  1. So basically everyone is contrite about the sins they committed except ES right to the end. HH knelt before ES and will go to jail for near two decades. SJ knelt before ES and will get punished in jail for four years. YJ and grandpa goes to ask forgiveness and smooth things over.

What about ES? Nothing. She gets to trample over YY for the entire drama and everyone kneels before her. Even those who never harmed her. I didn’t hate her before but I will hate her if this drama ends with her still acting as a victim to those who never did her wrong. Especially YY and KJ.

I also hope that KJ and YY do not live with that witch. It’s utterly stupid for the writer to put them there. ES does not deserve that kind of consideration. I hope YY and MR live with grandpa especially considering SJ is no longer there.

  2. This is an old one but Kim Sunah’s lead character in City Hall always impressed me. She transformed from a “troublesome” city worker into the mayor of her town. By the end of the drama, her character had grown so much.

After: as Mayor of the city

I am glad that YY got out of that house.  All the family members are toxic (especially ES and DS).  Her FIL and GMIL are not a good influence on MR either.  I was happy to see her tell her MIL that MRN was her (YY) child and her MIL.

I never wanted YY and KJ to live with them. The house is already crowded and ES has always treated YY as though YY is indebted to her and is her doormat. Let’s take it further. If YY had another kid with KJ and live in that house with them, who is to say ES will treat that child good. Living with KJ’s grandpa is far better. Mirae is not blood related to him and he already treats her like his granddaughter. I can’t say the same for ES at all with regard to any future child YY may have.

  4. The only way for HH to let go of her constant ambition to hurt and thwart KJ is for her son not to be the biological child of her current husband. I don’t even think that SJ is greedy for the top position of that company either. It’s all his mother’s ambition. SJ looks like a person who wants a breather. He seems to always be under pressure and I think he needs some freedom to reassess his life. Also, if his mother hadn’t hurt KJ, KJ would have been far ahead in life. His blindness hindered him and even now when he had his sight restored, HH is still plotting to hurt / hinder him.

I still don’t want HM anywhere near SJ. I don’t want him to end up with her. Only unless she gets a personality transplant. It would be like he ended up with a woman like his mother otherwise.

I really loved this drama. I know people are into extreme emotions, sometimes extreme violence and thrills to excite those emotions, but I find much fulfillment in these not too melodramatic family dramas. I don’t think people realize how hard it is to bring something so heartwarming and somewhat normal to life- although the characters were quirky  enough to be interesting. Kudos to cast, crew, writer, director. I will miss the family they created.

Although it seems a requirement to throw in the typical puzzle pieces of complicated family relationships, and also sickness, I was very happy they did not dip into the pitfalls of too much melo -they let the characters find a path to dialogue with each other. Organ donor is a difficult subject anywhere not just in South Korea and I was glad that they did not discourage, since the majority of donors survive liver transplants very well. Majority of recipients do get at least five more years of quality life. I have known someone who went through such a transplant,  and did have some wonderful years. Apparently the first successful liver transplant was from a mother to her son.

I know the ending with the two ladies going into labor together was predictable, but it was still a smile and laugh worth- I would’ve actually like to see the children being born. But we got a period in a families life where the ups and downs were resolved, even the sickness and in real life there are many patches of good times, if we would only just recognize it, if we only would not need the extremes to feel ‘alive’.

I do hope the next family drama will be least just as good

I also love this family drama. I was so glad they didn’t make it extreme. I binged this series about two weeks ago and I was so grateful to watch such a warm, family drama. I was especially glad that the mother of the three male leads was normal. She might have objected in some cases for various reasons but she was an affectionate woman that also gave way to her sons. I loved the conversation she had with her FIL’s daughter at the hospital when she came to tell her that she approved of the transplant. The emotion between these two women felt so real: awkward but sincere as she tells the daughter that she wants her to live and she wants them to get to know each other better since their relationship had just begun.

As to the couples, I really liked all three. They were all different and enjoyable. The youngest couple got along so well. They were also considerate of each other after the breakup. They just seemed so attuned to each other like best friends. It’s a good basis to build a lasting relationship. The couple in their 40s were a lot of fun. lol They was kind of wacky but enjoyable to watch. Then there’s the middle couple. They were sweet and I liked their honesty and bluntness. The two sets of parents were not left behind for me. I liked both their relationships although Mirae’s mom tended to be more moody. Grandfather was a character I thoroughly enjoyed. His sister is a hoot but she wasn’t nosy like her daughter-in-law upstairs.

Overall, this has definitely become one of my favorite weekend family drama shows.

