    Upcoming Episodes 18 - 20

Now that HJs Grandmothers death has moved to the forefront -- I am looking forward to how the writer will at last set HJ free from the emotional "millstones" that have held her back from "flying free" in both her personal (love for JH) and professional life.
-- Her abandonment by her father
-- The death of her Grandmother
-- Her longing to again connect with her father (this could be the hardest, most complicated for the writer to successfully have me accept)

I of course expect JH to play a major roll as he finally helps HJ to understand the meaning of the advice he gave her in EP 5 "The incident in the past can't be changed but your heart can be" - once HJ understands and accepts the meaning of those words she will no longer live her life focused on the past wrongs done to her.

I also expect her half sister YN and her lifelong friend SH who has steadfastly stood by HJ in all the good as well bad times - to play a roll in the HJs growth and healing as  she cuts the cords holding that millstone around her heart.29044249625_5e1045cd05_z_d.jpg28938846102_1a38b2d99f_z_d.jpg

Recent, over last few days, Posts about "haters" disparaging Doctors high ratings
My POV Observation on high ratings - I wander a bit - but reach my main point in the last paragraph.

Doctors (start mid June)--drama high ratings, SK viewers high interest-- Connection to Real Life SK and "The Korea Times" 10 Jun 16 Headlines--Embezzlement, Malpractice Scandal--  ?????????
NOTE-- While this coincidentally timely headline is business related, and thereby more like JHs journey - the usage of the word Malpractice could very well remind readers of the Apr  2016 Medical Malpractice headline and story of a mothers fight for justice- which is like HJs journey.
NOTE- I am not suggesting that the headlines in recent months are the reasons for  the writers story, which she had must likely already been developing for months/years.  But can not help but make a connection - IF I was a viewer in South Korea, recent real life events would certainly pique my interest to take a look at the Doctors drama now airing-- having said that- last paragraph in this post would be my reason to be hooked and eagerly await each episode.

Who can say -- not me certainly- but will say great timing on the release of a new drama which has a great heroine (HJ) trying to uncover and bring into the "sunlight" the truth for the reason her Grandmother died during surgery AND a hero (JH) who is trying to save his fathers legacy of a great hospital that is focused on health care for all and not to just make money -- his developing fight against a group of people who have moved hospital funds to their own "slush fund" to help them take over hospital leadership and refocus to a high profit VIP hospital.

Of course "where the rubber meets the road" it is the Great storyline focus on growth and healing, supported by such a wonderful cast that results in the high ratings.  The HJ JH love story with such great outstanding performances by PSH and KRW.  The OTP both have been given a relatable backstory- and an episode by episode growth and healing love journey that has viewers cheering on the OTP and wishing for a grand wedding.  This IMO is what makes and keeps the ratings high.

    PS ---- WARNING
WARNING for other members - within the last few hours I lost 96 likes- Soompi administration can not help - says all software problems resolved -- says I need a before and after screen shoot- of course It is too late to do that - but just took one in case I suffer another loss - only noticed the loss because after getting my last likes notifications - I saw that I was 2 short of breaking 4100.

    While awaiting Episodes 17 & 18
A look back at CKS aka puppy, whose role I expect to be more prominent in upcoming episodes--

CKS is smart, as reflected by the fact he is a 1st year resident in a prestigious hospital. Additionally shown by his immediate use of the Internets research capabilities to research the capabilities of HJ, the new Doctor/surgeon he will be training under for the foreseeable future.  Not to mention his seeming crush for HJ, having seen her street fighting skills in action.
--- Note CKS use of Internet to find info about HJ, also seems to highlight JHs own woefully lacking "skill set" in this area-- but I digress - I covered this in my page 403 Post.

CKS has a natural charm and is well liked by all who meet him.  Remains cheerful even with his current workload.

CKS Hard working-- puts many hours in as resident, but always stays on top of the cases he is assigned or comes across in ER - another sign of his intelligence.

