I wonder where is the elephant farm that they did for shooting?. Im about to visit Chiang Mai this year..let see if i can take a look at it..it's good to bring back their memories..

I advise doing a lot of research on these sorts of places before giving them your money.... So many of these animal based tourist attractions really mistreat the animals and it'll keep going if people choose to give them money when they're holidaying. I just met a vet friend who went specifically to chiang mai to look after elephants who had been abandoned and brutalised from this kind of trade.

I  think it depends a bit on your culture. I am not certain that you necessarily know that you are gay from a young age. I tend to think that you discover your sexuality when the moment comes.

It was difficult to show Arthit's inner conflict any better because up until he talks with P'Nott he doesn't really say anything. He avoids the problem. We were left to imagine (by his actions) what he was thinking. It's a drama so we needed uncertainty.

I was a bit disappointed that his conversation with P'Nott wasn't dealt with in greater depth. It is made clear that Arthit is being accepted by his friend but I would have liked to have actually heard P'Nott utter the words. I can't rewatch the episode on my tablet but if I remember correctly. Arthit states that he is amorously inclined towards Kongpob but he fears for the future (because he has misinterpreted the whole Prae thing).

That's a huge step for a man to take,  because he is not at that moment certain that things will work out, but says it all the same.

Agreed on the first point. I find it odd that in these Thai dramas you can have the totally out effeminate types portrayed without any problems. They leave few doubts as to their sexuality. But, when it comes to, how shall I put it, the more ordinary guy we have all this angst about how wrong it is. As you say, many different types.

Not sure I totally agree on the second point. I sort of see your reasoning. Chicken and the egg situation. I personally think that if you fall in love with another man that makes you gay, as we would label it these days. The inclination has to be there from the start. The label comes later.

I don't think either would label themselves as bisexuel (a word that basically means unreliable  :)) because they are not labelling themselves with anything. We are.

Agreed on the third point. As I also said above it takes time to discover your true self. Kids of today (excuse me whilst I get my wheelchair out) seem to be more open to the idea of experimentation. Have you noticed that there is no bullying of Kongpob by the seniors? There are a few references of the 'your lost puppy' was around again, kind. But nothing suggesting : don't go bending over in front of that one ai'Arthit. Hope for humanity yet.

About Kongpope and Arthit sexuality - How can we say that they are both gay? Arthit was in love with a woman for a very long time and then the next happened to be a man, so he falls in love with men and women, that is the definition of bisexuality. With Kongpope, we could possibly believe him to be gay considering he hadn't shown any interest in women, but he himself says to Aim that he's not gay and that "if it's not P'Arthit, I wouldn't love him". Which is to say he fell in love with Arthit in spite of him being a man, rather than because he is a man. I could see an argument raised that Kongpope is gay and through his relationship with Arthit realises it, but at this moment, with the information we have been given and what he himself has said, we can't say it with certainty.

How people choose to identify and label themselves is a personal matter and I think our sexuality can and probably is in a constant state of flux, so to have one 'permanent' label mightn't be useful or accurate. There are those that believe themselves to be straight their whole life and then fall in love with somebody of the same sex later on in life, it doesn't mean that they'd always been gay and weren't in love with those beforehand, it could just be that their feelings and idea of attractiveness changed over time.

Lastly, to say that bisexuality = unreliable is actually quite offensive and hurtful towards those that are bisexual. I'm personally bisexual and I don't feel like I'm unreliable or promiscuous or indecisive or any of the horrible stereotypes that people associate with bisexuality. I'm just genuinely open to falling in love with both men and women and whether I'm in a relationship with a man or a women doesn't stop me from being so, even in those moments I still find both sexes attractive and hence doesn't change my status into this gay/straight black/white dichotomy.

    thanks for answering

    the last choice..
i think also it's because he don't want to kiss or being shy a bout it or if k' flirt with him he is upset and shout at him, he is not collaborating all the time
and also this issue bothers me a little, i think that if you are gay or bisexual you know it from younger age ,
i don't understand why in those drama if you have attraction to someone you don't want to kiss him or get contact with him, i understand he was confused but it's seems that it's too much confusing and we didn't see he's inner self and thoughts on this process
i hope i make it more clear

    1. Being gay doesn't automatically make you effeminate... it just means you happen to like boys, nothing more 'necessarily' has to be different. There are gay people of all kinds.

    2. I don't think Arthit or Kongpope would ever really identify as gay, at most they would say they are bisexual. They didn't fall in love with each other because they are gay, they just happened to fall in love with the other person. Kongpope never seemed to be bothered by relationships and concentrated a lot on family and school and for almost his entire puberty Arthit was in love with a girl, so they never really gave themselves an opportunity to consider other options.

    3. There are a lot of people that discover they are lgbt later on in life due to other things in their life, internal/external pressure to live a certain heteronormative lifestyle or simply living in a very conservative community where they might not even know or consider that being gay is a possibility, etc they don't realise it till later on in life. I think this might be especially true of bisexual people.

Hello every one!!! I just started watching Sotus {hence, finally made this account} and am so heartbroken to know that only one episode is left :bawling: I have watched it thrice already and even asked a friend to watch it.

I'm still going through this thread as there is so much but, thank you (for the gifs and other stuffs)

    I have two questions:

    i) What is the difference between the uncut and cut versions? like, seriously? I understand what it would be for a show like Heroine but Sotus ?? So, can anybody tell me the difference? If there are extra scenes, where can I watch it? :sweatingbullets:

ii) What is the 'did they, didn't they' discussion?  :sweatingbullets: Cuz I didn't see anything remotely doing happening on the show so, what's it about? :vicx:

Ugh, I have many questions :3 Happy New Year to everyone!!! Also, is there any name for the Sotus fandom? The novel & the show?:grimace:

Answer to question (2) is related to the bed in that scene. If you look at the bed, there's two pillows and it looks like it's been slept in on both sides, so that's why people are speculating that Arthit stayed over ;P

  5. Well all the content from the book was covered up till episode 13. Already the "Thank The Seniors" party was from a special chapter, so I think episode 15 will be the last "content" based episode based on some of the other special chapters. I'm fairly confident that the final episode, episode 16, will be a "behind-the-scenes" style episode like they did with love sick.

Im so excited to see episode 14. It airs tonight right? I hope someone will be kind and fast enough to upload with subs... im totally in love with arthit's character. His character got me stalking perawat's account all over social media. :sweatingbullets: I feel such a loser not finding links to Sotus novel in english.

You should follow delightful0062 on instagram and wait till registration for the pinkmilk forum is open again. She posts the novel translations there, but they can't be shared because she doesn't actually have permission, it's just for a small group of people on that forum.

If you're patient and can join it later then you can find them there. (It's not complete yet either, only the first 10 chapters or so).

Aye, that is in my head as well. It was pretty much out of character for me to join in here and once the final three episodes are over will I actually have anything constructive to say ?

Fan fiction doesn't interest me, because to me it isn't real. No offence to you authors out there but seriously folks - if you are that good : write your own stories about your own characters.

As for the actors, even now I am not screamingly interested in what they are doing with their private lives. Hopefully they aren't worried about what I do in mine either !

So ultimately, what would be the point in joining ? The translation of the book could push me but even there, the enactment on-screen between the road side encounter as far as the bridge was pretty much word for word according to Delightful's translation, and do you know what ? Krist's acting; the timid smiles, the gestures, his hesitancy, all made the moment more involving than the written word. The film was better than the book.

To join or not to join, that is the question. Oh well : C'est la vie ! (That's one of those English phrases that isn't. A bit like Café).

The forum won't be limited to just SOTUS. There are plans to include a lot of other shows like puppy honey, my lil boy, Bangrak Soi 9/1, etc etc. So if you're a fan of these style of shows then it's worthwhile to join. :)

  8. can someone explain what is so scandalous about ZZ having a gf? I don't really understand why its a big deal. isn't it completely normal behaviour for any country for a 22 year old healthy boy to be in a relationship? what has that got to do with being a singer or actor? it all seems just completely ridiculous to me. it's like a scandal over if he eats bread or sleeps 8 hours a night, likes it's just normal life?!

