Re. the SBS Awards, I was probably the first one who reacted why LJG didn't win the Top Excellence Award. But when I actually watched the broadcast with subbed, I was amazed there were actually 5 winners on that category for actor alone. Also the fact that Hallyu Award was presented before the Daesang, and the MC also explained that on top of the votes, it was also deliberated by panel of experts, - it is of higher honour than the Top Excellence Award. Again, Soompi and DB didn't report this fact right.

Re. SWWTN, I could understand why it was not well received. The first episode of that drama was really amazing but just went downhill and only picked up I think from ep 11 or 12. Lee Joon Gi was amazing in Ep 1 and from ep 16-20. There was really nothing much he can do in those in between episodes. Even that drama didn't do well as expected, if I were LJG I would not regret one bit. I thought it was satisfying on his perspective, if I were him.

Oh Gosh, for SWWTN i don't like the rest of the cast, especially LYB and SCM and also the writer, she make a big plot hole in the middle of the drama >< ( and after so many hurdle to find the king's book, at the end Gwi die only because a sunlight =_____= what the....#@$%^&*O  )

I am with you on this. I like Criminal Minds but remakes of US shows always fails in Korea. I want him in an original, it can be similar to CM but not a remake please. But having said this, if there is an actor that can pull it off it would be our Joon Gi.  Fated to Love You turned out pretty good with Jang Hyuk in the latter part of the show and I ended up liking it better than the original, same with MLSHR. If you have a strong actor/actress who would take ownership of a role in a remake/adaptation it could be successful. The problem is that when people hear that it is a remake they don't want to tune in especially if the original was a hit and that is where you lose on the ratings game.

If JG accepts this then I am sure there is a role in there that he finds challenging.  At this point I don't mind what he takes on as long as he is happy with it.  I just want to see him on screen soon

yes same, for FTLY the korean was better than the original in the terms of rating for romance drama is quite good, it have 2 digit rating, and also for award, both Jang Hyuk and Jang nara win the top excellence, and for big budget drama, i think they will really careful when make the scenario, etc , but i don't know why entourage drama really floop, even the US version really HIT, people say because the culture shock.

Btw its CM have many action scene ? or mostly about talks ? if mostly about talks.... oh my it will be tiring drama ahahahahah

I translated comments on his casting article here.

I think he will and I kind of hope he takes up the drama, just for the fact that it's a modern series. Also, I'm very fond of I Remember You which was also based on criminal profiling (though it didn't have great ratings). The production crew seems legit as well. I don't feel it's fair to say that all remakes will suck, or he has no luck with adaptations and whatever. He's only acted in a single adaptation and that's Scarlet Heart, and he can't help the writing or the directing. Unless the director and scriptwriter are the same people from Scarlet Heart (which is impossible really), there is absolutely no correlation. However, I'm uncertain about the original material because I haven't watched the series. If the original script is good, I think the drama has potential to be good as well. The thing I'm not big on, is Kim Ah-joong as his costar. She was really lackluster in Wanted. But hey, at least she's appropriate age-wise.

about Kim Ah Jong, she's a little bit lack in wanted but she do well on Sign and Punch drama, what make me curious was, KAJ usually do a romance comedy in her movie, but in k drama she usually starred in-crime-thriller  genre. But if we already have a good production team, a good script and good actor/ actress, so the rest just pray they will have a LUCK FACTOR with the drama :glasses:

I don't mind if he takes this offer. Action/ thriller / crime drama seems good for him. This is a type of drama that i am looking forward to watching him.

Take a look at the big companies behind this production.

    - next entertainment world : DOTS production company

    - taewon entertainment : IRIS, IRIS2, Athena:Goddes of War production company (very big budget drama)

    - ABC Studio : Criminal Mind's copyright holder

    - Disney Media Distribution

N.E.W and Taewon Entertainment will conduct distribution in Korea, Japan and China; Disney Media Distribution will do to the rest of the world.

source: article http://www.koreanfilm.or.kr/jsp/news dated july 8, 2016 (this article about 4 companies confirm to make K version of Criminal Minds) no mention about KBS yet.

Sounds like another big production drama which is targeted to international audience right?

