  1. I've been searching for words to describe how I feel about the ending. I've been staring at my bedroom's wall for minutes now. The ending just left a hole in my heart. How Shin is left alone and lonely and in pain waiting for his love to be reborn again. It's hard to watch that part. It gave such a weird feeling in my stomach, a weird kind of weird.

They could have gone with a twist so ET could stop being a missing soul. Or Shin might as well goes with her to afterlife and reincarnate together.

I really want to appreciate the ending, but it's just not acceptable at the moment. I need a moment to digest all these, or just like some of us here, I might think that it all ends with ShinTak's beautiful, surreal wedding which brought me tears of joy.

However, it's been a helluva ride in this thread. You're all JJANG! Thank you, thank you!

  2. I just want to say that now I can understand why KES gave the female lead role to KGE. She totally nails it. From a bubbly 20 year-old to a 29 year-old with a hidden, profound sadness. The way she presents herself are so different. I'm in awe.

This sad love our OTPs are having...gosh. 9 years of agony. Right now, an open ending is even acceptable for me, as long as nobody dies :(((

  3. Ok. I'm a bit calm now. KES better comes up with an awesome twist that doesn't involve amnesia.

Are they gonna see each other again when ET is 29? Really writer-nim? REALLY??Gosh, I feel like flipping tables right now.

3 more episodes. Good things are coming our way right chingus?

    1. Shin would re-materialize in buckwheat field. Or any field for that matter. Just RE-MATERIALIZE, RE-APPEAR, RE-BORN. I couldn't care any less at the moment. *gritting teeth*

    2. Grim and Sunny would part ways and meet again and realize that they're meant to be together. Pyeha and his queen. He will redeem himself by loving her like crazy. And Grim will have that sexy facial hair. Of course.

    3. ET would live her life, with deep scars and sadness and yearning for his man.

    4. They meet again after 1 year, 2 years top, NOT TEN YEARS.  Still in love with each other, still looks at each other with the same longing gaze, and there will be kisses and hugs and more kisses. I beg of you, writer-nim.

I just realize how cruel it is that TvN puts us in this wait for the next episode. How could they? Madness. 6 days of complete madness.

I love this scene so much. EunTak is a wise girl for her age, whenever I see her, what comes to mind is that she's a lightbulb that brightens Shin's dark gloomy world. She can be bubbly and make Shin wear a happiest smile, but she can console him when needed with a wisdom and kindness. Their love might be cursed, but fated. Destin. What a word so fitting for their fight to be together.

I'm kinda sad that ET can't see her ghost friend, I hope she will help her pass through to afterlife. I assume she has the biggest grudge/unresolved issues before death and considering she's the first among her ghosty pals, I think she'll play quite a role later on. Maybe she'll even help ET when lighter fails to summon Shin.

Seriously this drama, I have no idea how a happy ending might unfold for our OTPs, I was actually preparing my self for a sad (but still happy) ending. ET and Shin reminds me of the a book/movie titled 'Me Before You'.

    Spoiler

The story is about a longtime sick and disabled man and his caretaker, they fall in love while she takes  care of him and she brings back happiness to his life. But in the end the man still decides to do euthanasia and chooses to die instead of living miserably. It's super sad,  but the man becomes her power to stay optimistic in life and their short-lived romance is cherished forever.

This kind of ending is what I'm prepared for.

But now, I'm rooting for their happy ending. Please, dramagods, deity, or other almighty beings, give them that!

That's an interesting question. I have been thinking that since KS and ET know each other, and spend time together, her purpose and status is changing. It has been alluded to recently as well when her friend ghost (the friend of her mother) mentionned that her mark was disappearing. The God of Birth did say that ET's purpose was to take teh sword out. If she is not doing it, could it be that she is loosing her powers? Perhaps she won't be able to pull it out anymore, will not be the bride anymore...

It got me very nervous actually, if ET is no longer the bride then she wouldn't be able to summon Shin if she ever needs him. That is not a good news considering the evil eunuch might harm ET as a revenge to Shin. Maybe their love now is not only fated by the curse but it becomes the pure love between two people. ET might not be Shin's bride anymore, but she will remain as the only woman he ever loves romantically.

