as Man of the Year in RTHK poll
Korean heartthrob voted Man of the Year, ahead of politicians and protesters
In a year when politics and protests in Hong Kong captured worldwide attention, a 26-year-old Korean heartthrob has been named Man of the Year by radio listeners.
Occupy leaders and political issues dominated other categories in the RTHK poll, which received 27,000 online votes earlier this month, but the No 1 position went to actor Kim Soo-hyun.
With 41 per cent of the votes, Occupy student leaders Joshua Wong Chi-fung, Alex Chow Yong-kang and Lester Shum were named Combo of the Year.
They beat the government's political reform trio, led by Chief Secretary Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, and the three Occupy Central co-founders, which came second and third respectively with a combined 28 per cent of votes.
Candidates for the poll were nominated by the audience of an RTHK morning show in late November. The public was then allowed to vote online between December 2 and 21. There was no system to prevent anyone from voting more than once.
The leading actor from Korean melodrama series My Love from the Star claimed the title with about 28 per cent of the votes, followed by former Ming Pao chief editor Kevin Lau Chun-to, who received about one-fifth of the votes.
Lau almost lost his life in a mysterious knife assault which was seen as an attack on press freedom.
The third place went to police chief superintendent Steve Hui Chun-tak, who also came third in the Quote of the Year category for his famous comment "I will now recap in English" in English, with a familiar local accent, during the regular media briefing he chaired during the protests.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai was named Woman of the Year, followed by award-winning cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze and Kim's co-star Jun Ji-hyun.
In other categories, over 40 per cent of those who voted chose the yellow umbrella as Hot Item of the Year, while "I want true universal suffrage" became Quote of the Year and the leaders of the Hong Kong Federation of Students were picked as People of the Year; both with about one-third of the votes.

Q2. How did you prepare for the role of Do Min Joon?

Hence, the first impression that he gives people is a feeling of aloofness. In order to portray the uniqueness of this character trait, I have worked hard for it.
Q3. What is the similarity between you and Do Min Joon?
Do Min Joon is full of rich life experiences, he is very smart and omniscient. If I am to talk about any similarity, regardless of any problem, Do Min Joon is able to resolve it effortlessly, just like a long-legged ahjusshi. It would be great if I can be like that. During the process where I acted as Do Min Joon, I have also learnt a lot.
Q4. Cheon Song Yi, whom you fell in love with in the drama, what is her charm?
Cheon Song Yi is a spontaneous, prideful and a little headstrong person. However, she is really very innocent and gets hurt easily. In front of Do Min Joon, she makes up transparent lies, just like a child. She is also very frank and sincere in expressing her feelings, these aspects are really cute. When Cheon Song Yi is drunk, she has lots of outrageous behavior, but it does not make people angry at all (laughs). She is really an adorable character whom people will love.
Q5. When acting opposite Jun Ji Hyun, was there any highlight?
I worked together with Jun Ji Hyun in ‘The Thieves’, it was our second time this time. We worked very well together and naturally, many impromptu things occurred. During a scene where Cheon Song Yi was being filmed, originally I was not supposed to laugh, but I really could not hold back and I laughed. Korean Star Kim Soo-Hyun Earns $90 Million Just From Commercials And Appearances
Posted on 12/24/2014 at 6:53 PM Robert Downey Jr. made headlines earlier this year after Forbes named him Hollywood’s highest-paid actor, but at $75 million, the Avengers star still isn’t making the kind of dough that Asia’s biggest name does.
According to reports, Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has made approximately $81 million this year, although he isn’t making it for his movie roles.
Like most Asian actors, Soo-hyun earns most of his cash from endorsement deals and commercials.
The 26-year-old has been a big star in Korea for years, but he crossed over into the lucrative Chinese market earlier this year when his drama series, You Who Came From The Stars, became a sensation in the country and one of the biggest TV shows of the past decade in Asia.
Soo-hyun filmed approximately 30 commercials this year in both China and South Korea at between $800,000-$1.87 million apiece. He also picked up about $6 million for a fan-tour, and was getting paid up to $500,000 for a single appearance on Chinese variety shows. At one point his time was even being measured by the second, with the actor receiving $160,000 for a 90-second appearance at a car show in Beijing.
Reports vary on Soo-hyun’s total income, but some media outlets claim he’s made about $90 million all up this year (I assume that’s gross income before all his managers, agents, handlers and other expenses are paid).
Whether or not that number’s been exaggerated remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: Kim Soo-hyun is making big bucks!
The same thing could happen to a lucky Hollywood actor next year, as ABC is currently in the process of developing an American remake of You Who Came From The Stars.

Kim Soo-hyun and Lee Yu-ri have been named most memorable actor and actress of the year.
In a poll of 1,703 people over 13 nationwide by Gallup Korea, Kim topped the list with 19.6 percent due to his performance in the hit drama "My Love from the Star."
Lee, who impressed viewers with her performance as a femme fatale in MBC weekend drama "Jang Bo-ri Is here," came second with 18.2 percent, beating Jeon Ji-hyun (17.6 percent), who played opposite Kim in "My Love from the Star." Kim and Jeon enjoyed enormous popularity after the drama and became the most sought-after stars in advertising.
Lee was mostly favored by people in their 50s, while Jeon was more popular among those under 40.
Song Yun-ah, who returned with MBC weekend drama "Mama" after a six-year hiatus, ranked fourth with 6.1 percent, followed by Oh Yeon-seo (5.9 percent) who starred in "Jang Bo-ri Is here."

Baby is nominated in 15th Huading Award for "Global Best Drama Actor" held in Macau this 18th January 2015. So...we'll be seeing baby again then... cool!!!
History
The 1st Huading Awards poll was held on December 17, 2007. The name Huading, Hua comes from The Biography of Book of Documents, it also means the Chinese nation; Ding comes from Records of the Grand Historian, it means word carries weight.
On October 7, 2013, the 10th Huading Awards ceremony was held in Macao.
On June 1, 2014, the 11th Huading Awards ceremony was held in Hollywood.
This year...it is back in Macau!
