I think you may very well be correct.

I did though for a short second wonder if JTE made sure to keep track of how many bullets she had because she might... well take herself out - if it was unavoidable that the bad guys would get to her. Which would make sense of LG's strong reaction and decision to fire all the remaining bullets + throw the gun as far away as possible. She does not want to be taken and used as pawn by LL, she has expressed how she chooses to be brave and that she prioritizes the well-being of the citizens (of both universes I'm sure) even more than LG (which was said somewhat jokingly to be fair but still). She has some strong morals and will always stand up to bullies (like SJ's bullies literally). This is a really dark take though and I'm going to assume this was not what was implied. Just a theory :)

While LL claimed that LG would want her dead or alive I don't think LG would exchange the flute for her dead body honestly. I mean he shouldn't and he does take his responsibility to protect the Kingdom incredibly seriously. Even if JTE was alive I don't think she would allow him to honestly (of course LL might mean to use JTE or the doppelganger's mother as bait instead).

Sort of in line with some of @bebebisous33 analysis about LL's shortcomings I think that:

    - LL lacks a basic understanding of morality and love and does not only underestimate others because of it, but he also does not fundamentally understand how these things can motivate and determine the actions of those for whom such things matter. He is basically the devil tempting people through their darkest desires but does not understand people who can resist these temptations and make other decisions - sometimes self-sacrificing decisions. Will he try to tempt SJ in some way? (Pretty sure there is no chance in hell SJ would do anything for him). LL has already been surprised by LG's actions and his plan to exchange LG's doppelganger's mother for the flute seems a bit far-fetched. LG has stated that he views her as a symbol and that he knows that she is not at all the same person as his mother. Not that it would be easy I'm sure for LG to watch her die or anything like that though. The plan would make perfect sense though from an amoral person's perspective who knows people act in irrational (well to him irrational) ways due to sentiment, but does not fundamentally understand how they actually work nor why

Actually, you could see the lies in Lee Rim's speech, when he tried to convince Luna to take JTE's life. First, he said that JTE had loving and caring parents... the truth is JTE had lost her mother at an early age, so she was raised by a single father. So he deceived her: JTE has only a father. Then he added that JTE had everything, while in reality, she had to help her father with the business and to work hard... she is not a spoiled rich daughter...

You are right that Lee Rim doesn't understand Lee Gon at all. First, he only remembers Lee Gon as the nice and obedient boy who somehow defeated him. But he never saw him growing up later, hence he is not well acquainted how Lee Gon's mind works. Furthermore, the night of the putsch left a deep impact on Lee Gon which Lee Rim never got to see. In my analysis about the king Lee Gon,  I described him as someone who stopped believing in legends and myths, he only relied on math and physics. That's why he became a very rational and logical man. Therefore Lee Gon would never come to think that the woman with his mother's face would be his own mother. Lee Gon knew that LJH's mother was not his mother, he is not emotional.

Since he has become the personification of the devil himself, he can't understand the concept of love... as he is too self-obsessed and too focused on getting the ultimate power. Besides, he never loved anyone in his family, except himself... he looked down on his half-brother and his nephew, even LJI... just like the devil. That's why he doesn't even try to understand how the others are thinking. Right now, Lee Rim thinks that Luna is his ally but since in the beginning, she rejected him and could see his evilness, Luna will realize his deception ("JTE had loving parents, JTE had everything"). So far, no one was able to reject Lee Rim so directly... They were easily deceived but Luna's harsh words (she criticized him the way he poked at her wounds...) are a clue that she will be different, at some point she will remember this and betray Lee Rim.

Furthermore, I would like to point out that although JTE and Luna seem to be so different (detective-thief/healthy-sick/polite-rude), they do have a lot in common:

    - loyalty: Luna hurt the man because he betrayed her

    - her sense of protectiveness: she helps the child with the yo-yo

    - her sense for right and wrong: Luna is well aware of the consequences of her action. She knows that beating a person in front of a child is wrong;

    - both are strong-willed and try to rely on their own abilities. Both are not very feminine, compared to GSR. That's why I am expecting a redemption from Luna. Just like the rabbit brought Lee Gon to JTE, she might bring JTE to LEe Gon in the end.

