Interview with Choi Jin Hyuk for "Zombie Detective "

――What kind of drama is "Zombie Detective"?

Choi Jin Hyuk: "Zombie Detective" may surprise my fans.   It's completely different from the roles I've played so far.   The taste of the work is also different from the previous appearances.   Compared to the zombie works that have been produced in Korea so far, the content is very comical.   In that sense, I think I made a completely new zombie thing.

 

――What made you decide to appear in this work?

Choi Jin-hyuk: I received an offer for this work when I thought that my image as an actor was too solid.   Since I was only appearing in serious and heavy works, I wanted to try works with a light touch.   At that time, the story of this work came.   However, this work was annoying because it was a zombie and had a comedy element.   But when I met the director, I felt good, so I decided to believe in the directors and try.

 ――Which of the scenes do you remember most or the one you want to see the most?

Choi Jin-hyuk: Rather than memorable scenes, there are many scenes where I was wondering "Is this okay?"   And scenes where I was embarrassed to play.   The zombies I played are afraid of humans and run away or frighten and tremble, but there are quite a few places that were ad lib.   I used to play that kind of play that zombies feel scared and tremble, but for zombies, it's different from the scary zombies I've seen so far, so it's pretty.   It's different from the scary zombies I've seen so far, so it's a memorable role.    It feels like the acting policy has become clear after unconsciously performing a frightening play.

 

――How did you feel when you co-starred with Park Ju-hyun, who played the role of Songji? Also, please tell us the episode you are co-starring with.

Choi Jin Hyuk: She's a lot younger than me, and this was her first co-star. She was very solid and had a nice personality like breaking bamboo.   I was good at acting, and I was jealous of watching it.   I think I enjoyed shooting. Both of them were able to play naturally, but thanks to her cheerful personality, I think that such a play was possible.

 

――I heard that you lost weight in this work. How did you lose weight?

Choi Jin Hyuk: I haven't done much to gain weight for a role.   Anyway, there were many sharp roles, so dieting is my daily life.   So, I don't feel uncomfortable or have a hard time on a diet.  Weight loss is so natural that it seems like one of your daily routines.   This time I played the role of a zombie, so I lost a lot of weight to make it look sharper.   It would be strange if the zombies were fat.   So I was more careful about weight management than usual.  It's like exercising a lot and adjusting the amount of food you eat. However, I don't have such strict dietary restrictions.   If I took carbohydrates in the daytime, I could finish it with salad at night, or I could reduce the weight by adjusting the calorie intake.

 

――It's a special role called a zombie, but did you have any difficulty in creating the role?

Choi Jin Hyuk:  At first, I was afraid of many things.   The role of zombies may look humorous, and it may be said that they are not good at acting.   I was surprised because it could remain in my black history.   I always practice acting in front of the mirror, and I study facial expressions and movements by myself, but I often laugh during the practice.  "What are you doing?"   It may have been difficult to get used to the practice.

 

――What do you want to do when you come to Japan in the future?

Choi Jin Hyuk: That's right. When I went to Japan, I had a fan meeting before, but it's quite difficult in this age.  I tried it online once, but I didn't get used to it until the end.  You can interact with fans online, but you would have wanted to meet me in person, and I also wanted to see your face.  I felt frustrated even if I couldn't see my face.   I felt like I was recording a program.   It was a shame that the audience wasn't in front of me.  When I go to Japan, I have a lot of things to eat.   I want to eat everything I want to eat and take a rest.

 

――Finally, please say hello to the Japanese viewers.

Choi Jin Hyuk: "Zombie Detective" will be available in Japan as well.   I am very honored and grateful as an actor.   It is such a work that Japanese people will like.   The zombies in this work are both interesting and cute, and you can feel humanism.    You should be able to enjoy it from various angles, so I hope you can watch it many times.

I hope that the situation of Corona's disaster will settle down as soon as possible and I will be able to go to Japan.
