There is now rumor that CoaBM will release around September (near mid-autumn festival/Chuseok).
If that's the case, I wonder if they'll be promoting at the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) since it runs around early/mid-September.  If it is, you betcha I'll be forking up the extra cash to get myself to the premiere!

  2. @ferlycious thanks for clarifying.
In general, I just hope that people will acknowledge the original source the best they can.  This is just to be fair and to show respect to those who made the efforts.

Both stations are heavily promoting EK, and HJW.  There's almost at least one news report related EK/HJW every day for the past couple of weeks.

  5. This article also states that Ha Ji Won went to promote EK in Taiwan for free. If that's true than it really shows how important a project EK is to Ha Ji Won.

    http://www.chinatimes.com/newspapers/20140617000923-260112

I can see why she would want to promote it and give it as much success as possible. This is her 'first' drama as a rookie in her new start with her own management agency.

  6. @Libera yes, HJW is recognized a lot for her action movies, but at the same it's also because of her choice of action movies that makes her stand out.  You may not be as proud of her achievements in choice of movie genres (action movies), but the media seems to be impressed by her action abilities.
There are a lot of times during interviews and TV segments dedicated to HJW, they don't just label her as 'action queen', they generally always include the following:
'Action Queen', 'Horror Queen', 'Melo Queen' and now 'Sageuk Queen'
Even in the current Taiwanese coverage, they still talk about her in Hwang Jin Yi, HJY was not an action drama.  They talk a lot about how she's recognized as a 'chameleon', she's able to take on any role, there isn't a role that she can't do go in.  HJW has already achieved so much that she no longer needs any awards to proof herself.  This was all coming from that most recent EK documentary broadcasted in Taiwan.
Yes, no doubt they emphasize her action abilities, it's a praise, not a put down, but they also recognize that she's able to do other genres.
Have we forgotten, the movie she's currently filming, CoaBM is not an action movie.  She's taking on a variety of genres based on the opportunity that arises.
It's not like she's choosing ONLY to do action movies, she's picking her projects based on the script.  If she receives a script and offer that she likes, she's not going to reject it because it's not action.
Like for EK, HJW herself said (joking or not), she didn't think she'd need to do any action sequences for EK because she would be acting the role of an Empress.  It was only after she accepted the project and read the script did she realize that she had so many action scenes.

  7. @the96butterfly I agree, it's unfair to say that HJW is 'wasting' her talent just because she prefers action movies.
In the Section TV interview, she was asked what she prefers between action and melo, she said action melo.
You can still express your emotions through your eyes in an action movie.  Just because it's an action movie, it doesn't mean she can't 'act' in the movie.
Take SeGa for example.  There was a lot of action in that, but at the same time, there was a lot of emotions expressed throughout the entire drama.
Korea.  It was a semi-action movie, but did she not have the opportunity to display her character's emotions?
Just like EK, so many people were complaining about how she shouldn't have taken on EK, it's a waste of her talents, why action again, blah, blah.
In the end, maybe only 20-30% of EK required her to do action.
Don't be so biased against action movies.
Keep in mind, the majority of the audience are not drama only watchers.  Dramas are good for displaying 'acting' skills, but it's not the only genre of movie where an actor can display their skills.
Most (good) action movies these days are not purely action, it's action with a story.  Take Johnny Depp as an example.  He does a lot of action movies, but he is still highly praised for his acting skills.  Why is that?  Likely because he is a good actor and is able to display his acting skills in any type of movie.
Don't discount an actor's ability based on their choice of projects due to the stereotype of that genre.

