Yoo Seung Ho 유승호 ユ・スンホ 俞 承 豪

Recommended Posts

I've finally found one article, if I dig more I'll probably find more

Ahhhh this is casting news of the week. I don’t even know where to start with this, since there is so much development in such a short amount of time. First, Yoo Seung Ho (“Remember”) has officially been added to “Ruler-Master of the Mask.” Second, the drama is reportedly still being shopped around, however sources are saying that the series will most likely end up on MBC, since it has added PD Sohn Hyung Sik (Shine or Go Crazy).

The Segeuk drama is a story about a powerless 18th century Crown Prince, who fights against a group of powerful and wealthy officials in an attempt to take back power and control of his country. The series is currently being considered for the Wednesday/Thursday time slot and will  begin shooting sometime in December for a premier date in March.

The actor is definitely not an easy guy to get for a drama. Since wrapping up “Remember” earlier in the year, he has been offered countless leading roles, including the soon to be premiering “The Man Living in Our House.” Obviously this historical drama has something that peaked his interest, and that makes me very interested as well. I am waiting patiently for more news on this project.

upcoming period drama 'Ruler - Master of the Mask'
By Carlo Rodriguez | October 17

It had only been a year since actor Yoo Seung Ho was seen in the small screen but a year may seem like a lifetime for devoted fans who are anticipating the return of their beloved actor. Luckily for his fans though, Yoo Seung Ho will be gracing the television screen once again as he stars in the upcoming period drama 'Ruler: Master of the Mask."

It should be known that Ruler: Master of the Mask has not been finalized as the series' final title as of yet but according to reports, it will be a historical melodrama which is set in the 18th century. Here, Yoo Seung Ho will play the role of a crown prince who becomes the hope of the people as he battles a powerful secret organization that has been controlling the country from behind the scenes. The said organization has attained power and wealth by greedily privatizing water, an already scarce resource in the country, thus making the people suffer. Get ready to watch Yoo Seung Ho's character strive through the challenges and grow into the kind of ruler his people need him to be.

Reports say that the period drama wasn't the only offer that the 23-year old had received. However, he chose to accept the role as he had been captivated not only by the script but by the character he has been chosen to play as well. In preparation for his role, Seung Ho would have to strengthen his body as well as gain a good understanding of his character

Yoo Seung Ho isn't new to the acting scene. In fact, he started acting at a very young age and gained prominence in the 2002 film'The Way Home.'The actor has received various awards and prizes for the roles that he has portrayed over the years from different award giving bodies. His most recent role to date is in the film'Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River'where he portrayed the titular character. He also played a lawyer with hyperthymesia in the MBC TV series'Remember - War of the Son.'

Written by Park Hye-Jin, Ruler: Master of the Mask is scheduled to premiere sometime in the first half of 2017 on MBC while filming will begin in December after the roles have been finalized.

Yoo Seung Ho Talks About What He’s Looking For In His Next Role

Jul 24, 2019
by J. K

Yoo Seung Ho shared thoughts on challenges and his career in an interview with Singles magazine!

Since his discharge from military service in 2014, Yoo Seung Ho has become known for making bold choices in his roles and subjects while acting in seven works from the film “The Magician” to the drama “My Strange Hero.”

Yoo Seung Ho told Singles magazine, “Lately I’ve been trying to experience and attempt new things. I’m in the middle of learning more about myself while experiencing a lot of things and taking on challenges. As part of that, I’ve lately really gotten into enduro mountain biking.”

yoo-seung-ho-1.jpg

The young actor is currently considering what project he’ll be taking on next, and he also talked about the importance of trying new things in that regard. “I’m looking for the clothes that fit me,” he said. “However, as much as possible, I want to avoid roles that are the same as or overlap with something I’ve done before. I think now is the time for me to try a genre that I haven’t been able to attempt before.”

The first film that Yoo Seung Ho starred in was the 2002 movie “The Way Home,” and it will be returning to theaters in September.

Yoo Seung Ho said, “Movies that received a lot of interest and love in the past are re-released, so the fact that a film that I was in was chosen for that makes me so happy that I can’t even express it, and it’s such an honor. I plan to see it in theater right on the day it’s released.”

