No CJH didn’t have a party with a group of people.  It’s just  him and an acquaintance.   According to his agency GTree,  since it’s covid19, in order to avoid crowds, they looked for a quiet place to talk. So the acquaintance found the bar that was supposed to be open till 10PM.   But it turned out this bar should not be open because it couldn’t provide safe social distancing among customers.
What a bummer :kicks:  They looked for a safe place but ended up in the wrong place.:cold_sweat:    If they didn’t check ahead whether the place was running illegally or not,  I have to think they must not go out too much.  I know CJH doesn’t go out frequently for drinks.
CJH deeply apologizes and stops filming  (hopefully for a short duration??) and stays home to self-isolate. :cries:

@booha thanks for sharing this. Sigh................that he has to halt all his activities after what happened including the variety show “My Little Old Boy,” Gosh.........this a bit too harsh. This was unintentional visiting a bar on his side. Choi Jin Hyuk had no idea that the bar was open illegally. Therefore, he mistakenly thought that there would be no problem with staying there until 10 p.m. This kind of stuff can happen. I heard that a total of 51 individuals were present at the business at the time, including the owner and several servers + the customers. It's just very unfortunate that he's one

of them there. Well, charged it to experience, CJH!    :crymeme:

I think this is oppa’s first scandal… :bawling:

As expected he is taking responsibility for his actions immediately but I am feeling very sad that he is halting his activities. :bawling:

I know I sound like an “oppa can do no wrong” defender, but isn’t it the establishment who should be punished? Why is it up to the guests to have to know which place they are allowed to visit?

@booha chingu, do we know how k-netz  are reacting?

@partyon same here - Ohhh.................SK.................Ridiculous that he needs to halt everything over something he had no knowledge of. We know that in Korea, actors and idols are getting severe backlash for the most petty reason. Ugghh........it’s their country, their rules. Here in my side, we're going to need proof of vaccination to get into dining in the restaurants now.  :emmm:

When I read this, it made me think about kid who got punished by their parent or at school and they told you to reflect on yourself ect ect.... I understand he broke the rules, but he did apology immediatly. They make it like he stole something or made fraud. SK shoudl reflect on themself, they want to show a country who is making 0  mistake. It is not the country who has the most case even in Asia. I know celebrity have an image to maintenant but it is really too much. There is a bit of hypocrisy in SK in my opinion. It is like they are breaking his career over a small mistake. I doubt it is an actor who do a lot of scandal.

I hope this isn't a career breaker..... it doesn't matter what kind of establishment he sought out. We don't quite know the details, tbh. Does Seoul/SK have an online directory where they list all allowed establishments? Are all bars banned?

I read some knetz comments and most are ridiculing his statement regarding that he was looking for "quiet place to talk to an acquaintance", since he got busted with fifty other people...

Some months ago I also saw Jungkook from BTS breaking some COVID ban when he was out  and about in seoul. he also immediately apologised, though he wasn't arrested, so I guess that's the difference here.

@agenth I don't understand? Are some people insinuating that oppa was caught in an adult entertainment establishment?

I am seeing people commenting that it wasn't a regular bar. :scream:

Actor Choi Jin Hyuk arrested at an illegal establishment, halts all promos

AVvXsEjpb5pZUwlCuE-qH5_9DPZQCy4SpT0D3ExG

original source:

Actor Choi Jin Hyuk caught at an illegal salon establishment “I was looking for a quiet place”… deja vu with Yunho

1. [+3,000, -9] ㅋㅋ Why is he talking as if he got caught drinking some beers with a friend at a pub… Everyone knows room salons are illegal and yet plenty of people get caught every day drinking in one with the shutters down…

2. [+1,562, -29] Why can’t celebrities talk to their friends at home? Why does it have to be at bars?

