Will they ever finish watching a movie together?? hahaha I feel like that might be a running joke until the end of the series.. 3 more eps!!
I think most of us saw YSJ's life being at risk coming.. just a matter of when. I kind of like that they brought back the NK soldier .. makes the introduction scene less random to me. And who knows, the scene might have been just set up to make the NK soldier look like a bad guy, but he might have been coming to help/warn them about something else that was going down. Or he could just be a bad guy. But I would appreciate the twist since I kind of liked their begrudging respect for each other. Like if circumstances had been different, they could have been bros in another life type thing.
And yeah, bullet proof vests should just be mandatory right? haha. But maybe it wasn't supposed to be such a dangerous mission. And it looked like their guard was down too. Who knows. But no bulletproof vests = more drama ahah
About doctors not operating on people they're close to or related to. They are not supposed to as they would be too personally invested and emotionally compromised. BUT seeing as this drama is not always true to medical standards or realistic ones at that, as a viewer, I want her to be the one that saves him. And I want it to be intense! And for KMY to shine!!
I actually think that bringing in the whole Argus dilemma and what to do after you're done serving your nation as an active soldier would be interesting. And I wonder if the story would then somehow reach out to Daniel and bring him back into the story that way (assuming he's not some evil twist as others have speculated). Since he was introduced as a humanitarian doctor with a wealthy background .. right? Because while YSJ serves his nation because he is a soldier, he also really lives by his own code and honor (protecting the elderly, young, and the.. pretty lol). So I feel like if he can still be fulfilled in some other way doing those three, he would still be happy in the end. And with KMY having been denied her loan and unable to pursue her own clinic, I think she would be open to change too.
To be honest, yes, today's episode was slower in pace for the most part and a lot of fluff. And as much as I love GooWon couple, I wish they didn't have to break up AGAIN. I just feel a bit tired by their story because the conflict mainly arises from what seems like ego/pride--YMJ's dad and SDY. Is it so bad if her dad ultimately agrees to their relationship for his daughter's sake? I get it, SDY wants acknowledgment. But let's not think of just the battle, but also of the war here, right? At least they got some more cute scenes in before they split again.
And I will say that while I really enjoyed the cute scenes between KMY and YSJ, without an overhanging danger of either a big bad like Argus hanging around or the will-they-or-wont'-they of the OTP, the first half felt a little slow for me. LIke there was no tension, so the pace of the episode, while it was still fun, felt a bit lacking compared to all the high drama before. Because since ep 1 things felt like they were constantly moving and happening. It was still a nice break though and I liked how it showed how "normalcy" might look like. But I'm glad YSJ's life being endangered came up relatively quickly so they can show us more about KMY and YSJ's developing love story and what happens beyond just coming back to Korea. A lot of other kdramas end when either the OTP finally get together.. but isn't that when the lovestory really just begins?? So yeah, tell us more writers!
And could we get more kiss scenes before the end?? A surprise kiss scene would be amazing.. And I hope tomorrow's ep isn't full of JUST flashbacks and there's actual progress made in the storyline.
KES has been pretty good at moving the story along so far .. so .. I hope she stays consistent in that matter

Awww SHK seems to be really happy lately. Her drama is doing well and she's being well received by the public. She went through a tough period for a while but she's always been the quiet, steady but strong type of work mentality.
I'm so happy she's finding success and gaining new fans

Let's just live in our own fanfic world after it's done, aye? Hahaha...
hahahaa honestly I actually wish the remaining eps and ending along with the BTS ep will be satisfying enough that I don't feel the need for fanfic. That only really happens for me if I feel unsatisfied or unhappy with the ending. But that's just me. I just really want a good ending. Not a sad one. Not one that feels unfinished.
On another note, I know that a melodrama can also be in reference to romance. But in my experience, a melodrama is typically sad. So it kind of concerns me whenever SJK keeps emphasizing that above all the different genres shown by the drama, he ultimately feels it's a melodrama and to focus on the couples. >.< Just a small bit of doubt. I really hope to him melo=romance.
And yeah, the thread has been a bit quieter this week. And the shipper thread has been hustling. It just depends on the type of news being released I think since otherwise, this thread would be bombarded by SHK SJK shipping posts and other people and mods would be unhappy with that.
Plus, like previously mentioned, ep 12 left us not on a cliffhanger, but wrapped up a bunch of storylines at the moment. But with 4 eps remaining, I think there will still be a lot to discuss, no worries. The article with the director was interesting.. and kind of concerning.. since he mentioned that every remaining ep might feel like the last one.. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?? haha
OOH! but a new BTS was released like I had hoped!!! It featured the scene where she asks him to get them coffee from ep 12. It's so cute and they are so giggly. But I don't really know why SJK can't stop laughing.. haha I feel like something must have triggered it cuz it seemed like they showed the NG after other NG's were made. What was so funny? hahaha
New ep tomorrow guys!!! I'm so curious! I hope rating are even higher!