As an actor who’s already in the 20th year of his career, Yoo Seung Ho said, “When I was younger, the set was just a place of difficulty for me. Of course there are difficult moments now too, but I can enjoy it now and I feel a sense of responsibility. As time goes on, it’s also a fascinating experience to get lost in the character I’m playing. I’m certain that compared to in the past, I’m gaining a deepened understanding of my characters and ability to immerse.”

@rahma92 Soompi has translated some of it. I Will try to translate the untranslated parts.

YSH with kids is such a nice view. They're so lucky to have met him T.T

I am really fond of the photoshoot's black and white  pics. A mysterious and classy vibe emanates from YSH. If the pics were colorful, we wouldnt get the same vibe.

You think so ?  He is very sure of what he wants and what he is looking for though. I hope the next genre he chooses is horror and thriller :D

I've finally did the translation, not perfect but at least we know the content.

Yoo Seung-ho's Truth or False
Icon actor Yoo Seung-ho. The truth or falsehood of Yoo Seung-ho, who we believed to know well.

Q: Yoo Seung-ho is bold.
Yoo's growth has been openly witnessed by the public. The process of his settling down from a cute child to a boy to a man was relayed in detail through the media. In the process, Yoo kept his faith. After giving up college, he went to the army early, and after his discharge from the military, he chose  bold themes and characters from the movie "Joseon Magician" to the drama " My strange hero". Although he was bent on choosing his work, not all decisions were always the perfect answer. "It's not that I don't regret every choice. Especially college. As time goes on, I wonder how precious the experience was then and what I would look like if I made a different choice." Even when he admits his lingering feelings toward the path he never went, I don't see any calculation in his attitude. Of course, there is a choice that will never be regretted over time. He started acting. Even if you imagine it, you'll never get tired of acting or regret your life as an actor.

Q Yoo Seung-ho challenges.
As of August 2019, Yoo picked "challenge" as the word that represented him. "These days, I'm going to try and experience something new. It's also good to try something that isn't grand, such as going to a new place or eating foreign food. I'm getting to know myself by experiencing a lot of things and challenging myself."
Thanks to this, there has been a lot of change in his life over the past year. In recent year, he has enjoyed the fun of riding a mountain bike enduro. It is similar to what Yoo Seung-ho possesses in the sense that it is a sport that stimulates the desire for challenge by conquering the difficult road with one motorcycle. The opening of his SNS account, which has been a sort of "incident" among fans, is also a welcome change. This is because Yoo Seung-ho, who is not an actor but a natural, has been an unknown territory. "When I was shooting <Revenge>, I had an account that I had created and didn't use. I've always thought about how to get closer to my fans. And I have to keep up with the current trend," he said, explaining the reason for opening an account. Even now, considering his next film, his most important word is "challenge." "I'm looking for clothes that fit me. But I want to avoid overlapping or overlapping roles. I think it's time to do a genre that I haven't tried before. Of course I'm a little scared (laughs)."

Q Yoo Seung-ho is experienced.
Although experience and experience are not absolute standards for proving skills, this logic is at least for Yoo Seung-ho. Although the filming site and camera are packed with staff, Yoo is immersed in the concept.  Following the songs of singers Lee So-ra and Kwak Jin-eon prepared by the photographer, he raises his head and opens his eyes to make eye contact with the camera.Twenty years after his debut, the actor still says the scene is new and fun.  "When I was a child, it was just a hard place. I still have a hard time now but I can enjoy it now and I have a sense of responsibility. It is a mysterious experience that you have plenty of time for characters to act as time goes by. I am sure there is more understanding and immersion in characters than ever before. "When I talk about the number of characters ( 37 people) he has worked on so far during the interview, he said, "Is there as many as 37?" Rather than appreciating the accomplishments he has already achieved, he is a pro who waits for the day to immerse himself in a new role as an actor.

Indeed because he looks  young to be a doctor. When he says that, I wonder if he ever regrets to have acted in Remember, he played a genius lawyer. His answer makes me think he has realized his past decisions  were not right, when he was hell-bent to play in older characters in very serious dramas. Now he has let it go and doesn't fight against his youthful looks to prove he has become a man now. He accepts the way things are. My 2 cents.

Lol yes he is too young as a lawyer. But honestly remember is one of rare drama, same with IANAR. I think he really love to try a new thing. He is focus more to the story but not with the character. :sweatingbullets: what do you think?