CKS is also playful and mischievous- as reflected by both his crashing of the HJ gangster boss gift car of and the office dinner/drinking outing to Sooni Hawaii.

These characteristics of CKS has made him HJs "go to resident" when doing her rounds.  They have developed a fondness for each other.  For CKS this is a natural part of his charm - For HJ it is a sign of her growth/healing.  I really like the HJ CKS interactions, because these shows us the more open caring HJ then we saw in her past.  For me this is a sure sign of the wonderful influence SH has had on HJ during their 13+ years friendship.

The upcoming episodes are going to show us a sad CKS in pain and his future in doubt-- I am looking forward to how the writer will present this storyline- I think we will see HJ raise to the occasion and show her caring supportive side even more openly.  These are going to be painful episodes for both CKS and HJ.

CKS is certainly someone HJ cares for.  Foreshadowing - I hope not for CKS and his army brothers sake.

28283345503_87bd3c8502_z_d.jpgRecent postings death discussions --- I agree, to me this writer has been very precise in her writing, there are few, if any wasted "throw away" lines. The writer has put those death discussion dialogues in the drama for a reason.  Likely to build suspense/angst- if so, then very successful.

I also agree with those viewers who think that at the worst it will be a HJ or JH survivable accident-- I lean towards JH as the accident victim for two reasons--
    1. So HJ gets to the point where she recognizes her past means little to nothing- it is her future that counts-- says the words to JH conscious or not that she loves him (prefer he be conscious at the time)
    2. Also. This gives us a replay on the SC accident and shows a reset HJ who this time does not freeze - but reacts quickly thus saving JH life -- or some variation thereof.

This writer is not going to destroy such a beautiful growth, healing unique love story -- which I think will become a classic.

I think/expect that in Episode 17 we will see a major growth breakthrough for HJ.  During the last half of episode 16 we see that HJ still thinks only she should face and fight her battles  (MHs direct attack against her).  In the past episodes HJ has opened up to JHs love, but she remains reluctant to accept his help in fighting/resolving the battles/pain that her life faces.  She will face life's problems alone , only she will suffer, if necessary, any adverse consequences -- she does not expect or want others to help or put themselves at risk for her.
--During her childhood and youth (high school) HJ life experience taught her that she is on her own for better or worse - her Grandmother and JH gave her the encouragement to be a better person - but it was SH who showed her the meaning of friendship- friends do not let friends fight or suffer alone.  Even now it is only SH who she will accept help from-- she has accepted JH love, but still won't accept his help in her personal battles.
---- SH did not heed HJs words to stay out of the building fire issue-result a great lifelong friendship was born.  I do not think JH in this case can or will stay out of the Disciplinary Committee issue - a lover/friend will not let her face and risk her professional life that she worked hard for-JH, like SH, will not let her stand alone.

I expect/hope, as other viewers have posted-- that the entire Neurological team will help/support HJ as she faces the Disciplinary Committee.
--- I also hope, along with some other viewers, that SW is part of this team effort- that this is her point at the fork in the road and she picks and starts down the road of supporting what is right, not only what helps her.

By the end of Episode 17/18 I hope HJ will have learned and accept that their our people in the world she can count on, she does not have to be/or is always alone as she faces life's battles.

While awaiting Monday and Doctors EP 15

A look back at SH (Moon Ji In) IMO the # 1 best supportive friend in a drama.  In Doctors the writer has written and Park Shin Hye (noted in one of my previous post) and Moon Ji In have wonderfully Portrayed the # 1 Heroine and BFF seen in a drama.

SH has self identified in an early episode as not being smart- but IMO she has a naturally high level of emotional intelligence equal to SH high IQ "book smart" intelligence.  This is what helps make them such great caring supportive friends.

From the moment HJ rescued SH from the gangster girls in the ladies room-- SH with her natural intuitive feelings, recognized in HJ, that under her outward tough girl wall - was a kindred caring sweet spirit that was also in need of a supportive friend.

