Synopsis/character information

The love story of a single dad, Kang Poong Ho, who raises his 7 year old son alone after being abandoned by his first love. By day he works as a pest exterminator and by night he is a martial artist. His first love is his son's mother who is a cold and proud woman who left her family to study abroad as a pianist. Jeon Ha Ri, is a girl from a wealthy family who falls for Poong Ho.

Kang Poon Ho, 30 years old (Oh Ji Ho)

Work as a pesticide controller in the morning and a K1 fighter at night. Poon Ho is a positive and down to earth man

Abandoned by his first love – So Yi, and raised his only son “san” single-handedly .

He’s willing to do anything for his son, in fact to die for him, a gift from God to San,

but he can never heal San’s painful scars on his heart ever since his mother left him.

He’s cold and stony towards woman , as he never trust and believe in woman and love anymore,

ever since So Yi his first love left him and San,

until he meets Ha Ri and he wanted to give he his true heart.

After 6 years. He met his first love, So Yi again…

fate started to involve in everyone related.

San’s brain tumour has relapsed.

In order to save San from the illness, Poon Ho does not hesitate to work extra hard to earn enough money to pay for San’s medical fees.

His fatherly love or San is so noble that God is unable to minister

Jeon Ha Ri, 24 years old (Heo Yi Jae)

Grows up in a blissful family with no setbacks, a naïve and bright girl.

Because of her mother’s death, she became emotional. She felt betrayed and became rebellious,

when her father left her with So Yi for abroad studies,

but due to loneliness,she’s able to put herself to sleep when she lied on her bed in 3 seconds.

No matter in any place or any situation This make her says goodbye to dejection and sadness

Ha Ri falls in love with boring and stony Poon Ho.

The presence of Poon Ho’s first love, So Yi’s as a rival between her father and Poon Ho ,

made her despair, and contemplate whether it’s right to take Poon Ho as her everlasting lover ,

but always remind herself that in her dictionary there’s nothing called “to let go from setbacks” !

after realising the time limit with the dying Poon Ho , she decides to defend her love right to the end

Yun So Yi, 30 years old ( Kang Sung Yeon)

Intellectual, refine with an elegant yet arrogant pianist. Lost her parents in an accident, and raised up by her relative

She wants to fulfill her dreams as a pianist very much , but due to poverty she’s unable to support her dreams,

until when she meets her sponsor “Ji Suk ,

Mercilessly abandoned Poon Ho and her son “San” to study abroad.

But at bottom, she’s not a cold woman that she appeared to be, just because ,

she has to sacrifice her happiness,she wish to avoid Poon Ho and her son San when she’s back from abroad studies,

nd gave her true love to her sponsor Ji Suk.When she understands about San’s illness, she called off the wedding engagement .

She was heartbroken when she saw San in pain but yet she can’t do anything to help him much.

Kang San( Kyung Ho’s son), 7 years old (Ahn Do Kyu)

A pure and innocent kid, resembles his father – Poon Ho, who loves to fight. He has a pride and will always go to a corner whenever he wants to cry,

he will always place his father in his heart , and he always tell people that his mum is beautiful like Kim tae Hee.

He doesn’t have any photos of his mother ,

and when he thinks of his mother he will look at the sky.and guess how she will be like.

He developed his love for playing piano

and take up the risk of not letting Poon Ho know that he learns piano from Ha Ri, as Poon Ho dislikes piano.

He was diagnosed with brain tumour, but try to appear cheerful and positive to lessen his father's pain

Jeon Ji Suk, 50 years old (Park Jung Hwan)

Ha Ri’s father, So Yi’s Fiancé. After the death of his wife, he volunteers to )be So Yi’s sponsor for her abroad studies.

He left his daughter and went to the states with So Yi for 6 years and live in guilt for leaving his daughter alone in Korea.

A gentle and humanist person, the world’s most important thing to him is to place his priority in his family,

especially with his daughter Ha Ri, he will try to give as much as he can.

He recognize Ha Ri’s feelings for single papa – Poon Ho, when he saw the happiness in Ha Ri with Poon Ho,

but was shaken by the fact that Poon Ho is So Yi’s former husband.

After he realized So Yi’s true feelings for her son, San. He accepts to do a surgical operation for San.

Oh Chil Gu, 24 years old ( Shin Dong Hee )

Poon Ho’s orphanage Brother. Work as a pesticide controller along with Poon Ho .

He treats Poon Ho as a real older brother, although they’re not. Ignorant and deprived person.

He’s taking up a high school qualification examination. Always squabbling with Kyung Ah, but falls in love with her.

But feels inferior as he only has high school qualification, and he starts to lie to Kyung ah that he’s a law student…

Oh Ji-ho Lands Lead Role in New KBS Series

Actor Oh Ji-ho has been cast as the lead for the upcoming Mon.-Tues. KBS TV drama series 'Single Papa in Love.'

He will play 'Kang Poong-ho,' who has a 7 year old son and works as a pest exterminator during the day and a K-1 fighter at night. The optimistic single dad never loses his sense of humor under bitter trials.

Oh says he wants to encourage the 250,000 single fathers in Korea.

He will visit Japan this Saturday to promote his drama 'Oh Soo Jung,' in which he appeared opposite actress Eom Jung-hwa. 'Oh Soo Jung' will air in Japan from next month.

Heo Lee Jae is back in a television drama after a year.

After starring in last year's "Goong S," Heo is going to be back in the KBS Monday-Tuesday drama "Single Papa in Love" as a medicine student who falls in love with the character of Oh Ji Ho. Oh plays the role of a single parent with a 7-year-old son and who works as a pest exterminator during the day and a combative sport player at night.

Heo plays as a surgeon's only daughter, who lost her mother when she was only 6 years old. Although she was solely raised by her father, she grew up to be an optimistic and transparent (?) lady.

"Heo Lee Jae looks pure, refreshing and charming but she is also someone who can express well sadness and pain," explained Lemon Rain, the production company in charge of the drama.