3. [+1,091, -23] It seemed like he was gaining some popularity recently and doing well but he’s kicked his own luck out the window

4. [+784, -22] ㅋㅋㅋㅋ He was always acting like he’s too innocent for this stuff but he’s actually into parlors, eh? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+752, -4] He was looking for a “quiet place” but this one happened to have 51 people inside ㅋㅋㅋ

6. [+184, -9] This dude’s a mania for room salons. I used to work at Jjumoh and he came at least once a week.

7. [+153, -4] Why do all celebrities end up at illegal bars while “looking for somewhere quiet”… Even a dog would laugh at that lie. Just apologize and be honest with yourself. The lying is what RickRoll'D people off.

8. [+125, -6] This is why I can’t stand celebrities… Acts all goody two shoes on variety shows only to be acting like this behind the cameras…

9. [+104, -6] So he was a room salon addict all this time

10. [+90, -2] If his friend suggested the establishment… he knew beforehand that it was a room salon with female escorts, right?

11. [+71, -0] “A quiet place to talk” let me laugh ㅎㅎ

12. [+72, -5] He acted so innocent and naive on ‘My Little Old Boy ‘ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ you can really never trust these celebrities ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

13. [+54] He really ruined 10 years of hard work he’s built up just like this

14. [+27, -1] ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘My Little Old Boy’ guests are always getting into scandals

15. [+7, -0] Aigoo… why couldn’t he hold back, at least for the sake of his career and all that he’s built up… Not even just a bar but an illegal parlor ㅠ

@willenette  @partyon  @Pitchoum @agenth

Thank you everybody for the comments   Ao5lAZF.gif

phew  I got my bearings back today

I know CJH doesn’t need this kind of headline but what I can say.  We know life is full of churns and whirls.  No one can tame it so we have to face it as best we can I guess.  Oh well I thought CJH’s kdrama career had come to end but I guess not.

** CJH’s statement about the incident

First of all, I bow my head in apology for causing concern and disappointing many people through this incident.  On 10/6, I violated quarantine rules while spending time with an acquaintance. It is my fault.  My acquaintance thought the bar was open until 10PM and I made my judgment very carelessly.

My heart is heavy and I can't help but feel sorry for committing an unforgivable act for any reason or excuse. Most of all, I am more humbled to know that everyone is working hard to overcome difficult situations together((covid)), and that many medical staff are struggling every day. Also, I am sorry for disappointing the many people who have supported me.

I will reflect deeply, reflect again, and always look around myself and my surroundings so as not to repeat the same mistake again due to ignorance.
Once again, I express my deepest apologies.

** Most of CJH’s k-fans said this was an unfortunate incident and hoped CJH would accept it as a life learning experience and be patient.

Am I the only whose not shocked by this news?

I think people forget that the entertainment industry is the devil's playground.

Lots of celebs are involved in these sort of activities. The more famous/influencer you are, the more vile the acts become. No one who is in the entertainment industry, especially the top actors/singers, is innocent. I think people need to stop seeing these celebs as angels when it's well known how corrupt this industry is. I just can't be surprised by this.

I am shocked because CJH always portrayed a very clean and scandal free image.

That’s not to say that it was always in the back of my mind that we can never really know his real image and that there is a possibility that one day a scandal will come to light.

It is still disappointing though. It’s a well known fact that Room Salons are a front for prostitution in SK and if the rumors are true that CJH was arrested in one, it is quite shocking to me. Also if the rumors are

true that he is a frequent visitor of these establishments (weekly basis is what is being floated around), it does change my perception of him.

To my understanding, women in room salons are treated like mere objects and if that is what rocks CJH’s boat, fine. But I will not feel the same about him anymore.

:(

It’s always the guys we least expect to be caught up in scandals like this ...

My guess is that CJH will be absent for about 6-12 months and then test the waters.

This will cause a permanent stain on his career though.

EDIT: I hope I don't offend anyone here. That is not my meaning. :kiss_wink: I am just disappointed that this situation has occurred.

I don't know what room salons are about

But this is really a blow to CJH - you know how the Knetz / Kmedia are.  You will be "ostracized" if you continue to appear in public, understandable why he has to lie low.

