  1. Thanks for the images @sugarplum892 and OST @morningdew

Just finished ep 10, and am sad that I don’t have a double episode. Hurry up and come Monday! lol. Unfortunately, they left it at such an epic cliffhanger: just before a match. No! I need more episodes!!! 45 minutes goes by too quickly. Feeling deprived so I went back & already restarted watching from the beginning episodes. Sigh. Drama Addict.  (I am also rereading the novel to compare as its broadcasted.)

Who else has pulled out their Rubik’s cube to work on while you watch this series?

    :wow1:

Are ya all having as much fun as I am??? :partyblob:

  2. Watched the first four episodes; only the first two subbed in English are out on YouTube, but if you search on the web, you can find out what else is out there.

    Anyways…first impressions:

I like it. It’s good to see what I’ve read about come to life.
Putting my thoughts below in spoilers in case peeps don’t like to know. Keep in mind that I’ve seen episodes 1-4 already.

    Spoiler

    What I liked:

Interactions of the lead actors. LS may seem like an angry bird, serious all the time, but he sure likes to taunt and tease his girl. Heh.

TY is super cute! She can dish it out but be contrite the next moment. Plus she pulls out that lollipop like she’s a cute lil manga loli. Forget that TY’s ex is having a hard time letting her go. LS is going to have his hands full with this tiny bomb! hahah.

The game graphics are drawn pretty realistic. (Granted, I know NOTHING about LoL or any other computer game equivalent to it.) Unlike some dramas that portray half designed gameplay, these seemed well done to me. Felt like I was watching an animated scene from a Wuxia drama.

So what I have a bit of a beef with:

Most of the characters are like they are in the book, however, the Mom is not as supportive & TY’s lil bro is absent (not sure if he’s been deleted totally or just missing temporarily) and K is more grumpier than the male lead it feels like to me. There are also a bit of different scenes, ie. TY doesn’t accept ZGDX’s mid position before flying to the Spring Tournament Finals game, and her bestie suddenly appeared at the game with her too. Plus MingGod’s retirement scene didn’t evoke the same level of emotion that I got from the novel. Then, the story became a lil choppy around the time that they show the game play. The flow seems to go too fast for me. I mean, I’ve been a seasonal drama watcher for over 14 years, and if I have to stop and pause the drama to understand what’s going on, I am worried for others less experienced. Hah. Also, I’m complaining a bit about the cropping of the actors heads off. Like the top fourth of their heads are cut off. And they zoom in REAL close. Not sure why the production designed it that way.

Soooo, if one can get past a few negatives, you’ll enjoy the storyline.

I’m looking forward to this story. When I got done with episode two, I wanted episode three. Then episode four. So that’s a good sign in my book. Hopefully I’ll be triggered to keep on watching till the end. Hope you do too.
    :thumbsup::D

  3. Hi @Table122000 Funny that you brought up using the voices of the actors; just before I came back to check soompi, I was saying to myself that I hope they don’t dub the voices. :joy:
Trailer seems sad; hopefully whatever else they tease us with will show the good times too. “About is Love” story was so impressive, if it’s the same writer it should be well-written.

Hi @pad-hari I hope the airing date comes soon too. And that’s too bad about Angelangie leaving, was hoping to get her opinions too. Anyways, looking forward to seeing how this show goes down.

(Not to go off topic, but has everyone been doing okay with Covid and life? Hope all you soompis have been safe and healthy!)

  4. Hello ya all!!! It’s been a long time since I came onto soompi, but I was apart of the group that follow About is Love the original series. I hope to share this drama with all of you as well. :fullofhearts:

    Hope to see @thunderman1 @raziela @pad-hari @sugarplum892@Table122000 (And I apologize; I know I left out others’ names.)

***Anyone know whatever happened to @angelangie? She was a big contributor to AIL.

Cannot wait to see this soon!

  5. Perhaps someone can tell me:

I am curious to know from those who have read the novel (or understand the raw Chinese episodes), approximately how long has Zhou Fei been away from her home, traveling with Xie Yun til episode 38? It’s hard to tell if it’s been 1-2 years or just months, unless it was stated and I missed. From the novel, I thought, she was 13-16 years old when she left originally, but as the remainder of the novel isn’t fully translated into English, I do not know the length of her worldly travels with him. Anyone know??

