Cry a river... I'd totally love/kill to see this. If my dead fish memory still serves me right, they ran out of time filming at the end. I think they wrapped on the same day it aired the finale. Back then a lot of kdramas at the end were rush, rush, rush - the celebrities all ended up looking bloated with dark circles and eye bags.

@scrawford @Heretorant The videos from 8 years ago (directly recorded from SBS) were bad quality. There are other versions that the sound are not so loud & no noise can be heard through the speakers. And also there are BLU-RAY DVD version available on Amazon Japan for purchase. Edit: Not many stock left!

Edit: Ahhh it is 500 nyang! :bawling: Angry Daejang is so so hot.

Does the Japanese Blue-Ray DVD have English subtitles. Some may not.

Im not regretting, i almost cried on episode 4 when choi Young refuse to be treated and he was so cold and harsh to Eun so.

You did warn me. But i love that the romance is taking a back seat for now and we are focus on choi young and the tension within the kingdom. It makes you feel for him and the glimpse of the romance makes it sweet.

That's why i wish Choi Young character would get Lee Gon production value.

Oh, darling LMH age like a fine wine, you know...the kind i like to drink ;) But 2012 LMH still have that Boyish feel and i feel like 2020 LMH could pull more mature and refined Choi Young

My gosh, what did just come out of my mouth????? I love Lee Gon, I love him and he is perfecto!, but i wish Lee Gon got 24 episode and more focus like Choi young had.

Right?? Right?? we should write LMH next script. I want a revamp for choi young

@mademoisellesia where can I watch that better video? resource??

Viki.com version is very good.  You should try watching Faith there.

I really love this scene and LMH's expression. He looked so young, vulnerable and defeated.  Awesome.

@scrawford As you go watch further episodes you can't help but be impressed by CY's devotion to Imja. CY is an honest general with no ounce of greed or self.

    Choco with the Hooman! :fun:

Thanks for the 8 letters video, LMH and Choco are adorable and just cute. Was it April 2019 though or before MS?

    My favorite LMH lines:

CY: If I can have you,I will protect you forever. Not just today, or for a couple of days.....

LYS:  Because of faith. The faith that citizens have that the politicians they elect will act in good conscience. The faith that soldiers who enlist to protect their country have that their country will protect them. The faith that universities will turn out talented people, for the sake of our next generation. The faith that businesses will both suffer with and grow alongside their workers. And the faith of twenty-one men who were promised by their country to be met off the shores of Nampo. Protecting that faith is my cause

LG:  Have you been waiting for me?  That is a relief, I was a bit scared that you didn't want me to come back.

@CarolynHSo many choices, so hard to pick only three. Finally,

    • genius regressed to a child because of an illness, requires award winning acting to achieve that.  Similar to Charlie, Cliff Robertson.
    • Innocent man framed and on the run. Escaped from prison so framed and prison break at the same time :D
    • soldier (navy, air-force)

I liked refugee, struggling single father without a job, forced to steal so arrested and lost custody of child,  detective, bank robber and gamer.

    1. Cheon Eum-ja's pet is what?

    2. What does the King call the two leaders of the Suribang? (@Heretorant was close but not entirely correct.) And what does Choi Young call them?

    Snake?

And to think, LMH was the 3rd actor to take on that role.  He was not the 1st choice, remember? 1st was Lee Joon-gi who had to bow out because his MS papers came early.  Next was Kang Ji-hwan, who was caught in a legal dispute between his new & former agencies.

Faith was so riddled with problems from the very start and LMH, once again rescued it from not being filmed at all. And this was after US$10m had already been spent on the production & promotion of the LJG version. No wonder it also ended on a sad note with the director committing suicide. That is the tragic fate of Faith.

I believe it was his least favorite drama at the time of the drama, because of all the issues, the low ratings, and the money woes so they had to improvise and change a lot of the story. He was glad to have it done with, except he probably enjoyed the camaraderie with the actors and KHS,  the only silver lining.  Many did not get paid, possibly even KHS. Not sure though if LMH was paid, there were some stories that he was paid but we don't know for sure.  KHS and the others did sue the director and that is one of the reasons he killed himself.

