  1. it wasn't just me right, thought Defconn was trying hard to keep up conversation and he went on and on abt washing machines... Maybe all 3 of them are feeling the fatigue of the day. Way back, i thought Donggu would do well on a show like Law of the Jungle.  DG is just so task oriented when it's a physical challenge. Seemed like he showed some good improvisation and camp skills in the latest ep. Don't mean anything bad towards JJY here, even well b4 JY's recent issue,, I was thinking DG should try going on LotJ, but of course it's out of the question now. It won't be a good idea now and in the near future either.

Once again funny episode.  ...

Dong Gu still looks awkward and has not put down his wall yet but i know he is trying. I wish he'll let himself go and show his true self im sure he'll be more loved.

Yeah, I think he's still trying to find his footing here. I've been nervous for him ever since his first appearance, and still am. Is it just me, or I get the sense a couple of times that he was trying too hard, and it showed? He seems like a naturally competitive guy who wants to excel especially with physical challenges, but so far, he's been gracious during the times he flopped at games. (I like to believe he really flopped, not that he had to hold himself back and not ace most of the stuff!)

He's got quite a ways to go before he can be as unreserved as say, Cha Tae Hyun. That being said, at this point I quite like having someone on the 2D1N team as goody-two-shoes type who takes tasks and punishment seriously, and can even do a good job at it. Satisfying to see Dong Gu being so efficient at harvesting cabbages last episode.

  3. Just had to delurk... I'm watching this show only bcos of Lee JunKi and wasnt impressed much after the 3 eps, even though LJK did a stellar job, the pro that he is. May I be "reengaged"? (Did production team openly admit they did a poor job with editing?)

Pls kind souls, point me to the director's cut and live stream? I want to be convinced this drama is worth watching!!

  4. I've carried on watching the latest episodes, probably out of loyalty? The "unluckiest man" episode was kind of boring after a bit, because all the guests didn't have much to do apart from being sitting spectators, after they got eliminated, and it came down to only JSJ and LKS.

The new PD has big shoes to fill, and it's a challenge. The older episodes had a lot of wit and clever twists in the game rules, even if they were simple pursuit games. Don't see much of that lately.

Also nowadays I keep worrying about the members' health, because they are all much older now. Even the wrapping machine thing last episode I felt was a bit much. Moving in a crouch for too long really stresses the lower back, and twenty rounds -- brutal, and such a waste of plastic! I hope Gary is alright.

I'm mentally prepared if RM ends, or morphs into something else entirely. I'll be sad, but there's already hundreds of old episodes to re-watch.

Running Man in their early days relay drinking very hot/boiled coffee or drinks is what I can remember and old 1N2D whole lemon eating (not mentioning kkanari and salt water, spicy tteok) worried me for their health. Thank goodness they mostly stopped but their shooting hours (based on their HappyTogether guesting) are also cause for concern generally. I don’t watch much other shows so I have no basis for comparison if what they’re doing is nothing out of the norm for varieties but it is sure to be stressful for cast and crew and the editing team who are doing such marvelous jobs!

You are absolutely right, when i saw Defconn eating all 30 something ramyeon i was kinda shocked and quite worried for his well being. I mean the guy did drink 2 lt of soda pop for gods sake it was too much.. The others quit eating after an amount of time but for Defconn its continuous loop of eating because of his character on the show (and irl he seems too ambitious and competitive). Most of the time in winter i watched the show like "and now they are gonna get sick, oh cold water splash in winter with cold wind how marvelous, now they are gonna get pneumonia". But most of the time i assured myself by thinking that, "the members are the assets of the show, surely they are protecting them right? RIGHT?" Anyways i am worrying too much right?

    RIGHT?:sweatingbullets: :D

In some countries maybe like the UK, I think Health & Safety regulations are really emphasised, some times it can be a running joke that it prevents TV programmes from doing something seen as too risky.

I remember one of the worst things the RM crew did was the "choose-the-spoon" game, where they get to blind-choose spoons of all sizes to add sugar/salt to a cup of whatever they were drinking. Bad luck if they got a giant ladle! And they did that over several episodes. OMG, that was inhumane. "People can get sick or even die from this!" was what I thought. Then I thought they were faking it, then it seemed they weren't? I don't know if there was some kind of workplace protection clause in cast contracts. or any regulation in Korea that can deter irresponsible programming. And it's kind of counter culture in Asian countries to object outright to what a producer wants?

