sunbae0401
This thread wont be the same without @khxy and @hclover96 , I love reading their translations always. I like the natural questions of ELLE , and I love the answers of Hye Kyo, One great thing about her , she answer questions honestly , no sugarcoats, she doesn’t hide anything, shes real. Love reading her interviews because she always gave unexpected answer, and always give extra bits pieces of informations, like she was asked how many dogs she has, she doesnt just answer 7 , she provide additional info , that her dogs were obedient etc. she sounds like proud mom to her dogs. I wuuvvvv her.

IrisFM
It's already "Happy Friday" where I am. This week has been a treat with many beautiful updates and images of HyeKyo from her own IG, W Korea, Star1, Elle and Shilla Duty Free. Thanks everyone for your constant updates and all the wonderful translators for your hard work and effort to bridge the communication/understanding gap In the Elle Magazine that @khxy kindly shared that HyeKyo reads comments/reviews of her acting in DOTS, there's a possibility that she knows the existence of her ifans in Soompi Forum Under this assumption, let me say "I love your amazing acting and character in DOTS as Kang MoYeon the best and wish you will receive many acting awards for this role." Spoiler I know it's a very slim chance of her reading my post lol. ......... IrisFM
Song Hye Kyo reflects on her character in 'Descendants of the Sun' for 'W Korea' 'Descendants of the Sun' heroine Song Hye Kyo went all out for her recent photoshoot with 'W Korea' and reflected on her character Kang Mo Yeon's personality. The interviewer naturally asked about Song Hye Kyo's role in the hit drama, and the actress relayed, "When I first received the script, the character hadn't been as developed yet. The writer and I went out drinking a few times, where she changed the character positively for me. When you're drunk, you get a little braver, so I think I demanded more from her. I think she enjoyed seeing that from me." About receiving a lot of love from female viewers for Kang Mo Yeon's outgoing, opinionated personality, Song Hye Kyo reflected, "Females usually like me better. During the drama was when I learned about the term 'Cider' (Someone who speaks their mind, straightforward, like the refreshing taste of cider), and I liked that the female character had such a clear voice of her own instead of being dragged along by the male character. Even some female characters like that can become passive when they're in love, but Mo Yeon was always certain about her worth and her style. It took a long time for her to realistically accept the fear surrounding the other person's situation and background, and so she did end up being scolded by some viewers who fell for Yoo Si Jin right away (laughter). I thought that how she was strongly inclined to her work, how she was realistic, and how she loved but didn't fall prey to love were the attractive parts of her. There were a few unlikable things here and there, of course (laughter)." It sounds like Song Hye Kyo really delved deep into Kang Mo Yeon's character during her drama! More of the actress' photos and interview questions can be found in the June issue of 'W Korea'! Popular Post smiletall
It's been a while but glad to finally see her photoshoots and associated articles finally come out! Here's the translation to the W magazine article Q&A that was posted online. Didn't really read over and edit too carefully because it is late here now, so sorry for any typos, but thought I could translate for people here. So enjoy! Again: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS OUT OF THIS THREAD OR DISTRIBUTE WITHOUT PERMISSION AND PROPER CREDIT. Please respect this request for my translations and the work of others. Do not make me have to put an ugly watermark behind the text of future translations. It makes it really annoying to read. >.< Thanks @khxy for posting the link! And thank you for your translations of the Elle China article!! SPELLBOUND (The girl, Song Hye Kyo) The weather for today's outdoor shoot was unrealistically clear. Before, I would purposely go outside to enjoy this kind of weather, but lately I'm usually at home. Unlike when I was younger, my social circle isn't as wide so the people I meet tends to be fixed (laughs). I have to work on projects and my friends have work every day. I go out on the terrace during the day to soak in the sun and enjoy the wind, just along those lines. A few years ago when you did an interview with W, you said that instead of resting, you liked to keep working. On the other hand, there are actors who like to rest and recharge for long periods and work in blinding spurts. I'm still the type that wants to work. But after one project ends and before I meet the next project, I think I do need some time to zone out. Something like sending my mind away. Taking care of my everyday life and being able to empty and forget things I had built inside, that kind of time. But if I spend too much time not working, I get worried that I'll lose a certain sense [of acting]. That's why, even though it's not an ENG camera for a drama, I like to do these kinds of magazine photoshoots in front of cameras and stay nervous [alert].. For the KBS documentary <May, The Children> that aired yesterday, you narrated without accepting the appearance fee. It was a documentary about pediatric medical care, and a female doctor who struggles to build a system for terminally ill children. I received this offer after I finished playing a doctor in the drama <Descendants of the Sun>, and I wanted to give strength to the person working hard all alone. Since it was a story about sick children, my heart did hurt, but I recorded in the hopes that my voice would help even a little bit. Because it's something that only takes 3-4 hours to invest, it's a bit embarrassing to say anything more. You supported Korean brochures for MoMA and worked to install a Korean promotional video box in a Boston art gallery. What made you feel the need to start this kind of work? It's not work that I started while thinking of large goals. Not just me, but I think anybody who has free time and starts to observe there surroundings would have noticed. There were many times when I would have the desire to do something, but couldn't because I didn't know how. One time I went to a museum in the UK and the audio guide had Japanese, Chinese, but not Korean so it was frustrating. After mentioning that in an interview, Professor Seo Kyung Deok noticed it and contacted me with a proposal. It didn't require a large amount of money as I thought it would. I was just able to meet someone with the same feelings, and wanting to do [this work] consistently for a long time seems important. It's been about one month since <Descendents of the Sun> finished. How have you been these