And I just love the idea that Song Ah and Joon Young are like a couple from a Jane Austen novel. Forever talking in formal language and only using banmal in very private moments. YES! That's my headcanon now.

They didn't switch to banmal right? :D

Are you a fan of Jane Austen. I’m a huge fan?. I have all of her novels and re-read them mostly in the summer. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite followed by Persuasion.

About SA and JY, I didn’t know that. Thanks for that insight. I’m just happy we basically got 25 minutes or so of them together and not 10 minutes.

    Thanks @Jillia @Ameera Ali for the GIFs!!❤❤❤

What happen to the annoying people??

Professor Yoo looked solemn. I think he will change.
Professor Song and Professor Duster still seem the same in terms of their antagonistic relationship.

JK and SA actually had two conversations on separate occasions. Waiting for subs to know the content.

  3. @Ameera Ali, thanks for posting that gif of JK and HH. I like how HH told her to be happy and leaves. I hope he finds someone that will see and appreciate his value. I also loved the scene that you posted where HH comes to JY's apartment and silently embraces him. So beautiful.

Ah, finally Song Ah visits JY in his dressing room backstage. Wow. They really brought up Schumann, Brahms and Clara in the last episode too. It was mentioned in the first episode or so.

YEs!!!!!!!!!! She was mentioning Friends so much that I thought she would say let's be friends. But she told him I LOVE YOU. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They got back together and kissing.:heart2beat:

  4. Wow, I didn't foresee that Song Ah's mom would be the one to give her advice about JY over dinner. I can make out that Song Ah told her they broke up but the mom continued to discuss the matter with SA.

Song Ah went to JY's concert but she was too late and couldn't go in. She's watching it from outside in the hallway on a tv screen. :tears: Nice to see JY's mom at his performance.

Ah, but now he's playing again and she got into the concert hall. It's so beautiful how as SA listens to JY plays, he moves her heart. I interpret her gesture of putting her hand on her heart as that.

  5. @debbsthebee Mines might be 1 on a scale of 10. However, I'm still watching the live stream. The episode begins with JY's confession and Song Ah's response. I think she told him she needs time to think about what he says and he said he'll wait for her answer.

OMG! It's so sweet that Hyun Ho comes to visit JY at his apartment and simply silently hugs him. It's so beautiful.

After that we have the scene of HH, JY and JK playing at the foundation concert and SA turning the page for JY.

  6. @Lmangla, I had read the link you had provided to the Dramabeans review of the drama Phoenix. I liked the storyline. As of now I’m contemplating watching the daily show version. Is there really a revenge part because it didn’t seem that way in the shorter drama version?

Three of the drama shows (Alice, Brahms, Lies) I’m currently watching will end this week. I’m mostly looking forward to Kairos next week. Oh, and @Lmangla, I really didn’t like the terminal illness introduced in Lies. The more I think about it the more annoying I find it.

  7. What a beautiful but sad episode. I feel like there were a lot of goodbyes in this episode that will prove pivotal in the lives of the characters. Song Ah making the painful decision to give up piano, JY parting ways with Professor Yoo, Cha Young In encouraging Professor Yoo to be a teacher and not a professor, SA-DY-MS saying starting anew, JK finally letting go of JY, JK withdrawing from consideration to be a professor, etc.

However, the saddest event for me was the passing of Chairwoman Na. @Y.Q., I also share the same sentiment that nothing matters in front of death. I cried for Jung Kyung and her dad who now only have each other. I like that Chairwoman Na said her goodbyes to a few people even if she didn’t know it would be the last time. So poignant, really, her words of encouragement and/or admonition that will remain with those Individuals.

My favorite scene was that of our Dimples couple performing. It was beautiful. I don’t think I have ever seen JY so energetic while playing the piano. It was kind of like a duet where he kept looking at her while he played and she would look at him. I kept thinking, “doesn’t he have to read the music?” So cute really. To top it off, he finally expressed how he feels about her and confessed to loving her three times. I don’t know what it will take to bring these two back together but I hope it’s not in the last 10 minutes of tomorrow’s episode.

  8. Will JY quit the piano and SA, the violin?
I naturally assume their will be a happy ending so this is the question that interests me the most.

About Song Ah, I think she will continue to play the violin recreationally. Professionally, I don’t think so. By all accounts, her violin peers, other music majors (the pianist), the professors and even the conductor of the orchestra didn’t think that she had sufficient talent to get selected for a musical performance. I honestly think that if she pursues the violin professionally, her enthusiasm for the violin might be diminished and whatever confidence she has in playing it might become shaky through people’s criticisms. After all, musicians play music for people to enjoy and people can be critical. (Look at the harsh criticisms aimed at Professor Yoo’s piano album) I also look at JK who was once touted as a talent and she was recently told she’s a failure. Yet, Song Ah thinks that JK can play the violin better than her. As painful as it is for Song Ah to give up on her dream of pursuing the violin as a career, I think she should realistically consider if she has enough talent to make that dream a reality.

With Joon Young, I would love to see him continue as a pianist. To me it’s all that he knows right now anyway. I think if his financial burden is dealt with, he might actually have the freedom to enjoy the piano. Personally I think the weight of the piano for him is tied to the Kyunghoo Foundation and his parents’ financial woes. I sincerely hope that he will love the piano again because, without comparison, he seems to be good at it. Maybe his accompaniment with Song Ah could help to revive any love that he had for the piano.

  9. @Ameera Ali, they’re so cute. ^_^ I’m really happy for Kim Min Jae that viewers enjoy this drama. His first lead role that I saw him in was the Joseon Matchmaking Agency. It wasn’t that well received but I still enjoyed his performance. In fact that’s where I decided I will follow his drama shows. I remember @Jillia was also on that thread too. This drama will certainly give him more exposure as first male lead although he’s played a lot of second male lead roles in past and popular drama shows. :fullofhearts:

  10. Min Sung: I just finished watching the episode and the scene that made me bawl was the reunion between Min Sung and Song Ah. Friendships are so nice. I don’t mind that Min Sung was mad at Song Ah before. Friends do fall out at times. I’m just so glad she came around in time to lend a shoulder to Song Ah so that she can have a good cry. Notice Song Ah only broke down completely with Min Sung. :tears:

Jung kyung: @vangsweetie637 @Jillia I’m right there with you guys wanting to slap JK. I think she was downright “spiteful” to Song Ah. Notice that after JY rejected her in the practice room at the campus, she was emotional as she paused by the lockers as though feeling faint. I guess she was hurt by JY’s rejection and as soon as she encountered Song Ah she wanted to hurt her by spinning the truth about the musical piece to make it seem as though JY is still hung up on her. I immediately thought that maybe she’s the kind of person who would rather destroy the thing that she couldn’t get so that nobody else could get it. That’s pretty sad.

Hyun Ho: I’m glad that he was offered a position in the NY orchestra. It looks like he’ll accept it. I suppose that’s why he was telling DY that he wanted to leave Seoul especially now that he’s broken up with JK. Kudos to him for deleting her phone number. I hope he finds someone who will truly love and appreciate him in the future.

Professor Yoo: There’s nothing to excuse him for sending that recording to his “hyung”. He didn’t tell the guy it’s not him playing and to take down the video. I assume the YouTubber received it from the hyung. Anyway, hopefully that’s settled for now since JK basically showed him that she can prove it’s JY’s music.

Dimples Couple: After watching them this week, I think the breakup will be good for them. They each have a lot going on and since Song Ah was also unhappy with JY’s behavior, it makes sense that she wants to come out of that unhappy situation. I don’t know if it will make a lot of difference emotionally (I’m sure they’ll miss each other) but at least she can spend time on things that make her feel happy. Hanging out with her friends, doing stuff with her family and deciding on her career are activities that I see her doing. Meanwhile, JY needs to straighten out his financial situation. Too bad he doesn’t have any friends left so things look bleak for him. Poor guy. Everybody uses him in one way or another. Only Song Ah and Unni YI were good to him and for him.

My problem with Song Ah is she does know but offers no comfort.

He told her he hates competitions and would rather die than do them. When she finds out he has a competition, she remembers the conversation but she leaves without saying anything and even when he hints he wants her to stay she still leaves. When he tries to discuss playing for her and why can't they practice, she says later later (and does not share that she is afraid to play in front of him). When he is having a hard time with the piano and asks her opinion, she gives him so "that's what a professional sounds like" and when he tells her that is not a compliment' she says so you noticed. When he tells her about the debt (and how he can't stand that JK and the Chairman paid the debts when he thought he was managing) and how the piano is something he plays for his father's debt; she says thanks for tell me.....but nothing else. I agree with JY, what good does sharing burdens do when is not like he has received comfort or help from anyone. If he did receive help it was at a price.

Song Ah's obsession with JK is her insecurity.  Yes misunderstandings have happened but she is putting all of the blame on him. He cannot beat JK up and say stop coming.. Does she want him to put a restraining order out on her? He can't help what JK does. Since episode 6 or 7 he has put JK further and further away. When SA asks him to stay away from her completely because she is uncomfortable does.  I don't think SA will ever have any confidence that would not make her a burden to JY in two episodes. I have no doubt that JY loves SA and she was the only light in his life. I have every doubt about SA because she has not shown me.

Thanks for sharing a different perspective. I do think Song Ah is insecure. However, perhaps because JY is also inexperienced in love, he didn’t realize that it’s important to reassure Song Ah and that he should avoid making her feel insecure. It’s no secret that JY had feelings for JK. This has been exposed publicly to SA, HH, and JK. Therefore, JY continuing to see JK was a bad idea all along especially with JK acting presumptuously to both SA and JY. I also believe that SA is right about JY not having settled the issue of JK in his heart. I think it’s a valid concern after I saw the episode and realized that JY actually willingly accompanied JK to see Professor Song. It was a “huh” moment for me. In any case, I think the breakup will help JY decide “who” is important to him.

But I think that is my issue with Song Ah is she is not thinking of him but herself. In listening to the song lyrics for this show it always tells how steadfast JY is but Song Ah is the one that cannot stand rain or conflict.  I am sad that the only one that she can be mean to and "stand up to" is the one person who is doing any and everything he can for her.

Indeed JY was cutting off Jung Kyung because Song Ah didn’t like him meeting with JK. He did stop accompanying her on the piano and already told her not to show up in front of him again. However, I do wonder if Song Ah has a point that JY hasn’t settled things entirely in his heart about JK. A good example is his idiotic action in accompanying JK to see Professor Song. That was a stupid move on his part. Even if Song Ah hadn’t seen it, JY should realize that by doing that he is also giving JK hope. She can easily misconstrue that as JY still loves her because he stood by her when she was facing the end of a mentor relationship with her professor. Why did he go there with her? Very silly move on his part. Song Ah probably believes that he doesn’t acknowledge what’s in his heart regarding JK.