@melissala hahaha I know. That thread was moving so fast because of their travel to HK.
And technically most of it was just spazzing over SJK and SHK.. which gets you flagged here since it isn't technically totally drama related lol since it's a thread shipping the actual actors and not just the characters. And I think it's getting harder to not ship them because their onscreen chemistry is so GOOD.. and with interviews/pictures of the both them being so scarce.. I think there's like a real thirst right now haha. That thread just exploded!
Once the press conference gets going and interviews start coming out about the drama, there should be more activity here. And especially since ep 12 kind of felt like they were wrapping things up in Urk, the end didn't leave us on a cliffhanger. There's just kind of less to discuss in terms of the story right now I think because the viewers are just in a wait and see mode for the most part. It's hard to say what will happen right now, except for what we can speculate from ep 13 preview, which isn't very much.
But it's not totally bad since I feel viewers are also blurring SHK/SJK with their feels for KMY/YSJ... so while there is less articles at this moment about the drama, there are still articles being released covering their arrival in HK, which in turn is keeping interest for their drama. So I hope, despite the lack of a cliffhanger at the end of ep 12, more viewers continue to stay interested and push the ratings up for the remainder of the show.
On another note, I wish more BTS was released. >.<
But I wonder if they're now saving everything for the 3rd episode of the specials, since the first 2 special episodes are basically highlights/recap of the show I believe. And the last one is supposed to be more BTS. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I also think it's pretty funny that KBS Entertainment Tonight has basically been almost all about DOTS the past 2 eps. It just shows how much KBS is trying to milk this thing. hahaha I wonder if they will interview anybody else from the cast next week

maybe the ending is on the wrecked ship, i have seen the picture both of them sitting on the deck with casual cloth white-white
That was a scene was already broadcast and shown to be KMY's imagination and wishful thinking after she rejected YSJ and he left for Korea and before the earthquake. Kind of like, she wished that would happen.
It could be alluding to the future. It is KES who is writing this drama haha.
For now, I don't think it's the end shot. The ending could definitely end up there as we had previously discussed. And I doubt they would show a screenshot of the last scene. But who knows..

Ah, I thought of this exact scenario. I really hope it doesn't go this route because it would feel so unsatisfactory to me. I would much rather they return together. Or at least not have them be separated for a long period and then have him randomly show up at the end you know?
But please KES, I hope you are more creative than this.
Ugh, I would just really hate this type of ending. It feels like a cop out ending to me. Even though it really would be a very typical kdrama thing to do.
JG said the ending would be satisfactory.
SO I'm hoping his word holds true.

Haha I laughed when I read the netizen comments saying how they expected to see the words "thank you for watching" at the end of today's episode.
I mean, I expected KES to not drag out the whole kidnapping situation (especially since YSJ was only given 3 hrs! lol) but I didn't really expect her to kill Argus so quickly. lol. Granted, I did expect YSJ to kill him at some point. And he was never made out to be one of those invincible villains since YSJ had plenty of previous opportunities to kill him. It was really a matter of when I guess.
I do wish, however, that the story would have shown a bit more of how he turned so bad. I know he mentioned that it was essentially for the money before. But it just seemed like kind of a weak explanation for me. Like there must have been some major turning point. It would have made for a more interesting villain and also possibly made the dichotomy between YSJ and Argus that much stronger, as a man who was able to give up his beliefs in nation and honor vs. a man who lives by honor and duty. Of course, it's understandable that in 16 eps it's hard to establish everything as in depth as would be ideal, especially when the storyline is as dynamic as DOTS has been. lol.
Also, with four eps to go, I kind of expected them to keep the Argus storyline going on a little longer, considering he had been the overhanging big bad presence from early on. So it's interesting that the writers chose to wrap his story up fairly quickly and quite neatly (I mean, he's dead..). So unless there's some major twist, it's hard to say what the final story arc will be. But, on the other hand, it's also rather smart as we've been in Urk for a while, it was predictable that Argus would die, etc. And I'm sure many people expected YSJ vs. Argus to be the final showdown. But if they had done that near ep 16.. the story would have started to drag. So I am glad we're going back to Korea. It feels like a breath of fresh air, no? And how kind of great is it that nobody has any idea what the final quarter of the story will really be? Considering that their posters were stills from the drama, they had all these trailers made, etc... other than an image of YSJ in a suit... there was no real hint about the storyline back in Korea. And I think most viewers assumed they would keep the story in Urk for the majority of the remaining episodes. So hopefully that curiosity is enough to keep and bring in more viewers next wk.
I also appreciate that we're back in Korea with still 4 eps to go (quite a lot of time in kdramaland) because KES is doing what I had hoped she would but assumed she would not.. which is hopefully to show us the relationship dynamics beyond Urk. Can they still make things work beyond the environment of life and death. Because the circumstances which ultimately brought the OTP together are.. not typical. And while there will still be action (according to the preview), I think it will be interesting to see how YSJ and KMY cope with normalcy and trying to find a rhythm back home.
And I also noticed a lot of previous discussion regarding the scene where KMY covers YSJ's eyes. I agree, it was a great scene and very touching. And it shows how KMY wanted to be there for YSJ, and how she might serve to heal him and help him forget this pain and erase that particular memory. Buuut (and this might not be a popular opinion, just me...) I wish they had shown her do it for real, and not just in her imagination...
Sure, maybe he just needed time alone and KMY was respecting his space. And maybe she would have comforted him otherwise. But with the sequencing of the scenes, it seemed to me that at that moment, while KMY was sad for YSJ, I don't think she was clear how she was feeling after everything that happened and so she hesitated. And later the next day, as she was rehashing the events and her relationship in her head, she regretted not being there for him. And she realized she wants to be there for him and with him. And ultimately, that feeling was stronger than the other doubts she had about him. And this works too.
The reason I wish they hadn't left it to just symbolism and wishful thinking is that I think having YSJ show such vulnerability in front of KMY would have really had much more weight and meaning for me. Alternatively, KMY would have been there for YSJ, someone who is always doing the rescuing and being the big hero captain. I also think it would have more strongly emphasized just how much she accepts him. But more than that, I just feel like YSJ deserved to actually experience that moment. He's probably shouldered a lot. And his jokes are, as KMY says, sometimes like a facade. He's constantly having to hide things. It would have been great character growth and a great moment for their relationship as he would be leaning on KMY for a change. And it would have been great for him to know that for as strong as he is, there are moments it when it is ok to be weaker and to have someone he can share his sadness with. But maybe KES has a better moment in store later on in the drama.
Overall a busy episode again. And SUPER happy the ratings increased again!

