Well, it was a treat, watching Joo Hyuk in Unexpected Business. As a new fan, shall I weigh in on his guest appearance?

 

I think he loves connecting with children. His eyes lit up, and his voice and gestures were soft and gentle with the kids. My heart melted. He didn't say much to the kids as he was probably shy. But small smiles, gentle voice and actions are just fine to me. 

 

He was probably so enduring that even his sunbaenims linked arms or gave his head a gentle pat as a sign of affection. 

 

As a fan, I thoroughly enjoyed his quiet presence onscreen. His bare face, the dark shadows under his eyes, his shaggy hair, were rather refreshing and relatable. And his anxiousness regarding his mistakes were rather normal to a lot of us who are starting something new. Glad Yoo Jae Suk made that call and assured him that his blunders are exactly what the variety PDs would want and enjoy.

 

Was rather sad to see him go home after his part-time role at the store! Hope to see him on screen again soon.

Hello hello! It wasn't me (was it @The Reel Life) but I did say that I support this pairing! This news was such a welcome shock! If they both accept the job, then I will gladly watch them! I can't fully imagine the story/plot yet though. That part I am dubious but I am happy to be surprised with a great plot from an obscure synopsis. 

 

I didn't watch Search WWW but I have seen good reviews. I watched the first episode when it first aired and my first impression was that it had strong women characters.

It has been a minute since I have been here. @inBinJinitrust that Soop notice comforts me on some level. Thanks! I am glad companies and mags are still featuring him. They still have trust in him and they disassociated him from the whole brouhaha. I must admit, while some family issues have been keeping me away, the scandal and the released statements have been difficult to read. My sensitive body may have appreciated the time out from the news too. 

 

And the Esquire/Dior photoshoot! He looks so cool and stunning! I think jet black hair makes him look more striking. Ugh so gorgeous. My favourite is him on the chair with the beret.

@Sunny LinThe interview made him more endearing to me and made me more curious of who JH is. I am whipped. Just like how his fluffy hair is whipped by the wind on the fishing boat in Unexpected Business. I love his hair now that it's all fluffy and shaggy and long. It suits his puffed cheeks. Hee. 

 

I have concluded that one of the biggest reasons why I like Joo hyuk's facial features so much is that he has the sweetest smile and eyes. Add on his soft gentleness and sensitivity, I don't think I will be bored anytime soon. Who wouldn't want to catch him smiling from time to time. If I were his Co star, I may be the type trying to coax a smile and laugh out of him for my own selfish joys off camera.

Can I express disbelief at an old news? I was searching YouTube for his clips on School 2015 and that resulted in an unearthing of unbelievable SLS brouhaha. What I cannot believe that happened was an award given to the main lead and second lead! Sure it was driven by popularity vote but I was incredulous. The video of that award show is on YouTube and my heart hurt for our baby! He didn't smile and while I think he may be uncomfortable, I am glad he didn't feel that he has to. I am rather glad that I saw some actors who weren't amused or overjoyed with the award. The recipients were just that and they may just have to feign delight, I understand that. Just that I dislike that kind of award very much. To me it is rather disrespectful? 

 

I am rather glad that cable TV in South Korea do not have awards. 

 

I wonder how our Joo Hyuk felt at that time. Ooof. My heart hurts.

I don't mind our Joo Hyuk acting with Yumi again at all. In fact, I will love it. Such great chemistry and they bounce off each others' wit and comedic timing really well. I was totally sold on their non-romance romance. It made me want to watch them again and again. I think Yumi, writer and director make a great team with Joo Hyuk here. Hong In Pyo is memorable. Totally different from his other roles. Definitely a favourite Joo Hyuk character. Well done Joo Hyuk! I love Hong In Pyo!

I will gladly watch anything of him at this point but perhaps a romcom is a break. I agree with @inBinJinitrustthat you may try Weightlifting Fairy. To me it is a well-produced youth drama. I watched it when it aired and while I was more invested in the female lead's story, NJH as the campus boyfriend was a sweet and comical treat. I thought his character has growth and he played the role well. The character didn't annoy me, when usually uber sweet onscreen college boyfriends have a tendency to do so. I wasn't loving NJH at that time FYI.

@inBinJinitrustgood observation about the ad focusing on hands that create! All I can remember from the ad is him, his hand, in all his gorgeousness!

 

You have a point about Knetz scrutiny. If he has a sensitive, anxious soul(I suspect that he has such), he surely wants to self-preserve. While I don't mind finding out who he is dating if it ever comes out, I rather prefer he admits it when he and his partner are really serious far into the future. Now I don't mind him dating anyone in secret at all, or denying it if they are discovered. The selfish me do want to see more of him and his hobbies though. 