days? Rather than one month, it feels as if half-a-year has passed to me since the pre-production of the drama was completed quite some time ago. Nothing much has changed. I'm happy the drama did well but I'm not excessively excited. The ratings surpassed 30%. Isn't that something to feel good about as an actor? If I was an actor in my mid-twenties who felt like I needed to win big through my drama, then I may have felt excited right now and also maybe a bit empty, but now that I'm in my mid-thirties, I feel more grateful that because I was able to already have those experiences, I probably am more steady. Because I appeared after so long, I am extremely grateful for the large amount of love I received. It's hard enough to meet one drama that is called "daebak", but the fact that I've had multiple opportunities makes me even wonder. I think it's really the people I work with that are amazing. What's the style of writer Kim Eun Sook? She's like a magician of language. There were a lot of phrases that I would never use in real life, so whenever I would act and say these words with my own lips, I felt like I was living vicariously [through my character]. Mo Yeon is a character who speaks her mind, can joke well, and is clever with words. While looking over the script, there would be many moments where the words would breakthrough with great ideas, and I would think 'She's not writer KES for no reason.' Now I think I understand why she is able to create so many [word/phrase] trends. What type of character was Kang Mo Yeon? When I first received the script, she wasn't as three-dimensional [in depth] yet. The writer met with me personally and we also drank together. In doing so, the script was changed to make her more optimistic. When I get drunk, I gain more courage so I told her my opinions more clearly and strongly. I think she considered that aspect of me in a fun way. Female viewers in particular really liked her because she was a character who was sure of herself, In general, it seems like females liked me (laughs). It was the first for me to do a drama and be referred to as "cider" [refreshing]. I liked that she wasn't being dragged around by the male protagonist and was able to speak up for herself. These types of female characters still often become passive when they come across problems in love, but Mo Yeon was certain of her own values and style. She realistically took a while to consider and accept the fears and concerns surrounding her partner's circumstance and background. At the same time, the amount of resentment towards her grew by viewers whose hearts had been stolen Yoo Si Jin (laughs). She is loyal to her profession, realistic, loves but doesn't become consumed by it--these aspects were very charming to me. Of course, there were moments where she lacked as well (laughs). What makes you the happiest these days? I don't really remember. I think the last thing that made me happy recently was the good response from the drama. Lately I wonder about my own feelings as I don't really feel extremely happy or feel like things are extremely hard. Then what made you the most worried? My forgetfulness has gotten more frequent so I have to write things like my ID or passwords down. I lost that notebook so I need to find it. I tend to lose a lot of things at home. There are actors whose faces show an anxiety over wanting to hold onto time, but you don't seem that way. When doing a drama or a photoshoot, there are lights and editing done to make you look pretty. But since aging is inevitable, I embrace it. Everyone knows my age, and I don't really see the good in just having a face that looks tight when they all know I aged. I think it's best to age naturally. Of course, since I'm an actress, I'll work hard to age as slowly as possible. I go to the dermatologist and do face masks. When I was younger, I really didn't exercise. But lately I do yoga and I avoid strong [spicy] foods. My mom always said that how you choose to feel will show on your face, and I think it's true. My attitude towards life shows in my face. Events that make you angry, frustrated, and sad are all things people come across. Instead of being a person who suffers from those experiences, its the people who endures those moments with optimism and good feelings whose faces look well. It seems like you've become a lot more peaceful in some way in the past few years. To be honest, I don't want to mature too early. At least with my friends, I want to hear that we don't act our age and maintain a sense of innocence. Even after you grow much older? Because my profession is an actor. Even after I become 50 or 60 years old, I think it's important to maintain a sense of innocence. When I see senior actresses with youthful characteristics, I think it's beautiful. I think it would be great if I could one day be like them. Popular Post khxy
Hyun Jyu Ni interview (mention about Hye Kyo) Q:How was it working with Song Hye Kyo? It couldn't be better. There was no NG moments when we filmed together. There was one scene where Pyo Ji Soo and Kang Mo Yeon were drinkig wine, that scene really depicts the friendships between two .When Kang Mo Yeon returned from Uruk and hugged Pyo Ji Soo,i really felt at ease so i wss holding back tears actually.Hye Kyo unnie also hugged me tightly. Q:For Kang Mo Yeon, what Pyo Ji Soo means to her? Like an insurance. We,women, also have the kind of loyalty and deep friendships that men have, but on screen, most of the time women are always shown to be jealous of each other. To be able to show the deep loyalty between women is really meaningful. In real life,i rely on Hye Kyo unnie a lot. Q:It seems that Song Hye Kyo and you have a deep bonds, for you personally, what Song Hye Kyo means to you? Whether i am sad or happy,Hye Kyo unnie is someone that i always want to look for.She is very easygoing towards actors and crew. She is pretty and has a good character both during filming and in private.Nowadays,no matter where i go i will always say my favourite top star is Song Hye Kyo Q:The pictures of DOTS' dinner gathering were making headlines. It seems that the casts get along really well. Hye Kyo unnie often organize gatherings for Haesung hospital team. Q:For you,DOTS is.... I am really thankful towards the people who believe in me and also i managed to act with actors whom i really wish to work with. For me,it is a blessing.Even though it is a little pity that my part is small but because of i was acting alongside Hye Kyo unnie, the writer wrote me some trademark lines so it is a drama that i am very satisfied with. Q: Do you wish to take part in reality show? I want to.I want to go to Switzerland and Germany. If i can have a company,i would want to go with Hye Kyo unnie.I keep mentioning Song Hye kyo unnie from start to finish.Everyone please let me go with Hye Kyo unnie(laugh) Credit weibo