You know what would SUCK? The whole "unexpected situation" being them at the same place they were at the beginning of the drama where KMY thinks he is too dangerous to be around. Yeah, they love each other but after this, will KMY still be able to take another step towards him? or will she run into his arms and continue to accept him wholeheartedly? She is mostly likely very shaken by the situation and I dont know how her reaction will be when she sees him, she may be happy at first that she is being rescued but when they are safe and discuss what their relationship is, will she continue to date him? UGH. This makes me so sad.
@MairaA That would suck. But I don't think it's going to happen. I feel its much more likely that it will be the other way around.. That YSJ will blame himself and push her away. He's obviously shown some regret that in turn for saving Argus in the past, his senior was killed.
It would be much more refreshing, however, if this doesn't stay an issue or really become too blown up. As I think Argus will eventually be killed either by YSJ or the US army as he's being used by the army, and once his part is up, I don't think they care about his life. Hence why Argus wants to get out ASAP.
I feel like it can go many ways right now, so just going to wait and see what tomorrow brings.
Loved how well KMY emoted through her eyes and the stares between her and YSJ this ep!
Hoping for high ratings!

@lilhanh so sad. I had written a response to your post about YSJ and bad timing and then .. my computer spazzed and it's all gone..
Anyways, from what I can recall: .. lol
I totally agree with you. And I literally cracked up reading your post because I had the EXACT same thoughts! And I know I've mentioned how important timing is and how things really just never seemed to line up with KMY and YSJ. But recently I actually watched the past eps and once you get past YSJ's charm, witty words, close proximity, and intense gaze (that's a lot to get past!) I feel like I can understand MY's hesitation even more. The timing of his confessions are just.. so.. bad. Right before he leaves. Right after she's been crying over Manager Go. I get the whole "seize the day!" but hahaha poor SJ.
Yes, lucky for the speaker confession. But I also thought, lucky the MY has better timing for her confession. And lucky again that SJ is much more forward in his skinship and initiates the kiss!
Another thought that crossed my mind... While SJ's confessions, though heartfelt, were always a bit pressuring and really about him and what he was feeling in the moment for MY in the hopes she would reciprocate but I think actually knowing she wasn't ready. But it's also good he was so persistent since that's partly how he won MY over. Just that to me, MY's confession about her staying for him, seemed just a lot more significant. Because it was like her saying that she is willing to accept him and his profession despite her concerns.
And I know people felt that it was pretty mean of MY to throw the possibility of her leaving back at SJ's face earlier on, but maybe I was the only that had felt kind of like.. HAAH! Now you know how it feels to be left hanging. Because really, SJ leaving Uruk without even saying bye after his confession was kind of not cool. Yeah he got rejected, but it still was pretty cold. That may be just my opinion. And the important thing is that she chose to stay, and didn't beat around the bush about why--Him! You could tell he was surprised and touched when she just told him she was staying because she wanted to be with him longer.
And on another note, I'm so happy to read that not only SJK and SHK are getting a major popularity boost (understatement for SJK lol), but JG, KJW, and other supporting roles are getting positive attention. But really happy for JG. He's been solid for a long time in smaller roles or less successful projects. So I feel like he really deserves some limelight. I'm sure his long term fans must be so happy.
Six more eps guys! I hope the momentum carries through to the end!!

@enzek And you know that this gold card is going to come back into the story in what I would expect to be at least a fairly significant way since KMY made such a big deal about it and it again would make the whole scene to save the VIP not just plot/action filler, but give it more purpose to the storyline in retrospect.
Because it's KES we're talking about here. And that's what she loves to do. lol

@gilaswan I think it's because in Korean the words for breaking up and beating up sounds pretty similar. So when Nurse Jae Ha says she'd like to have them break up, Dr. Song being the laugh that he is makes a witty comeback saying he'd like to beat them up instead.
The bag had me confused too, but I guess once you've kissed like that there're no "yours" or "mine". Lol, anything that belongs to Captain Yoo is rightfully KMY's property. I presumed that they acting funny because they wanted to appear normal since they didn't want anyone to know what they had been upto ( they didn't however know that they had hay stuck in their hair...lol).
Was catching up and wanted to help clarify this.
@gilaswan @joongkyo Actually if I'm recalling the scene correctly, Nurse Jae Ha says looking towards KMY's direction "She's going to be so embarrassed later. I want take it off her." 'It' being in reference to the hay in KMY's hair. Then yes, Dr. Song does do a play on the term "take it off" by looking at YSJ's direction and saying "He must have been really happy. I want to hit him" in a joking/jealous manner implying he wishes to do the same *nudgenudgelol*, making Nurse Jae Ha mock reprimand him per usual as she says to him "I want to hit YOU' lol. The terms "take it off" and "to hit" sound similar and therein lies the joke, which may not be so funny anymore when it's explained completely like this haha.
I guess the confusion might come from the fact that the term used to say "take it off" can also be interpreted as "pull off" or "pull apart" as well. Which is where somebody might have misinterpreted that Nurse JaeHa says she wants to break them apart. But I'm pretty certain she was referring to taking the hay out of KMY's hair to try and help her save face.
As for the bag, I thought it was just assumed that he carried it for her from the truck. I'm not sure if they particularly enjoy it, but it is considered good manners in Korea for guys to carry their girlfriend's bag so I don't think there's too much to read into that. And they probably were acting awkward because they were back in a common space and trying to act like nothing had happened, but of course that's what made the hay in the hair that much funnier cuz it's like the chip in their armor. And I think it's also that.. back to reality and need to be professional... but still highly aware about what "happened" in the back of that truck so it feels kind of awkward sentiment. I mean, they had their first (apparently intense) makeout session. So I'm sure they probably felt a little off kilter. lol
Hope this helps!

I read some people who ship Goowon couple because they got bored of Song Song couple and are irritated with KMY's constant rejection of YSJ. I rolled my eyes. Not that I don't heart Goowon couple and their intense love story but I felt theirs is more Kdrama typical. Eg. one partner has better standing in life/family don't approve etc.
Song song couple is really very refreshing. I don't think I have ever watch a Kdrama that has the couple acknowledging their feelings upfront (like in episode 1) and don't beat around the bush and the only thing standing between them is a very realistic problem. Career and probably I dunno, long distance relationship? Which is a really really realistic issue. I also really like how the writer wrote Song Song couple as very strong individuals in their own career and that they are also established (she's a famous doctor and he is a team leader).
#songsongcouplehardshipper
I agree. I think, especially when we're viewing the drama week by week, it's easy to forget things. But if you actually go back to the first two eps, KMY is actually really OPEN to YSJ. But not only does YSJ keep having to leave her, but also her own career at the time is just super busy and going through many changes that it made sense she would reject him the first time. And while YSJ is really attractive and charming, they basically were on like a total of 0.5 total dates at that point.. so I don't fault her at all. Then of course, when she realizes just how dangerous his job is and how unpredictable, she would have other legitimate reservations. Then he ended up leaving Uruk .. and consequently her AGAIN. And in the end, it was because she STAYED in Uruk longer that they were finally able to start their relationship. Timing always seems to be a major factor in relationships. And basically, the timing of his confessions were just not right in retrospect. They both need to be together for at least some time in the same space for anything to start. Plus, what couple doesn't have a little tug and pull, especially in the early stages.
GooWon couple, on the other hand, is at a completely different point in their relationship. They had already confirmed their feelings earlier on. Their feelings are already established. So I don't think it's really fair to compare.
Plus, to be honest, I think one of the aspects YSJ finds so attractive in KMY is her intelligence and her backbone. If she was the type to just immediately melt and swoon at every word, I really don't think he would be attracted to her or find her charming at all anymore. And neither would we as viewers. Basically, to him, she's worth the work. And the fact that she can go toe-to-toe with him and isn't afraid to challenge is what makes her a great partner to him and actually a great kdrama heroine. So while I understand the frustration of viewers toward SongSong couple because they maybe wanted to see them as a couple already, I think it was actually a good pace in character development. Plus, yes, the fact that the two were just so upfront and blunt about their feelings, even if it wasn't working out right away, was what made it a lot less frustrating. We all knew they liked each other. They knew it. It really was about timing and immediate circumstance.. and just being ready to fully take that next step.
I've always been critical of KES mostly for how she writes female protagonists in comparison her male leads. So I've been happily surprised to see that she seems to be doing KMY and YMJ justice so far in the drama.

Sooo..
I haven't seen any previous mentions of this article yet..
I actually was skimming Naver articles and happened to come across this one article. It's really just speculation, but seems really plausible. So plausible that I was felt like it could be a spoiler...
SO FAIR WARNING. It might be completely wrong. But then again... who knows. If you're really curious, I've linked the article and summarized the basic gist of the article as I understood it with the general feel of the comments as well as my own thoughts. I'm gonna hide it as a spoiler just in case.
Spoilerhttp://entertain.naver.com/read?oid=109&aid=0003286221
Essentially I clicked on the article because I saw it was mentioning the scene from like Ep 2 (I think) where KMY was admiring his x-ray because it was technically the only "photo" she had of YSJ. I just was curious as to why it was being mentioned again now.
My korean is pretty ok but still a bit limited. So I'll just summarize what I understood the article to be saying since it's easier than to translate the whole thing. (If I missed anything major or read something wrong, feel free to correct me.)
Basically, it was noticed that in his x-ray, his heart appears to be located on his right instead of the usual left side of his body. (Not sure if anybody even noticed this way back in the thread.. too many pages to backtrack! if you did, you have keen eyes!) And this kind of anatomical anomaly, while rare, does happen. So the article was saying that maybe it was just an unnoticed detail and the scene holds no further meaning other than to serve as a dish of cute. OR it's a foreshadowing of what's possibly to come.
My thoughts? OH MAN. I had just posted not too long ago about how KES likes to refer to moments earlier on in the drama.. moments which necessarily seem to mean nothing much at first but when you go back, makes you do a double take. So this kind of stuff and detail in this drama seems actually plausible... something that KES would really love to do. And actually would be a GREAT twist. But, why leave such a big hint? If it's true, then maybe she thought or hoped viewers would not notice? I know I didn't catch it. Not sure if it would be like the end-all story plot, but this kind of thing, I can totally see it playing into such a climatic moment near the end of the drama (which is why I decided to place it under spoilers).
The comments were along the lines of my reaction. People are speculating that YSJ will get shot in his "heart" and people will mostly assume he is a lost case. KMY will operate on him and find.. voila! He wasn't actually shot in his heart. And the top comment actually is pretty great because it predicts YSJ will say his typical line "That difficult thing to do, I did it, me." HAHA per his top priority in keeping alive.
Of course other people were wondering how KMY would just overlook that large detail as a doctor. But others were willing to overlook it for the sake of the drama and maybe she was so lovestruck at the moment to really notice.
And others felt kind of annoyed they had read this article because it seemed like a spoiler. :/
AGAIN, this is just SPECULATION. Like previously mentioned, it might not be anything and the reporter just had a keen eye and was reading too much into things. And if even that is the case, and the x-ray was just a mistake or accident on the part of the onset staff, I still thought it was a great observation nonetheless. Because really, that would be a great and particularly clever plot twist on part of the writer. Although, if it does become true, a part of me would then wish the x-ray hadn't been exposed haha. Because with or without the x-ray, the anatomical anomaly would still be rather unexpected. But I could still appreciate the writing and the fun fact that the writer had left bread crumbs throughout the drama in this way.
But this gives hope to me in a big way that if the story does go this way, the writer would be essentially setting up for YSJ to die, but he won't and our OTPs will be safe. (And I say OTPs as in plural because I really believe if there's a couple to worry about dying .. it's SongSong. GooWon is going through so much right now, that it just doesn't seem logical to have them become even more tragic. And SongSong is like in constant danger but somehow making it out ok these past few eps.. it's like.. something wrong just seems bound to happen at one point right?)
Anyways, sorry if anybody feels I may have shared a spoiler. The key is, it might not even be a spoiler! (but what a great spoiler if it is right? haha sorry). But I did give fair warning just in case...? >.< I just felt like I should share this article even though it might be nothing in the end. Nothing might come from it at all. But I thought it was interesting enough mention.
And not sure how many people will actually read this so not sure if there will be even future discussion about this article. I just felt like it should still be handled under possible spoiler. But that's just my judgement and opinion at the moment. It's really up to you.

