Thanks! Yes, it's my first time here. I recently got into EXO and am still trying to learn all their names.
-
I just got into EXO recently, and was wondering, does anyone know where Lay's stage name comes from? It seems really random. Same with Chen. Did SM just randomly choose a Chinese name to use? Lol.

Wow, JCW on Running Man is awesome news. I literally have watched around 100 RM episodes wondering when (or if) JCW was going to be on it. Finally!!

Sometimes I wish SHK would do a kneelength dress more. Obviously she rocks the fluffy shorter skirt look, but I think she would also rock a kneelength dress . I rarely see her in those though.
-
I have never "shipped" anyone, but can't deny that SHK and KDW look so gorgeous together.

Feel the same, even after 3 years Ha Ji Won always thinks about Secret Garden even if Empress Ki is starting to air in Japan she promotes more Secret Garden lol Love this woman =))
Now i need to rewatch Secret Garden for the nth time.
Wel, I think she talked about SeGa bc it was one of the most popular international dramas, so it makes sense for her to talk about it at a Japanese fan event.

Gosh, HJW is such a workaholic. Script reading for her movie has started and she barely got any time to recover from the 8 months of grueling, action-filled, sleepless nights of Empress Ki. I feel so lazy in comparison

and the Korean actress manages to hold her own, speaking all her lines in Mandarin.
This is so impressive. Wow.

Gosh...that is the most gorgeous casual look at the airport. *jaw drops*

chrissydiva said: That's what i don't get. American TV shows also depend on ratings/ads money. Yet, they are pre-produced. They can have crazy schedule like they have to shoot scenes at 3 am due to location availability. For example, in the show the Good Wife, they have to shoot court scenes sometimes after midnight because that's the only time allowed for them to do so. Nevertheless, they still don't look like zombies because they still have time to sleep in appropriate places. When you see some of the BTS where they are like falling asleep outside in that cold weather, it pisses me off. I won't even get started in letting their injured actors keep working to the point of damaging their bodies because they have to postpone their surgeries. If they don't, they will be deemed unprofessional and they even have to apologize for the inconvenience. WTF?
I just hope that if the rumor is true, that she's fine. And yes, she hasn't been looking good lately. -
I didn't like coffee prince, still have not finish this show after multiple attempts, but I was endeared to YEH the moment she gaged of GY's kiss.

@the96butterfly
Your year by year review of her filmography is really interesting. It really shows what an awesome actress she is. For example, I can't believe she did 100 Days With Mr. Arrogant and WHIB in the same year. 100 Days was a very light comedy where she played a perky, goofy high school kid, but WHIB was a dark and emotional adult drama where she played a dark, complex, flawed character. I really cannot believe that the same person played both those characters in the same year, because she was equally convincing in both projects. Same with all those other years. It's crazy how many different types of roles HJW has played, often in the same year.
And her characters are SO difficult to play too. They're not just "regular person" characters where you just need to say your lines. You need a lot of training and preparation to play a gisaeng or a Joseon policewoman or a ping pong champion or an stuntwoman or a boxer. HJW is such a hardworking, dedicated, talented actress. -
HJW looks so ridiculously cool (even more than she usually does, if that's even possible) in that Dramabeans article. She pulls of the cool, tough look so well.

Just dropping in to congratulate LMH on his Spring Gala performance. He did great. I just watched the whole Spring Gala with my family. My parents obviously know nothing about him but they thought he was very handsome. My dad was especially impressed, he said LMH looked like a painting LOL.
It's pretty amazing to think that the ambitious, rough-around-the-edges young guy with the crazy hairdo and ridiculous clothes in BOF 4 years ago is now the seasoned, polished professional appearing on literally the biggest stage in the world. Very well deserved success to a hardworking and nice person. -
Don't know if this has already been posted, but the latest Empress Ki ratings:
1/27 Nationwide: 22.8 (2nd) Seoul: 26.8 (1st)
1/28 Nationwide: 24.9 (2nd) Seoul: 28.6 (1st)
I'm so happy for HJW and the entire Empress Ki team!! -
It makes me feel nostagic to see those vids of HJW from her early career. This is kind of off topic, but generally speaking, I feel that the generation of Korean actors and actresses in their 30s have the best visuals and acting skills. The projects they made in their early careers, like Damo, My Name Kim Sam Soon, Autumn In My Heart, What Happened in Bali, Stairway to Heaven, etc. are hugely popular and high quality k-drama classics that helped spread the Hallyu wave around the world. I don't see that same "it" factor in most of the actors and actresses in their 20s these days, nor do their dramas have that same appeal to me.

lily83 said: Hi Chingu I'm new in this thread but I love SHK since long time ago, she is popular in my country. I watch all her drama excepts World Within but I don't really know her personal that much, I'm curious what happen with her father since you said she takes responsibility for her mom
-
I hope she will one day find some lucky guy acceptable for her! I've always admired her for being so strong given that her father's not really in the picture and she doesn't have any siblings. Ever since she was young, she always had to take full responsibility not only for herself but for her mom, and face the world by herself. Though she doesn't need anyone, I hope she will let someone to be there for her and support her
-
I was so excited to find out HJW won the Daesang. So well deserved and hard earned. And she looked beautiful!!
-
Congrats to SHK on winning the SBS award, and I loved that interview, thanks! It was so deep and you could feel her genuineness come through. I loved it
-
@ekrkadl That makes more sense now, thank you.
As far as doing research, most people come on soompi occasionally to read k-entertainment news and don't have time to do research on LMH's (or anyone's) interviews with multiple sources. If people have a question about something posted here, I think it is fine to ask for clarification from others here who know more about it. It's really not that serious.
-
LMH: No, I would prefer someone more cheerful and lovable. Although Eun Sang is cheerful but a bit pitiful, too capable. My ideal type is I can protect her, I'm a male chauvinist.
Did he really say "male chauvinist"? He doesn't like a woman that's "too capable"? Um...does he know that male chauvinist means "a man whose behavior and attitude toward women indicate a belief that they are innately inferior to men"? I think LMH is a great actor but if he really means "male chauvinist," I'm surprised by that

@thanhthuy, Ditto. Did you guys notice in her latest Running Man appearance? I mean, look at the way she ran like crazy after she had found that working water gun? Haha!!
Do you mean the one with the other Heirs cast members? In that case, I don't think it was a water gun but a document, and she ran like crazy after she got that!
By the way, that Running Man appearance was where I developed my girlcrush on her, lol. I loved how seriously she competed in the silly challenges. She was also really funny, cute, and sweet. No wonder why everyone in the industry loves her!
And when the host accidentally called her "Eun Hye," she said "Eun Hye is Jong Kook's (a cast member of Running Man)". It's so cool how, even though she has so many friends, she remembers the smallest details about people. Every time she's interviewed or on a show, she always has an interesting or funny story to tell about one of her costars or friends. It just shows how close she is with them.
-
Not necessarily. I could see the script going in the direction that she continues to deny she's SN even though Emperor Puppy absolutely knows she is SN. That could make for some awesome cat-and-mouse games over the next 10 episodes or so. But don't drag it out TOO long, Writer-nims. Some of those Court Members really need a swift kick in the rear NOW. *grumble*
Well, hopefully they will start showing some politicking and maneuvering by SN at the palace to show the process of how she becomes queen, instead of just "TH eventually recognizes he loves SN and makes her queen." Maybe they can show SN helping overthrow Yeon Chul or something.
This show is supposed to be about (or at least I thought it was about) Empress Ki as a politician. Love stories are okay, but I don't want them to take over the political storyline either!!

OMG PSH looked so amazing at the Baeksang Awards! She has such an aura of elegance and class. Totally the belle of the ball. And loved when the PD gave her a shout out during his acceptance speech for everyone to watch her on 3 meals a day!
(By the way, does anyone know where we can watch PSH's episode with eng sub? I'm sorry if it's been mentioned before, I've been really busy with work and school and haven't been able to backread.)
