Song Hye Kyo And Park Bo Gum Meet Again With Conflicting Emotions In “Encounter”

New stills of Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum have been released!

On December 5, tvN’s “Encounter” gave viewers a peek at Cha Soo Hyun (played by Song Hye Kyo) and Kim Jin Hyuk (played by Park Bo Gum) in the upcoming episode.

In the newest stills, Cha Soo Hyun and Kim Jin Hyuk stand facing each other with contrasting facial expressions. She appears startled while he looks at her warmly as if to comfort her. The ocean can also be seen behind Kim Jin Hyuk, raising questions about why the two leads ran into each other near the sea after their scandal.

Last week, Cha Soo Hyun and Kim Jin Hyuk coincidentally met in Cuba and spent a dream-like day together. They then reunited back in Korea as the CEO of Donghwa Hotel and a new employee respectively. Following their unexpected reunion, they made viewers’ hearts flutter by talking about their day like friends and smiling at each other. At the end of the second episode, a photo of them eating ramen together at the rest stop was circulated along with reports of dating rumors.

A source from the drama said, “In the drama, Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk will be immersed in their different emotions for one another after the scandal reports. Please look forward to the third episode of ‘Encounter’ to see how Soo Hyun and Jin Hyuk will face an awkward situation, comfort each other after reuniting, and their beautiful thoughts for one another.”

“Encounter” airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. KST.

Two new star-studded series on tvN sweep weekly TV chart

SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Yonhap) -- Two new television series, "Encounter" and "Memories of the Alhambra," both unveiled last week, swept the upper ranks of the weekly TV chart, data showed Wednesday.

 

The network's Wednesday-Thursday series by Song Hye-kyo and Park Bo-gum fared better than the weekend series, starring Hyun Bin and Park Shin-hye, by 326.0 to 244.3, respectively, in Content Power Index (CPI) scores for the week of Nov. 26 to Sunday.

 

"Encounter" is a romantic drama that revolves around Cha Soo-hyun (Song), a high-powered politician's daughter who divorced a man from a chaebol family and the ordinary young man Kim Jin-hyuk (Park Bo-gum). The two bump into each other in Cuba while traveling and spend some memorable time together. Back in Korea, they meet each other again in unexpected circumstances

The CPI, created by CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, measures the level of popularity, social media presence and influence on consumer behavior of entertainment TV programs aired on the three major terrestrial networks -- MBC, SBS and KBS -- and the seven cable channels owned by CJ ENM, including tvN, Mnet and OCN, during prime time. JTBC, another cable network that airs some highly popular entertainment shows and dramas, is not included in the measurement.

On December 4, the tvN drama “Encounter” released its first behind-the-scenes video of its filming shoot in Cuba.

The video begins with Song Hye Kyo’s scenes arriving on the island in a vivid red dress. The video compliments the stylist on her choice of clothing, which perfectly suits the actress, the atmosphere, and the character.

Park Bo Gum proves to be popular in Cuba as well, playing with the children running around, freely participating in the dance scenes on and off camera, and thanking the residents when they had finished filming.

The video also showed the work that went into some of the choreographed dance scenes, including getting help from local filmmakers. Meanwhile, the cast and crew maintained their warm, positive atmosphere even when filming went on long into the night, and the director also showed a good rapport with his lead actors.

Watch: “Encounter” Shares Extras And Bloopers With Park Bo Gum And Song Hye Kyo

In a new video released on December 5, tvN’s “Encounter” shares extras from behind the scenes, including some funny bloopers.

In the first scene, Park Bo Gum makes a mistake in his line to Song Hye Kyo, and when they try again, they immediately burst out laughing at the same time.

Park Bo Gum then puts his best drunk face on, shooting a scene where he’s at a company dinner. Later, drunk in the car with Song Hye Kyo, the actress compliments the actor, saying, “He’s really good at acting drunk.”

In another scene, Park Bo Gum gets in a car, and as Song Hye Kyo is walking around to the passenger side, the director yells “No, no, no! Again again again!” Alarmed, Song Hye Kyo turns around, and the director says, “Bogummy is passing by,” pointing at a truck driving by with one of Park Bo Gum’s ads on the side.

The director jokes, “Bogummy went by! This is because of him!”
