Hello everyone, I discovered Jin hyuk through Rugal. And uhh...the writing and direction didn't go so well in the end. :sweatingbullets:

But then I came across DJ and thought he was a great romcom lead. I also tried Justice, Last Empress, and Tunnel which so far seems to be his best drama.

I guess he really likes thrillers, but I hope to see him in more light hearted roles in the future. Zombie Detective sounds right up my alley. Hopefully it works out well for him!

@Skyline It’s great to see Choi Jin-hyuk (after “Rugal”) in comedy after a long line of serious roles. Can’t wait on August 31, a Monday-Tuesday drama. It’s an interesting premise. 16 episodes….

Choi Jin Hyuk Is A Zombie Who’s Better-Dressed Than Human Park Ju Hyun In Upcoming Drama

Choi Jin Hyuk Is A Zombie Who’s Better-Dressed Than Human Park Ju Hyun In Upcoming Drama

KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “Zombie Detective” has unveiled its main poster!

“Zombie Detective” is a new thriller comedy about a zombie in his second year of resurrection who becomes a detective and desperately searches for the truth about his past.

Choi Jin Hyuk will star as Kim Moo Young, the titular zombie detective, who struggles to adapt to his new life and coexisting with humans. Meanwhile, Park Ju Hyun will play the role of Gong Seon Ji, a writer for an investigative journalism program.

On August 17, the upcoming drama released a poster that highlights the stark contrast in personality between its two leads, who couldn’t be more different. Holding up a flashlight in one hand, Gong Seon Ji appears to be eagerly investigating a crime scene with a fierce look in her eye, hinting at her unrivaled determination and tenacity when it comes to justice.

On the other hand, Kim Moo Young appears noticeably mellower than the human Gong Seon Ji, sitting calmly on a desk as he prepares to break any preconceived notions about zombies. The captions also hint at his not-so-scary personality, with Gong Seon Ji asking, “There’s a zombie in our eventful neighborhood?” and Kim Moo Young responding, “That’s me… hehe.”

The unlikely duo breaks stereotypes about humans and zombies in more ways than one: not only is Gong Seon Ji tougher and more fearless than any zombie, but Kim Moo Young is also hilariously better-dressed than his human partner. While the zombie sports a chic trenchcoat over a collared shirt and trousers, Gong Seon Ji—who can’t be bothered to pay attention to fashion—is dressed casually in sweats.

Choi Jin Hyuk Talks About Playing An Unusual Kind Of Zombie In New Drama

Drama Preview   Aug 18, 2020   by C. Lee
Choi Jin Hyuk Talks About Playing An Unusual Kind Of Zombie In New Drama
Choi Jin Hyuk gave a glimpse of his character from KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “Zombie Detective”!

On why he wanted to join the drama, Choi Jin Hyuk said, “Rather than acting in ways that I can always do, I wanted to show viewers a new side of myself.”

Choi Jin Hyuk went on to describe his character. He said, “Because Kim Moo Young is a zombie who is pleasant and rather human, I think a lot of people will have fun watching the drama.”

He continued, “Kim Moo Young is not one-dimensional, and he’s a smart zombie who thinks of ways to live alongside humans. As opposed to other zombie characters, Kim Moo Young spends time with humans and experiences the diversity of human society. He also begins to understand them better after getting to feel a sense of affection.”

Choi Jin Hyuk shared that he’s similar to his character because they both carry responsibilities and have goofy sides to them, especially when Kim Moo Young tries to hide the fact that he’s a zombie. Choi Jin Hyuk added, “I paid a lot of attention to my looks in order to portray a handsome zombie who is cool, cute, and not very disgusting. Lately, I’ve been applying one face mask a day.”

“Zombie Detective” premieres on August 31 at 9:30 p.m. KST. Check out a poster for the drama here!

31 people infected with COVID-19 in Korean actors’ plays; K-drama filmings shut down to prevent infection

Spoiler

After Korean actors Seo Sung-jung, Kim Won-hae and Heo Dong-won were confirmed to have been infected with coronavirus disease, 28 other people involved in their plays tested positive for COVID-19.

Fear of possible COVID-19 cluster infection has forced Korean TV channels and production companies to temporarily stop the filming of Korean dramas for up to one week until Aug. 31 as South Korea saw a surge in new coronavirus cases.

According to the Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Aug. 23, there are now 31 confirmed COVID-19 cases related to the theater company San, an increase of five cases from the day before.

San is in charge of the plays “Jjamppong” and “Cattle” and according to the theater company, 41 members of the troupe underwent COVID-19 testing.

“Jjamppong” cast includes Seo Sung-jung, Kim Won-hae and Heo Dong-won while Seo and Heo are also in “Cattle.” The two plays were scheduled to be performed at Yohangza Theater in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul  from Aug. 19 to 30.

It started with Seo Sung-jong who got infected with COVID-19 on Aug. 19 that prompted the theater company to cancel the performance of “Jjamppong” scheduled on that day. Kim Won-hae and Heo Dong-won were announced to have the virus the following day.