SJ doppelganger is dead I think but he did not get any lightning. I am not sure PM killed her doppelganger. I am sure Lady Noh's doppelganger is no longer alive.

But SJ's doppelganger died a natural death... in my opinion, it only happens if the doppelganger was killed with the intention to erase the identity/switch the identity. For LJH, he was killed by his uncle... to ensure that the doppelganger wouldn't become a source of thread for him. When they were killed, the people responsible for their death knew about the existence of the parallel world.

    @mychoiyoung Thanks for the info.

But UNTIL she actually got back, I think she truly thought that she would become the Queen.

Her story is insanely bizarre and we're missing everything.  We NEED a PM centric episode, and with 4 episodes left, I don't know how this is going to happen.

If she knew about this all along, then she should not have been surprised by Luna not being JTE.  Even up to two episodes ago, she was confused about the ROK newspaper.  Also, if Donald Trump is Donald Trump in the ROK, then shouldn't he be something else Trump in the KOC?  So I don't know what that newspaper was even supposed to do, besides alert her of a different timeline and her doppelganger.  But so far, neither of the Jung Eun Chaes have any motivation to switch.  Doppelganger looks like she lives a casual but happy life, hanging out with friends at baseball games, shopping, a generally pleasant person who is fairly smart but compliant with the law.  PM is a miserable old bag, but she doesn't want to be President of a place she doesn't know.  Plus, she'll have to re run for election ever few years and she wants to be the Eternal Queen.

If the polar opposite thing works, maybe Doppelganger PM is a chaebol's daughter or someone in a high position and just had no ambition and lives simply and happily?  PM was born dirt poor and stepped on and rose to the top?  I still don't know what PM would want with her though.

You misunderstood me... she has just discovered it. As a politician, she was able to manipulate the citizens... so she could use the same method in ROK. Anyway, the temptation to hear that there is a parallel world got her curios. Furthermore, she is similar to Lee Rim as she has great ambitions. Notice that she just wanted to use LG in order to reach the highest place. So either she wants to become Lee Rim's queen and rule over two worlds or she might decide to become the ruler of ROK... the parallel world.

But why PM ko killed her doppelganger? I meant no use right. Just an ordinary citizen woudn't give extra benefit for her in KOC later. Just my 2 cents .

HEr motives are ambition and self-preservation... she might be interested in ruling in ROK because this a republic. She could become the president. Then she made sure that her doppelganger wouldn't come after her.

Let's guess... is it only happen to the people from Corea ....who travelled to and fro to Korea?

I have another idea: what if the scars are related to the doppelgangers? The scar appears, when the doppelganger is no longer alive and has been killed... That would explain why JTE has no scar as Luna is still alive but GSR has... because her doppelganger is already dead. LJH and his uncle have been killed by Lee Rim.

Hopes she will be beheaded once she back to ROC....

Strangely... I would find it much better if she remained in ROK and was convicted there. We have to wonder if the doppelganger in ROK is already dead. I have the impression that's the case as she had her ID and her clothes. Secondly, we see that she is very close to her mother despite her greed and ambition. So losing her mother forever... would be a terrible punishment. In jail and with no loving mother by her side seems to be a good verdict as well, as death is too short.

PM Koo will work together with LR. She is ambitious lady,.she will use whatever method to reach her goal.

She is already working for him as she was the one who leaked the most important info to Lee Rim. Lee Gon had told her before that he had proposed to a woman, then GSR had met JTE... so she knew the face of the woman loved by Lee Rim. That's why he kidnapped her to MOC so that he would propose a deal: the woman in exchange for the half of the flute. I believe that GSR revealed the proposal to LR so that the latter knew how JTE would be so precious to Lee Gon.

GSR has become now the -1....

@mrsj3n you are missing out on the extreme thirst here! Hurry onto this world and see the goodies we are getting! :joy:

exactly how we are feeling! Episode 12 must be PG 18+++ as someone mentioned it :joy:

@bebebisous33 do you think the YoYo boy’s conversation with TE officially proves that he is a deity? When he said “There is only one of me, I went to the other world” and “I am restoring the balance. There are too many enemies”, it proves to me that he is indeed a deity, no more doubts from me. I wasn’t expecting to get such a clear and direct explanation, either. There was a scene too when Luna ask why his thread is red and he said he did it himself. I now believe that he is Fate. Before, i was stuck between him being Fate, Death, Time or a Grim Reaper. But I forgot that even Fate can manipulate time, too. If Time is manipulated, Fate will try to restore it as it doesn’t like to be thrown off balance.

