What you say about Joo Hyuk reminds me a lot of Suzy. And they seem to have a lot in common, career wise.
Suzy's interviews are also mature & wise, and she also often said “I'm lacking” even in her award "best actress" speechs, she always said she doesn't deserve these awards and that she is ashamed to win these awards against her sunbaes because "I'm still lacking" and that she will work even harder for her next projects. And so she keeps on working harder with great determination and is getting better and better.
I think the two are now in a very good acting agency. Management Soop is a good agency for them and I'm sure their acting career will get better and better with this agency.

While some SeonHo/Jipyeong stans are screaming everywhere that "he's carrying the WHOLE drama" or "he MADE the drama famous" or "the drama is MAINLY or ONLY famous because of him", but then Bae Suzy is the one who is always topping each week, each GOOD DATA (buzzworthy/most talked & most searched) and RACOI (most talked/hot people) rank, followed by Nam Joo Hyuk.
Fact #1: Start-Up made SeonHo famous (or more like "rising"), not the opposite.
Fact #2: They ALL carry this drama, not just SeonHo/Jipyeong, not just one person but all of them.
Fact #3: The drama is famous because all of them and their hard work. And to be honest, if not for Suzy & NJH (or for scriptwriter PHR), a lot of people wouldn't even watch this drama.

I wonder if these new SeonHo fans will be loyal to him or are just passing through and drop him at their next "oppa".
At the start of the drama, SeonHo fans weren't so disrespectful but then afterwards they started to be horribly arrogant and disrespectful towards both main leads, to the point where it became unbearable.
These new fans are even toxic to SeonHo himself by doing this and not helping him at all. There are people who started to like SeonHo but then gave up when they saw all the toxic fans that he has.
But then there aren't just SeonHo fans now, but all of the “original” haters of Suzy & NJH who took this opportunity to blindly send more of hate towards them.
It has become a hate bandwagon at this point. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who haven't even watched Start-Up but who are throwing themselves into the hate bandwagon.
Suzy & NJH clearly don't deserve all this hate they get, especially when they both did a really good job in this drama. And they really worked hard for it. Suzy even promotes this drama better than anyone on her IG but these new toxic SeonHo fans aren't grateful.
These toxic fans just ruined the drama for me. Without these toxic fans, I would have enjoyed the drama better.
I think I'll watch Start-Up for a second time when all this mess is over and I'm sure I'll enjoy it more with a peaceful mind.
However, PHR has focused far too much on the unnecessary love triangle. Without this love triangle, the drama would have been much better. If the drama was more focus on the buissness part and the family relationships (especially Seo sisters relationship) instead of the love triangle, that would have been great for me.
Anyway, one thing that I'm really happy and proud of is the fact that both Suzy and NJH have received so much praise for their good acting in this drama. Even more than usual. And they can be proud of themselves for that because they really deserve the praise. And they also seem to have become close friends in real life. It's good to see.

If Seon Ho really carried the whole drama by himself then explain to me why Suzy (#1) & Joo Hyuk (#2) are always above him in Good Data and Racoi Korea.... And these DATA are way more relevant than the brand reputation ranking or than the random irrelevant polls.
Also, Suzy has +14M followers on Instagram & NJH has +13M, it's way more than KSH's. And Suzy & NJH are established TOP STARS (especially Suzy) while KSH is only a RISING STAR. I'm sure most of people watch this drama for Suzy & NJH and not just for your KSH. KSH/HJP stans are just MORE LOUD than Suzy/Dalmi & NJH/Dosan fans.
Can you just stop discrediting & disrespecting the others actors please!!! The WHOLE CAST carries this drama, not just your oppa! They all worked very hard for 8 months for this drama and they all did a really good job and are all good actors/actresses. They all deserve RESPECT, CREDIT, and PRAISE for their good work. Not just one person but ALL.