Later on when he realized how his character was loved by so many,  he changed his mind and is probably now his favorite role.

Yes, a Netflix drama can not be also bought by IQIY. I'm the VIP member of Taiwan IQIY, I watched LOTBS on it. But this time, I had to watch TKEM on Netflix. I don't know how many years of TKEM's right on Netflix, maybe they will never release the right of their original series to other stream sites ? But LOTBS now is on both Netflix and IQIY Taiwan.

LMH always disappeared for a long time after a work, but this time, it seems all people in every corner of the world are missing him so much, from here to Weibo to DC.  :sad1:

Some other actors can't wait to sign on to a new drama or movie but LMH likes to take his time and chill out. :D

I wish i can quote the picture as well, but i know i can't. YEs!!! i don't like too muscular, his heirs body is perfecto! and i want him back to that body, and his face isn't gaining weight because he was gaining muscle, plus if bloating is his main concern, he might want to cut gluten and/or dairy from his diet, cause those two are very inflammatory food.

Oops, did i just gave diet advise in LMH's thread? heheheh....

If he eats noodles, ramen the night before his face will swell up. The GB director made him run or play basketball to get it to get back to normal.  I read somewhere that he has a weak kidney or some other organ that causes his face to swell in the morning if he eats certain foods.

Your description matches perfectly with the character of hyun bin in memories of Alhambra. Though I was shattered by the ending but the character development of the ML is really commendable in that drama.

Would love to see LMH play such a multi layered character.

    :heartxoxo:

I liked Alhambra a lot because it was different genre. Gaming gone awry. I liked the story more than the characters themselves though I liked PSH. LMH a gamer would be a different role.

Transformation of Korean Actors From Being Thin to Having Muscular Bodies which Attract Fans

In the entertainment industry where physical appearance is a very important factor, it's no wonder many Korean actors always try to look their best.

At the beginning of their debut, several Korean actors were known to have thin bodies. But through hard work by doing exercises in the gym, fans are now thrilled of their masculine appeal thanks to their muscular bodies.

A post on Theqoo's website highlighted the transformation of a series of Korean actors who are now more muscular. These actors are admired for the drastic changes on their bodies.

Here are the transformations of Korean actors before and after being more muscular:

    Lee Min Ho

    https://www.winnetnews.com/post/transformasi-5-aktor-korea-dulunya-kurus-kini-makin-berotot-bikin-penggemar-panas-dingin

I looked at the whole list. Apart from LMH and one other person, the rest are too muscular for me. :D

@Wis dom Do you know how it works if Netflix decides to do a TKEM 2? Do they write the contract, pay the actors and writers and decide the budget. How did it work for Kingdom?  Do you know?  Will they contact LMH with the offer?  I am really curious. I think Kingdom is the first Netflix Korean drama series.

He has my favorite body type. Anything more is too muscular in my mind.

Those hard rock muscles are too much. Then their breasts look too big and hard too IMO

Hey, but I still love his gesture and the look in his eyes. They were so intense. Hahaha

Btw, I am still recovering from the tragic scene where he should take the former king's life to get him out of his extreme pain caused by poison. It left a deep impression on me. The most gut-wrenching scene imo

Yes, that scene where he had to kill the king and then face the look of horror from ES  left a deep impression on me. The other part I love is when he hugged the ex-king when they met and he gave that sweet smile. That is my favorite smile from him. I have it as a desktop on my laptop

@Thong Thinme too, Love to see LMH in pain.  I still remember all those scenes in City Hunter when he got shot .

Love that kind of reactions from his eyes !

Me too, loved the look in his eyes when he got shot and when he hurts. Looks like @scrawford, you and me get the same gut reaction :joy:

They don't watch Kdramas these people they were just following what everyone else was watching. They mostly spoke about LMH visuals, the beheading kiss and some of them said flat out they wanted LG-JTE to have seex:joy: and that's a very french thing to do

Curious if your colleagues are White or Asian? They don't mind reading subtitles? A lot of Americans do not like subtitles.

