Guest xrhapsody
my hair was a reddish brown but it faded to a yucky orange brown -.- i decided that i wanted to go back to black hair, so my roots are like 2 inches now~~anyone know how long it'll take to grow all out (my hairs shoulder length) should i wait for the roots to completly come out or should i just dye it black? ._. I say it depends on whether or not you're concerned about the damage. Me personally, am scared of my hair getting waay damaged. So I would say grow them out. But if the color is really unsightly then maybe dying it isn't a miserable idea lol. I have a question: I have dyed hair but my roots are growing out. if i dye my hair by myself, will it turn 2 different colors? coz someone told me if u dyed ur hair by urself with black roots growing out the already dyed part will be lighter than the roots. does that make sense? Yeah, the already dyed part will turn lighter. I say buy one of those touch-up kits they have in drug stores. They have a brush thing so that you can color only your roots. Guest ginger
I've dyed my hair so many times I can't find any pictures of my natural color. I started dying it dark brown in 10th grade and haven't gone back. There are some pictures of me with black hair...but that was dyed, too--my natural color is lighter than that. WORTH IT?: - YES/NO/KIND OF... - Natural Hair type: - fine/course- FINE - straight/curly - pin straight - short/medium/long hair -it changes - etc. Hair History: - -Virgin/Dyed probably about...30+ times (if so, what color and process, etc.) -Natural/Permed -natural -etc. Hair color Before: - color before - dark, dark brown with natural red undertones Hair color After: - color after - red, gold, orange, medium brown, reddish brown, caramel brown Bleach?: - yes/no - just the blonde-ish color Hair Dye: - brand, shade, etc. - L'Oreal True Brunettes and other Korean brands Price: - $ - 10 Changes: - Damage? I like changing things and hate the idea of having the same hair color or style for years and years. The current style is the big one on top. Guest thehappening
WORTH IT?: - yes, definitely Natural Hair type: kind of long, straight asian hair but pretty coarse in texture especially if not straightened Hair History: - virgin black hair before Hair color Before: Just imagine virgin black hair. Hair color After: ^ Bleaching/hair dyeing progression as I did the underside of my bangs Bleach?: Yes yes yes of course! Bleached 3 times with 40 volume. It kills your hair, but you absolutely cannot get a vibrant color from asian black hair without bleaching a few times. Hair Dye: Prism Lites or Quick Blue + regular cream developer from Sally's. RAW True Blue and Manic Panic Aftermidnight Blue. Price: - Dyed it all myself, so it was just the cost materials. About $20 Changes: Hair is damaged and brittle after bleaching as expected, but it's nothing a few good protein treatments and deep conditioning won't (mostly) ameliorate. Description: - Foiled highlights with bleach 3 times, 30-45 minutes each while applying heat. Left in blue hair dye for 2-3 hours with heat. Comments: I've maintained blue hair for over a year, I think dyeing fun vibrant colors in hair properly is a pretty difficult process for most people to try to do themselves but it's incredibly rewarding if you just take the time to do your research and try to do it right. Unfortunately, yes, it will turn out 2 different colors...I know from personal experience. If you're set on doing it by yourself, I'd recommend first putting the dye on your already-dyed hair, waiting, then placing it on your roots, but in order to get a good estimate of how long you should wait, you should probably test it out on a few strands or so (but I never do this b/c I'm incredibly lazy and impatient). It's a hassle for sure, but if you don't want to look like a dye-job gone wrong or shell out tons of $ at the salon, it's all you can do :/

Guest ginger
This looks very unnatural. Round eyed, oval faced people look more natural on blonde dye. Lol who said I was trying to look natural? Nice assumption, but totally wrong. Maybe next time? thehappening: Oh my god, I love the blue--it looks so stunning. Guest .Demy
WORTH IT?: YES! It's so much fun to change your hair color. Natural Hair type: Straight, not thick, not thin. Hair History: Dyed and Bleached (Sections) Several times. Hair color Before: Dark Brown-Black. Hair color After: Red, Pink, Blue, Purple, Black, Brown. Bleach?:Yes, but not all of it! And have it done by a professional. Hair Dye:Manic Panic, Special Effects, and Salon stuffs. Price: $15 per bleaching and Dying with my hair stylist Kyle. About $8 per bottle of dye. Changes: Hair is still healthy, and I bleached so many sections in it, that now that my black faded, I have natural-looking brown highlights. WHOOT. Description: I had my hair stylist bleach my hair EVERY time. Since my hair is naturally dark and dye won't take, I just put color over all of it and let it sit generally for an hour for intense colors. Comments: Don't dye your hair black. It looks god-awful. Make it a dark black-brown. But NEVER full out black. _______________________________________________________________ WELL, let's see if I can remember all the colors I went through...Ahem... Guest stryder
What is this tin foil technique you guys are talking about? Is it for doing streaks only, or it increases the effectiveness for all types?
Guest thehappening
What is this tin foil technique you guys are talking about? Is it for doing streaks only, or it increases the effectiveness for all types? I use foil to separate sections of my hair when I highlight it. It's for organization and making sure the bleach doesn't get on the rest of the hair, really. I don't know why you'd use foils for all-over color.