I'm guessing that they stopped doing these sorts of games due to feedback from the audience and fans. because ratings and profitability are what's motivating the "protection". Ultimately, if enough fans make noise, they'll have to listen.

Defconn won't be himself if he weren't big and chubby, and he prides himself on being a big eater, and knowing his food. But he's setting himself up for chronic disease later.I wish he'd eat a healthier diet, but it's almost like giving up his identity.  I think this is the price that foodie celebrities have been paying for the longest time, and there is no happy solution.

Itsy bitsy maybe unpopular opinion: I don't know if you remember the members once said this is the oldest cast of the 2d1n team (i mean age average) when KJH was present. maybe they want to break that and make a younger a more dynamic team.. Don't get me wrong but as the eldest Junho is in his 40s, he is willing to do everything but he is indeed getting older, so at some viewpoint they might want a fresh blood to make games harsher for members..

By the way, inside i still want Joo Hyuk back.. But in Yoo PD we trust :D

It's worrying how Junho and the others does anything, even the things that will harm themselves in the long term. For a long time, I've been feeling awful for the boys when they have to do something bad for their health, like binge-eating ramyeon, binge-drinking soda pop, etc. It was plenty of such stuff people were doing for tv from a few years back, not just on 2D1N, but on other variety shows too, like Running Man. There's less of it now, but I wish the production team would just stop using these type of gags where the cast are forced to consume junk food that will wreak havoc on blood sugar, blood pressure etc. But I'm okay with exercise games and sports. In fact, that might motivate the cast to get a little fitter.

  7. History lessons were boring for many because they couldn't relate to people and events in the distant past. Having the well-loved 2D1N boys take the viewers through a patriot's journey, and reliving his last days makes a deeper impression than any textbook can in this time and age. 2D1N that has gotten its viewers thinking about history in a way that relates closely to them. So many of us here are really inspired and touched by this episode. I'm thankful that I was able to understand this episode with subs. I cried some very deeply heartfelt tears watching this.

A TV variety show done right is a valuable cultural asset and educational tool. This Ahn Jung Geun feature was a masterpiece in edutainment. Those people who diss variety shows for having no value other than slapstick entertainment, they gotta eat their words.

@kookiemonsta Can they air it if they play mahjong for real? Since it considered gambling and KBS is public broadcast. JJY's new MV also have scenes where he played mahjong and it's rated 15+. I don't know if his MV can be aired during prime time in public broadcast or he has another version of MV without the gambling scene.

Really? I didn't think it from that angle. I see, mahjong is outlawed and considered gambling, even if no money is involved. I just thought that mahjong bit was showing the boys as were being their dumb selves, (not knowing the complicated rules of mahjong), and was pretending to be big-timers just for laughs. Anyway, a proper game of mahjong would just take too long.

Might that explain why i haven't seen Go-Stop on prime-time variety, apart from drama? But then our boys play wagers all the time, like 'gambling' at strip rock-paper-scissors with their modesty and a good night's sleep at stake. LOL.

I don't watch Happy Together much, but I'm making sure I catch the one with these guys.

  9. Ah finally watched the whole Harbin special. It must be so tiring for the crew. In such cold weather, usually pple just want to curl up in bed and sleep! Funny how the local tv crew wanted the boys to parrot-speak chinese, and they got flustered with Jongmin. A bit unreasonable? KJM not the brightest spark, but even if it's just imitating sounds, chinese is one of the toughest to get right.

I wished the boys were really playing mahjong...If they could play properly, guess who would be winning most of the time -- CTH?

  10. Was wondering if there was some scripting prearrangements going on due to constraints. Ji Hyo might have been game for the parachute jump. She seems gungho enough for that , but maybe they had to limit the number of jumpers due to cost concerns, and so she could be Monday couple with Gary? Just my hunch... (Man, if i could choose, i'd totally go for the jump!)

Got to hear more of Kjk speaking English--pretty good...

@hillaryd @pinkdolphins:Already in Hotel King, LDH looked so different fr her lovely Chuno days, i couldnt believe it was her. This time round, she didn't look much different to me. Still too skinny.

Kim Jong-kook - Lee Kwang-soo, “Heading to China with private plane~”

    Anyone living in Wuhan? :w00t::w00t::w00t:

Running man members are shooting there!

:wub:Check out their airport photo!!!

Wow, private plane! Is this to avoid the chaos of screaming fans so they can leave the China airport quietly by some private exit? Remember with fondness the crowds of fans waiting at the airport in Thailand and HK -- must have been a nightmare for security and the RM crew.