Haters claim LMH is famous because of his looks. If that is true, all we need are pictures, photo books, we don't need to see him in a drama or movie. It is because we love his acting that we want to see him in dramas and movies not merely photos in magazines and newspapers. Enough said. :hwaiting:

I LOVE this post!!  I think many Minoz agree with me that you wrapped up everything no nicely and with fairness! Thank you!!

    - Yes anyone would have been interested. No actor would reject KES. Because well ... Like How Lee Min Ho is Lee Min Ho.. KES is KES.. Influential name!!

    - Yes, only reading 1-4 episodes and he then had to trust the production team

    -  Yes, stay away from Writer Kim, BUT if she can write a good script, which we KNOW she can and she WILL in future, I don't mind a Third collaboration in 3-4 years from now. I know we said that if LMH and KES work together again, some may complain and say Blah Blah... But by then, LMH has already released good movie and drama and proved his acting even more. But it depends on Writer Kim, don't know if this crosses her mind in future. It will be nice to collaborate again some years from now AND give a us wrap up party then. LOL :joy:   Guys! KES can make both local and global popular drama!! we all know this!!  some writers only care about local ratings and don't get international fan base. I want both for LMH!!

TKEM's issues are totally caused by writer and director. LMH performed his role flawlessly. He was the perfect king. He did his part and the unbiased and non-haters gave him credit where it is due.  The errors, scandals, missteps were none of his doing so to try and blame him for TKEM's failures is unconscionable.  Actually he is a big part of its success overseas since he is the Korean wave star.

Maybe we should have a poll on what type of drama (or movie-maybe that's a totally separate animal) we want to see LMH take on next.  What are the categories?

    • room com
    • melo
    • fantasy
    • historical
    • thriller

And/or a poll on what type of character

    • Dr
    • lawyer
    • struggling single father (this is one of my picks)
    • detective
    • FBI agent (what's the Korean equivalent of FBI?)
    • psychologist
    • villain

Something else I'm interested in- Do you have any objections to LMH playing a villain, murderer etc?  It would be a yes or no type poll.  I'm interested in the honest answers, since I know some objected to LMH's character in GB.

    ***********

Anyone interested helping me write a short synopsis of TKEM? I'll be honest, TKEM is not one of my favorite LMH dramas, so I'm going to struggle writing a summary. I need to update the 1st page.

would love to see him in a slice of life kind of drama where he plays a different role , like a normal guy (not king/chaebol) a doctor perhaps or office. But with his trajectory career wise may not happen. With the looks of it, he will be participating in a blockbuster type suited for his stature (fantasy or action like Healer, City Hunter, Sageuk or wartime maybe?)

but on your list, would like a Prisoner type trying to escape (maybe like Prison Break type)?

    @nika94

For character can you add these too?

    • Husband of a psycho wife
    • Thief
    • Obsessed husband who has psychological problems who will end up killing himself
    •  Socially awkward person who struggles to express his feelings
    • Prisoner
    • Son who covers up his father's corrupted company because his dad is his only family in the world. Then he will end up breaking up with his lover because he and his dad both go to prison.
    • Refugee
    • Unemployed and struggle socially and economically

My projections about the The King eternal Monarch have always been on point since early episode. I was neutral when going in and tracking it for fun but I could tell that it was gonna be major hit worldwide and probably the only person who predicted such things when people were focussed on something else I was only tracking. Not LMH-fan or KGE-fan just neutral bystander.

In order to track a Tv-show or a blockbuster movie you have to look for the ''Take-off'' Thats how the professionals do tracking. They can make sometimes good projections before the movie hits the theater. They follow SNS movements and build-ups. I applied the same with TKEM and I have done trackings before and it's my hobby. I have tracked before Aladdin and Spider-man far from.

TKEM's take-off gave me an indiction and insight to something others didn't see because I was probably the only one who knew this on before hand. It was trending high on Twitter while alot of people were talking about it on Facebook and Instagram if added together they became multiple millions of people talking about it at once and then you have to consider the word of mouth they will leave. I said it will enter top 10 worldwide for 2020 and it pretty much has already. I saw it was ranked 9 according on news.