Most of people (Inetz & especially Knetz) widely praise Suzy's acting in this drama, tho. They even highly praise her crying acting and her comic one!!!! So I don't know why you guys act like "she gets a lot of hate and criticism" when it's basically the opposite now.
Her acting was already praised in her previous works like WYWS, Vagabond & Ashfall but not as much as in Start-Up. That says a lot, imo. These "very few" people who are "hating" on her acting are probably just too biased against her at this point.
And if PHR has chosen Suzy as her main lead (and even as the central character of the drama) for the third time, it's because PHR trusts Suzy, she knows Suzy is made for this role and knows that Suzy has the potential & the talent to carry her character. PHR knows Suzy better than any of us, she's worked with her on three projects and she knows what Suzy is worth. Not to mention the fact that Suzy is the first one to have been casted for this drama (before your oppas
)
Anyway, Suzy hasn't worked hard for 8 months (of filming) just to be reduced to just a "popular visual" or just a "popular idol". First, she's not an idol anymore, and second, she did a very good job here and her acting is good, it's time to admit it now. And just because you don't like her "acting style", it doesn't mean her acting is bad.
Bae Suzy deserves better respect
Also, NJH was a model before being an actor, so why do you only have a problem with Suzy being a former idol?? Anyway, both Suzy & NJH do a good job and deserve praise here.

I disagree with you about Dalmi.
The real victim in this story is Seo Dalmi.
Of course Dosan is also a victim but Seo Dalmi is even more so at this point. Also, the drama is female centric, the story mainly revolves around Dalmi, in part because she is the real victim.Dalmi may have used NDS at first to show her sister that she is successful in life but NDS has also used Dalmi with several lies, he is clearly not innocent in the story either. If he was so innocent then he would have told Dalmi the truth from the start but he didn't. And as Dramageek said, "he choose to get himself involved coz he likes Dalmi".

And why should she have stopped interfering with his life while she believes he is the Dosan of letters?? The Dosan of letters is the one who interfered in Dalmi's life first, not the other way around!! And the real Dosan is the one who continued to lie to her about the real identity of the Dosan of letters. Maybe if Dosan had told her the truth from the start then Dalmi would have stopped interfering in his life but he didn't so.

She offered herself as CEO to Samsan tech NOT out of selfishness, tho. That was the goal of the "game". Dalmi won and was selected as a CEO (she even went to the "game" on her own, without Dosan, without anyone!!! Just alone!!!), and she had to choose her team of 5 people, that was the goal of the "game". In any case, she had to choose her team with or without Dosan! She offered to NDS (despite his first lie of being a succesful CEO) if he would accept her as their CEO while her sister offered him to be part of their team (two very different ways of proposal). Not her fault that Dosan chose Dalmi as their CEO. He clearly could have chosen Injae, but he didn't. If he hadn't chosen Dalmi then I'm sure Dalmi would have moved on, and chosen another team. After all, she came ALONE and didn't know Dosan was here initially.

Regarding the "flirting" part, Dosan wasn't against it at all and from the start. The two sides were kinda flirting, so why are you blaming Dalmi for that? Also, I don't know but if you meet the man who wrote you letters 15 years ago and made you feel better all these years, wouldn't you do the same??? Dalmi is the victim for not knowing that Dosan is not the Dosan of letters. And despite the fact that Dosan knew Dalmi mistook him for another Dosan, he didn't say anything and take advantage of the situation. Innocent you say?

Because he trusts her and he is probably right to trust her because Dalmi is a good CEO, a good leader, and she's not greedy for money (although she knows she needs this for their success), she even decided to give Dosan (CTO) a bigger share percentage (despite what Jipyeong advised her), while she put herself on the same level as the other 3 team members, but she's greedy for their success and in particular for the success of Dosan and HIS company.

I'll just add one last thing in case you think I don't like Dosan. I like Dosan, he is a really nice guy and he deserves success and I prefer him to Jipyeong but I just don't like how you describe Dalmi here and how you make Dosan look like a innocent victim.

However, I'm totally #TeamDalmi, I would be happy if she ends up being a successful CEO and SINGLE without man.
Anyway, she is definitely my favorite character and she totally deserves more respect and more love as a brave CEO and for her awesome personality!!! But sadly, it seems like most people are only focus on the love triangle or the two males.Also, Injae deserves more screentimes. I can't wait to see more scenes between the two powerful sisters.
I agree with those who say the drama should be more focus on the start-up story and character development in their careers instead of the love triangle.
Also, kudos to Suzy for her great acting in this episode 8. It was her episode imo. She doesn't get enough praise imo so here i am.
Her crying scenes with Dosan and with Halmeoni were awesome.