Too many puzzling questions after this episode, my brain hurts, my eyes got puffy from all those sobs.

I want answers but I don't think I'm ready for this drama to end.

  6. Just finished watching with sub. This episode is legit the best so far. I cried three times, tried so hard to swallow my tears since my kids&hubby were asleep. The most touching scenes are :

-Shin's silent cry when Chairman Yoo passes.

-ET hugs Shin to console him, nobody ever does that for him for hundreds of years, it's so heartbreaking to finally see how immortality is the loneliest curse of all.

    -Sunny&GR's 'kiss and goodbye' scene.

    -Shin&Sun reunion scene.

Argghhh..now another week of torture. *sob*

And Shin's sword can't even touch PJW? What the fudge was that???? I'm terrified for our OTPs now.

  7. Shin gives Eun Tak cotton flower for her graduation?her first day in Uni?...Not a common choice, but still pretty, and it got me curious of its meaning....

Here what I found about what cotton flower might mean, it's being used in a poem :

November Cotton Flower     (By Jean Toomer)

Boll-weevil's coming, and the winters cold,

Made cotton-stalks look rust, seasons, old,

And cotton scarce as any southern snow,

Was vanishing; the branch, so pinched and slow,

    Failed in its function as the autumn rake;

Drouth fighting soil had caused the soil to take

All water from the steams; dead birds were found

In wells a hundred feet below the ground--

Such was the season when the flower bloomed.

Old folks were startled , and it soon assumed

    Significance. Superstition Saw

Something it had never been seen before:

Brown eyes that love without a trace of fear,

Beauty so sudden for that time.

    Analysis (by Madison Drinen) :

In November Cotton Flower, Southern land is described with its changes throughout the fall. Jean Toomer describes how the changes in the land effect every aspect in a different way. And that maybe even though the changes are coming with losses, there will be change for the better to come.

The  beetles are coming to eat the cotton and its becoming scarce. The cotton has failed due to a drouth and the lack of water has dried out all of the streams. When the flower then bloomed many were surprised because after the months of death, they saw a new beauty they had long since forgotten. Toomer uses many literary devices such as simile, when he describe the cotton as "scarce as any southern snow," this lets you know that its almost nonexistent. The comparison helps you to visualize what is actually happening during this time block. The drouth brought on, is a major one, such that it killed. There is the seemingly unfitting line of death, "dead birds were found In wells a hundred feet below the ground," the rest of the poem is talking about how the landscape changes in the fall. Without this line there wouldn't be as much appreciation, in the end of the poem, for the blossoming of the new cotton.

Jean Toomer is teaching a very important lesson in this poem. Even through the harsh changes of the new season, there will be good to come. That even though everything seems as its over, its truly just begun, and the beginning will be greater than any mind could ever imagine. It was forgotten that there could be greatness after the devastation of the past tragedies but with these new beautiful brown eyes full of love a new batch of cotton will grow and the new year will continue on better than the last.

    My two cents :

Somehow, the analysis of the poem kinda resonates with the story. Maybe Shin would like tell Eun Tak that after her miserable past, she would find happiness with him, and he will do everything in his power (to open as many doors possible, just like he said to GR) to protect her and keep her safe.

And another 45 minutes to eps 11!

  8. @SeGafanlady @violetpetal @EonnieHaru Gong Yoo in A man and a woman! I can't unsee that..and I won't! LoL..he's a pleasure to watch, really. *clears throat*

And KGE is so so special, after CiTT, I watched all her movie, including A Muse, her debut role and she instantly killed it with multiple awards. Talk about raw talent.

And yasshhh, I'd make a party if they ever get casted in a movie, with hot skinship and burning kisses. That would be wild

Exactly why I said previously that even with a minimum and somewhat awkward skinship, these two manage to make me giddy and dreamy, I wonder if freedom is thrown at them, it would be a feast. GAH, now I really need that to happen.

  9. Thank you @ucylucy for the photos. Good grace, Gong Yoo is really making my heart weak. How does he do that? those soft gazes, I'd die if I were KGE, having to look into his eyes so frequently. I can't believe my heart just races faster from looking at some pictures. :wub:

And @selenette your analysis is mindblowing, thanks for making time to do that.

....And now excuse me, I'm gonna go back staring at those otherworldly beautiful photos of Gong Yoo *heart eyes* *weak knees*

  10. I love that Go Eun gets so much love here in this thread. She's my girl crush, and I firmly believe that haters are confused admirers! KGE is a very talented actress, her talents are recognized and well-acknowledged. She's gorgeous, she sings, and she speaks languages. I don't think any other actress would do the same awesome work she does in this drama. She makes Eun Tak a character that many people love to talk about. She makes it one of a kind. She's that good.

There you go, sorry for the rant but I need to say all this after reading some comments about her (in some other publications), I just went.. "WHATTTT?"

  11. @jellybellymonster chinguuuu, you're here too, am so glad to bump into you here..I recognize some other 1% spazzmates too, yeayy!

Goblin has been my rebound drama, and it totally delivers. Gong Yoo & Dong Wook are killin' the roles, and the ladies are also on point with their parts. I think KES and the director-nim truly have outdone themselves. The newest plot twist kinda breaks my heart a little, I wonder how our OTPs are gonna get out unscathed from all these messy, tangled, and tragic fate. I'm in a quite somber mood these weeks, so this drama with its rustic, wintery aura really hits all the right notes for me.

....and Gong Yoo, gosh, he's a fine wine. He gets better and better with time passes. He's just <3 <3

  12. Well. I have no words left to say. I have been trying to process the ending and yet I still fail to do so.

I must tell you, this has been quite traumatic. I will forever have trust issues with this drama's production team.

What comes out as a good thing from this journey is..all of you, fellow eclipses. We went all the way, didn't we? At last, we once loved this show, some parts of it maybe, but we DID love it.

Thank you very very much for all the good times, thoughts, inside jokes, smiles & giggles. You're all making this journey memorable and fun. See you around, eclipses!

  13. @jellybellymonster me too. Smart men are my weaknesses. I can't believe I only discover him now. The more I look at him, he has this very cool and collected aura that seems legit and not fake. Ahhh, I'm this close to falling for real for him

I wish he'll get more spotlights and lead roles in the near future, so we can keep staring at his gorg face (and bod) on screen

  14. Yeayyyy..thank you @mrdimples and soompi team for re-opening this thread.

As I back-read, I can't help but notice that HSJ is not getting any older! He's more handsome as he ages and more charming and sexyyyy too.... OMO!

He's my newest oppa-crush, and finding out that he's a smart and also a well-educated actor just adds more brownie points.

  15. 2 hours left to the end of the journey of these silly men who loves the moon so much, they get mad in the attempts. GAH. Why do I have the feeling that Soo finally leaving the palace will be eps 19's cliffhanger.  Then we'll see Soo's dying moments and So's agony for another 50 minutes, and we'll be left with 10 FRIGGIN' MINUTES of Go Ha Jin walking in the modern streets of Myeongdong and seeing So's look-alike in the end of the street. DARN IT SHOW!

Sadly, what comes to my mind right now judging from this episode, So&Soo's love story ain't epic. It's dysfunctional. If I were a relationship counselor in Goryeo, I'd sit them down and tell them in their face that ending the whole thing is the best for now. For they weaken each other with this infatuation/love/attachment.

I'm pulling my hair right now. This drama is the one that got away, that perfect man I had loved wholeheartedly, things could have been amazing, but it just slipped away. I'm crying for you, show. My heart bleeds for you. But like a loony, I will be here again next week to torture myself with your gut wrenching scenes.

Happy ending? I want it oh-so-badly. But, it's a defense mechanism to expect the very worst from this show. It's a natural way to protect (what's left of) my sanity.

  16. DOOM!

May you guys excuse me first, i need to pick up my shattered heart on the floor.

We're finally here, aren't we? The end of So&Soo.

All I could think about during this episode was..'Just end this whole misery already. Goryeo made everyone mad. Just let Ha Jin back to her future past."

But the most upsetting scene I could remember was when Soo told Baek Ah that the only thing CR did wrong was falling in love. GIRL, SHE KILLED A MAN, A GOOD KING! I literally screamed at my TV. The punishment is inhumane, but what she did was also unforgiven.

You want out, Soo? Fine! Just go to Jung. I can't even.

    *sob in the corner*