SH may not at first to have seemed tough- but SH would not allow HJ to remain in her lonely shell.  Her unrelenting persistent in breaking through HJs defense wall paid off and HJ came to realize that in SH, just like with her (HJ) Grandmother, was a person who truly loved her and would always not only wish the best for her, but would stand by her in the good and bad times.  A great unbreakable friendship for the ages was formed.
--- In the present period HJ buys SH a gift- SH says you must be thinking of your Grandmother as you always buy me a gift then- this shows that for HJ -SH friendship and support means so much to her.
--- They are each other's "Safe Harbor" when life's storms pop up.

with each cameo we are learning things and there are also things that stood out so obviously that some of had miss but was pointed out :) i remember how you notice the different of the wedding band in the stalker issues....

and how we all notice when Suzy / SooJin had gain awareness after the surgery she coil from seeing the stalker face......and how the nurses at the station was taken in at how devoted the stalker is towards SooJin that they didnt look above the surface that there are more than what meet the eyes till JiHong see the pleading look SooJin / Suzy shoot towards him in her desperate plead for help.....

also with each Cameo we learns of humanity struggle in the harsh world....like NGM appearances....and in the archer cameo we are learning determination to right and her quest to get herself better so that she can stand a chance to stood tall again and proof how wrong others were.....

while in SooChul we all can see that he saw HyeJung as a success and also as an example that he also can make something out of his life for a better future :) and from him we can see HyeJung pushes herself to be in better control of her own life

@angelangie  agree with your post -

Would add the following thought about Suzy/Jin Soo cameo -- I think it was also to sow a seed of doubt/thought in HJs mind - so that when the writer finally gives us more backstory on HJ, her mother, and fathers relationships - perhaps/maybe/could be -- HJ may have an OMG moment when she realizes that her view of her fathers actions were to an extent prejudiced because her love of her mother was so strong she could only see the worse in her father.

Just a thought-we know forgiveness will happen- Suzy/Soo Jin cameo may be the writers first subtle set up for that forgiveness--

Not to mention it was itself a great cameo and interesting/exciting storyline.  Oh yes, got to see street fighting HJ back in action.

EP 14 -JH determined to help HJ heal her relationship wound with her father.

At first, I thought JH was moving too fast in trying to get HJ to reconcile with her father- but then JH himself knew to slow down and take it a slow step at a time - using the same slow consistent steps/methods he first used to get HJ to accept his love.

JH truly a unique Kdrama OTP romantic lead, who IMO has adapted his knowledge as an excellent doctor to understand the steps needed to help the woman he loves to heal her pain.
-- JH see's HJ pain when it comes to her father and knows she would rather ignore it and cover up/reduce that pain by having him just hold her.  JH understands what she is doing and knows he risks his relationship with her if he try's to help her end the pain at its source (daughter father relationship) -- But JHs love for HJ is so strong he will take that risk, because he can not bear to see/know she has that long time wound and time alone will never resolve/cure that pain.
-- Having recognized HJ pain he must then determine the cause before he can move on to how to help her with the final resolution (cure).
---- It is here that forgiveness becomes necessary- forgiveness does not have to mean father and daughter weekly lunches/dinners with laughter and hugs- it can be as simple as an I forgive you as HJ then moves on with her life -— the writer will of cause determine/show us at what level HJs forgiveness becomes.

I am not a medical professional, so those with medical expertise please accept the point I am trying to make, even with likely missteps.

A patient enters the ER on a stretcher writhing in pain, incoherent and holding their head - ambulance attendant advises that patient was in a car accident.  Doctor checks for any external wounds, has vitals checked and makes first determination.  If only limited outward signs of pain cause, next step for MRI, X-ray, other internal exam methods.  To stop the pain requires that the cause be identified so it can be treated/cured-- the doctor can not just ignore the internal problem and use pain meds to just cover up the internal injury -- the patient can never be whole/safe if the internal cause remains -as it can/will lead to future pain.

Above second screen shot reflects JH moving into the MRI, X-Ray, stage.