Hopefully my brain is just overreacting! But let us appreciate the way that KMY looks at YSJ here
Ah. I have to agree with this too
Actually, one of the things I've been enjoying about this drama is how moments from earlier on in the drama reappear later. Especially the smaller things.
YSJ telling KMY to save Agus. The wording was almost the same with the VIP patient.
The picture of YSJ and SDY on the double date..SDY had promised YSJ to introduce him to flight attendants through his cousin in the first episode. I guess he kept his word LOL.
How YSJ says "It's not like there aren't other ways" when dealing with the gang threatening Patima. Which is also the same line before the wine kiss.
The whole thing with KMY not washing her hair was a nod back to their first date and carried throughout today's episode. (Plus YSJ has a thing about petting her hair.. hahah)
KES also loves to throw each of the characters words back at each other. Like how KMY always denied that "it's not me!" when YSJ would confront her about her confesion. He says the same when KMY is upset about the double date picture, right before she kind of throws her hands up in the air and exclaims her frustration. (Which was a cute moment haha) And then the whole conversation before the ramen was just a throwback to their earlier "break up" convo.
The flashback to the car on the cliff and KMY's recording.
YSJ and KMY's first and the second mine "dates".
There are more of course, but these are just off the top of my head.
I really appreciate these small throwbacks though because it shows attention to detail. And it makes these scenes have more meaning in a way. Like they serve a better purpose and not just as a line here or there, or even as time fillers. Like a lot of people (myself included) felt the car hanging off the cliff scene seemed kind of random and just for the sake of action, but actually, the confession made it all that much more purposeful. These clever writing moments is what makes the script, while admittedly not the most amazing piece of writing, still shine. And these moments are all the more probable because the writer was most likely able to finish the entire script ahead of time and blend more of these moments in more skillfully.
But this is also why I worry about those words KMY said about basically returning the favor and doing things for YSJ. It can go either way. Sweet or sad. And one might even interpret the fact that KMY already saved YSJ in the rundown building as basically doing exactly that since YSJ usually always saves KMY. So who knows really.
It's all in the hands of the writer. And I guess I can still appreciate the fact that I can't really predict what might happen with the OTP since KES has been good about keeping viewers on their toes, as proof by the ratings. And so far, I've been enjoying the ride.
Let's hope our faith isn't misplaced!

Guys. GUYS.
I felt so immature. I couldn't help but giggle throughout the episode. OH DOTS. OH K-DRAMAS. Why is skinship so elusive that anytime a good kiss happens, it's like "STAHP IT." oh but wait, please don't stop. please continue. hahaha. I seriously don't read into kisses this much with my American shows.
Anyways, I felt like this episode was just full of fluff and kind of like a nice a break/gift the writer decided to give us viewers. We have officially passed the halfway point and the main conflict has been introduced. So I feel like the writer wanted to get some sweetness in before things get back into the drama of things.
And I think it's kind of cute how people are literally counting down the known kisses left. Or really just kiss.. right? Since now I think there's only the balcony kiss remaining? I was really not expecting the gas station kiss this episode. And then when I saw KMY wearing the sweater from the poster image, I was all excited haha.
I'm happy for the goowon couple, but also worried. I'm pretty sure they'll have a happy ending though since the drama started with them being in the middle of their love conflict. I'm actually more worried about the fate of the main OTP. But sending positive thoughts to the universe.
And I actually loved the truck kiss. The lighting was amazing. And the look KMY was giving YSJ was just wonderful. She's just really into him and the moment. And I think it's great she was able to finally, REALLY confess in her own space at her own time, just the two of them (ignoring the driver.. lol) without feeling totally forced into it right after the recording. It just felt so much more sincere, and you could tell she was ready to open up at that moment. And yes, SHK proved again she CAN kiss! (Although I think she pretty much had proved that in The Worlds Within... multiple times over haha). And I especially love it when they shoot a double kiss that shows the female lead inciting and reciprocating. And when does KMY kisses him back, you see YSJ kind of stiffen almost in surprise and then just melt into the kiss. This kiss scene was just so tenderly done, it was great. There's passion but not overly forced. They just end up leaning into each other and the moment of it all, so its great.
I did laugh a bit as they zoomed out because I could tell the truck and the road were pretty bumpy. And while the scene was so romantic, I'm pretty sure it was also super awkward to kiss like that. But both SJK and SHK are obviously troopers and totally pulled through.
Also, I'm not sure.. I might be the only one.. But when YSJ was using his sniper scope to spy on KMY and then proceeded to trace a heart with the laser pointer, my gullible kdrama fan side was like: aw that's kind of a clever twist. But then a larger part of me was all: that's kind of a freaky thing to do YSJ... super stalkery. And if it was me, I would be freaked out to see a laser target on my head. I wanted to tell the writer she was walking a fine line in that scene of almost overdoing things. hahaha. But I'll let it go in lieu of how cute our OTP was.
My other favorite moment (beside the kisses) was when KMY gets called in to see the head general dude, and he tells the 4 of them to take a seat, and KMY is all happy and says 'OK!' while the other 3 politely refuse. HAHAHA. Such a great comedic moment highlighting just how different their worlds are in a lighthearted manner. Its moments like these that I'm glad the writer wrote in comic relief because I get to see SHK show more range. She's super good in melodramas and crying, so she's been taking serious roles a lot in the recent past.. I think pretty much since Full House. So it's great to see her exercise some comedic chops. She gets to show a range of facial expressions (which I think was kind of wished to see in TWTWBs I guess for obvious reasons).
Overall, a fun episode. And SO happy for breaking 30%. I hope DOTS continues to increase in ratings! 40% seems so hard especially now that streaming is so much more accessible even than back like 3-4 yrs ago in 2012 with The Moon Embracing the Sun. But I'll still hope for it!
And can I just say, the forum for DOTS is really a positive and encouraging one overall. It really makes live viewing and waiting for each weekly release bearable haha. And it probably enhances the viewing experience for a lot of us since there are other people we can just go crazy with over the show.