     :Please:

    More episode 39 spoils.

He’s been carrying that hair tie the whole time since she left it behind in his palace. That little piece of fabric is together with his memories of her probably the only thing that is keeping him sane in the in-between and he still gives it to her. To have the one excuse to touch her because even that one fleeting touch means everything to him.

Thank you for highlighting this...I was bawling buckets of tears when I saw him giving that hair tie to her. I was like, “wait! You’re just giving her that?! NOoooo! Kiss the stars out of her!” [But then she’d probably slap some handcuffs on him and then he’d be in big trouble there...he don’t have time to be arrested with time counting down (Also, he don’t need sexual assault on his “record” along with being LJH’s family’s suspect perpetrator in 1994)... :wub:  lol. I digress.]

Going back to your thoughts: it was very poignant how he touched her. That skin-on-skin memory has to last him another 4 years (her time; I can’t calculate the timing of the in-between worlds place) until he can hug her, IF he can hug her in time. I loved how he slid his fingers up her wrist and lingered there, like he was imprinting that touch into the deep recess of his brain. And I have to comment on how that must have impacted JTE. His touch must have seared into her memory like a hot iron. So much that in 2020 when she remembers her memories of meeting him in Gwanghwamun, that she tears up and says “If I don’t do this now, I’ll probably regret it later.” And hugs him hard.

I absolutely LOVE this drama!

    1. We still have LL in the current timeline who is 1994 LL. Since 1994 LL did not believe 2020 LL, he will continue with his plan, fail and be the LL that we have now.

Delurking. Love love love everyone’s theories, rhetorics, explanations, recaps and sharing pictures/videos. Thank you, oh wise ones! *airhugs*

Not sure this has been discussed yet:

Edit: Yes it was. Hah! Sorry, I was 5 hours late to cover this.

My thoughts on LL: now that the 2020 LL was killed by his 1994 past self, he ceases to exist in 2020. Because the 1994 LL will continue to do exactly what the 2020 LL has done already. Yo-yo Flute Boy/Girl says, “So, the traitor failed to save himself. Instead, he created the monster that he is today.” So he’ll go to 2020 doing the same things, and then travel to 1994 AGAIN to try and persuade his past and get killed AGAIN. It’s a loop that he can’t get out of...maybe. LOL. (My thoughts are a bit sketchy) UNLESS, 1994 LL has gotten wise enough when he realizes that the coup failed and changed his plans (again). BUT somewhere in this second loop, LL gets caught by JTE and SJ and that’s why we see that scene in episode 1 in the police station with a bloodied LL in handcuffs. Probably due to whatever genius things 2020 LG does to the future-past.

I’m not 100% sure about this, but wanted to contribute some thoughts.

Who else is a tad confused of all this timey-wimey shenanigans, like YoYo-Flute Boy/Girl hoped LG wouldn’t lose his timey-wimey way back to 2020? “Will he return safe and sound without getting lost?”

Also, I never played the game (haven’t logged on for a few days-hello 300+pages!) but I always thought it was LG that saved himself. Lee Min Ho’s stature cannot ever go unnoticed.  *wink, wink* (Shout out to City Hunter fans!)

Thanks again to ya all’s contributions. This has been an extremely fun ride reading.

  8. @skibbies Wow, thanks for the eye opening background! That may affect a lot of people who have LOL connections on whether they’ll watch this or not. As for myself, I am one of those in it just for pure entertainment. Since I know nothing about the players nor the game it doesn’t hit my emotions in a negative light, however, I can see how those who are completely aware of the reality would be in an uproar. Had you not said anything, I’d be oblivious. So thank you for enlightenment. When I was on dramapanda website, I did notice that some of the characters names are different than the novel, so perhaps they are changing things up, but that doesn’t make it right.

    Spoiler

    http://www.dramapanda.com/2020/05/xu-kai-and-cheng-xiao-headline-e-sports.html?m=1

This article has the characters names in the pictures.

All things considered, plagiarism is a very serious issue, so to those whom are deeply affected by it may choose to avoid watching this drama entirely.

