  1. Seung-hee and her daughter have been playing this fantasy in their heads about what their life would have been like if In-ho didn't end up with Dr. Cha. They see Dr. Cha's "perfect" family life that should have been theirs. What they don't see is that the perfect family life was mostly due to Dr. Cha not In-Ho. In-ho admitted that he has depended on Jeong-suk in taking care of the kids and his parents. Would Seung-hee have done the same? It's one thing to date someone. It's another to actually live with the person. As Jeond-suk said to Mi-hee, would Seung-hee and In-ho really be happy together? The analogy to a limited edition handbag was great. Coveting something but in the end being lost in the back of the closet.

Hopefully, Deok-rye's letter to Seung-hee is a wake up call. The best ending for me would be both women leave the jerk.

  2. Looking at next week's preview I don't know what marriage In-Ho is trying to salvage. Their marriage seems more like a business deal than a marriage. How many times does this drama show how much In-Ho gives a rat's RickRoll'D about his wife?!? First the bracelet. It was the 1st gift that In-Ho has ever given Jeong-suk during their entire marriage. It wasn't even from the heart but to distract her from his infidelity. Second, never going on trips as a couple. In-ho goes on vacations with his mistress while Jeong-suk is slaving away at home taking care of their kids and MIL. Third, Jeong-suk's birthday dinner. The MIL planned the dinner to save the family, and In-Ho is questioning why she is doing it. Unbelievable!

I'm watching to see Dr. Cha succeed with or without Dr. Kim. Don't get me wrong. Dr. Cha and Dr. Kim is my ship. Finally, a guy who respects her and is supportive. However, my ships tend to sink :( Dr. Cha reminds me of Rose from Joy Luck Club who didn't know her worth until Mother An-Mei pointed it out. I am hoping beginning next week will be the turning point, and we see Jeong-suk knowing her worth and kicking RickRoll'D at work and in her life.

  3. Finished episode 6. IN-HO IS A BIG JERK! I have other names for him, but Soompi forum might ban me. Guys like him will not change. The only person whom he cares about is himself! Selfish RickRoll'D! He doesn't care who he hurts...not his wife, mistress or his children. I'm sorry, but Jung-sook needs to divorce his butt. His mistress should also kick him to the curb. The mistress is a piece of work, but this jerk is completely playing with her. Wake up, honey! He is not leaving his wife! It is what cheaters do!

I'm sorry but this marriage is not salvageable! I think Jung-sook and Seung-hee are better off being single. If this guy ends up with either one of them, I am done with this series! What message does this series give if the guy gets forgiven from either women. Seriously, asking the women on this forum would you be so forgiving of a man like In-ho after watching episode 6?!? I am really hoping this guy gets his comeuppance.

Enough of my rant. On the upside Jung-min's girlfriend's view of people will most likely change. I don't want to say anything since it is a spoiler. I still don't like her. She has a long way to prove to me that she's a better person.

  4. This is the biggest cop-out! Where is the justice for the victims? I really did not like the ending of this story arc.

Hae-yi's mom is probably the most self-centered, materialistic drama character ever! At least Hae-yi finally sees what the rest of her family knows about her mom. Absolutely shameless!

What comes around, goes around. Su-ah's mom, beware of gossiping about other people's misfortunes.

The return of Hae-yi's real mom has been irking me. Did the writer really need to bring her back? What's up with this subplot?!? Then I was watching early episodes again and started picking up on little details. Whenever Hae-yi calls Haeng-seon "aunt" or someone points out that she is not the real mom, you can see the hurt in Haeng-seon's face. In episode 4, Hae-yi tells Haeng-seon that she's motivated to be the top scorer in the country on the college entrance exams so she will be on the news hoping her real mom sees it. Then Haeng-seon starts to look like she wants to cry but holds it in.  If the return of the mom subplot is about what does it really mean to be a mom and Hae-yi chooses Haeng-seon, I will freaking cry my eyes out and will need a box of tissues next to me.

I don't care if you're the biological mother. Your questions on how much the banchan shop makes per month already calls you out what you're really after...money. How do you plan to get it? Extort it from your sister or her rich boyfriend? Insurance money? Where were you all these years while your sister hustled to put a roof over your daughter's head and make sure she got an education?!? Shameless!:rage: I can't wait for Hae-yi to wake up and choose Haeng-seon! Anyway the biological mother will probably skip town as soon as she sees that there is no money to be made.

The story has gone full on makjang. Typical. I guess that I am like the character Scarlett in 'Search WWW' and can't help myself from watching the makjang. Thank gawd for the masterclass performances of the actors who can sell the story! This scene was crazy good..

I really cant believe how these moms are pushing their kids. Is it really that hard to get into college in Korea? Are there not enough universities that the competition is so high? We also have study places like Kumon here, but I never sent my son there. I never pressured him. He graduated magna cum laude from high school and has straight A's in college. He got into a very competitive Nursing program that only takes in 60 students (out of 700+ applicants) for every cohort. He enjoys his time playing games online with his friends, goes out with them sometimes til late at night, goes on dates with his GF and works part time to get extra spending money. He still excels while doing all these. I think pressuring these kids stresses them out and it backfires.

These mothers are not doing it right. The lawyer mom doesnt show any love or any affection for her two boys, she just pressures them until they break. She didnt even learn her lesson with her older son, she now has to do the same to her younger son. Su-ah's mom is such a pathetic mom. She resorts to gossip, defamation, etc. to give advantage to her daughter. Her daughter who is now going crazy because she doesnt place 1st all the time. The other moms go along with her because they are afraid of her influence with the schools and online. She is so busy manipulating her kid, the mothers and the schools that she doesnt even know her husband is having an affair.

Of course we want our kids to succeed, but I think they are doing it the wrong way. They need to shower them with love and understanding. They need to support them 100% even when they fail. So they will feel reassured that it is ok to fail because life is not perfect. You learn from your failures and there is always a second chance. All that matters is that they are healthy. Forcing them will cause them to get sick and eventually not succeed the way they wanted.

Sorry, ranting because it irks me when I see these kind of moms.

Rant away! I about had it with Su-ah and Seon-jae's moms. I am waiting for their comeuppance. I was reading Korean articles in Naver and comments. Besides the performances of Jung kyung-ho and Jeon Do-yeon, another reason why the show is doing well according to the articles is that the subject matter, pressure of doing well on exams and hagwons (cram schools), resonates with the audience.

What crazy things parents will do to get their kid to be the head of the class is not limited to Korea. Look what happened in the US with the Varsity Blues scandal...celebrities and rich people were paying university admission counselors or hiring someone to take their kids' college entrance exams to get into the the top tier universities. In the end it hurt their kids because their reputations were ruined.

  9. It's been a while since I've been on this forum since I sort of stopped watching kdramas. Then I stumbled on this gem on Netflix. Man, is this the same Jeon Do-yeon from A Man and A Woman and The Good Wife?!? The shyness of Haeng-seon around her relationship with Chi-yeol is believable and not cringy at all. JDY is truly a chameleon!

JDY is currently promoting her movie, Kill Boksoon, about a single mother who is also an assassin at the Berlin Film Festival. In an interview for her film, she talked about being only offered dark and dramatic roles since her award-winning performance in Secret Sunshine. Recently she has been getting to branch out since she's been approached for other genres. I hope with the success of Crash Course in Romance that we'll get to see her in more comedic roles. Looking at filming BTS she looks like she is having a blast:
