i adore this guy.....he just finished When it's at Night....now he;s on Love marriage....oppa is on a role.....eventhough i think his image is a bit young to be pair up with the female lead.

He's such a cutie...and a talented actor from the projects I've seen- WIAN and now Love and Marriage...kind of feel like the next Lee Min Ki. NOT to say who's better, they are both good in my book. They just give off the same vibe to me. Cute and a little quirky, comedic, not afraid to take up interesting characters.

So glad to see him on tv more these days!

He's got a lot of potential... hope more pple will come to recognize him soon. Park Kiwoong Fighting!!

KBS <연애결혼>의 경환(박기웅) 은 세상에 흔히 널린 ‘전 남자친구’다. 연상의 여자친구 강현(김민희)가 꼬박 5년 동안 뒷바라지해서 사법연수원까지 보내 놨더니 툭 하면 그만두고 싶다는 말을 입에 달고 사는 의지박약에, 그러다 결국 헤어진 강현과 우연히 재회하자 사람들에게 “대학교 동아리 선배님”이라고 소개하는 비겁함도 갖췄다. 새 여자친구를 만나면서도 몰래 강현을 떠올리지만 강현에게 새 남자친구가 생긴 것 같자 볼멘소리를 하는 철없음은 어쩐지 박기웅의 앳된 얼굴과 딱 맞아떨어진다는 느낌이다. 2006년 초, 한 휴대전화 광고 속 클럽에서 미녀들에게 둘러싸여 무아지경으로 ‘맷돌춤’을 추던 청년이 바로 그라는 것을 떠올리면 더욱 그렇다.

“웃으면 해맑아 보인다고 하던데, 거기 속는 분들이 정말 많아요”

박기웅은 <연애결혼>의 연하남(왼쪽) 같은 느낌이지만, 그에게서 어둠을 찾아내는 감독들이 많았다.

“웃으면 해맑아 보인다고 하던데, 거기 속는 분들이 정말 많아요” 모처럼 촬영이 없는 날이라 집에서 그림을 그리다 왔다는 박기웅은 운동복 바지에 슬리퍼 차림이다. 애교 넘치는 눈웃음도 가끔 보이지만 그보다는 나직하면서도 흡인력 있는 목소리가 훨씬 인상적이다. 경북 안동에서 고등학교 때까지 자란 그는 대학에서 시각 디자인을 전공하며 서울에 왔다. “누우면 발이 TV 받침대에 닿고 머리가 벽에 닿는” 좁은 자취방에서 지내다 길거리 캐스팅으로 연기 수업을 받기 시작했다. 데뷔작은 K2의 뮤직비디오 ‘사랑을 드려요’였다. “감독님이 ‘넌 그냥 웃으면 돼’라고 하시던데요” (웃음)

그러나 박기웅에 게 “가만히 생각에 잠겨 있는 걸 보면 살기가 느껴진다”고 말했던 감독들은 그의 화사한 외모 뒤에 숨겨져 있던 서늘한 광기를 끄집어냈다. 영화 <싸움의 기술>에서 곱상한 얼굴로 담배 연기를 내뿜으며 학교 짱에게 “뒤질래?”라고 씹어뱉듯 말하던 전학생 재훈도, 영화 <두 사람이다>에서 사람들의 손에 칼을 쥐어주던 악마적인 소년 석민도 그렇게 태어났다. 오히려 <연애결혼>의 경환처럼 우유부단하고 유약한 캐릭터야말로 박기웅에게 가장 낯선 지점에 있는 셈이다.

“별명이 ‘연출부 막내’였던 적도 있어요”

하 지만 나이가 들수록 배역에 대해 점점 더 유연해지는 알 파치노를 가장 좋아한다는 그의 최종 목표 역시 연기에 대한 스펙트럼을 넓히는 거다. “연기는 그림처럼 혼자 처박혀서 작업하는 게 아니니까 현장에서 스태프들과 최대한 얘기를 많이 해요. 다른 사람들이 뭘 생각하는지 알아야 하니까 조명팀이나 촬영팀에서 쓰는 용어도 공부를 하고, 별명이 ‘연출부 막내’였던 적도 있어요” 그걸 가르쳐 준 것은 영화 <동갑내기 과외하기 2>의 파트너 이청아였다. “결국은 연기도 그림 한 점처럼 작품 한 점을 사람들이 함께 바라보며 맞춰가는 거잖아요” 지금도 고향에 가면 친한 형의 작업실에 틀어박혀 그림만 그린다는 미술학도다운 해석이다.

아들이 하는 일이라면 뭐든 믿고 맡기는 ‘방목형’ 부모님 밑에서 자라며 스스로 결단을 내리고 후회는 하지 않는 버릇을 들여서일까. 박기웅은 주어진 질문에 답변을 내놓기보다는 대화를 이끌어가는 게 더 자연스러운 배우다. 스스로와 현실에 냉정한 편이라 “애늙은이같다는 말을 가끔 듣는다”며 그는 웃지만 이렇게 분명한 색을 지닌 배우는, 아니 인간은 흔치 않다. <싸움의 기술>의 신한솔 감독은 아직도 술만 마시면 그에게 “너는 우울한 청춘이다. 무조건 그런 걸 해야 한다” 고 말한다. 동감이다. 그의 청춘이 가기 전에, 정말로 그런 걸 보고 싶다.

hes so cute and all sweet on LOVE MARRIAGE!, that drama with Kim Ji HUn and KIm Min Hee.

BUt i think hes wasted there because the lead seemed too old next to him. He resembled DBSK changmin, at some angle.

Clap for Park Ki-woong

My my, isn’t that a lovely picture of Park Ki-woong?

We last saw him in the romantic comedy series Love & Marriage, and now he’s got another drama lined up, this time for cable channel MBC Drama Net. On the 10th, the cast assembled at Dalmaji Park in Seoul for a ceremony to pray for good luck.

Not much info is available about the series, titled 서울무림전 (which translates roughly to Seoul Warrior Story), which is described as a martial-arts series. In it, Park Ki-woong and Jang Hee-jin (A Movie Is a Movie, Gangster High) clash and fight villains — she as a tomboyish martial-arts expert, he as a newbie with inherent skill but who must learn quickly as he goes from unemployed college grad to budding martial artist. I can’t quite figure out whether this is a fantasy-like action series or a realistic one (it takes place in the modern world).

The drama includes Han Ye-won (of On Air and formerly of girl pop group Sugar), playing someone with no aptitude for combat but lots of book smarts, as well as Moon Se-yoon (Hong Gil Dong ) and Lee Joo-seok (Special of My Life).

Behind the scenes are one of the writers of the popular daily drama Likable or Not (writer Baek Young-sook) and one of the directors of Auction House (which had a stable of rotating writers and directors), Lee Jung-ho. The 16-episode drama follows Chosun Police Season 2 and will premiere in early December.
