks like first day of the shoot was nothing less than an adventure for the lead actors of Mount Jiri. It will be aired on tvN and iQiyi.

Ju Ji-hoon plays the eldest son in the drama Kingdom, and he wears his hanbok with the confidence of a runway model.

Although he was voted number 9 in the survey, we believe that he deserves to be even further up the list.

*** JJH appeared yesterday, December 9 episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block.” On the show, Joo Ji Hoon shared that he is currently filming the upcoming drama “Mount Jiri” and the upcoming film “Silence” (working titles). He talked about his debut drama "Goong", which was a hit in Korea and abroad. he said that his manager suddenly suggested he tries acting, so he did some lines right there on the spot. He didn’t know when to blink, so he ended up in tears, but he thinks the director thought he was very immersed in the emotions of the scene. Joo Ji Hoon also talked about his friendship with writer Kim Eun Hee, who wrote the series “Kingdom,” and the actor Jung Woo Sung. He said that Jung Woo Sung drinks alcohol without any snacks or food. He also talked about what he wrote down as his occupation when he traveled abroad. He write ‘no job’ or ‘traveler’ if he's not working on anything at the moment.  He said that he once wrote ‘actor’ and showed them a video of something he was in. He was caught once in the United States when he blocked a one-way street and he used the movie ‘Along with the Gods’ to prove his identity. Not being able to date freely is what he had given up to pursue acting. He added that he wants to travel with his parents, but it’s hard to go on ordinary trips.

Are you a fan of historical drama? Last year, there was plenty of exciting ones such as "Haechi", "Mung Bean Flower", "My Country", “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung”, “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency”, "The Tale of Nokdu", etc.

However, in 2020, there are very little historical dramas. This is sad news for those of us who like the genres. Hopefully more dramas will be announced for the second half of 2020.

Here are 4 historical dramas that start(ed) in 2020.

Aired

"Kingdom season 2"

*** Due to the rapid spread of coronavirus in Seoul, many ongoing Korean drama shoots were put on hold to take preventive precautions against the said virus and one them is the upcoming drama "Jiri Mountain". The spread of the coronavirus in Korea has been severe, and to prevent this, the whole 'Jirisan' (Korean title) team has decided to take a short break until Dec. 20. The team already started shooting last September. They are also working together with the Korea National Park Service with their production. The forthcoming drama is also expected to help boost South Korea's tourism. Viewers are expected to see the drama in the early months of next year (2021).

4. Joo Ji Hoon

joo-ji-hoon-hyena.jpg

Joo Ji Hoon has been keeping himself busy in 2020. He starred in SBS’s “Hyena” as a hot shot lawyer that oozed confidence and charisma. In the midst of this confidence, Joo Ji Hoon was able to portray moments of vulnerability that were so good. On top of this project, Joo Ji Hoon also starred in the sequel to the hit zombie drama “Kingdom.” Joo Ji Hoon as Lee Chang is perfection and it was a delight to see him reprise his role.

*** New stills, featuring Jeon Ji-hyun and Joo Ji-hoon have been revealed for upcoming mystery drama Jirisan. This is almost guaranteed to be a success. *crosses fingers* I really want to watch this drama badly. I'm happy for the new theme.  My understanding is that iQIYI has exclusive broadcasting rights outside South Korea for this drama. I'll take Joo Ji-hoon anytime..... And JJH looks great in these stills. And I missed Jun Ji Hyun. I have yet to watch a drama with her. Eh, they have same initials: JJH - hahaha.

7 More Underrated K-Dramas To Add To Your Watch List

There are constantly underrated shows in the world of dramaland that many people are sadly not exposed to. Sometimes these dramas don’t quite meet the hype of the general population for various reasons and are either swept under the rug or noticed after the series is completed. Whatever the case, this feature is to shine light on some of those dramas that you might not have known were worth the watch! Make sure you check out the solid list of part one of this feature here.

Note: This list is in no particular order and there may be minor spoilers!