    Episode 63 Preview

Eun-ho confesses to Young-geum that he likes Young-i. Young-geum is greatly confused by the unexpected story.
Meanwhile, just as Hae-mi tampered with the kitchen ingredient order form, 100 times the normal quantity of ingredients is delivered to the kitchen, and Young-i falls into a crisis while being held accountable...

This company really needs better managers. Notice that HH pulled that stunt about the products for the deaf. She didn’t care about all the wasted time and material. She would rather waste company resources to sabotage KJ. Now the awful HM is wasting company resources as well. If only Chairman knows how these people are using up company funds for their personal vendettas. I wish that assistant of his kept an eye on the happenings in the company led by his idiot son.

As to YY’s MIL, well, I never liked her from the beginning. I know she’s supposed to be sympathized with because she lost her son but that shouldn’t give her the license to abuse others. I honestly can’t stand her at this point. Her blaming YY is as much as disregarding MR because she always thinks YY was never good enough for her son.

@angelwingssf HH will get a surprise, she would have a hard time controling HM with regards being her daughter in law. She doesn't want someone of HM status as her daughter in law so HM will feel HH nasty behavior first-hand. HH would want some DIL from a Chaebol family that would be of help to SJ.

I certainly didn’t want YY to be stuck with awful in-laws. That means HM in addition to HH. I hope if SJ is indeed sacrificed to HM, they will live in a different house.

I don’t like EJ being sacrificed to DS either. I guess DS needs someone to take care of him for the rest of his life and that person will be EJ. If we think about, HM’s father and KJ’s father have questionable taste in women anyway. I guess EJ and SJ will end up the same.

@Ameera Ali I think she found out from Mirinae at the end of this episode. If looks could kill, it would be ES stare at YY. But they will soon find out who. Hoping Grandpa openly support them infront of everyone :D

The more this lady acts up, the more I can’t stand her selfish, self-centered attitude. She didn’t want YY for her precious son in the first place. I hope YY doesn’t feel any guilt towards her and stands up for her own happiness. That selfish mother thinks everything should be about her own feelings and not about what her children wants.

I’m definitely not okay with SJ hooking up with HM. HM seems to fundamentally be an extremely selfish person who looks down her nose at others. SJ seems completely opposite. I don’t want to see him sacrificed to another woman who is just like his mother. I really hope this daily will not hook him up with HM unless she gets a personality transplant. These families also live in one house it seems so I really don’t want YY to have to live with her either. Most of all, I just don’t want SJ with HM.

@angelwingssf Well, i think it's better that KJ find out sooner than later. So he can decide for himself if he want to pursue YY knowing she has a child. Just my feelings. I hate when that part is dragged out. But i think he may not find out just yet even if i want to. Won't take long i guess since HM is determined so separate KJ and YY.

Same. I want him to find out and it would be even better if he found out before HM tries to reveal it herself. In that way she loses the advantage she thinks she’ll get from exposing that YY has a child. ^_^

I do wonder how grandpa will feel. In these shows, no matter how nice a grandparent or parent is to the FL, as soon as they find out their grandson or son  is in love with the FL, they begin to sing a different tune. Suddenly their friendliness towards the FL is curbed because their grandson or son wants to marry her. I don’t know if I can expect grandpa in this show to surprise me and not follow this common behavior.

Why is the step-mom focused on HM as his wife? Is it because she thinks their family is of lower standing so won't be an issue when she tries to push KJ out for her son.

I believe High Heels thinks she can control HM so that’s why she’s pushing for her to become KJ’s wife. She probably thinks she can control and manipulate KJ’s life that way.

Oh thank goodness I was kinda upset for a minute there lol. If its after some time when they have grown old together then its all good. Am smiling again:tounge_wink:

I hear you.  Even though I read in earlier posts on this thread that she died in the novel epilogue, not for a moment did I think this show would have a sad ending. Another member also said that the novel author said the drama ending will be different so who knows how it will end. They already changed several things from what others have said on the thread like the storyline for A’wu’s former maid and Zitan.

  12. @gingerchews @Leila Essalih, As far as I know XQ only have two kids and they are born from A’Wu. Others who read the novel posted earlier on the thread that XQ only had two kids and even after A’Wu died he remained faithful to her. Only unless the drama changes that but I doubt it because I think he would have told A’Wu already. Only unless he fathered a child he didn’t know about.

  13. @Polly @UnniSarah, I was actually suspecting General Song in episode 14 regarding jailing the maids who leaked information about XQ leaving the military camp. When the housekeeper confessed and A’Wu turned her back to General Song to tell the other guards to let the rest of the maids go, General Song had a subtle diabolical smile on his face. I honestly believe he’s a mole already but he’s playing a long game. I hope he dies a traitor’s death in the future.

  14. @Polly A’Wu is so much better than her sister-in-law especially in morals. She didn’t love XQ when she married him but she wasn’t going to disrespect herself by having an affair with the third prince. I find the sister-in-law gross. She can refuse her husband but why is she out there constantly sleeping with the second prince? I want her to be found out so bad so that they can throw her out. Then she can sleep with the second prince all day if she so desires.

About the Wang and Imperial families, that’s some drama right there. So nobody got to marry for love. I guess that’s why they didn’t care about A’wu’s feelings for the third prince. Fortunately in A’wu’s case, it turned out that their interference has possibly led her to the greatest love of her life.

  15. @UnniSarah, I don’t know if we will see them again. I only saw up to episode 21. A’Wu is currently in the capital so maybe the story has moved on from those two women. There’s also A’wu’s ex-friend who is plotting revenge against her. I think the ex-maid will succeed in poisoning A’Wu. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that only Helen Zhen will have the antidote to the poison to cure A’Wu.

It is true that later Awu will ask XIao QIe to take Weixin as concubine? Coz her health issue Awu can't give any child for Xiao Qi?

As far as I know from earlier posts on this thread, A’Wu is the only woman XQ will have intimate relations with and they will have a son and a daughter. It was even mentioned that XQ will be strict with the son but spoil the daughter or go easier on her.

@Catleya, it seems to me that the Wang son was forced by his father to marry the wife. It was also a political marriage like all the others in this drama. Remember that night when his father forced him to return from going to his concubine, he and his father argued and we find out this was an arranged marriage and the son and the wife don’t get along. I wish he will find out soon that his wife is having an affair with the second prince. All of it is so messy.

  17. @Catleya, do A’wu’s parents love each other? I never got that impression. I do understand the kind of loyalty that comes from spending years together though. I also don’t think the empress and emperor love each other. I see these relationships more like the relationships I saw in Story of Minglan where a lot of them weren’t necessarily love but a loyalty and familiarity formed through duty to the husband and vice versa.

The wife of A’wu’s older brother is something else. It seems that most of her scenes are spent in bed with the second prince or, to put it another way, with her clothes off. It would be hilarious if in the end both of them fail miserably in their aspirations to the throne.

  18. @UnniSarah, I believe General Song is the soldier we see with XQ from the beginning. He was the one teasing XQ about him getting the chance to marry A’Wu. He was with XQ when he first met A’Wu at the festival when she was with the third prince.

@skibbies, I would prefer too that XQ and A’Wu live outside the court and travel the world like he promised but is there really someone solid that can lead the country? I don’t support any of the princes and I would hate to see any of them on the throne. Maybe a young prince who hasn’t been introduced yet, who was brought up sensibly, would be a good choice.

@hallee, I saw that guy too who attempted to stab the empress and I wondered if he was a eunuch.

They dont afraid that XQ's loyalty to wang family? As they know that XQ already married to AW..

XQ ran away from the Wang family head on the night of his wedding. He plotted this with Advisor Wen. Doesn’t that therefore show that he’s wary of the Wang family who wanted to gain more military power through him? XQ is a smart man who doesn’t want to get caught up in court struggles if he could avoid it.

It's a ploy, the 2nd prince and Heng Yan's dad initially instigated the other nobles to not render help to XQ's army so that when the army is in dire state, they can come in and offer help. This way, they hope to gain XQ's loyalty and military support.

Not sure about the 3rd prince. But even if he does, think he will end up as one without absolute power and under the control of somebody.

Too bad for the second prince because I honestly don’t think XQ will give them his loyalty. Even worse if and when he finds out that they schemed to withhold rations from his army thereby putting the protection of Ningshou, and therefore the country, at stake. XQ doesn’t seem to be interested in being loyal to anybody but the people of the country. The monarch may change but I get the impression he’s really for protecting the common man and his army.

Can somebody explain later will xiao qi  and awu become emperor and empress?? Coz i thought they wanted to stay away from the life in palace..

Yes, I understand that they will become the emperor and empress later on. It was mentioned on this thread in prior posts. That’s because the royal family will become very corrupt and because they won’t leave XQ and A’Wu alone. If people are always trying to kill them, there comes a point where they will say enough is enough and start fighting back to take back their freedom to live.

To add to that, her father had sent a spy to spy on Xiao Qi and Xiao Qi had made it known that he does not trust her father. Wang Xuan will be stuck in the middle if both her father and her husband are at odds.

I think A’Wu will ultimately choose her husband. It’s the same dilemma her mother have/had, being caught between her husband and her brother who is the emperor. XQ already told A’Wu that they will face life and death together. That seems to imply it’s them against the world.

@Polly, does a different ending mean not becoming monarchs or something else?