Hi, I don't know about NJH but from what I know, most of Suzy fans have never or very little been active here, and that's partly because she has always been disliked, disrespected or overlooked on this forum, so they don't come here. And most of her fans are mostly only active on Twitter and Insta, although both of these social networks can be toxic, at least we can sort out the people we are following and block the negative or toxic people.
I'm shipping Seo Dalmi only with herself
#TeamDalmi and also with her halmeoni #TeamHalmeoni I just checked the Asianwiki page for the first time in quite a while and wow I didn't know people were so active here
I wish people would stop being too focus on the love triangle, tho. This drama is more than just "love triangle"...

People who negatively criticize Suzy's acting, I just don't get it anymore, like really. Her acting is clearly good here.
Maybe it's just the writing of her character that you don't like, not her acting. People often confuse "acting" with "character", so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case here. (and I know a lot of K Drama fans often prefer the RickRoll'D, badass, rich and fashionable type of female lead in dramas^^)
Or maybe you just have too much prejudices towards her that you can't see her good acting, no matter what...
Anyway, Dalmi is my favorite character from the drama (along with her grandmother) although her character is not yet well utilized and Suzy does really a good job, so far. I just want her character to be better utilized, tho. The love triangle doesn't really interest me, but it seems that the next episodes will be more interesting.

I see that some people here underestimate and discredit Suzy really a lot.
Anyway, I don't really like the "biased" mood on this thread, so I'll stop coming here to read the comments...
I enjoyed the drama, although the plot was a bit lacking & repetitive at times and a bit too male centric (as in most of kdramas, this is unfortunately why actresses are less lucky), but it was good. I wasn't very active here but it was nice to read all your comments (or almost) since the first episode. Now it's time to move on. Have a good peaceful life guys!

I really loved the drama but I was disappointed by one thing:
The fact that Suzy's character was sidelined and less present in the second half of the drama, and seemed more as a supporting character than a lead one!... Story line became all focus on JC court fight/justice, nothing wrong with that, but I would have liked to see a drama who is both male & female lead centered drama, not just male centric... This drama was definitely male centric, like most of K-dramas, and it's a little disappointing, especially from Park Hye Ryun... Suzy's character deserved better, imo! But anyway, I loved the drama, it was really a good drama! ♥
And to those who say that Suzy was overshadowed by the others, as @blackberrypie , I think it's more her character who was too sidelined and less & less impactful/interesting over the episodes. (Even in the very last episode aka Ep16, she didn't appear much, and for a lead and a last episode, it's disappointing. Is she really the lead of the drama? lol)...
But her acting in the first few episodes was really good (and her character was way more interesting in these first few episodes),... So ok, I can agree for the second half of the drama but it's because her character was less interesting & less present, Suzy can't do anything with that, but she wasn't overshadowed at all in the first half of the drama, on the contrary, I even think she was even better than LJS in the first few episodes... So please give her more credit! Her 'reporter' scenes were good as well, but compared to LJS who had a lot of scenes as a 'prosecutor', Suzy didn't have so many scenes as a 'reporter', and most of her scenes in the second half of the drama were just 'love interest & support' to JC more than other things (even HongJoo's quirkiness & funny level dropped
), so less interesting than the other main characters....I blame the scriptwriter for it...
Anyway, all the cast in this drama was good, including Suzy!

Am I the only one to be disappointed that these last few episodes, HongJoo continue to be sidelined?? I mean, these last few episodes, she's just the love interest, and serve to be a message bearer. I'm a little disappointed by that, because I really love this character, so I wish more...
Also, I miss HJ with glasses (except sunglasses). I would have liked her to keep them longer or continue to wear them from time to time, but they disappeared too quickly.
Anyway, I love the drama, although it's not flawless, and I hope that these last 4 episodes will be the best.

