엄마와 단 둘이 살고 있는 여고생에게 어느 날 남자 친구가 생기면서 벌어지는 상큼하면서도 슬픈 로맨스물. '사진'이 가지고 있는 기억과 추억의 의미를 통해 모녀간의 정과 젊은이들의 풋풋한 사랑의 감정을 매력 있게 그렸다. 이미숙·임수정·김래원 세 주연 배우의 호연, 깔끔한 화면과 연출력이 돋보이는 작품.

엄마와 단 둘이 살고 있는 여고생 민아는 맥주도 마시고 엄마 몰래 담배도 피우지만 비행소녀는 아니다. 오히려 맘속에는 온갖 장애를 뛰어넘는 운명적 사랑을 꿈꾸는 로맨티스트. 어느 날, 민아의 아랫집에 사진전공 대학생 영재가 이사를 온다. 활달함이 지나쳐 느물거리지만 결코 밉지 않은 영재는 민아에게 적극 애정공세를 펼친다. 민아 몰래 사진도 찍어주고 학교 앞에 데리러도 오고, 자신이 기르던 거북을 선물하며 환심을 사는 영재. 새침데기 민아도 그런 영재가 싫지만은 않은데….

★'…ing'(KBS 2TV 3일 밤 12:25) = 심장병을 앓고 있지만 평 범하게 학교를 다니며 별다를 것 없는 일상을 보내는 여고생 민 아(임수정). 민아의 유일한 낙은 엄마(이미숙) 몰래 가끔 창을 열어 놓고 피우는 담배 한개비와 록음악.

말이 없어 내성적으로 보이지만 알고보면 되바라진 면이 있는 소 녀이고, 동시에 혼자 사는 엄마 마음을 헤아리는 속 깊은 딸이기 도 하다.

어느 여름날 민아네 이웃에 서글서글한 성격에 말끔한 외모를 갖 춘 대학생 영재(김래원)가 이사를 온다. 사진을 전공하는 영재는 민아에게 사진을 찍어주기도 하고 학교 앞으로 데리러 오는 등 적극적인 애정 공세를 펼친다.

민아는 “첫 눈에 반했다”며 능청을 떠는 영재가 싫지는 않지만 마냥 즐거워 할 수만은 없다. 민아를 친구처럼 키워온 엄마는 드디어 남자친구가 생겼다며 둘의 연애를 부추기지만 민아는 이 별을 떠올린다.

'...ing' 는 촬영 당시 28세이던 이언희 감독을 비롯해 연출부 상당수가 20대 후반으로 구성된 젊은 감수성의 영화다.

한국종합예술학교 영상원 1기인 이 감독은 이 작품에서 데뷔작답 지 않게 안정된 연출력을 보여주었다. 2003년 개봉 당시 죽음과 청춘이라는 어울리지 않을 것 같은 소재로 상큼하고 새로운 영화 를 만들어냈다는 평가를 받았다. 예고된 죽음 앞에 선 소녀의 슬 픔과 담담함이 긴 여운으로 남는 소품. ‘장화, 홍련’으로 주?舟瞞?할 여배우로 막 떠오르던 임수정과 드라마 ‘옥탑방 고양 이’로 풋풋한 도약을 시작하던 김래원이 함께해 화제가 된 작품 .