 

On another note, I watched clips of The Theory of Everything, as Joo Hyuk watches Ed's Stephen on repeat. And I wonder if he modeled Do San from Ed's Stephen. If it isn't for School Nurse Files, I most certainly am sure it may be for Do San. My heart swelled at the fact that he works so hard and my heart is broken as Do San received so much hate. I hope to see him soon in the upcoming drama and movie. In the meantime, I cant wait for March. I am glad he is close with some actors I really like. He is in a supportive circle and he is in good hands? 

 

I searched for Kim Tae Ri and I find that I like her. I wouldn't mind Joo Hyuk match with her in a drama too. And she journals? A plus for me.

I'm glad you liked those parts. You made a point about their possible growth in the end but I didn't quite feel that NJH's character had much development. I wish I can see what you interpreted from the ending so that I can have good feelings about the movie. I can appreciate NJH's acting range, even though I think it was underused. His facial expression in the ride the second time gave me an idea of what was going on between them, In just a split second. The pairing wasn't the idealistic feel good romance in my opinion. It was more of a pair of troubled souls who shouldnt be together, or who are aware of why they are together and how their partnership benefits them in one way or another. Watching it is painful, even if these pairings happen in reality. So kudos to both NJH and HJM for playing these characters.

Yes! Do San is the one who made my heart beat so strong! This human character is so soft and supportive and nurturing and brilliant. He is our own Prince that's for sure. I really can't imagine anyone else playing Do San. I hate to think about NJH reading those hate comments. I even believe that this hate resulted in the lack of promotional photos and videos of Suzy and NJH. I am very grateful that Suzy continued to post photos of her and NJH during SU airing. To me, her photos support their characters and their partnership and that no amount of hate is going to change her opinion.

Do San has become one of the most memorable leads. So fresh and different. I can't imagine anyone else playing him. Do San made me want someone like him in a healthy relationship. Soft, supportive, devoted, sees me as equal. Brilliant and driven. 

 

I remember reading NJH's interview that he wants to show all sides of him. Otherwise, he will feel trapped. And that alone validates my liking for him. Heck, he even encourages me to be at home with my quirks and awkwardness and not allow others to shame me for who I am. He teaches me that if people comment about how I am, like not comfortable with eye contact, I will say yes I am that way, and not feel disqualified. 

 

I am glad I became his fan now.

His personality is very endearing. I am riveted. He expresses and describes people, situations and life principles really well which made me really curious and thirsty for more! I like his Gentleness and kind hearted words and actions in interviews too. When he teases, it is a lot of heart fluttering fun for me! Hee. 

 

I hope you get to watch Josee soon. Curious about how you review it. I didn't watch the Japanese movie. Perhaps I shouldn't say more in fear of spoilers. Many loved the movie, and find the actors worked hard on the roles. I am impressed with NJH's ability to emote that's for sure. I believe that with the right team, he can shine in melo, and even thriller. I want him to play a bad dude for once.

And welcome @kawaiinoona! So good to have another one more NJH fan here. I still follow his fan Twitter accounts but honestly enjoy Soompi-type conversations and interactions much more. There feels like there is a lot of toxicity happening on Twitter by his anti-fans, and sometimes it is so ridiculous to read gosh. The peace here in his Soompi Forum is just pure bliss. @inBinJinitrust has been feeding us with good ol’ (and new) NJH content, so thankful! I too love his personality and how gentle and kind yet cheeky he can be. His attitude and approach towards life is very admirable indeed. 
 

interestingly, I have also thought that IU would be a nice match in a melodrama for him. Another one I would like to see him act with is Kim Tae Ri. I feel like he is abit like LJS in the sense that I think they shine more when they act with Noonas. (Nonetheless his chemistry with Suzy was still very good). As for male actors, it would be a dream if he acted with my other fav Jang Hyuk hahaha.

Anti-fan posts still going on?? I don't get it either. I shake my head reading those posts from trolls. It goes to show how perhaps the Jipyeong character may illicit these kind of responses. I used to not have hate for Jipyeong as he is lovely is some ways, but this character is starting to lose some more of my favour as the toxicity is pushing me towards me finding more good points of Do San from fans who post supportive comments about Do San's soft and supportive nature. I am glad I have the forum here and some more fan accounts to support Do San and NJH in peace. 

 

Yay! Another peer supports the idea of Jiwogi and IU! I am not alone! IU really engages me and knocks me off with her emotional punches. I am her fan by the way. I love her songs and her acting. Her interview with her brother on life made me think that she and NJH are old souls who may have a lot to talk about together in a conversation. That chemistry might just work on screen. 

 

I believe he had great chemistry with Suzy too. Their story could have been better without the love triangle though. (I currently ship them. Not sure how long this will last though). I kinda agree that he works really well with noonas. Jung Yumi is another example. 

 

Jang Hyuk! That's interesting! Hmmm. This is going to be fun..thinking of matches with NJH.