It has ranked in 45 countries

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a consequence of this I also predicted that LMH' SNS will caught fire which it did. I said he will make 10-12  million followers in two halfs during airing and post-airing due to TKEM's effect. He has already covered 6-mio followers since the last 9 weeks. He has remaining another 6 mio to add in the post-airing they will come in until around september-october and I won't rule out going higher then that

17 hours ago, Wis dom said:

Example lets just assume your LMH and your chosing a drama? The question will be what type of drama do you seek? If you want something lowkey for exlusively local market you do a rom-com or makjang or something similar that is relatable to the local market but if you seek mass consumption you don't take dramas like that specifically dramas like Camellia blooms and My Mister and Another etc etc. All these dramas will not benefit him and will be counter-productive for him. I-fans don't share same tastes as the locals and specifically the mainstream I-fans and they are more into fantasy spectacles but if you give them a rom-com or makjang they will abandon ship and stop watching immediately. The key is to keep this mass audience in place and keep them occupied and look for an expansion of audience.

You have to rationalize the cons and pros and accordingly TKEM's pros outweigh. You have already a very wide ranch of audience in place and what you do is you concentrate on these audience just like how Netflix operates they see a hit they keep producing it and it's that simple.

TKEM's main objective should be expanding in that horizone and put the focus there because there is demand. You always have to meet the demand

You have been pretty accurate in your predictions so do you predict that Netflix will come up with a Season 2 offer for TKEM?  If the writer and stars decline, do you think they will make it public or it will remain a secret that an offer was made?

I really hope if they can come up with a good story, and big budget and it will be a Netflix series, LMH will accept it.  Another writer could do the next season if KES does not want to, she could sell her rights to title of the Story and another writer could take over.

Currently, the most popular drama worldwide is 'The King: Eternal Monarch,' starring Lee Min-ho. If you look at Netflix's ranking of global online video service (OTT) by country, "The King" has been ranked No. 1 in Nigeria and has been ranked within the top 10 in Romania, Turkey, and India.

    full article:

I got this quote directly from the article:-

"Currently, the most popular drama in the world is'The King: Lord of Eternity' starring Lee Min-ho.  Psycho but it's okay' starring Korean wave star Soo-Hyun Kim, who was released to 190 countries through Netflix last week, is considered as the successor to the Korean wave."

I am upset that  the writer considers KSH a Korean Wave Star and a successor to the Korean wave, while completely ignoring LMH as the top Korean wave star.  One of the Korean wave originals is LMH which the writer failed to include after naming BTS and Parasite.

I thought maybe his Noona sorts the offers by the reputation of Writer and Director of that project first. Because LMH mentioned in TKEM press conference that KES's name influenced him in choosing TKEM. so I guess LMH cares about which writer and director are attached to a project, which is safe and smart because it is easy to mess up kdramas and we all know many dramas which went to a wrong path towards the end of dramas.

I agree about him wanting to do Netflix show because of the pandemic. I guess LMH has much more Netflix offers because of the popularity of TKEM globally. If he has a lot of Netflix offers to choose from, then it will be awesome because Netflix shows have unique and good stories.

Hopefully, whatever drama he chooses will be Netflix original. Watching LMH on Netflix was the greatest JOY compared to those websites!

I remember I was reading a comment under MYM instagram, someone was saying LMH come with cable drama next and another Minoz answered that "LMH is SBS's son" :joy:

Do we know for sure that LMH is getting offers from Netflix or are we just speculating?

I mean If you followed him from his vintage days you would understand way he exploded 2-3 years later it was due to pure talent. He had good combo of strengths that allowed him to befriend the audience in extreme ways. You could alter time and not cast him in BOF. He would still be here today. Example when he ran across the room and stabbed someone in the meat-freezer in public enemies the lead senior actor standing next to him was slightly startled if you look closely because it just felt real the way he stabbed that guy with a lot of intensity. He could be playful, intense, childish, manly, fiercer, soft, sweet, dangerous, tough, gentle, funny, harsh and kind at the same time. What makes him shine most and his biggest asset is his intensity coming from his eyes and flamboyance-acting. He dose swagger acting. His always been an actors actor and hard worker.

His an extremely hard worker. When you put alot of intensity into something it becomes closest to realism. This is also the same reason he has shined in romance genre due to intensity and the Female lead is properly loved as she should and female audience notice this straight away because he puts so much intensity into loving her. You could send him back to 2006 when he debuted and he could achieve the same result again and again hitting with the audience and becoming larger then life that is pure talent not fluke or anything but pure talent in it's absolute true form

It is true that he could be playful, intense, childish, manly, fiercer, soft, sweet, dangerous, tough, gentle, funny, harsh and kind at the same time and intensity from his eyes.  You could not have put it better.

The quarantine plays a huge role tbh, both for TKEM & for IONTBO (the one that started airing today). Both LMH & KSH have quite big fanbases; those viewers are guaranteed. So it is mostly up to those who are new (or almost new) to kdramas to actually start watching the shows & eventually like them. Anyways, TKEM is atypical for most people, so that's why it gained so much fans and popularity, I guess - something new & different.

I am from Bulgaria, kdramas are not that popular here, and, yet, TKEM is trending here as well & I even heard people discussing it on the streets. Which, honestly, was a first for me in this country.

That is the most interesting thing I heard, people discussing TKEM on the streets of Bulgaria . Wow!  I am glad it is trending there even though Kdramas are not that popular there. Why do you think TKEM is the exception?  Because of the theme and synopsis or because of LMH?

His criminally underrated. I am new to Kdramas just 2 months and I had the chance to watch him and for what I could see. His magical and I loved his vintage days they were gold and nowadays same. You could see the potential in his early days in movies like Get-up or dramas Makerel run or especially in I am sam. These were High-school dramas so nothing to serious but just his screen presence and charisma was bursting out of the screen. His comedic timing and acting was great. It was understandable why he exploded 2-3 years after these shows he just had the ''IT FACTOR''. His a very special and his type of actors don't come often. Who has that impact and can trendsend just due to being magnetic and charismatic. His longevity is also admirable

@Heilo His the most significiant actor in the whole effin world in the last decade or so. This is simple you can do your research you would come to the same conclusion.. He is underrated imo and on epic proportions. When you consider the language barrier and the reach he has had for the last decade or so you won't be able to find anyone other then him. perhaps the decades before this one you would be able to find 1 or 2 others but not in this decade

You are right, there, "he just has the ''IT FACTOR''."

And Heilo says the reach he has around the world for the last decade when there is the language factor. Admitted, he does have a wide reach.

Even first time watchers say he has charisma. There is something about him that make viewers gravitate towards him. He is "it".  Some untouched quality about him, being above the fray but still connected to everyone and down to earth at the same time. :D Very relatable and lovable.

@madmad min @Heilo @Joanna Alfson and @Elnin Joery that was insightsful.

I watched GB during when it came out. I always knew he was phenomenal but I wanted to hear your takes but it seems like his way more significiant then I assumed and his days and impact goes beyond Gangnam Blues days. I also loved TKEM which means I will start LMH rewatch campaign any suggests. I watched CH and faith already and LOTBS I will watch after TKEM

@Wis dom When I made that prediction I was not LMH fan nor KGE fan nor TKEM fan just neutral bystander and observer

So you are now a TKEM, LMH  and KGE fan.  Glad you got hooked in :)

In LOTBS, LMH acts in two different roles, in one of them he has great comedic timing. He can be very funny. Hope you enjoy it. I thought he was excellent in GB.

That is absolutely bonkers who would have thought it would explode to this extend. I knew it was gonna be massive but not this level massive overseas

The gulf markets are very selective in what they watch and if you can branch out into that territory you can do it anywhere in the world. Which is why Season 2 arriving will be compulsory and obligatory upon studio dragon and KES also on LMH and KGE

I heard that IQYI (not sure of correct name) in China is a legal streaming site that can have Kdramas so is King on that site or can they sell to that site so that Chinese can watch it legally?