Good question ! :D. I was curious about how he chooses his projects , I read his interviews and everyhting else to find an answer. I disagree, he actually cares a lot about which characters he will play. I think he prioritzes more the characters than the story.

 His statements :

Regarding Joseon Magician : " The reason why I choose this job is because I like my character and the director for it. He is great and reliable man. I was in the military for 2 years, so I might lose my touch as an actor. But I believe he will lead me to be a good actor, that’s why I decided to take this ".  http://yshbiased.blogspot.com/2014/12/interview-yoo-seung-ho-held-fan-meeting_26.html

Regarding Ruler :

"I've been attracted to the drama's tightly built plot and the role of Lee Seon. Through the drama, I plan to give a different image," Yoo said in a statement.

Ahh, he said that. Yess I can see how good the PD in Joseon magician. So he think about the PD too.

Because his drama felt so different with other mainstream drama. But not for his character. So I think he's more into the story than the character.

I don't understand what he mean about 'overlapping role' did he mean he will take a different character for his next project? :sweatingbullets:

Spoiler

I've always thought about how to get closer to my fans. And I have to keep up with the current trend,"

Now actors appear in reality show too, hope he know this. :D such a pleasure to see him in there

I don't understand what he mean about 'overlapping role' did he mean he will take a different character for his next project?

I believe he mainly chose  JM for the director who is known in Korea. He directed awards winning sageuk movies bloody rain and the concubine. The directing and cinematography  in JM was top-notch.

I think the same goes for I am not a robot. YSH had previously worked with the director in Arang and the magistrate and Jung Dae Yoon director, before working with YSH on IANAR, helmed  W. The popularity of W and the fact of already knowing the director impacted a lot YSH's choice.

Oh you mean Remember ? In this case,  maybe you're right.  He might have liked more the story and in my opinion what determined his choice was the writer, who wrote the script with YSH in mind and tailored the role for him. He was the one who asked to cast YSH because he believed he was the perfect actor for the role.

He meant that he doesn't want to repeat characters, playing a character that resembles to one of his characters. He wants to play a character that he has never done before.

I hope one day he will appear in a variety show. But I guess we will have to wait for a long time to see him in a variety show. If he wants to take a step closer to his fans,  he can create  a YT channel and posts some vlogs. These days a lot of korean stars have their own channel. It'll be fun if he vlogs when he is doing his hobbies or working on something, for instance a photoshoot, an event or a drama/movie.

Its a wonderful interview and I am so glad that he has an interview! which allow us to get a glimps of him and understand him more! I have read it and have a good think about what he said! the more I think about it the more I see he is very consistent  what he want! not a bad thing but not a good thing either! he dont want to repeat a role which is understandable! but a role has similar aspects will not be consider is a bit too hard! he is already very picky! Its wont be easy for him to find a role he like to play! he think he is too young for prefessional role too!! tricky tricky!

He sound like a wise 50 years old! somes I agree but not all! he sound 50 and I believes yes because he was in the business for so long as a young adult! but not for a young soul who still unsure what he is really looking for! he still searching what he want.. like trying new cloths and see which one suit him more! trying mountain bike to know what he want! I am sorry he lost all his childhood that he need to learn about life and grow from the experience! you can tell he really hate it when he is young but he know he has no choice but back into the acting business! he hate it but learn to accept it and get happy from it! but inside he still want to keep a distance if possible! that's why he dont work as hard as we wish him to be and get into the stardom he should be or he can be! some said let do whatever he want and we happy to see him one drama per year! yes.. that quite right! but dont moan when he pick up a so so project and the drama nothing special! because that's the business! if you don't get the buzz like the latest trending actors get! Big writer Big director will definetely looking for a Big actor! simple like that! his offer will be less if he carry on laid back and don't care about being popular or not! he does care about how is fans reacted to him! he cares about how his project being popular or flop! but he just dont have the desire to get there! which I find myself frustrated! If he just spend a few years working hard! try some reality show! few more CF! few more TV show!! a Big movie... just a few years of his youth before is too late!! he will be on top listed! a recognized adult actor and he can slow down.. like GY! Like HB! they can pick whatever they want! create Buzz whenever they appear to the cloud! but that's just my wish.. not his!