    ——

alright. Even with my FOMO, i must go to sleep or else I may miss out on live recaps! Noooo!! Can’t happen!! Lol.

Yes, he is a deity... The child with the yo-yo is the personification of a god. Like I had mentioned above, both objects (the yo-yo and the bike) are linked to equilibrium... with the right balance, you can ride a bike, just like with the right balance of strength, you can keep playing with the yo-yo. It doesn't matter what he really represents: fate or balance...

Striking is that when Luna asked him if he believed in god and the child answered with a yes, her reply was: "Then I'll be punished". It was as if Luna has unconsciously perceived his true nature. For her, everything he says is true.... Luna has already sensed it but at the same time, she feels that he needs to be protected hence she gave everything to him: her van and her knife. Strangely, she thinks that she has no one by her side and has no real home, while in reality the boy with the yo-yo gave her the feeling to be like her younger sibling. Luna will play a huge part in Lee Rim's demise in my opinion because of her closeness to the child with the yo-yo.

  9. @mrsj3n Yes, for me it was Prime Minister Goo Seo Ryung in ROK. That's why Lee Gon's secretary told him that they couldn't meet her nor speak to her. Remember that Lee Gon uses the excuse of the study in order to spend time in ROK, she did the same.

I also believe that the white haired man by her side is someone working for Lee Rim but the latter didn't want to approach GSR so directly. Notice how it worked: the white haired man provided her with the pictures of the corrupted politician, then he sent her to her ex-husband who on the other hand linked her to Lee Rim. The chairman has every reason to support Lee Rim as he was sentenced to prison under Lee Gon's ruling.

I am a happy camper.  So much to love in this episode

    1. Everybody kicked richard simmons. YAY!
    2. TE is no damsel in distress!
    3. OkNam's & LG's memories of the Prince is heartbreaking.  LG's breakdown heartrending as well.
    4. Can I just say - I HATE the PM here. When she smiled during the Prince's funeral because LG was in despair - who does that??? With that how will she get a redemptive arc? If not, she can rot in hell with Evil Uncle! Please include that over privileged son of the Prince.  God, his Father just got murdered and all he can think of is what he wants to get?!
    5. Speaking of Evil Uncle, he even has a shipyard!  I hope this means the navy battle with JPN will come into play later to make that segment truly worthy of its inclusion in the drama.  Am glad he acknowledges that his nephew is not a push over and can also kill, when warranted.
    6. Yoyo- Girl - thank goodness for some reinforcement! Given that Evil Uncle had 25 years as an advantage, Yoyo-Girl finally made the call.  Well we never doubted she would side with LG, right?
    7. SJ was also no push over.
    8. LG shouting "Protect her! She is the future Queen of the Kingdom of Corea!" had me swooning and then laughing cos - hey kiddo, she has not accepted yet! Assuming much? Hahahahaha
    9. King is so good using his coconut (BTW, that was the sexiest chalkboard writing I have ever seen, LOL). Then he is a great warrior. And then he is that HAWT?! And he cooks! How can she not accept?!
    10. Badass rescue scene. Again I ask, why are they using sword? And what's with the SWAT?  For display only?

I called that one :) I think there were others, too.

Feels also good that we were right in thinking that LG in the last segment of epi 10 is from another time.

I look forward to more richard simmons-kicking in the succeeding epis! And now I have to stew on LG's discovery about the lengthening of frozen time & time stopping forever on both worlds.... Yikes!

That's what I have been thinking. There were police cars, yet only the cavalry was really used to protect JTE. It might look good on the surface but this appeared rather stupid as Lee Gon used the SWAT for the bookstore.