CallieP,  in Korean entertainment industry, many actors feel the necessity to change their appearance to get into the character and to help the audience differentiate between the various roles the actor has played. In particular, the hairstyle plays an important role, often acting as shorthand to describe a character. Not all actors change their hairstyle often, but there are many who do for each drama they take on & one of them is LMH. He’s one actor who always tries different hairstyles to get into his drama characters. In "BOF", you call that curly hair “conch”. For “PT”, he opted for a trendier cut that suited his architect character. ...  In “TH”, he cut his hair short –– giving him a more playful look. In “CH”, Lee Min Ho had long hair with a side-swept fringe with a few brown highlights. And that induction cut during his military service.  Ye, the hair makes the character –

It is a trend. I know LMH had to perm his hair for GJP because character had curly hair but for PT and CH, that was the hair style then because I noticed other actors sporting the same style during those years, very apparent during the year of PT and the year of CH. The second lead had the same hair style.  So did actors in other dramas. LMH had to grow his hair for Faith but after it ended, he cut it and that was his next style when Heirs came around. All other actors had the same or similar style too.

The digital content industry "New Wave Is Here."

Digital content is attracting attention these days. Moving from newspapers to portals to online shopping, from books to YouTube, companies have no choice but to focus on digital content suitable for digital platforms. A new wave of content industry has begun.

Moreover, Hallyu contents such as music and movies have a very large direct and indirect economic contribution, such as enhancing the national image, contributing to promoting Korean products, and attracting foreign tourists to Korea.

Exports of Korean Wave content, which consists of characters, music, broadcasting, advertising, and movies, are also increasing. There is no recession in the export of content such as BTS, which topped the Billboard chart four times in a row, a parasite who won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, "The King: Eternal Monarch," who won the world's No. 1 drama on Netflix, and the Korean Wave character "Baby Shark," which ranks fifth in YouTube videos around the world. The character industry that develops characters and manufactures and distributes character products is an important Hallyu content industry. Pengsu is attracting attention as a next-generation cultural export that will become popular around the world.

Don’t bother with them. I refuse to promote these blogs and and believe me, it’ll just get you angry. I will never understand why anyone spends so much time hating on a celebrity. At least we, as fans, spend time on lmh because we love him.

I’m so happy and proud to see that TKEM is the start of a new wave! Finally getting the recognition it deserves!
    :cutekitty:

Netflix won the world's No. 1 drama 'The King: Lord of Eternity', ranked 5th on YouTube videos worldwide.

Looks like King is #5 on You Tube Videos worldwide. Another milestone.

    https://news.joins.com/article/23808163

But, when did King get to be # 1 on Netflix?

@leeminhosny always posts those and the highest was #7 or #8 so I am confused.  For the whole world for 2020, it was #15. So how is it #1?  Not that I am not ecstatic but did not see this anywhere else.

CallieP,  oh......really? Do you think LMH is changing his hairstyle every 2-years? Well, there are haircuts and then there are ridiculous haircuts, which women will crucify you for. What may look good in the glossy magazines, isn’t exactly what women will find attractive.

He had the curly GJP hair, then the PT hair style, then the CH hairstyle, then the Faith locks, then he cut it right after Faith, then the Heirs cut, his slight curls in LOTBS,  military buzz and finally King's hair style.  :D

Ah damnit, they changed the icon back to Kim Tan.  I never thought I would complain about a LMH character being the icon, but LG is just flawless.

They were also using the photo of tyrant LG for the icon so two birds, one hot hot hot photo.

I have yet to see a photo of tyrant LG. Can you post it?  TKEM never showed a photo of tyrant LG, did they???

Welcome @Ale Minoz Kim to the LMH thread!  Awesome videos!  He's changed so much since he first started, hasn't he?  But, always has that sweet smile

It is true , he always has that sweet smile. His hair style has changed a lot. Korean men change their hairstyle every 2 years while American men never change theirs.

There were times when his face was slightly round but now he is thin.. Great video by @Ale Minoz Kim Love the song.