Yuri on Ice definitely is. My Lil Boy isn't at all.

My Lil Boy is the first 6 episodes of Senior Secret Love (the following 6 eps are Puppy Honey which has BL <----- Watch those! Puppy Honey is awesome. It has Off and Gun and they are soooooooo perfect for each other!!!! - , and then there's another 6 eps that I haven't seen, something about baking. I don't know.)

I have actually watched the whole 6 eps of My Lil Boy last night and I'm sooooooo confused. I was genuinely disappointed by the story's quality. Uhm, I'll put my thoughts under a spoiler tag, because it's off topic:

      Reveal hidden contents

I really disliked the series until episode 5, which redeemed it a bit, I guess. But up until that point, I found it very hard to watch and not cringe...

It already starts with the character's introduction. Basically you have P'Belle, a highschool senior, who we see boxing and she could be such an amazing character because she's not a stereotype during the first couple seconds. But then she basically preys on Nong S at the bus stop, because she... well, she just wants him to be her boyfriend. There's absolutely no explanation given as to why. None at all until the end of episode 4, I think, maybe even episode 5. The story starts just out of the blue and none of the characters seem to act on any real purpose.

Basically, it's all about what Belle wants, but no explanation why, and it really doesn't look like love, because it's all  manipulation and pretense and there's no actual good feelings towards each other involved. And then... waaaaaaay later we find out that the only reason she's after S is because her former boyfriend gave her some sort of a challenge to be with anybody else and she randomly picked S, just because he was there. It's sooooooooo unfair on the poor guy.

And then, towards the end she notices that she really likes him (as does her best friend and as does also his classmate - he's quite popular) and that's when she gives up on him.

I think what annoyed me most was... oh man, I need to make a list, lol:

    • EVERY female character comes across as incredibly negative (they all lie and manipulate, none of them are honest, and none of them see any fault in that)
    • the significantly older girl basically stalks and harasses her junior, he repeatedly tells her to leave him alone and that he's not interested, and she just doesn't care. It gets to the point where he can't escape her both mentally and physically. (And nobody seems to have a problem with any of that, wth?)
    • the boy's characterization is weird: on the one hand he is made to look even younger than he is (he's riding a freaking tricicle, like a toddler, no joke) and he keeps pointing out that he's not interested in love - but on the other hand, out of ALL the characters, he is the most mature one. He's the only one talking sense, who doesn't harass anybody else, who's trying to minimize conflict and to let people down easily without hurting anybody's feelings.
    • the girl is merely using the boy for her own agenda, she doesn't even like him, and he STILL falls for her. I don't get it. I really, really don't. What in the world does he see in her???
    • Not to mention, there were two other girls who genuinely liked him and he still ends up with the mean one - because she's the protagonist, I guess. I just makes no sense. I mean, what message does that send to the viewers?

At least it doesn't end with them being a couple. At least not definitely. He just notices that he misses her and then she's back and they accidentally meet and promise to meet again. But it's still weird. And the story could have just been so so so much better if the characters hab been given better incentives, or... like... even if the story had started out with the challenge, and Belle picking S as the random love interest, and then developing from there that she's slowly starting to have real feelings for him. But there's just nothing there.

I mean, maybe I'm spoiled by the super high quality of Sotus' storyline, which is full of actual emotions and mutual respect for other people and their feelings. My Lil Boy has none of that, except maybe a little bit in episode 5 and 6. But I almost didn't make it that far, that's how annoying the story was, lol.

I watched Yuri on Ice all in one go!! Totally on board the Victuuri ship, woohoo. It's so blatantly gay, it's so great

I would definitely love to see Prae with a romance of her own, but I'd still want the show to have Arthit and Kong as the protagonists. But yeah, there could be two other couples blossoming: Prae + new love interest and maybe even Prem + Wad - That would be fanservice, but I do believe that Bittersweet could pull it off.

I really just feel like the novel has really done a great, complete and concise story with Arthit and Kong, I think to do a season 2 with them as protagonists and artificially "stretch" their story might really ruin it. It's happened to so many shows and ships I loved (*cough*lovesick*cough*) and I'll be so upset if it happened to SOTUS. I'd much rather have a new couple like premxwad or new characters and just have arthitKong kinda have side stories like how mayxem were this season. I really think this would be the best way to approach ss2 if it were to happen!