Note- I have purposely not mentioned the abusive stepmother at this point in an effort to not risk the wearing out/breaking of my keyboard symbol keys- I may re- engage on discussing stepmother in the future as the writer brings more backstory into episodes"

Recent forum discussions about HJ being like her father- my thoughts, my POV only

First and most important-- NO-- HJ is very much a better person then her father.  HJ is a clear example that a person is not just a copy of their bio parents, she is her own distinct person - that in her case have allowed her to succeed against heavy odds - unlike her father who when the going gets tough- takes the easy way out.

Children being similar to, follow the ways of their bio parents always seems to be major Kdrama plot line used to cause problems for the hero/ heroine - it seems at least in "Kdrama world" if your father/mother committed a crime or murder then others will always pin that same crime on the child who can not be trusted - blood tells that the child will also be bad.  This also applies if hero/heroine is an orphan who does not know who their actual bio parents are- they are not to be trusted to marry their love, because that family does not know what the orphans bio parents were like.

Of course, children have some of the same traits  as their bio parents, that is how all creatures on earth evolve.  But they are not pre programmed to remain as exact copies of their bio parents - as they grow/learn, they move away from/change/modify their thoughts/actions to those that meet their own self-worth.
-- Did HJ in her teen episodes exhibit signs of feeling inferior-she did mention how others look down on her--but IMO also showed she would not let others dictate how she feels about herself.  She certainly did not compensate, as her father seems to have done, by trying to make herself feel better, by making others feel worse-
-- Some of us have likely had those OMG moments, when you realize in the middle of a conversation/event --I sound/act just like my father/mother-but that is only a limited natural occurrence given that you spend your early years under their influence.
-- HJ YD have been successful in breaking away from their fathers early influences and some of us in this forum are rooting for the moment SW has her own Awakening and breaks away from her fathers/grandfathers influence --to finally be her own whole person with her own human flaws.

I continue to await future episodes -for the writer to give us more HJ&Father backstory to gain sympathy so I and viewers will accept the inevitable moment when HJ forgives her father--
---Should be interesting- at this point the writer, at least for me, does not have a clear path to gaining my sympathy - but I have seen some very horrible jerks redeemed in other Kdramas - I did not always agree with their supposed redemption- but will see how this goes.
--- I almost always support forgiveness as a healing step for a better, more productive future.

Additional supporting observation in support of above paragraphs-HJ & Father issue is the second time in this drama that the bloodline issue has been brought up ----YD PR early episode conversation in which divorced, now playboy PR basically tells YD he did not want to be a man who cheats on women like their fathers, but he failed to overcome their bloodline which makes him act that way-- YD also fears he will follow in their fathers footsteps, but says he will fight to never be like them.  Sorry PR, but your excuse for your playboy ways, is just that - an excuse for doing what you wish to do.  Minor point, since the writer made sure to make PR come across as a good guy vs jerk.

I acknowledge that when it comes to the Nature vs Nurture debate- I tend to hold that nurture has the heavier influence on our adult self.

I think we all or most know HJ forgiveness of her father will happen - this is a Kdrama and writer has been building toward that moment from the point HJ hide across the street from her fathers restaurant and looked over at him longingly - a sad moment for HJ.

But writer I am counting on your skills to give us a backstory we can accept--
---Do not make it out, as I have seen in other dramas, where the abused party becomes the bad guy/girl to make the abuser more easily accepted.
---I am hopping for a better "sob story" then the one HJ father is currently trying to sell (see screen shot above) -- feeling inferior or having an inferiority complex is a difficult painful emotional handicap- But it is not a "free pass" to act like a jerk and emotionally abuse a wife or to standby as your daughter is both emotionally and physically abused.

At this point in drama it has not yet been revealed how HJ mother died or if the father actually was having an affair -- But the writer has certainly lead some of us to believe HJ mother committed suicide because the father left her for his mistress and then that mistress became HJ abusive stepmother.

Also, A point was made in articles about the Doctors drama that HJ half sister YN was to be a major player in the father daughter reconciliation- therefore I expect we should being seeing her again soon- should be interesting how the writer brings YN back into the story.