About the Prime Minister Goo Seo Ryung, I would like to point out a few observations:

    This is her CV:

    - Seojin International High School

    - Corea University

    - announcer

    - main news anchor

    - married the second son of KU family

    - became a politician and after 7 years, she was nominated as Prime Minister

What caught my attention here is how easily she climbed up the social ladders. When she admits herself that she climbed up there from the very bottom, the listeners wonder how she could have achieved that with a single mother who sells fish at the market. I mean, how could GSR visit "Seojin International High School", when the school name seems to refer to a school for privileged people?

Whatever she wanted, she achieved it on her own... that's what she is thinking but my impression is actually the opposite. She received help all the time and must have even been sponsored by Lee Rim but she never realized it. We already had a good example: the scandal with the other politician. On the surface, it was her husband's help... but the chairman Choe has already connection with Lee Rim. Someone might argue that she received a scholarship so that she could enter that school and later that university. Yet we have to wonder the origin of this selection. Don't you find it strange that her ex-husband could find the pictures of Lee Rim so easily?

In my opinion, Lee Rim chose GSR as his queen... just like JTE was chosen by Lee Gon for a very long time.

I believe that he sent the Prime Minister to ROK in order to let her see that she will never be Lee Gon's queen but she just needs to choose Lee Rim's side. Then he will make her queen.

There is no coincidence in their meeting between JTE and GSR. She couldn't hide her desire for expensive clothes for a long time. When she arrived at the tea shop, she was already acting as her true self. Since she smiled at the funeral and quite enjoy LG's despair, it becomes clear that GSR doesn't really love Lee Gon but has been eyeing him for his position and wealth.

In other words, GSR's success is not really self-made in reality and she has become quite arrogant. I found it really interesting that she keeps connecting greed and ambition with sincerity. She sees herself as a good person since she doesn't hide her greed and ambition. However, greed and ambition are rather flaws as they are synonyms for selfishness, avidity and pretension.

I don't think KES is trying something similar to Edgar Poe's because if it was the case then Lee Gon would have died same time his doppleganger was killed in ROK. One Doppelganger can die in one world and the other survive. It's not linked while one can be poor and the other rich. It's more realistic based imo with what KES going with currently when it comes down to Multiverse logical

I am well aware that the writer won't adapt this idea literally. Yet since there is a balance between the two worlds and the equilibrium was disturbed, when people started killing their doppelgangers, I have the impression that these people will be definitely punished by the gods so that their existence is erased. I have the feeling that their sins won't go unpunished by the heavens. Since this story contains some supernatural elements, I do think that the punishment by laws is not enough and even can not be applied, especially because people are not aware of the parallel world and the body has been disposed of in the other world.

I'm not saying this is how it is, just that there are many possibilities.

The Land of Oz was well established, but also imaginary.

The suggestion isn't that two worlds merge (or coexist) using a gate, but that there would be only one world.

Everything which was split returns back to one.

Perhaps the doubles are all manifestations of personalities which have split.

Maybe their personalities will merge back into their one self.

We just wait and see what KES has for us.

@Time loop In literature, doppelgangers are used to represent the other self... and for example, in Edgar Poe's story with a doppelganger, the man kills the doppelganger but he dies the same way he killed his doppelganger. Since they represent the opposite of each other (funny-serious for JY/ES aso)... this would explain why the child with the yo-yo is fighting against Lee Rim's plan.

    @vangsweetie637 @mrsj3n @2handsintertwined @ktcjdrama@Dramafreak @YongZura⁷@imels @mamabear @syntyche @Edgar Pordwed @Guyangi_Dalpeongi

The scar on his face could be a huge clue about Lee Rim's possible future. This taking is quite interesting because I couldn't help myself thinking about the novel "Dorian Gray" written by Oscar Wilde. The most important thing in this story is that the main protagonist remains young and beautiful, while he becomes more and more immoral: at the end, he even becomes a murderer. All his sins are revealed in the painting his friend made for him. Dorian gray had expressed the wish to remain forever young and let the painting take all his aging which came true. Now, you can understand why I am connecting Dorian Gray with Lee Rim.

The latter is a sinner as he commits many crimes but his "immorality" and "evilness" is not perceived as he doesn't age. Yet the burning scar appears on his face turning him into a monster... in this moment his sins are somehow revealed. Maybe the story doesn't end with Lee Rim's arrest but he is punished by the gods and his "evilness" is revealed, when the ugliness appears revealing all his sins which leads to his death.