  8. Great news!
The last episode of EK that broadcasted in Taiwan on Friday had a rating of 2.25, it broke 2!!!
I think breaking 2 is equivalent to breaking 20.
    Source of info: Appledaily Taiwan
EK is currently the highest rated Kdrama in Taiwan.
I read that even Zhen Huan Zhuan, it was hugely popular in all of Asia (China, Taiwan, and HK) only rated between 2-3.  EK has about another 40 or so episodes to go, hopefully it'll be able to reach that level.
It seems like the Taiwan media are focusing a lot on Ha Ji Won lately, many of the interviews she did during her visit are slowly being released now.  We should have some more goodies to come soon :)
Full version of the EK documentary, the dailymotion links are missing the last part of the documentary.
    http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/RctI6jEV4LA/?lvt=2913&resourceId=0_07_10_28

Fairly good documentary, the first part focused quite a bit on Ha Ji Won.  This really acts more like a 'promotinal' show for EK and HJW.

  10. Wow there really is a lot of promotion and attention given to EK in Taiwan.
The information in the videos aren't that great/accurate, just praises on the actors, and talks a lot about Ha Ji Won since she was there doing the promotion activity.  I would say about 50% of it is gossip or and not really accurate.  Just watch it for the clips :)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1suwquN-_yo

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Lcnyl-PLe4

This one continues to talk about the high ratings and praises Ha Ji Won's acting.

Ha Ji Won says she there are still many characters she has not acted yet, and she would want to act out all the different characters that she can.  She wants to act in a project where she can be both the protagonist and antagonist.
Ha Ji Won also says that the real her is nothing like her character, she's very femininein real life haha.

Apparently there's going to be some sort of a 'documentary' type program focusing on EK this Saturday:

  12. @tieuyeunu I'm reading on Baidu information from Taiwan fans about ratings there.

Fated to Love You was like an anomaly to have hit average ratings over 8.  Nowadays, local Taiwanese series that hit over 3 is considered really good.  Few dramas will get ratings that high now.

Apparently there are like over 100 TV stations in Taiwan, so for a Kdrama to get even over 1 it's a success.
Even with the Zhen Huan Zhuan being such a big hit all over China/Taiwan/HK, the average rating was between 2-3.
I'm not an expert at the ratings, this is just information I read off of Taiwanese fans on Baidu.

I think the black dresses aren't that bad, it's more or less the angle and lighting like you said.
This one here makes her leg look weird!

  13. Ok, I don't know what rating is correct anymore, but we just have to know it's high hahaha.
I just saw another article that reported the June 10th rating at 1.85, but if they just copied the details from the other article that's wrong, then it's still wrong.
The details in the article is similar to the other one talking about how Ha Ji Won has left from her 3 day promotional activities in Taiwan.

  14. With all the interviews that Jiwonnie had while she was in Taiwan, many have not been released yet, so we should have 'new' news/photos/videos trickling in throughout the next few weeks.
One of the fans who was at the airport/press con/fan meeting said that Section TV was there, so we should have a video from Section TV soon.  Jiwonnie also did an interview with a Taiwan entertainment show (the photos posted about from the hosts Weibo).
Here's a BTS video of Jiwonnie during her photoshoot/interview with Ming Weekly.

That flowery dress she's wearing...it's open around the waist area... :x =P~
  15. NEWSFLASH, NEWSFLASH!!!!
Article Title (it's stupid) - Ha Ji Won beats Do Min Jun C  Strips down to seduce Ji Chang Wook
    ?w=640&q=80&src=http%3A%2F%2Fs.nownews.c

Although Empress Ki, Ha Ji Won, has left Taiwan from her 3 day promotional activities, but she's left behind a strong tail wind.  EK recorded a new high rating for the episode that broadcast after Ha Ji Won left Taiwan.
The episode that broadcast on June 10 had a ratings of 1.85 1.51 (correction, apparently this source reported the wrong rating, the correct one is 1.51) (as previously mentioned exceptional rating in Taiwan is only between 2-3).  The scene where Wang Yoo dreams of Seung Nyang flirting with him reached the highest rating point in the episode, 2.91.  The ratings beat out YWCFTS.

The upcoming episode with Seung Nyang and Ta Hwan stripping their tops in the cave to give each other body heat is expected to garner more ratings.

    (from 1:20)

I didn't translate the entire article because most of it just talks about the plot, and the 'skinship' scene, which we already know about.