28626360542_476b9780b7_z_d.jpgEP 13  & 14 Another great set of episodes--HJ JH were wonderful, as was the supporting cast and Namgoong Min cameo was built into a great storyline of how a fathers love/undeterred caring looks vs the horrible example of HJ Father.
I will likely add posts about HJ JH & Others as I gather my thoughts -- but for now --I will first post my thoughts about SH and AJD--Since I had previously stated my wish for more SH scenes and the writer/PD sure gave us some great SH scenes.

Writer, PD, Drama Casting team -- Great job, nice change up-- even if SH AJD do not end as a couple- I am throughly enjoying their interactions together- and can't help but root for them-- if they end together this will be another unique pairing for this breakout Kdrama.----Note-Unless I am mistaken (wouldn't be first time)-With exception of HJ/SW--AJD has had the most screen time with SH.
--  I really like/am impressed with how the writer has written  the character of SH - she is so much more then the cute jolly friend- it has been made clear by the story, that under SHs outer joyful personality- resides a core of steel that will against any outside (family or other) pressures stand up for the truth, no matter the consequences she may face.
-- Absolutely enjoyed each scene SH was in - in this and every episode.  Thought the SH AJD scenes made her a more rounded in depth character

My previously  posted thoughts about SH AJD-remain current and I think add to this drama discussion point-since the story may go this way---plz see below

Extract of my page 500 post at end of EP 10 discussing SH Possible love line-----
---Extract of AJD part,  after discussing SC & PYG (K?) possibility
"Therefore, and I really hesitate as a write this likely to be "panned" post- could it be a SH AJD connection - ----
-They have interacted twice so far, both funny scenes, and SH has shown that she is not thrilled by AJD physical appearance.
    - AJD is a nice, friendly guy, gets along with both the other residents and the nursing staff, he is smart (the fact he is a resident in a prestigious hospital shows that), he seems very caring, (made sure supplies were on hand to take care of CKS aka puppy inevitable passing out at the staff gathering.)
-But clearly he is not your standard Kdrama good looking guy--
-AND that maybe just the "shake up" this drama wants to show.  After all, SH saw past HJ outer tough girl shell to the real warm HJ - she is just the one who, if the writer goes that way, could also see past AJD outer appearance --
--interesting concept, I would support - others dramas have recently pushed the supposedly less then beautiful heroine love story - I say supposedly, because no matter how much they tried, the heroine was undoubtedly beautiful under her wig, frizzy hair, drab ill fitting clothing, or other methods tried to make her less beautiful.
----Note- I have viewed a number of the recent dramas with this concept and have found them enjoyable with a good message."
    ---End extract ---

SH hold on - looks dim, with only 8 episodes remaining - but your man is in the cast somewhere ---HJ has JH, SW likely YD or YG, IJ and JPR very likely -so there must be an SH and ?
---Writer I want more SH screen time as she is a joyful spark of light and always brings a smile--- Also writer you already told us about her brothers being a Prosecutor and a savvy businessman--so I expect SH and her brothers to play a role in helping team HJ JH vs SW family team in the Hospital political plot-

    SH Possible Match's another look
-- YD while not really normal, prickly personality attitudes, but really a good caring guy- so he does remain a slight match possibility
-- YG Seems to like SW and also has one of the nurses shyly interested in him
--  SC seems to have left the building and YD Uncle JPR sure looks connected to IJ

That leaves KSC aka puppy, KKJ and AJD

Depending on if the  writer will again be connecting YD to SW (I think this likely) then that frees up YG who seems to be the pick of many for a SH match.

I am frankly open to any of the above (except JPR)- if SH match is going to happen it needs to happen soon

Wild card could be the Namgooong Min cameo (article posted  by @Kasmic)
This could make a short, but nice SH match storyline -depending on his character role.  But realistically, like the last cameos in EP 11, 12 - his cameo will likely be medically related, and he probably will never see the inside Soon Hawaii- but hope for a good SH match can never go unmentioned

@sunflower001. @sunflower001  I agree your post page 651--IJ and YD uncle make a good couple and add the following---- YD Uncle =JPR ??