@LeftCoastOppa Yea thats exactly what I'm thinking too!!!!!

@bebebisous33 Go to my post on pg. 351, where I was posted a comparison of JTE's laptop in ep1 to other episodes. Also, look how the ep1 room is the same as the ROK version featured in other episodes. You said, "it is impossible", implying that it cannot happen. I'm saying the impossible can happen. Speaking from a view of a scientist, we never say anything is impossible, we simply say that it has yet to be discovered. We tend to view what we see with some sense of doubt. TKEM is not all about faith and belief. Sure, there are many philosophical arguments made in TKEM, but KES also interconnects these arguments to literary elements as well as to science, mathematics, and popular culture. What is "real" and what is "fiction" is relative. We as viewers see KOC as "fiction", while if we were in a sense to enter the world of TKEM, would the characters themselves say KOC is "fiction"? Similarly, if in our reality a parallel world exists, would its inhabitants say our world was "fiction" and theirs was "real" or vice versa?

Like I said, what I posted on pg. 351 is potential evidence to show that the scene is in ROK. We as observers or viewers of TKEM, do not know for certain. We are like the observers in Schrodinger's cat experiment !

I went there to page 351 and found no post from you. Then I looked at your activities around monday and found nothing again. But okay...

On the other hand, you are somehow twisting my words: I never said "impossible", I just quoted your own words saying that even my theory which seems impossible could be possible. Furthermore, I am very well aware about the problem between sciences and belief, since I wrote myself a long analysis about it.

I believe that you misunderstood me in another point. We as viewers don't belong to the world of KOC... this is a reality. But why would you send Lee Rim to ROK, when Lee Rim comes from KOC? The reality for this story would be to send Lee Rim to the future KOC and not the ROK as he doesn't exist there.

@bebebisous33 Pretty sure that interrogation scene is in ROK ....not KOC. If there's anything we should learn from writer KES is that the impossible can be possible in the world of TKEM.

See post potentially proving the interrogation scene is in ROK!

Sorry but your link led me to nowhere... only to page 351... And I found nothing about it.

ROK exists for real, while KOC is just fiction, that's why I am tending to think that the ending will be in KOC and not ROK. And even your words "the impossible can be possible in the world of TKEM" can be seen as a proof for my theory. Furthermore it is all about faith and belief...

Besides there is another possibility: that the two worlds merge in the end and the writer create a world constituted of things from ROK and KOC.

Same here.  I mean the paper is of course Corea  because that's where LR originated. He would not have any paper in Korea, right? Plus, SJ & TE would not be in a position to conduct an investigation in the Kingdom.  Unless @bebebisous33 you are referring to a time loop where SJ & TE have always been Corean citizens

But how would Korea explain the existence of KOC? It is impossible. In my opinion, this marks the beginning and the ending of the story... Notice that Lee Gon keeps saying this: the beginning and the ending of something. Yes, Lee Gon's time travel will change many things... Lee Rim will still kill someone as his face is covered in blood and he is not denying the murder but the time line has changed. He is arrested in February 2020...

So what you are saying is that JTE is from Corea? The question is when did she cross and what is the reason behind the crossing over because I just don't see it that way. Why would Lee Rim make her cross over

No, I never said that Lee Rim took her. The child with the yo-yo took her, when she was a child, just like Merlin took Arthur from the mother. It happened before Lee Rim discovered the parallel world in my opinion. Even JTE noticed that someone was trying to keep the balance (end of the episode 7). She felt the interference of someone.

Everything is predestined... JTE embraced her fate but Lee Rim is trying to fight against his destiny, he wants to change his position in the world but it is pointless, yet he has not realized it.

Well, remember that the buildings and the rooms are similar from one world to the other, it is just sometimes that they are not situated at the same place. Therefore I am still convinced that JTE is in Corea where she originally belonged. Let us not forget that in the story of King Arthur, the boy was not raised by his parents. He was taken away by Merlin who helped the king to sleep with the woman he loved.

My take only - no, they are not. The ones who have memories of time loop are LG & LR (LL), both hold the half of flute. The others will have no memory of past time loop. That's why they looked like they did not know LR's relation to Corea and that he is already 70.