Yeah I agree, Soompi forum is the best place, and the most peaceful one...
And amongst Koalasplayground and Dramabeans, I will add NetizenBuzz (NB) to avoid as well, this blog mainly translates irrelevant negative comments (mainly from Nate=Hate) and often ignores (doesn't translate) positive comments (except when it's about NB's bias) and NB users are full of negativity as well & full of SM stans (who hate Suzy lol) and most of them are brainwashed by NB & are hypocrite.
Anyway, it's better to ignore any negativity (even if it's not easy to do).

WYWS doesn't seem much hyped so far...
SBS seems to be in the red this year financially, so it's maybe why they don't promote/hype their dramas as well and as much as before(?), they want to save money and don't want to invest much in it(?), or something like that... Not sure if that's the reason why they haven't yet realized something for WYWS... Maybe we're just too impatient! lol... but they might at least realize the "first script reading" pics, though.
Last year wasn't a very good year for SBS, they invested a lot on "Moon Lovers", "Saimdang" & "LOTBS", these three dramas are big budget dramas and with big casting, but they all have underperformed. (It wasn't a good year with their Variety shows too)
"LOTBS" had good ratings but SBS thought that this drama would be as successful as "DOTS" (especially with a big casting like JJH & LMH, & scripwriter PJE), and not only in terms of ratings but also in terms of hype & impact. But the hype & impact weren't really here and the ratings struggled to exceed 20%, I don't think they gained much from this drama compared to how much they invested in it,... + they can't make money with China because of the ban.
"Saimdang" is a big budget pre-production, which took 10 months of filming (from August 10, 2015 to June 4, 2016), 10 months is really a lot, it takes a lot of time & money, and which has been very hyped since 2015, so 2 years before the broadcast. And with very recognized & very well-paid actress Lee Young-Ae. They also invested heavily on this pre-production but the result was weak & disappointing, and they lost much from that.
"Moon Lovers" is also a big budget pre-production, and it was over-promoted & over-hyped with their multiple popular actors/idols as cast, but it flopped.So idk, maybe this year they are more careful.

Suzy is a free agent, so her fans don't know who to ask approval to send her "food support", JYPE doesn't respond to their request, they reject it because they are in no place to give permission. Usually we send an email and wait for JYPE's agreement but as she's a free agent right now then it's not possible.
It's a bit sad to know that maybe Suzy will not get "food support" because of her current situation. Last year during Uncontrollably Fond filming, she had a lot of "food support" but it seems this year she will not.
I hope that she will have an agency before the broadcast of the drama so that her fans can send her "rice support" for the press conference.

Yeah but he didn't directed these dramas alone, except "Doctors".
"My Love From the Star" was also directed by Jang Tae-Yoo and "A Girl Who Sees Smells" was also directed by Baek Soo Chan.
"Doctors" is the only drama he directed alone. And the reviews about this drama were mixed so I don't know.
Anyway, I'll see when the drama will be released but I don't totally trust him for now. I hope he will do a good job.-

The main thing that worries me about this drama for now, is the director and the editors. I don't know much about this director and he hasn't had much experience, so it worries me a bit. A director can ruin a drama. And I don't really trust to Oh Choong Hwan for now. And editors can ruin a drama as well.
However, although Park Hye Ryun is a good writer, I'm still a little worried about the plot/script and the characters.
And pre-producted or not pre-producted dramas, both have different advantages and disadvantages, and both have had successful, average and non-successful dramas, so I don't really have any problem with that. (except that we must wait and be patient before the broadcast of the drama)
The success of a drama depends on many things (writing, directing, editing, acting, timing, promotion, the hype, and so on).
Anyway, I really hope that the plot/script and the characters of this drama will be goodly written & interesting and well directed & edited. I just want to see a good drama.

I stopped going on Dramabeans since Uncontrollably Fond, because the comments were really awful, unfair, immature or very exaggerated. Honestly, I don't think this site is well for having a good and mature opinion.
I think the best place is here on Soompi forum. This forum is the most peaceful place I know for drama viewers. Well, at least, for UF, this forum was really the best place.