EP 12 Based on past Kdrama rom-com storylines --IJ JPR sure look like a couple to be.

Looks to me that a IJ JPR Love line is very possible

Have been friends in UNI, both have divorced, very comfortable together, both outstanding, dedicated, caring, general surgeons from well off families.

We don't know much backstory history (beyond above) -- but who knows how JPR felt about IJ during their University period (could get a flashback).  But early episodes point to JH having been IJ crush during that period and for sometime after, but not now. Therefore, she would not have given JPR a second look in the past.  Current period tells us JPR is very much the playboy- but this could be him compensating for his long lost first one sided love of IJ.
----Since the writer has a made a point of making JPR look like a good guy vs what a divorced playboy hitting on all women would usually be shown as in Kdrama-- I think compensating for lost love is a possible backstory.

If the writer goes this way - I would board the IJ JPR ship.

At the beginning of EP 12 JH says in front of his fathers memorial that he is starting over--- then in the hospital he runs into the assisting/in training doctor from HJ Grandmothers surgery getting off the elevator - who basically makes clear to JH if he wants to know something then he (the now doctor) also should receive a benefit ---- JH surprised me with his answer - he says he can make a deal- the assistant doctor says he will think about - this shows JH is not wearing "rose colored glasses" and understands in a not perfect world you must sometimes make a deal with a low life.  Now this is a JH who I can see taking on SW Father and grandfather -- looking forward to seeing JH in his new more steadfast role- no more flight, looks like he will stand and fight, both to find the truth on HJ Grandmother surgery and who was behind pushing his father out of his position by discrediting his name.  Note-based on EP 11 JH and father conversation - JH is basically aware of what is happening and already doubts SW Father/grandfather - KTH is also aware of SW Fathers intentions - a HJ JH KTH team will be an unstoppable force for good.
---Between HJ &JH they will apply pressure to this assisting doctor who is the "weak link" and break it apart--SW Father is about (in future episodes) to find out he should have been more careful with records (the assistant has medical documentation) and how to treat people. Of course in this case SW Father disregard of people works in HJ JH favor.

  15. 28281834410_19f5c43fb3_z_d.jpgEpisode 11 with DramaFever subs--Turning Points, some JH backstory, and Character re-emphasis as the drama enters its next phase

-Biggest turning point is of course HJ words to JH - (already covered by many posts)- that show she is open to and wishes to have a deeper meaningful relationship (love) with JH- her walls in regard to loving a man have fallen in a spectacular fashion, but her fear of abandonment remains strong- the biggest surprise to me was her actually stating and making it clear to JH how strong that fear is.  She is truly a strong forthright woman- having made her decision to accept JHs love and understanding how strong her love for JH is- she opens herself up fully to the man she loves and makes clear what she expects and will accept nothing less from him - or their relationship can not move forward.

No order of importance for rest of my EP 11 observations/take aways

-SW Father and Grandfather conversation in fathers office (@21 min) makes It clear that both a medical mistake occurred during HJ grandmothers operation and that he has made a number of medical mistakes in the past.

-JH backstory -JH and father hospital room (@approx 6 min)-that even having such a loving adopted father, JH was mostly on his own while growing up.  Also later in the episode another conversation lets us know that JH is fully aware of problems his father is having and that he wants to help him, but father wishes he only focus on being a great doctor/surgeon.

JH already changing - HJ KTH meeting in KTH office to discuss Disciplinary action committee (@33 min) - KTH points out to HJ that JH is concerned about her AND actually he asked a favor from him-based on scene/dialogue it looks to me like this is the first time KTH has seen JH ask for help (favor) as he has always seen JH doing things solely on his own.