Besides the plays, Seo Sung-jong is appearing in the KBS2 K-drama “Men are Men” and as a result of his infection, the filming was stopped.

Some staff in “Men and Men are also working in the upcoming KBS drama “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol,” which also halted filming to prevent any infection. In addition, Seo Sung-jong and Heo Dong-won are appearing in “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” that further complicated the schedule of the drama filming.

South Korea has confirmed 397 new COVID-19 cases on Aug. 23, bringing the total cases to 17,399, an increase of 2,801 cases in the last two weeks since Aug. 9. Of the total cases, 14,200 people have recovered and 309 have died, leaving 2,890 active cases.

The increase in confirmed cases has prompted the Korean government to raise social distancing to level 2, which mandates people to “postpone or cancel non-essential outings, social gatherings, events, or travel” and wear masks when they go out.

Surge In COVID-19 Cases Halts Some Korean TV Dramas And Film Releases

Spoiler

The surge in recent COVID-19 cases in Korea has started to affect the production of television programs and delayed the release of new films, slowing down the last few months’ increase in box office sales.

On Aug. 19, a total 297 new cases were reported, the biggest daily rise in reported cases since early March. Around 1300 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported during the last six days and among those positive confirmations were cast and crew members on some TV shows, forcing temporary production shut-downs.

One of the programs affected was the KBS drama  To All The Men Who Loved Me, starring Hwang Jung-eum and Yoon Hyun-min. Cast member Seo Song-jong, last seen in Hotel Del Luna, exhibited symptoms that prompted him to get tested, forcing the entire production to shut down. All the cast and crew members were tested and are currently under a two-week quarantine. With the exception of the actor who got sick, no tests have as yet been confirmed as positive. The drama has to date aired 12 episodes, but a few that have already been filmed may air as expected.

Seo was in the play Jjambbong with actor Kim Won-hae, who played notable dual roles in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Kim tested positive and promptly quarantined himself. However, he had also performed with actor Heo Dong-won, last seen in The King: The Eternal Monarch. Heo also tested positive. Heo has a role in the drama Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, which was set to air on Aug. 26, but now faces a delay.

KBS2 drama Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, starring Go Ara, Lee Jae-wook and Kim Joo-hun, was then forced to shut down production. Cast and crew members were tested and are currently under quarantine, which may delay the release of drama episodes.

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol actress Seo Yi-sook also has a role in the tvN drama Start Up which cautiously halted production until test results are known.

To date Korean TV productions have only suffered slight delays due to COVID-19.

Due to the rising number of cases, Korea’s film distributors and theater owners also suffered COVID-related setbacks. As cases prompted the government to raise the social distancing level in some areas to Level 2, restricting indoor gatherings to 50 people and outdoor gatherings to 100, the number of theater-goers naturally diminished.

As a result of the surge, the premiere of the film Fukuoka, starring Park So-dam, Kwon Hae-hyo and Yoon Jae Moon, has been delayed

Recent Korean releases, such as Alive, Peninsula and Deliver Us from Evil, had been drawing successively larger crowds to theaters, but the new restrictions are likely to hurt box office sales, which at best, were only a fraction of the previous year’s take.

Choi Jin Hyuk And Park Ju Hyun Couldn’t Be Any More Different In Poster For New Zombie Drama

Drama Preview  Aug 25, 2020   by C. Lee
Choi Jin Hyuk And Park Ju Hyun Couldn’t Be Any More Different In Poster For New Zombie Drama
KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “Zombie Detective” has unveiled a new poster of its characters!

Zombie Detective” is a new thriller comedy about a zombie in his second year of resurrection who becomes a detective and desperately searches for the truth about his past.

On August 24, the production company RaemongRaein revealed the drama’s newest poster, which depicts each character showing off their individuality amidst a creepy and dark backdrop.

Spoiler

Choi Jin Hyuk, who gives off an unnerving vibe in the poster, will star as Kim Moo Young, the titular zombie detective who struggles to adapt to his new life and coexist with humans. Meanwhile, Park Ju Hyun will play Gong Seon Ji, a writer for an investigative journalism program. In the poster, she appears as if she’s ready to take on anything. The two main characters each create a completely different mood as they preview an exciting story of coexistence between zombies and humans.

Furthermore, Kwon Hwa Woon, who will portray Cha Do Hyun, looks surprised while Tae Hang Ho and Lee Joong Ok appear to be in an urgent situation as characters Lee Sung Rok and Wang Wei. On the other hand, Hwang Bo Ra’s character Gong Sun Young seems rather relaxed. Next to her is Ahn Se Ha, who plays Lee Tae Kyun, and he wears an interesting shirt that reads, “ZOMBIE.”

“Zombie Detective” was originally planned to premiere on August 31 as a follow-up to “To All the Guys Who Loved Me,”((or "Men Are Men")) but its premiere was postponed after the ongoing drama halted filming due to the COVID-19 pandemic and canceled this week’s episode. KBS has temporarily halted production of its main dramas from August 24 to August 30.

The press conference for “Zombie Detective,” which was scheduled for August 27, has been postponed as well.