    Happy theorizing!!! :)

@kaqueski The first scene in this drama happens in KOC and not in ROK. If you look at the symbol on the paper, you'll recognize the symbol of Corea and not Korea:image.png

So the lieutnant Jeong Tae Eul is living with SJ in Corea and not Korea. That's why I believe that JTE's true origin was from Corea and not from Korea. She must have been switched by the child with the yo-yo in order to keep the balance. I had already mentioned this theory before. My clues so far were:

    - She has become close to SJ who is a citizen of Corea in reality

    - her mother died of cancer and we know that Luna is suffering from cancer

But the most important clue is the following:

    image.pngimage.png

Lee Gon started feeling pain on his shoulder the moment he went to the other world. So far, we only saw it once on Lee Rim. Since there is a rule for the phenomenon of time stopping, there must be a rule for the scar as well. In my opinion, this is a warning, when someone from Korea (except Lee Gon and Lee Rim) comes to Corea or the reverse. When Lee Rim's scar appeared, Lee Gon had just traveled to Korea with Jo Yeong on his side. Once they are in the parallel world, Lee Gon or Lee Rim can no longer feel the disturbance.

In other words, my theory is that JTE and SJ from the episode 1 have no idea about the existence of the parallel world, ROK.

@Guyangi_Dalpeongi I am not that pessimistic about JTE...

I also have a theory that the burns on Lee Gon's back are related to the passage engraved on the four tiger sword. And the sword is definitely the weapon against Lee Rim and the flute.

And here this is the announcement of the next topic: "The Earth is flat: JTE and her relationship to sciences and belief" Interested ? ;) Let me know if you want to get tagged.

But this is for this weekend!

    Dear @bebebisous33,

Just wanted to thank you. Interesting take and very plausible theories. Switching of luna and JTE by whom + why will be critical.

I am just praying that they wrap the story well. 7 hours of storytelling -- things are possible and i want them to deliver. :)

    #fightingKing

    Thanks a lot... :)

The thing is that the opening scene seems to be the ending of the story in my opinion that's why I don't think that JTE is meant to die. Lee Gon believes that JTE belongs to ROK, because he met her there, but what if it was not the case?

By closing the gate, SJ is forced to return to MOC and it would be the same for JTE, if she came from MOC in reality.

Furthermore, if Luna belongs to ROK, this means that her real name should be JTE, and it would be the reverse for JTE. She would become Luna.

Then we have this in the prayer:The sun and the moon are formed. It could be a reference of Lee Gon (the sun) and JTE (the moon). When they both meet, then they can defeat the evil coming from the mountains and the streams. Notice that Lee Rim used the gate that is underground... Another allusion to the mountain.

@MairaA @Alice Wonderland Guess who rewatch from episode 1 again? LOL

In episode 1, LR was wearing the king's ring when he went took the Four Tiger Sword.

And in episode 10..  the late Prince Uncle said that is the King's ring.

But I wonder why did LR has it at the first place?

Are you guys thinking that the ring is also part of the magical deal for everything to work?

Ring + sword + flute = Incredible magic?

@bebebisous33 I love JTE's father and I do hope his doppelganger if he exist in KOC will be as kind as him in ROK.

But for poor Luna to be all alone in KOC, I think the chances for him to be alive might be slim.

    :tears:

@gwin I think LR's ultimate goal is just to get the flute. Not really to be King. If he wants to be King, he will not openly rebel and kill the King. It will be controversial for him to take the throne.

He wanted something more than just a King.

I think like what @bebebisous33 said. LR thinks he is much more powerful than god.

Honestly... don't wish to complicate things further and drive myself mad. LOl

I'm just gonna believe that there's only 1 do over and that is to catch LR.

The sudden disappearance of LG in episode 10 is not past or future LG.. but rather time might have stopped and LG take that moment to leave JTE before he gets tempted to drop whatever he has in mind.

More might be revealed in episode 11 because based on the director's style.. there is always more than meets the eye based on the ending.

    Have faith everyone!

Well, Lee Rim wants to be king in the end but he legitimates his ambition with the flute. As the owner of the flute, he would become a god and would be so powerful that he can only rule over the weaks. His justification is that his half-brother didn't realize the real value of the flute.