SW Character, possible changing for the better turning point at some point in near future (2-4 episodes???) - HJ SW meeting in their shared office (@27 min)- Starts off with SW saying it was her who reported HJ gift (this IMO is one of SWs consistent good points, she is not really devious, she hates up front, when she is mad or dislikes, she makes it clear), then goes on with basically HJ telling SW that it was her choice to hate her, just like it is other people's choice to like her- she (HJ) does not make them do that - Nice surprise - SW acknowledges the truth of what HJ said and wonders out load why she is like that-her facial expression shows deep thoughts about this, IMO it is not just a passing thought/remark.
Note- I applaud Lee Sung Kyung portrayal of the conflicted SW who wants to be nice, but just can not yet get over her feelings of inferiority when she puts herself on a scale with HJ and feels that scale tips in HJ favor.

IJ- Is back, is mature, is nice and appears (at this point) to no longer have feelings beyond friendship for JH and not just supports his love of HJ, but is acting like a change agent when (@ 32 min) she points out to JH that on her long experience with him that--"I think you unconsciously don't let people deeper into your life"-- she then follows this by basically pointing out that when in love, if one person is not open then the other person feels lonely-- this is very much how HJ is also seeing JH and why he must change.

-Nice, caring KSC aka puppy and sweet nurse -Are Back- (@ 18 min) they finally tell the truth on the gift car problem and tell KTH it is their fault that HJ could not yet return it, since they drove it and had an accident which requires car repair.

-YD continues his dorky, child like, honest nature throughout his limited scenes- I agree with those other viewers who posted that if not for JH, (who IMO is without doubt that main love line for HJ) --that YD could be a good match for HJ- but in this drama that will not happen.  I continue to see a possible ending with SW when/if she makes her turn to the good person she wants to be.

A few more scenes could be added, but already have gone long, so will end here, copy and paste in Soompi.

An important mid drama episode- continues with great writing, storylines, acting.  Now to back read many many pages.  Looking forward to viewing EP 12.

@Kfan7172, going back to a conversation that you started a couple of days ago, we had discussed a scene in the preview where HJ says: "I'm going to not be able to live without Teacher, but then if Teacher doesn't love me any more, then what will I do?"

When you watch the entire scene, thanks to a link from @Kasmic (sorry I can't seem to insert the link into this post, but if you want to see it, it's on page 580), HJ actually says:

"Speak with me properly, please. As the man inside the teacher, please date me properly. Do you know why I said that I would tackle my study (referencing her search for the circumstances around her grandmother's death) alone? I don’t want Teacher to be in danger because of me. I’m desperately trying to block the darkness that is entering my life. I know that Teacher is a man who would give me everything, and even go find things that aren’t there for me. If I receive everything from you, then I won’t be able to live without you, since my entire life will be provided by you. While giving me everything, you won’t let me put even a foot into the your troubles. To the man I love, I want to give everything also. If that man’s life has a dirty cast, I want to support him. However, Teacher is always alone. You don’t need anyone other than yourself. So living like that, if you decide that you don’t love me, then what happens?"

Maybe because I translated both of those separately so recognized it and was struck by the differences, I was thinking how previews can give hints, but not give the full flavor of a scene, and sometimes can be downright misleading because they chop and change things around. Even the preview statement above is actually two parts of different sentences in the longer statement in the actual scene. Is the lesson not to trust previews too much? :)

Anyway, I'm glad that it is so consistent with Hye Jung's character to go up to JH and want to discuss openly rather than brood on it too long.  In the scene, JH looks uncertain and conflicted, but hopefully, that is a precursor to him deciding he wants to be with HJ and wanting to share himself with her as much as he wants to share in her life.

@stoppyse thanks for your call out- it appears you did not see my post on page 564 or I am not sure what point you think I may have missed in regards to previews?

Also thanks, for your timely translations in this forum and in two other forums that I am not active in, but do check on currently on air dramas I watch.

    My pg 564 post extract--

WOW --- what a wonderful difference having the full context of HJ statement to JH has -- based on the short dialogue clip given in Ep 11 - it looked to me like HJs defensive walls where with moments of going back up--- But full conversation between HJ JH as provided by a number of viewer postings -- it in fact appears that her walls have smashed to the ground under JHs consistent restrained efforts to show HJ how much he cares/loves her.