Guess we have to wait longer for his next appearance.

I agree with @partyon, it will change my perception of him too. I though it was just a bar, not something with girl they use as object. And he uses to go often, even if everyone do what they want, it is really disappointing.

i was often wondering why he is single….

I wonder if he will do the drama he signed for or if they will remove him.

I would lie if I said that the thought didn’t cross my mind too…

In any case, let’s see if we get any updates soon. Again, these are just rumors and nothing has been confirmed yet.

The fact is that he will have to put his career on hold for the time being and it will take time until we see him again (like @Min2206 said).

Do not think we will see him in a drama anytime soon.

If something, I hope that CJH learns from this experience and works on himself. With challenges comes the chance to develop oneself, so hopefully he will grab the opportunity. :kiss_wink:

@partyon about being single, I did not want to mix being single and going to this kind of bar lol. It was just a tought. He is 35, and I am surprise he seems to be single, but it is like Namgoong Min.

for me reflect on yourself depends  of the gravity of his action. Others broke the rules without putting their career on hold, like the Bts singer. I know he was taken to custody but he did not stay, it will depends but he did not steal something.

for the drama, did he not sign for 1 few  week ago?

After it will depends of the production if they want to remove him or not (if he signed)

i do not know him well, there is not a lot of article about him. I watched few drama with him. And follow him on IG but he rarely post.

ahh sorry if I came off too harsh. That's completely understandable.

At one point, I got use to the idea that the entertainment industry is an awful place. so I'm aware that the "clean" lives of celebrities are lies/fantasy. It's sad but you can't really climb in popularity or get roles in the industry without compromising at least once.

It's been a while since I've talked on here, but I do hope CJH does reflect and does better in the future <3

It is interesting to see, he turned off the comments section on Instagram.

It is always funny how celebs when they are in the wrong, they turn off the comments section. I know it is not the only reason for them to turn off it.  I  also know people can be really harsh when something happen to a celeb especially. More and more celb turn off their comments now or just let ppl they follow commenting.

Okay MUD didn’t completely erase CJH’s part.  They kept some of his part by only showing his back & voice & some other ways…

((This is just an assumption, what if it’s true under which I think we all made comments ))
However I want everybody to know that I appreciate reading your honest opinions about the situation because at first I felt the same way about a lot of what you expressed. tuutuu   Since joining soompi I have seen a few scandals big and small ((especially like kim Hyun Joong’s incident )) However I realized the way I reacted before was different because things happened in other houses.  Lol   It’s an interesting experience when the shoe dropped on my feet.   Phew so many conflicting feelings swirled around my head.  But your comments made me clarify what was troubling me and gave an answer about how I should think of it.

So if CJH did make any transgressions, I have to think that perhaps he faced some sort of problems/crisis in professional or personal stuff.
If things like that happened, anyone would first try to deal with it somehow/someway.   Then if this fails, I think one may try to escape by hitting the bottle or drugs or some other kinds of transgression.
I feel there is such a wide grey area between what is acceptable transgression and not (meaning from headshaking stupid mistake to a very serious one)  Besides it’s all subjective how we come to view it.

In Goong the granny queen says at 19, mistakes are a must as they help learn about life.  But we know learning about life doesn’t stop at 19.  Making a mistake and learning from it makes one grow better at any age.  So I feel if it is true about mistakes, one should learn from them and move on to enrich one’s life.

Btw I read a couple of comments which mentioned night life and how so many people are going to such places habitually.   It gave me something to ponder about Korean culture. Korea is a patriarchy. There is a huge gap between what is acceptable behavior for women and men.  The people feel drinking, smoking(okay smoking is losing its appeal a tiny bit) or some transgression is acceptable for men.  Also I have to say there is social encouragement for such behavior.  There is such stigma for men who don’t do these things as though they are not real men.  It’s such laughable hypocrisy.