Thankfully, this forum has a mature audience that allows both sides to have their say and be civil about it too.

Thank you again @skibbies Appreciate you sharing what you know behind the actual story.

  9. Hi everyone! Can’t wait for this to come out. I’ve read the English translation of the novel up to what’s currently out, and love it!! Love the strong, quirky main leading lady. I hope they maintain her persona from the novel to drama. And of course the smitten tsundre male lead. Cannot wait to see Xu Kai bring this character out. A Shout of Thanks to @sugarplum892 for opening up this page, and @angelangie for your ever consistent drop of visual goodies. We can count on you to always give a feast for the eyes! :D

Do we have an air date? I saw on mydramalist it’s supposed to be in December, but I wondered if that was definite.

  10. Hi everyone! Thanks for everyone’s insights and theories!

    @Calligrapher

    Re: your FF -

Love your style of writing and thank you. Hope this drama inspires you to write more!

I don’t think I’ve cried this much in a drama since Healer. DO’s expressive tears and swollen red eyes are gut wrenching. This is my first time watching something of Kim Hye-Yoon’s and as a drama watcher over 12 years, she’s climbed the ranks of my favorite Kdrama actresses in a week. lol. Can next Wednesday come any quicker? lol.

I think this is a misunderstanding.  The original poster asked a hypothetical question if Jin Woo ever considered having Sec Soo kills him to see if he can find out where dead players like Dr. Cha goes

Ohhhhh man; I was really confused. :sweatingbullets:  I definitely missed that poster’s question. Thank you for explaining.

I think programming wise, will be hard to have an alliance like secretary guy kill Jin Woo and still remain friend.  He would be turned to an anemy

    Hi,

Just delurking to ask: why would this alliance be hard? Why would allies have to kill each other? When Jinwoo and Dr. Cha first came up to each other in the game, they were given the opportunity to become allies or enemies. Forgive me, I’m not too familiar with gaming, but wouldn’t you be allies with them up until the end of the game? So won’t Jin Woo and his secretary be on the same team and get out of the game together? I can imagine that once they meet up with SJ and if they become allies, then perhaps they will have to battle the other player that was against SJ originally. And maybe once JW is out, of the game, perhaps Dr Cha will “log out”/ RIP too.

@ddeokbokkii I was just thinking about the Emperor's edict before. Considering how condensed Moon Lovers is and the fact that the Emperor is unlikely to live for much longer, the ways I think it could go down:

Spoilers for BBJX and potentially Moon Lovers

      Reveal hidden contents

Whilst it's possible for the Emperor to leave behind a similar edict, I don't think we have the time or the situation for it. It has not been shown that 14th is a favourite of the Emperor nor has Jung has the chance to shine in battle, or even shown to be in love with Haesoo. I don't doubt he loves her, but for now it's still more as a dongsaeng than as a man. The Emperor might do it almost out of annoyance if 4th and/or 8th keep pushing to marry her, and he wants to put a stop to the infighting. Another option is perhaps for the Crown Prince to make the edict when he becomes Emperor, or even Yo just to spite his brother, but it's shaky reasoning.

Likely So won't honor the edict anyway, but I'm thinking maybe we don't even need one in this version.

It's debatable how much So knows about the romance between Soo and Wook, because on one hand, they were super unsubtle, but his comment about Baek-ah could suggest he is not aware. For someone who feels with such intensity and whose love is all-consuming, it may be possible that the fact she was so in love with Wook enough to warn him against So - which likely triggers the battle between them/the conspiracy that harms Baek-ah - could be enough to push So to the edge. And if Haesoo lets him believe she never truly loved him, or that she still loves Wook, or that Jung's feelings for her is reciprocated, it might be enough to push him over. It might not even be marriage, but perhaps he'll consent to her leaving the palace in his hurt and anger?

After reading your spoilers, I had a huge thought: "What if....

    Spoiler

The Emperor issues an edict for So to marry YH, since she was his favorite daughter. Kinda like what the Emperor did for the 14th prince in BBJX. But then he dies before it comes to fruition. Therefore, So doesn't marry her until his hand is forced by Emperor Yo (or someone else: could Wook become Emperor before So?)...this may give more explanation to why he marries such a sly fox in the first place...if they do marry at all.