Looking forward to viewing EP 11 with subs to get a better understanding of the whole HJ JH dynamic --
Great job writer, PD, editing staff -- your preview got our interest, caused us (maybe just me) some concern and made us all eager for full episode.

So, the initial translation was slightly off on OHJ's statement. She actually says "I'm going to not be able to live without Teacher, but then if Teacher doesn't love me any more, then what will I do?" So, she's actually posing 2 conditional statements.  That IF she gets to the point that she can't live without him, and IF he decides he doesn't love her, then what? I think that since HJ is a thinker, considering such conditions is in character.

Also, with the phrasing, I'm actually wondering if it's an extended conversation with Yoon Do or with Ji Hong.  In the preview, Yoon Do is the one who actually says "...so that means you don't love anyone" and I think was referring to HJ not actually loving anyone as yet, though I think that it was credited to a statement about the women in neurosurgery considering someone an ideal type. Yoon Do then follows that by saying "It means that without considering Dr. Yoo, I'll continue on my own path."

We find out on Monday, I guess.

@stoppyse - Thanks for the clarification of HJ statement/thoughts in EP 11 preview.

Agree- HJ words/thoughts are in character.
IMO she is a thinker and planner as well as a doer who will not let a situation remain unaddressed for long.  I see from her now clarified words/thoughts that her walls are close to going back up-- JH you need to act NOW.
-- I hope these are words said to JH - not just her inner thoughts or said to anyone else - to me they show her real fear of ending up like her mother.  JH must know/understand how imbedded into her heart this fear is.

Doer-She does act when a situation occurs, without hesitating in a clear straightforward manner ---such as the EP 1 ER incident where time was critical,

Thinker- When time is not critical, step back, just for a moment and think what must be done- YD situation - she knew he was interested in her, time was not critical to resolving at that moment, but she does not put it off for long and allow it to grow stronger for YD to think he may have a chance--she has thought about it for approx a couple of days and come to the answer that romance/love,  if she is going to be open to it - then only JH could be the one -- Now is the time to make clear her answer to YD and she accepts having lunch with him,

Planner- She wants to know the truth of why her grandmother died and bring it out into the light- She knew she could not do that as a High School student- she has planned what she needed to accomplish to be in a position to find that truth- she has now reached that point in her plan and has moved into putting it into action- she will discover the truth.
HJ is a genius and my #1 Kdrama heroine - she has been able to build a plan that also meets her own dreams and her grandmothers- Her grandmother wished her to be a doctor and I believe her time with her mother had already had her thinking of being a doctor and her helping JH save the pregnant women solidified her own dream.
After all, with her intelligence she could have, if her only thought was to bring to the light and justice (prefer this word to revenge, as I think it more clearly matches what HJ is doing)  her grandmothers death by becoming a great Prosecutor.

Only a day away from finding out the context of HJ statement - another great episode for sure -- Now time to back read all the, for me, overnight posts.

@lclaraklThanks for your response to my page 515 post -- my English sub quote for ep 1 @48 minutes -Grandmother HJ conversation about her mother came from DramaFever - seems your site was more detailed.  As I think you mentioned in one of your previous posts -- this drama writers words/dialogue are very important to understanding the story-- Agree and therein lies the handicap for those of us who do not understand Korean, but love Kdramas-- I am sure I, at least, miss many subtle meanings in the dialogue that could result in me going down dead end paths- of course I am more then capable of going down a dead end path even if I fully understood every word in the original language dialogue.

But, I remain thankful for all/any sites subs, without them I could never have discovered and found how much I enjoy Kdramas -- I like that they start and finish In a reasonable time limit- do not like dramas that go on for years.

In any case, I am hopeful that as the drama moves into the HJ and father forgiveness episodes (and it will-Kdrama law) that we will discover much more of this critical part HJ life, that has done so much to shape the HJ we see in the present.