  11. My two cents is that they'll have both kisses. I don't think they'll cut it due to the age of the actors and the time slot and it's been used way too widely in advertising to be cut. But I'm sure the kisses will be like 1 minute of them leaning slowly into the other and then like the smallest nano second where they kiss and we have to use magnifying glass and strategic pausing to even see if their lips touched.

I dub it  ~*~*standard BL awkward straight boy actor kiss!*~*

Thanks for the explanation on Even. Really hope the show will turn out as what you have wished for...

Yup, I believe most of us are praying hard for that "ice-cream" too...:) Indeed there are not many physically intimate moments on SOTUS. However, I find their uncertain feelings, their doubts then follow by their realization of each other has indeed, sufficient to blow us away. There are also other not bad, good ending Asian BL shows such as Counter attack, Uncontrolled Love, Addicted (Halfway thou). However, I realized that for most China BL shows, you will have to read the novels to understand the story better as a lot of censorship were done on those shows.

I've watched them all. I am absolutely obsessed with addicted, I was so devastated they banned it and no season 2. But even in that one there's quite a lot of very dubious and rape type scenes too... the other two, I liked them... but just not the same level.

I don't mind that there isn't a lot of physically intimate scenes, because there's a lot of emotional intimate scenes... if that makes sense.

I was trying to watch Bruno/Pol but seems that the contributer at Youtube has stopped thus I couldnt find it anywhere. (any links?)

Even/Isak...still waiting for the next eps but seems that Even is sick...but I dun really understand what illness does he have (care to explain?:P)

However after watching so many, I still love to come back to Sotus...(also to the Sotus family here :) where we cry, laugh and discuss every tiny thing in the show) So far Sotus is one of the best story ever....especially with a happy ending! ^^ The countdown starts again..cant wait for Saturday to arrive soon...

Yeah, I just saw that most of the episodes for Bruno/Pol were geoblocked or deleted. But actually I watched most of it on daily motion. It was seriously so amazing, I liked it the most of all BL stories, actually even more than SOTUS... but that ending has completely ruined it for me. I feel like I've been promised ice cream for two seasons and at the end they just gave me like a single ice cube instead... so disappointed and angry.

Even has something called bipolar disorder, which is a mental illness. Essentially they go through cycles of extreme highs and lows, so a manic episode where they're hyper/very energetic, such as what Even just went through (sometimes they can be very good, cause the person is able to do a lot of work and is highly motivated, but what they do is not always rational and can be very impulsive and dangerous) these are usually followed by a "depressive episode" where they become very sad, might be suicidal or unable to function, sleep all day, refuse to eat, shower, get out of bed, etc. Usually it can be managed with medication but I'm assuming Even isn't taking his medicine. I'm hoping the show will go in that direction where Even takes his medication or goes to therapy and when he's back to "normal" will seek out Isak again...

I know SOTUS has a happy ending, which is what makes me love it so much and I can't wait for it. Everything about it makes it so much better than other BL, especially most other Asian ones. Finally a happy ending where no crazy over the top evil girl characters or rape scenes or sad endings. Finally just a sweet, realistic love story of two ordinary guys that's well acted. I really hope the kiss scene isn't disappointing, there aren't many physically intimate moments between them, so the few they have need to be done well imho. I want my ice cream, damnit!!

  14. Is anybody here a fan of Bruno/Pol from Merli? I just watched the season finale...

    Spoiler

I'm so angry!!! They were finally getting somewhere and I read that the actor for Bruno is leaving the show, so that means he won't come back from Rome!! Mother#^&".

So first Even/Isak are screwed. Then Lukas is shot, now Bruno leaving forever.... why are all my babies not getting happy endings whyyyyyyyyyyy :tears::tears:

Man, I so desperately cant wait for SOTUS and my babies Arthit and Kongpope to have a beautiful kiss and happy ever after or I'm gunna be so angry and cry forverrrr