Something must be up which we obviously have no clue about and we'll never get to know, but I believe that the atmosphere during the drama was in fact very friendly between all co-stars. I've read many accounts of the supporting cast members who have said lovely things about the work experience.
I agree. I think they all worked really well together. And the drama is evident of the good teamwork.
Whether something is up. OR NOTHING AT ALL. And it's just me. I have no problem acknowledging that ahaha
But I do think that it's important for co-stars to recognize each other, even if the public doesn't recognize them equally. It just seems like a good thing to do. And like you said, a healthy process.
Oh wells.

Given that Song Joong Ki is skilled in the PR department, I usually take what he says with a grain of salt. Not that he’s a liar but we have to understand the nature of his career and this is likewise with all actors.
Ah, that's actually good to hear for me. Since I was actually hoping it was cuz he was just being too cautious, too professional, and careful with his words in public.
I never doubted the quality of their personal and working relationship since I know they most likely do get along. I did see the secret photo a fan took of SJK, LKS, and JIS taking a pic with SHK's poster add and laughed cuz it was too cute. Plus, SHK would not post pictures of him and JG on her IG if they did not get along.
But it's just a bit frustrating when his other peers are encouraging each other and he's pretty mum on the topic. I do understand he wants to prevent a scandal most likely in consideration for SHK (I mean she was getting so much heat on that article about on-screen couples that became real life couples and the comments were basically.. leave SJK alone! -.- just, really). But I also think it's to manage his image since he is really booming right now. So whether it's his consideration or his management, I don't think it's a weird coincidence he's not saying very much is all. And i wish he would. And it's not cuz I ship them in real life. (If they date or don't date, I'd be happy either way). But because I feel like SHK deserves some acknowledgement and credit too. Even if it's not that big. It's still a kind thing to do. And I believe there are ways of expressing it while maintaining professionalism. But I also get that other people may read way too much into it and so he might be more likely to err on the side of caution. Kind of like, better safe than sorry type thing :/

The end of ep 8 was such a great moment. And so clever of the writer to give the viewers a confession from MY (we've been waiting forever for it) in such a wonderful and unexpected way, especially after almost 2 pretty serious episodes.
Just some thoughts on the recent onslaught of articles from the press conference interviews:
I'm trying really hard not to ship SHK and SJK in real life. It's always hard not to ship the real actors when their onscreen chemistry is so good. But I had hoped that SJK would be a bit more revealing on how it was to work with SHK. I know previous comments mentioned a similar frustration as it maybe seemed like maybe SJK simply wasn't asked these questions? But it seems strange since SHK obviously was and talked about how it was to work with SJK and complimented SJK quite a bit. And her comments were not incredibly revealing. They were fairly professional and obvious comments. But at least she mentioned she was grateful to him, etc. But other than from the limited comments he made about how he had been looking forward to working with SHK at the press conference/prior interview, it hasn't been really mentioned how he was likewise grateful to SHK or something similar along those lines. Unless, maybe I missed something.
I love SJK and I'm not hating at all. It's just a little disappointing. And not just cuz I'm hungry for any piece of SHK or SJK interaction. But because I feel like SHK has been getting overlooked a lot for her contribution to the drama. As is the case for a lot of female leads vs. male leads. And in truth, if the female lead actress was lacking, I wouldn't have too much of a problem. But I feel that SHK is actually really pulling her weight and deserves recognition as well.
Even in the interview talking about the wine kiss, SJK mentioned that he and the director put in a lot of effort into that scene. But SHK is actually part of that scene. Even if his character was the one to act on the kiss, typically you see in BTS cuts of kiss scenes, all three parties confer about how to play it out. But SHK isn't even mentioned.
A part of me wonders if Blossom Ent. is being really careful with his image management right now and limiting the type of questions he is being asked since so many female fans are thirsting after him right now. And knowing how considerate and careful he is about other people, I also wonder if he's being overly cautious with his words in not trying to imply anything with SHK in real life in respect to SHK and her past scandals since he doesn't want to bring her unnecessary hate by his fans. (But it seemed like his comments in working with SHK are SOO scarce, it also made me wonder, is he not mentioning anything with SHK not because he is concerned about her per say, but he's concerned about another partner he is secretly dating?? Which might be farfetched, but I know JIS was really strongly adamant about denying personal feelings for SHK in real like when acting together despite good onscreen chemistry, and it ended up being because he was in the early stages of a then secret relationship with KMH).
Honestly, I don't care why SJK is being so stingy with talking about how it was to work with SHK, but I would just like her to get some well-deserved credit. The SJK craze is like a wall right now, and he COMPLETELY deserves all that praise. And while I don't really expect the same public recognition that SJK is getting, it would be nice if at least her lead co-actor recognized the work and effort she put in publicly. I know for sure he does. I just want him to say it damn it >.< (if only so I can read it.) Am I being too selfish in that respect? lol
I do like that Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won at least are more willing to talk. So at least there's that.