Omo, it will be a "blockbuster" production :dizzy: i got a feeling JG will take this offer

Hi booho, when you say "remake" in K-drama it usually means no. 1................... Remake that is based on an earlier work and tells the same story.

yeah, usually no 1, but criminal minds have 12 season isn't it :dizzy: usually, i think the biggest concern when it comes to remake was Korean audience always COMPARE it to original one. i don't know, but if i watch fated to love you ( the remake ) i think its okay with the story, ( don't know if it cause by the casting or not ) but usually these day the audience is unpredictable. Like drama Doctors, even PSH and KRW didn't expect the drama will have a good rating, but the result they got high rating. And also SH, at first it was predict will get a high rating but we can see the result ( even the international is on the top LOL ) , hwarang also the same, have high anticipation cuz pre-produce but the result...., and don't forget about reply 1988, it also unpredictable, people say it will be flop but then woaaaaa... u can see the rating in TVN @___@

  6. There's many things come in my mind about REMAKE especially in Kdrama industry

I think Drama - remake have been a CURSE, as far as i know the drama remake who have a high rating only BBF >< ( i don't know about the other )

From playfull kiss - fated to love you - entourage all the big floop

but, i heard the production team for Criminal minds will be the one who handle DOTS and IRIS, it is a top production team

and for the female lead Kim Ah Joong, she's a top class actress too and have many experience in crime-drama, i have see her acting in Punch and wanted

but i hope criminal minds is not like TEN drama ( its korean criminal drama the actor was joo sang wook ) and goshh it's good but the story too deep and dark, not everyone can enjoy a drama like that :dizzy:

I don't want him in a medical drama, it is too mundane. There has been too many medical dramas already and I can't see him in a doctor role that can better a Wang So role. I know that medical dramas are the rage these days but it is too late to hop on the band wagon now, like SWWTN was too late after so many vampire dramas already done. I would like to see him in an action James Bond type drama or a revenge type thriller.

Oh no vampire again, i think vampire theme is not really good if make into kdrama, i watch SWWTN only coz JG, if not him i already drop that drama ahahahahah, i want he star a drama like Healer, 3 days  or IRIS :phew:

if medical drama, i hope is not a common medical doctor, its more interesting like psycho doctor like hannibal letcher maybe hahahahaha

The director kept refusing the gifts from MLSHR DC gallery, so the production company wants the fans to take them back. The K fans on DC will discuss tonight what to do with the gifts as they can't get a refund with the way they opened the packaging. They may try to sell it on the second hand market to recoup some of the cost and use it for gifts for the actors instead.

What second hand market ??  :tears: do u know what kind of gift they give to the director ?

He said fans monitor him but he monitors fans too and he knows there are requests for him to be a do a crime thriller, medical, romance drama and reality entertainment. So he is acting out all the scenarios  As a police interrogating a criminal, a top surgeon who can operate without the patient having side effects and scars and a guy trying to woo his gf  the pyjamas scene is supposed to depict waking up in a reality variety show.  The white bear is

hilarious. And the ending was not shown, but he grab the bear and kiss "her" passionately

Oh heck yeah I noticed this too. The recurring theme right now is reincarnation and they'll do the same concept in Saimdang, right?

Anyway, after reading a few things about this upcoming TV series, maybe we shouldn't want JG there. Book/Manga/Manhwa/Comics adaptations are incredibly hard to successfully translate on screen. Especially if the writer refuses to at least 70% faithfully follow the source content. The drama may receive backlash because from what I read, it could be different from the manhwa. The concept is nice though, but it also got me thinking, was Goblin's writer inspired by this manhwa? I was impressed that she was able to think of a "unique" concept but it turns out it's not super unique at all. No problems though, because works are always inspired by something.

They won't wait - broadcast stations in Korea strike while the iron is hot. You might notice there is always some recurrent themes specific of each year. They don't care of comparison. They are following the trends, or are coincidentally working on the same themes at the same time I don't know : P

Is the child form in Bride of the Water God really a child or a teenager ?
Anyway I definitely don't want JG in that drama ^^
Maybe Nam Joo Hyuk can handle the heavy part. People are enjoying him in his current drama, he might be surprising there.

because a curse he will become a child in the morning  ( The child is really a CHILD - LOL - it's like 6-7 years old, so they need a child actor >0< ) and in the night he will become a 25's adult young man LOL
