  1. I LOVE the novel and re-read every now and then. My favourite is the third life time in the human realm, where so many funny incidents happened due to Si Ma Qian having lost his memories of the previous lives. Chen Fei Yu fits my image of SMQ, but I am not familiar with the female lead. Looking forward to seeing the finished drama.
  2. Yes, I agree that realistically, they all As drama watchers, most of us would wish for a happy ending for the main couple, and the characters who have become dear to us as we journeyed along the drama. Some bad drama endings may have left us feeling frustrated and betrayed, but I think that this drama’s sad ending was logically and realistically reasonable and acceptable for me. Enjoyed watching this and would recommend this to anyone who likes a good, romantic wuxia story.
  3. I’m also at episode 34. Some people who watched the VIP release of the remaining 6 episodes said to stop here if you want a happy ending. So happy to see that Ru Yi did not die, and the Princess A Ying has really grown in maturity and political awareness. The actress makes the character believable whether as a Princess or a Prince. A Jiu is still a little brat ding donging back and forth between love sick psycho puppy and political manoevering with the Emperor to advance his position within the An Kingdom. He should get his act together if he wants to do something good for his kingdom. I like watching the lovely relationship of Chu Yue and Shi San - the actress is doing a good job in showing the wonderous feelings of her falling in love with Shi San.
  4. I was expecting a sequel to Ancient Love Poetry, but no, they have changed the names of the High Gods, and there is no sign of Tian Qi, my favourite out of the 4. The basic story line in the novel is still intact - mission to recover the lost fragments of the new-born fire Phoenix. The drama added a master-servant bounded together spell, so there are plenty of laughs arising from the antics of the dissatisfied servant, A Yin. Not familiar with the main lead actor, but of course, female lead Zhao Lu Si needs no introduction. No surprises from her here, she’s displaying her usual acting styles. Happy to see ‘Yuan Shen’ here, also acted with Zhao Lu Si in Love in the Galaxy. He will provide much needed eye candy for me, since the main male lead is not really doing much for me (hope his fans don’t hate me, just a personal preference … heh heh)
  5. Just watched episode 1. Liu Shi Shi is as pretty as ever. Loved her in Bu Bu Jing Xin, and she doesn’t look a day older since the time she acted in that drama. And I was so happy to see her reunited with Ye Qing, Ruo Xi’s good friend, Yu Tan, in BBJX. LSS ‘s dancing is so nice to watch - after all, she graduated from Beijing Dance Academy. So far so good. I am interested to continue watching. I am intrigued by Liu Yu Ning’s Ning Yuan Zhou and can’t wait to find out why he is just a lowly cook in the Wu army. The way he is carrying his wok is so cute! Anyone else watching this?
  6. Lots of slapping going on in the past few episodes … lol. It was satisfying to see the highly detestable Xue Shu getting slapped by her aunt, her father, the princess, but she managed to get her revenge on XN later by slapping her not once, but twice, and having her whipped. So now, the stage is set for XN and of course, XW to plot their revenge on her and the Xue Family. The Emperor will surely regret his decision to marry off his princess sister to the barbaric Da Yue when they turn around and attack Da Qian in the future. Wondering how the convenience marriage of Luu Xian and Fang Yin are going … cute couple, hope they survive the bloody war and the drama shows them having a happy ever after.
  7. I did not know that new episodes were out. What is the most up to date viewing schedule now? Episodes 21 and 22 were quite exciting. XieWei’s original plan went all wrong. First thing that went wrong was, he originally intended to go to the Tong Zhou Army himself, but Minister Gu proposed Zhang Zhe. If he objected, then it would incur the Emperor’s suspicion so he let it be. But XW was ready to sacrifice ZZ if he knew too much. Second thing that went wrong was, JXN was taken away with ZZ because she happened to run into him when she was at the jail to see YL. So, XW decided to go to Tong Zhou to save her on the pretext of checking the army base and rebels there but the Emperor ordered General Xue to support him. Since they were already going to be there, XW planned to have the rebels get rid of the Xue army. Unfortunately, General Xue ordered a retreat so that did not materialise. Now that ZZ already knows too much and has suspicion of XW’s involvement with the rebels, XW wanted to kill him. In order to protect JXN, XW ordered Xiao Bao to take her away to safety by poisoning her. She was supposed to stay at the inn to be rescued, but she realised that XW had lied about the Yong Ding medicinal hall being a ‘communications station’ when she checked it so she went to seek help at the Tong Zhou army. That got the army involved, and resulted in the Xue army retreating before they could be exterminated. Xie Wei : Jiang Xue Ning!!! Aaaarrrrhh!!!
  8. In the original novel, JXN was the ‘evil’ woman who had schemed her way up to becoming the Empress. After her death, she was reborn as her younger self and what we are watching now is her attempts to change the outcome of the many lives she had sacrificed on her ascent to the top position. However, the Chinese government forbids the dramatisation of rebirth or time travel, so the story was changed to that of the writer of the story being dissatisfied with how the story ended and rewriting it in Episode 1. So we are now watching the re-written story, with flashbacks to the original story shown in sepia tone. Anyway, I am enjoying the drama so far but sometimes feel that it is quite rushed, like jumping from scene to scene. ZLH and BL are doing great. I have not watched up the part when Zhang Zhe appears so I am looking forward to seeing the actor again. I liked him a lot in the Scent drama.