3. “Hyena”

hyena1.jpeg

Yoon Hee Jae (Joo Ji Hoon) falls in love with Jung Geum Ja (Kim Hye Soo) and makes it pretty obvious that he wants to be with her. What Hee Jae doesn’t know is that it’s all part of Geum Ja’s master plan to make him fall for her. Hee Jae is a lawyer at an elite law firm and Geum Ja is trying to do whatever she can to get high profile cases so that she can make more money. The two realize that they’re total opposites and are better off staying away from each other, that is, until a specific case forces the two to work together.

hyena2.gif

As someone who’s not that into court/lawyer-themed K-dramas, “Hyena” does an excellent job of reeling you in from the very first episode. The series is not only about cases that Hee Jae and Geum Ja are trying to solve, but it’s about injustice, truth, and love. The loyalty of the lawyer squad will continuously have you cheering for them and hoping that they come out on top. And we can’t forget about the sizzling chemistry and romance between Kim Hye Soo and Joo Ji Hoon – it’s the ultimate noona romance!

2020 Korean Dramas On Netflix That Won Our Hearts Big Time

2020-Dramas.jpg

2020-korean-dramas-on-netflix.jpg

As the season of 2020 Korean Dramas winds down in a few days, expect a parade of fond lookbacks from all the stories we enjoyed this year.

2020 was a rough year for everyone, but it was a year full of amazing K-dramas that made us laugh, cry, and hope for a better future. From super romantic stories about a crash landing to a heartwarming friendship between doctors, there was something for everyone.

If you are preparing a schedule for your holiday season K-Drama marathon, look no further! Sip your favorite hot chocolate, binge on your favorite food or go for a chimaek session while enjoying these 2020 Korean Dramas on Netflix that you will surely love.

Hyena

Hyena pits two rival lawyers against each other who also have very intense chemistry. Jung Geum-ja (Kim Hye-soo) is a street-savvy lawyer with many tricks up her sleeve while Yoon Hee-jae (Ju Ji-hoon) is a hotshot lawyer from a family of judges and prosecutors.

They’re a bit morally gray as they defend their wealthy clients. These main characters are refreshingly different from stereotypical “perfect” or “genius” characters we often see in K-dramaland. Flawed yet likeable, these lawyers do pursue the truth, justice, and love.

hyena-kdramadiary-1.jpg

Kingdom S2

The first season of historical zombie series Kingdom was so epic, stunning, and satisfying. And it got even better with the second season!  All of the action comes to a head as Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji-hoon) faces his opponents and the ever-growing hordes of zombies.

Full of thrills, gore, and twists, this season was scintillating from beginning to end. The show also made The New York Times’ Best TV Shows of 2020 list! Can’t wait for more and definitely excited for Kingdom: Ashin of the North.

2020 drama review: what snared my interest…

20201223_214512.jpg?w=576

My 2020 drama review. I realised I did watch many dramas this year but few stood out for me. I guess quite a number were watchable and entertaining across the board; just not terribly outstanding. I’m not listing dramas that have yet to finish its run because I wouldn’t be able to fairly compare them with those I have watched in completion. My ultimate fave drama for the year is definitely Find Me In Your Memory. Kim Dong Wook and Moon Ga Young were just fantastic together.

Ranked according to preference:

Best Drama
1) Find Me In Your Memory (MBC)
2) Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2 (SBS)
3) It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (tvN)
4) Hyena (SBS)

Fave Male Romantic Character
1) Kim Dong Wook (Lee Jung Hoon, Find Me In Your Memory)
2) Joo Ji Hoon (Yoon Hee Jae, Hyena)

The top 10 K-dramas of 2020, from Start-Up to The Uncanny Counter

Korean entertainment hit a high point in 2020, notably with the Academy Award success of Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite. Yet while the movie industry went on to suffer following the onset of Covid-19, Korean dramas have been flourishing across the globe.

It has not just been lockdowns that have been driving viewers to the small screen, however. The Korean drama machine made its boldest strides in 2020, exploring exciting new territory in terms of theme and genre, in addition to its bread-and-butter tales of romance – forbidden or otherwise.

With so much to choose from, many of our favourites could not quite make the cut for this list, which includes a couple of shows that debuted in December 2019 but had most of their episodes screened this year, while a few more recent series haven’t quite wrapped up their runs.

Here are our picks of the 10 best K-dramas of 2020, ranked from good to great.

7. Kingdom (season 2)

The hit period zombie series Kingdom returned for its second season . Winter descends on the Joseon Kingdom, which makes life much harder for our returning heroes battling an undead horde who can now run amok in the daytime.

The sets, locations and costumes remain a highlight in Netflix’s first Korean original. But while death and betrayal rage more furiously than before, the on-screen carnage loses some of its novelty on this second lap, especially as the story steadily contracts back to its starting point.

No word on season 3 just yet, but a special prequel episode called Kingdom: Ashin of the North, featuring superstar Jun Ji-hyun, is due out in 2021.
