Previously, it was reported that Song Hye Kyo would be reuniting with Descendants of the Sun writer, Kim Eun Sook, for a new drama. Although it was confirmed that Song Hye Kyo had accepted the collaboration, no details were out about the new drama, until today.

 

 

On January 8, 2021, it was reported through various news outlets that the new drama would be titled, The Glory. The Glory is about a female lead that dreamt of becoming an architect. However, in high school, due to cruel school violence, she dropped out.

 

 

Eventually, as they grew up, the ringleader of this cruel bullying married and gave birth to a child. The female lead bided her time until the bully’s child ascended to elementary school, and took up a new post of the child’s form teacher. She then starts to take revenge against the bully and others that merely observed as she was bullied in the past.

Written as a cruel and tragic story, Song Hye Kyo will undoubtedly star as the female lead, while her male leads are not yet confirmed.

Production company Hwa & Dam Pictures has revealed more details regarding scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook's newest drama series, 'The Glory'. 
Marking the scriptwriter's first new project approximately a year after SBS's 'The King: Eternal Monarch', 'The Glory' will be a series consist of multiple seasons, with actress Song Hye Kyo starring as the female lead of the complete storyline.
The story of 'The Glory' begins with a high school student who dreamed of becoming an architect. However, after suffering as the victim of severe school violence, the student drops out of high school. Years later, the perpetrator of the school violence incident has married and had children, the oldest of whom is ready to enter elementary school. Having waited for this moment to begin a long and complex revenge, the former victim becomes the young child's teacher, targeting not only the main perpetrator but also all those students who looked on as the violence went on during those high school days. 
The first season of 'The Glory' will consist of 8-episodes, with filming beginning some time in the second half of 2021. The production will be headed by director Ahn Gil Ho, alongside Song Hye Kyo and scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook.

SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Yonhap) -- Actress Song Hye-kyo will return to the small screen with "The Glory," a new drama series written by the screenwriter of "Descendants of the Sun."

Hwa & Dam Pictures said Friday that Song will take a lead role in the piece that revolves around a woman who experiences school violence and seeks revenge after graduating. 

It will be Song's first TV series since romance "Encounter" (2018) and star scriptwriter Kim Eun-sook's new project after the fantasy "The King: Eternal Monarch" (2020), which earned poorer-than-expected reviews at home.

"The Glory" also attracts media attention due to the reunion of the actress and the screenwriter since the megahit military romance series "Descendants of the Sun" in 2016.

Hwa & Dam said director Ahn Gil-ho, who was behind "Memories of the Alhambra" (2018) and "Record of Youth" (2020), will be in charge of the pre-produced series.

Previously, it was confirmed that the actress will be joining hands with Kim Eun Sook once again for a new project.

On January 8, production company Hwa & Dam Pictures shared, “Kim Eun Sook’s new drama is titled ‘The Glory.'”

“The Glory” is a sad revenge story that begins with a high school student who dreamed of becoming an architect. However, she had to drop out of school after suffering from brutal school violence. Years later, the perpetrator gets married and has a kid. Once the kid is in elementary school, the former victim becomes their homeroom teacher and starts her thorough revenge towards the perpetrators and bystanders of her bullying days.

The pre-produced series will consist of multiple seasons, and the first one will be eight episodes long. The broadcast station as well as the specific airing schedule have not been determined yet. However, as the production team and the lead actress have been confirmed, filming will begin in the second half of this year.