A couple thoughts:
In terms of SJK and SHK not getting along well, unless there's actual proof, I don't think people have to worry. Especially since SHK posted a pic of SJK and JG and a pic of the her and SJK together on her own personal instagram. I don't think she would post these pics if she didn't have positive feelings towards him. And considering she's a pretty private person, I think it says a lot.
In terms of SHK's kissing skills, I've been a long time fan of her, and while she may not be known as the best kisser in kdrama-land, I think her lack of reciprocity in the wine kiss scene was strongly character driven. Also, people seem to be referring to her past "track-record" of on-screen kisses. But you kind of have to understand that SHK started acting REALLY YOUNG, even though she often acted in more mature roles. Pluse she's been acting in major dramas since the 90s from Autumn in My Heart and so forth. Back then, closed lip kisses were basically as far as you could go to be considered "decent" or "acceptable". Yes, kdramas were WAAAY more prudish than even now. Holding hands was like major skinship. Even through Full House and All-In, one or two kisses, with typically a "big" kiss at the end was probably the most you could expect between the main leads. And then you look at That Winter The Wind Blows with JIS, and you kind of know you won't get much physical contact since .. well.. she thinks he's her brother for like 90% of the drama -.-... in which case, the only other "modern" drama you can actually refer to would be The Worlds Within with HB. And I would be more inclined to say that even then, those kisses were more character driven (since the two didn't really develop strong feelings past friendship until a while after filming was completed). Of course, you can mention that SHK and HB may have had really good underlying chemistry.. in which case, I don't think you can deny the chemistry between SHK and SJK as acting partners as well. So all in all, I think we will have at least one satisfying kiss (balcony kiss, I'm looking at you! haha)
On a completely DIFFERENT note: KMY's wardrobe...any thoughts?
I haven't seen very much comments on this topic and wasn't sure if it was worth bringing up.. but it is a bit distracting to me sometimes. And it might just be me. I understand they want to make the female lead look not too disheveled and still appealing, but bringing heels and wearing sandals as a medical professional WHILE working is just not accurate at all. Especially in a supposed war-torn country. One of the main things health professionals need to consider is safety, and closed toe shoes is just a basic given. And then I just couldn't help roll my eyes when I saw she was not only wearing her skirt still, but her heels to the trauma site. I get the symbolism of her breaking the heel and then receiving the boots. And I understand her beaten down feet show her dedication, but it also makes her seem a little naive. Like, she's supposed to be a great doctor who's knowledgeable about trauma, but she can't even take a minute to prepare herself and change to appropriate wear? At least the other members were in sneakers. But what irked me even more was that NONE of the medical team had ANY safety gear... no helmets and no masks.. not even on anyone in the background. I kind of cringed that there were no gloves anywhere too, not even at the makeshift tents.
Granted I still was super happy to see a stronger KMY portrayed and loved the scene when the OTPs were reunited. But it's a shame when you notice things like this that kind of take away from the story. I understand things won't be accurate to real life.. they rarely are in tv or movies...Like how MJ's hair should technically be always tied up in a bun per army dress code, but it's not since her hair down is more feminine. Small things like sneakers and safety gear which can be easily included without taking away from the story to extend a sense of realism are instead forgotten. And that lack of attention to detail in turn counter's the character's supposed high ability, which is a bit disappointing writing-wise. It just shows maybe a lack of research, laziness, or just disregard because who cares, as long as we get product placement and the lead is still pretty running around in a skirt. Unless they really thought it might not matter. And in the end of the story, it doesn't. Except to me, it seems like it's a minor injustice to KMY's character who is supposed to be a strong female lead.
But I guess if I'm really being really honest with myself, this drama is not even about accuracy right? Just romantic fantasy.
Sorry again for the long post!

[+4724, -194] DOTS seems to have been made really well hehe
[+3455, -120] Trying to compare (?) who is the prettiest in the last picture..
[+2911, -118] Awesome ratings~ YSJ is truly cool!
[+2601, -118] Song Hy Kyo <3 Song Joong Ki looks, acting, chemistry are all the best!!!
[+1936, -67] I like that it's not the typical love triangle. Both couples each have their own way of loving, and their ways of showing their affection is fun not forceful.Yay for high ratings! Ep 6 was so satisfying in terms of KMY. I'm glad the story focused on her a little more since it has been pretty strong in YSJ mode (not that I'm complaining too much). But I like when both the female and male leads feel balanced in what they bring to the table in terms of story.
Glad they didn't drag out the separation too long. And that the ep didn't end right when they see each other after he drops from the helicopter. Cuz that would have just taken away from the meaning of the shoe-lace tying scene.
In addition to the high production costs and the big action scenes, I think one of the best things about pre-production was that it gave time for better EDITING of this show so far. Since the story is complete by the time they filmed and were in editing, the production team had more time to think about what scenes to play and what beats to get in. They know what is coming ahead, so they know what is important to show first and lead the audience into seeing and feeling at a better pace. There is much less feeling of.. oh if we had known this was gonna happen, we would have done this differently. Basically, the storyline and pace is able to feel more consistent and not rushed, which all contributes to the feel of "better quality". Just my thoughts

For me it is not about the sweetness that 'hooked' me but her reaction which is matched with her character. We all want to see her made up her mind, not lustfully fall into the arms of YSJ so fast, but to love him deeply. This kiss is part of the process, she tries to coolly avoid it, or even talked about it because she need to think on her own. In life I believe it's the best option, somehow we (girls) met a perfect guy amid of chaos, but taking the first step knowing all the risk isn't the easy process. I love how both of them manage to keep their relationship after the kiss, I think that's the sweet part.
THIS. I totally agree. I think this aspect of their story is what is actually really refreshing. In past k-dramas, any small kiss would be this biiig deal (not just to viewers) but to the characters themselves, and it might take a whole episode or more to pass before the main characters finally just face each other and try to move past it. Especially if the relationship is not fully there yet. But it was so nice of both MY and SJ to still be able to be together without BEING together (if that makes senses). Not too much hum-hawing over the kiss itself. It's actually really mature the way both sides handle the kiss.
To us viewers, the kiss is like this super momentous occasion (for obvious reasons). But for SJ and MY, it's just the next natural step in their relationship
But I admit, my expectations for the balcony kiss is way high. Especially since MY seems to be much more .. compliant in it. I hope she instigates it! (And I hope it's not near the end of the drama.. because I feel like I may be getting spoiled in terms of OTP, with a kiss only 4 eps in, then mouth-to-mouth. And we know that there's another kiss from the poster. And the image of the balcony kiss. Now I just expect more.)

@smiletall wow, i love your angle.
I think we have seen too much of YSJ's side that we forgot KMY hasn't. We sympathetic YSJ so much, we mistaken him keeping her in the dark and nature of his job as an old issues, those are issue that came a long time ago but never gets old. KMY has to live with YSJ comes and goes without telling her anything and a probability of him never coming back alive, if she were in relationship with YSJ.
@ladyme thanks!
I (jokingly) blame the bias towards SJ partly on the writer KES since she always writes really romantic and charming male protagonists. She really knows what will make female viewers swoon. And then I partly Song Joong Ki for just being so LIT in this series. HAHA
But it's true what others are saying: it's really only been 5 eps. Which isn't that long episode wise. And despite the time jump, their relationship is still barely developed. There's a lot of opportunity for growth. SJ might be the more obvious interesting character too since it's really his storyline (backstory and occupation) that seems to be driving the overall plot for now. So I also hope MY will also grow more as a character. And the writer has her set up for that growth, so I see potential.
Overall, there are definite flaws and the cheese in this drama is no joke. BUT the fact that there is no love triangle is actually more than satisfying for me at the moment. It's just two couples figuring things out. And they have more than enough obstacles on their own. Plus the chemistry of both couples are GOLD.
I also am hoping for some female bonding too!! It's only fair right? And I actually hope MJ will be one of the people MY can eventually turn to when trying to learn to cope with a military relationship since she has more awareness of what it takes. Though, I hope the conversation doesn't present itself in the form of a catty encounter.
Hoping for high ratings!

Ah, DOTS. It's brought me back to soompi forums again after a long time away the discussion is moving so fast!
I also seem to see a lot of frustration towards MY because she doesn't appear to be able to fully commit to SJ. But actually, I think it makes a lot of sense. In the beginning, MY was more easily willing to date SJ because she assumed he was a typical soldier. And SJ, I think, was also fully aware of the strain his occupation would place on a potential relationship, since he was never really open about what he did. We as viewers are very sympathetic to SJ's side because we are omnipresent. We see each backstory and character. But for MY, all she was initially seeing was an attractive, but mysterious guy, who was constantly giving her the slip even early on in the relationship. For me, that would be definite flags. Plus, he's a smooth talker, which, while hot and flattering, can also make one really confused since it makes you question what is real and what is not.
Then they separate ultimately do to personal differences and reunite in Urk. And it is here that MY finally begins to realize how dangerous SJ's life is. Regardless of how openly attracted they are to each other, I think it would actually be more frustrating for me to have a heroine who is so easily swayed due to just hotness. It shows that MY is not naive and is actually really strong. She's looking out for her herself, which is a good thing. Sure we all want SJ to be happy too, but he's also aware that a relationship with him wouldn't be easy. It might be great when they're together, but ultimately, he answers to a larger duty which places his own life in danger. They would be apart for large spaces of time. She would be constantly worried for his life. He probably would constantly be lying to her due to confidentiality and she would have no idea where or why he would be gone sometimes. It's A LOT.
So his sometimes seemingly one-sided persistence makes sense and is key since that's really the only way MY will probably give in. And the upcoming separation and disaster will cleverly act as a catalyst for the relationship.
Ultimately, we know they will get together. And I think once MY makes up her mind to commit, she will be right there with him.
But at the end of the day, the BIG question I think will be: Will they make it?
Given the nature of SJ's job and MY's clear wish for just a stable life and career back home, I think the latter half of the drama might be facing the conflicts they have to resolve back in reality. Unless the drama just focuses on their time in Urk. In which case, they might never have to address if they actually would make it beyond. Haha. And I've been just wondering about useless aspects of their upcoming relationship.
Sorry this is so long!

I'll rewatch again later hahaha
Thanks for explaining!

I wonder why there were feathers (? at least I think they were feathers) everywhere when YSJ got shot.. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