    Just my random thoughts..."

Btw, hello to all! Hope you don't mind me joining for a bit. I've been a silent lerker since ep 2, but my disquieting thoughts needed an outlet this evening. Thanks! Love everyone's recaps, thoughts, analysis, pics, gifs, and mvs. You're all amazing. Thanks in advance for live recap!!

@taskdramafanatic *profusely blushing* Kamsaminda chingue for liking my story. I want to write more but haven't the time nor the experience. (I am a busy housewife and Mother!) However, after reading your fanfiction, I throughly enjoyed you're version of KC's point of view!!! Daebak! Please don't say such negative talk about your writing, because it gave me such great feels! I love how you captured KC's desperation and panic, to his relief at seeing YJ again. The deep love we have for W just pours out, and overflows. I bet there will be more people (who are better at writing than me! lol) after W ends. The end of dramas such as Faith and Healer produced some mighty awesome fanfiction. I look forward to seeing more of your thoughts. :) And thanks again for appreciating mine.

They forgot that KC was created based on YJ's ideal man. After reading KC's whole story and became sympathize for his tragic lost of his family somehow made a deep mark in YJ's heart. Remember when YJ said she was crying with KC when she read about KC's first trial to kill himself because he was desparate to live? It just needed a trigger to make that feeling grows into love. So for YJ, KC's existence has been already in her heart for long time. So when YJ saved him and saw him in real person. in blood and flesh, how could she ignored him and just let her father went to kill him?

That subtle feeling for Chul grows bigger when she kissed him for the first time, she touched her lips right? Same thing happened in ep 11. It sent another tremble to her heart that lead her to fall for KC. People said that YJ shoudn't be that heartbroken must forgot about this.

For YJ it just made her fell in love with KC more til the point of no return. How could they expect YJ won't suffered after losing KC who jumped off himself from the rooftop in order to protect her? That is insane if really happen to a person. Watching love one killing himself before your eyes is cruel and beyond words to say. And to add more YJ had to erase herself from KC's memories in order to keep everything back together. It's painful things to do. So when YJ felt so heartbroken is should be easy to understand and relate. Losing someone she loves dearly before her eyes and made him totally forgot about herself is really painful. It's not about how long they both invested their time together but it's more about how much you gave and invested your feeling and yourself in the relationship.

Both KC and YJ are willingly to give up them self in order to save one another.

About the marriage it is legal tho. Although it happened in W world. They are husband and wife legally in paper. That's why Mr. Song was worried about the finance things. If it's not real, SH won't be disappear. Their rings indicates their bonding as a couple. YJ's ring is still exist meaning their marriage is real. Although I'm not sure what happened to Chul's ring. I hope it will appear again as he finally remember what happened before.

People who said their marriage is a fiction fail to see these connection.

    Sorry to cut your post

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your post! You said it so eloquently, exactly what I had been thinking and feeling when I read the negative recaps at that certain website. I hadn't posted cuz of time, but you said it even better than I could. Heheh. Was totally feeling @maryofbethany's anger and frustration with their lack of understanding. Some may have a harder time looking deeper into the context. Thank you for breaking it down into such detail. If only those people would read what you said, perhaps they would change their understanding of YJ, and be more sympathetic. In my book, she's one of the greatest Heroines in KDrama to this date, along with Park Min Young's character in Healer. :D Thank you again for such wonderful words. Love this site which enables us to express our feels!

How is OYJ going to explain KC to her mom? Is she going to keep him hidden in her room like two teenagers trying have #4 moments?  (Four has become my new favorite number by the way) I don't think her mother would agree to have him sleeping in her room even though she's 30 years old.  The preview scene looks so cute because her room is so small compared to KC's penthouse.  I'm expecting some fun OTP scenes for the next episode since KC is going to start to "chase" OYJ.

I'd like for her to explain to KC about the cutout manwha taped to her window. ROFL! (Poor gal was desperately missing him! She better get some proper pictures of him and her...like in a tux and wedding gown...eating ice cream, taking a selfie with him cooking spaghetti...) :phew: :D:wub:
