So even if they aren't dating (I think they are but nevermind), it is very bizarre that we have never, not even once, seen them interacting since 2012. If SJK was an introvert or a very private person like Won Bin I would maybe not question it, but he is not. I have seen him hanging out with all his co-stars, with no exception (even the girl who played his love interest in O&G in 2010).

I love what you pointed out here (and also your earlier thread!) because I think it's really insightful! I think it's strange too that they've never been seen together despite how well they matched and how well they obviously got along with each other. If I remember correctly, MCW said in an interview in 2013 she treasures her projects because of the co-stars she meets. At that point, she had just finished filming Nice Guy with SJK and was in the process of filming Good Doctor with Joo Won. Up till then she had remained close with all the actors and actresses she'd filmed with before -- Lee Seung Gi, Moon Geun Young, Han Hyo Joo. It doesn't make sense that SJK would be an exception.

Case in point, one of her interviews in Jan 2015, when MCW was promoting Love Forecast with Lee Seung Gi, she still chose Song Joong Ki as the actor who was the 'most compatible' with her. At that point, SJK was months away from his army discharge.

Besides the Lee Kwang Soo comment which makes me convinced that she stayed in touch with her Nice Guy co-stars, the astounding lack of information surrounding SJK and MCW compared to SJK and his other leading ladies at the same time (Park Bo Young and Song Hye Kyo to name a couple) makes me certain that it's not a small coincidence.

  2. DRAMA CASTING & NEWSYeo Jin-gu and Kim So-hyun potentially together againby javabeans | April 4, 2013 | 136 Comments

    yeojingu_13a.jpg

Yeo Jin-gu in a new drama where he plays the main character? Rejoice! And here I thought we’d have to wait years and years for this budding superstar to headline a drama, held back by his youth if not by his magnetic screen presence and oodles of charisma.

The new drama is called Could We Love?, and reports state that Yeo Jin-gu is “favorably considering” it. What’s even funnier/odder/potentially better(?) is that if he takes it, his potential leading lady is none other than Kim So-hyun. I know, it sounds like something straight out of fanfic-fueled fantasies, right? Can you believe this’ll be their third time romancing each other and he’s still only fifteen? (To make you feel even older, she’s only thirteen, though she’s just a few months shy of her fourteenth birthday.)

It’s both great (since they’re adorable together) and perplexing (since surely, surely there are more than two viable actors in dramaland to pick from, without throwing the same pairs together all the time?). My first thought was to wonder whether their Moon/Sun co-star Kim Yoo-jung was too busy — the least the ladies could do is trade off starring with him, right? Although hilariously, that would make a third time for the Jin-gu & Yoo-jung pairing too (they were adorable little tykes together in 2008′s Iljimae), so maybe it all evens out.

    yeojingu_27.jpg

Casting and chemistry aside, my favorite part of the news is that this drama, which is being developed by SBS as a Wednesday-Thursday show, is NOT just throwing them together for a couple episodes as the child actors for an adult romance. Nope, it’s a high school romance, where they’ll be the main characters the whole way through. Awwww. There have been a few shows centering around younger stars, but they haven’t typically been the big dramas — usually they’re smaller cable shows or Drama Specials or low-budget non-prime-time productions.

The character Yeo Jin-gu would play is a rebellious teenage delinquent, which should be a great change of pace for him (after playing wise young princes or warm-hearted nice guys). Kim So-hyun’s potential role would be the girl with a one-sided crush on our hero. Maybe this time they can make it work in a simple sweet story devoid of murders, amnesia, rape, and bigamy. Is that too much to ask for, dramaland?

Could We Love? is another collaboration between the PD and writer of Dr. Champ andScent of a Woman, which means it’s bound to look gorgeous with that amazing hi-def camera. It’s set to air following the new Wednesday-Thursday drama All About My Romance, for a June premiere.

Kim So Hyun expressed her embarrassment about her kiss scene with Yeo Jin Goo.

The two rising stars had a kiss scene for the drama ‘I Miss You‘, on which Kim So Hyun played the child counterpart of Yoon Eun Hye. During a recent interview with ‘Section TV – Entertainment Relay‘, she commented, “It’s unfair. To be honest, it can’t even be called a peck, but headlines called it a kiss.

She continued, “I’m going to have my first kiss with someone I love.” On Yeo Jin Goo, she said, “If I talk about Jin Goo oppa, my friends get jealous. They get jealous even when I just mention him.”

Kim So Hyun added, “When I [said something cute] on set, he would say, ‘Why are you whining?’”

The pair had become a hot issue for playing the younger counterparts of Yoon Eun Hye and JYJ‘sYoochun. Their acting was highly praised, and viewers commented on how great they looked together.

Charismatic child actress Kim So Hyun will be playing a role in Boyfriend’s latest music video!

A photo of her on the music video set was posted to Starship Entertainment‘s official Twitter.  Their tweet stated, “At the filming set for Boyfriend’s new song, “Aiya”! Revealing a snippet of her shimmering uniform style. So pretty, it’s unbelievable that the photo’s un-doctored, isn’t it?”

As the boys recently finished up promotions for “Janus“, fans were surprised to hear that another comeback was in the works. However, as “Janus” was a huge hit for the group, making their next track that much more anticipated.

  6. @charmingtail, aww, thanks for sharing your testimony with us! I think Nice Guy has been a journey for so many of us, and I'm glad it helped you so much in your own story of faith.
@sunny_day, welcome to the thread! I wonder how we tag you when there's a space in between your name ;) I'm glad you feel at home here!
sunny day said:Like I said I was an extreme lurker. I lurked like hourly even in the office these 3 threads (ng, chaeki, MCW) always in active mode ;)) I know all of you guys already.

  7. @Jillia that sageuk photo manip is so gorgeous!! I'm dying here... Afjgglsshdwk what does it say!!

@charmingtail I've seen that picture so many times but I just noticed the script book on top of Chae Won's body -- did Joong Ki put it there? So intimate! I suppose at some point Chae Won really fell asleep because after that there's a shot of her and her sleepy eyes blinking up at him...

Where's @yeisha when you need some ChaeKi rom com? :P

  8. @yeisha, your comics are priceless! Colleague-zoned!
@Kgrl, I'm sure your colleagues must have been impressed to find out how much hard work you were doing during lunch :) Translation is no joke!
@p1n6an2012 (I've typed your name so many times I've memorised it, seriously :o), doooo it! I want to see your ChaeKi romcom :D
@charmingtail, I think that one interview question really shook you up, huh! I don't think our Chae Wonnie is Han Jae Hee, not in the least. When I watched her BTS and interviews (not just from NG, but from her previous shows as well), the thing that struck me most about her was her honesty and guilelessness. As good an actress as she is on screen, off-screen, she just can't pretend about her feelings and emotions. When she's shy, you see it -- it's raw, it's not manufactured so that we see something else that isn't there.
For a great actress, wouldn't putting on an outgoing, smooth-talking persona get you further? You'd be asked to go on all the variety shows, you'd be popular in more than one way. But Chae Won chooses to focus on her craft, and on variety shows, you see how she just can't pretend in real life. There was one interview where the interviewer was about to pretend to drink tea from a cup (that was empty) -- Chae Won just blurted out that there was no tea in the cup. She was trying to be helpful, but she didn't realise the interviewer was pretending, so as to spice up the interview :)
Like several others have pointed out, the words we read in the interview doesn't tell us at all how she behaved when she said it. Was she shy? Did she laugh, embarrased? Was she hesitant?
Back to the interview you were talking about. The question was a leading one: "You seem to have a good connection with Song Joong Ki..." I imagine in Chinese it's nowhere as clinical a term as it appears here. ("You seem to get along really well with SJK, huh, *wink wink*. What would you say is your relationship with him?") If I were asked it about someone I had a crush on, I'd probably blush like anything and try to make it seem less personal with my answer. In that context, I would understand why she answered like she did.
    "只是6个月一起工作的同事关系而已。我对他作为男人的一面一无所知。作为同事来讲,他是个真诚、坦率性格的人。因为在拍摄中有一张我们一起手裏握热宝的照片,有传闻怀疑是特殊关系,那时是没办法只好那样。首先,热宝只有一个,在紧迫的电视剧拍摄现场,分著用情况是不允许的。”
So MCW is careful to state that their official 'relationship' is really just one of colleagues, and she can't comment on him as a "man," preempting where the interviewer possibly wanted to go. (Though we know she thinks he has manly charms, and seriously, that was so honest of her!) But after that, she follows up with all her glowing remarks about him (frank, sincere), and brings up the issue of The Only Hot Pack in Korea (TM, @yeisha).
What I feel is that MCW is trying to carefully skirt the line between openly expressing her awe and interest in SJK, and protecting their images, like SJK has been doing -- always commenting on MCW's "professionalism," whereas he feels free to say that PBY "brightens up the set with her cheerfulness." He's so much more guarded when it comes to MCW. I think she's trying to be careful too, but her exuberance about SJK bubbles over in every interview, it's amazing and beautiful to see.
I feel the conclusion of all this is that we have to take her words in the context of everything else. This means, in the context of all her other interviews, her public appearances, her speeches, her BTS interactions with SJK, her Blue Dragon Awards handprinting event, and of course, the KBS awards.
And I'm with @Kgrl -- our ship is totally not going down, Toasts :)

  9. What a great thing to wake up to in the morning :)
@mcatcher and @charmingtail, I like your little observations about how it would be very stressful to date now, and hoping it wouldn't end up like Park Min Young and Lee Min Ho (I pray this every day :D). @mcatcher, thanks for sharing the Jang Dong Gun and Go Soo Young story. I hadn't heard it before.
@charmingtail, I like your interpretation of that scene. When I saw the picture, I assumed they were practicing to hold hands in the scene. I didn't realise they never did :D
@Kgrl, I think I speak for all of us when I ask you not to give up your thoughtful speculations and insights. Like all Toasts here, I'm sure we can draw the line between what is SilverTop Village and what is the rest of the world... so let's not stop building our village with all our observations just yet :) At least, not until we have a confirmed word from either Moon Chae Won or Song Joong Ki that it's "impossible" between them.
I do like how @blossomz described it, it's like NG is over, but our speculations about what each episode "means" continues :) So even though as the story progresses, and some of our theories are shot down (I was so convinced that Eun Gi had regained her memories at the end of Episode 12, and was just not telling anyone) -- it's still a fun ride. And it's great to share it with everyone here :)

  10. @Jillia, I wonder if we should post at the ChaeKi thread or the Nice Guy thread then! Can you imagine all the feels! :DAnd there better be fancams from that event.
@cedricgordon, I really love how Moon Chae Won is just so innocent with her reactions. I would love to see her on more variety shows (if just to see her on screen more) but then I'm also afraid she'd get bullied because she doesn't hide. Here's where some of Joong Ki's savvy would come in handy...

  11. @Jillia
Totally! I'm a happy Burning Toast tonight. I thought @Grimm_Jagg summed it up very well:
    Grimm_Jagg said:
Today was nice~~ We saw the White Van (and curtains). Moon Chae Won's stylist hit the jackpot, she looked so hot, uri Queen. Nice Guy was mentioned, Joong Ki oppa was mentioned. Our Queen was flustered. image
Overall it was a nice day for us Burning Toasts. And there was that glow.

  12. @cedricgordon, I wonder if that was the one with the long, awkward pause! She really paused for a moment too long. Well, we'll find out when they upload it all to YouTube.
@anoosha, if you'd seen it, you wouldn't have worried at all :P Chae Won was adorably awkward when Park Si Hoo mentioned Song Joong Ki and Nice Guy. In the end she still made a reference back to the show, saying that Si Hoo and "Joong Ki oppa" are both Nice Guys.

  13. I seriously can't wait for the translation of tonight's Blue Dragon Awards! :D
Park Shi Hoo mentioned Song Joong Ki (he tripped over his name)! And then there was this long, strange pause after he asked Moon Chae Won something else. (Was he asking her to compare him and Song Joong Ki? :P)
Here's a rough translation by the lovely @p1n6an2012:
p1n6an2012 said:PSH talking about SJK and MCW changing her love
and MCW talking about his YUCHIHAGE? childish way of saying things hahaha

MCW: i like both of you~
both of you are CHAKHAN NAMJA (nice guys)
PSH: ahh ye~~(oh yes) chakhan namja

    :))

  14. @populovehyun, what an awesome photoshop!! I hope MCW gets her wish and acts in a spy/mystery movie next year. With SJK by her side! :D
And if you haven't already seen this at the NG thread, thanks to @p1n6an2012!
p1n6an2012 said:SJK in red carpet (mama) :x please bear with my translations... ^:)^
host: did you come here as the wolf boy or the nice guy? (about fashion)
SJK: if i came here as the wolf boy *laughs edit: i might can't get up here....i think i came here as the Nice Guy...
host: oh so you're a nice guy today~
and they asked him what stage he anticipates the most...
he answered: "i'm a fan of bigbang so i want to see their perfomance..."

  15. Sorry Burning Toasts, was swallowed up by RL for a while, but just popping in to say that this thread makes my day every day :) Thanks for all the awesome insights, translations, MVs and manips shared by all Toasts (typing that makes me hungry!).
Just making one observation -- Song Joong Ki's really coming clean with all his old relationships, huh. It's like there was a sudden flurry of news report after news report day after day about SJK's (previous) love relationships. Drawing attention away from his current love life? ;)

  16. Omo @Celandine, I've been waiting for that all my life!! :o I'm going to watch it now. It's the closest I can get to MCW and SJK in a sageuk! @Moon2Won I absolutely love your dream (including that little touch of having Jae Hee as the King's concubine rofl). I need to see that on my television screen now... @populovehyun (oops I credited wrongly earlier) , your comic seriously made me laugh out loud! SJK, if you don't grab her, PSH will! He kept gushing about how beautiful MCW was in The Princess Man BTS :P I liked that mental image of old nosy ahjummas. I feel like I'm aging beyond my years ;)

  17. Going to do a quick repost because I think @coastalbreeze's explanation got lost a bit in the forum... and I thought it was a good description of what "sense" probably meant. I'd thought it was posted here on the ChaeKi thread but I searched for it and found it hiding on the NG thread.
@coastalbreeze, hope you don't mind the repost!

Naughties/Burned Toasts of the World! I just asked my mom what the word 센스 (sense) means in Korea, and she said it is used to describe the quality of having a heightened awareness of your surroundings, or other people's emotions... It's like being really connected to what's happening around you, and having the ability to catch the hidden or subtle meaning behind people's words or actions. I don't know if there's a word for that in English.

My mom also said its very different from being just book smart. So I guess I'd equate it to being intuitive and street smart, going by this definition: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=street%20smart

    eca09cebaaa9-ec9786ec9d8c67.jpg

Actor Song Joong Ki recently revealed that he’d like to win Best Couple with actress rather than actor.

On the episode of KBS2’s Entertainment News that aired on November 24, Innocent Guy star Song Joon Ki had an interview for the show.

When a reporter brought up success of KBS’2s series Innocent Guy and movie A Werewolf Boy and subsequently winning awards, the actor said: “Winning an award makes me happy.”

When asked if he’s expecting winning any of awards,” the hit-maker candidly replied: “I must admit I am. There’re various awards I wish to get, but Best Couple is at the top of my wish-list.”

The heartthrob has won Best Couple before for his role in KBS’s Sungkyunkwan Scandal in 2012, but he celebrated it with another heartthrob Yoo Ah rather than a beautiful actress.

Song sent a video message to Yoo Ah In, where he quipped: “I wish I’d win Best Couple with an actress. Sorry, Ah In. I feel sorry, but can’t help it.”

  19. I've that perception on MCW that she has that "I-know-what-I-want-and-I-know-how-I-feel" vibe in her.

Ah @cedricgordon, I think you've hit the nail on the head. I was trying to figure out why Moon Chae Won was being so direct and open with her feelings. We theorised that Song Joong Ki wanted some time to separate from the character of Kang Maru, but I was wondering why it seemed like Chae Won wasn't doing the same. Perhaps it hearkens back to her behaviour behind the scenes -- Joong Ki always seemed cautious and brooding, in full Kang Maru style, whereas Chae Won seemed to be better able to snap out of her character, which led to many funny BTS where she's displaying her 4D personality a lot more freely. Probably that's also why she knows with such certainty that she likes Song Joong Ki, and is thus a lot less afraid of showing it.

@sadie910, welcome to the thread! :) It's always great to have more Burnt Toasts ChaeKi-ing up the atmosphere!
