It has been reported that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Gyo have confirmed their casting in the new KBS drama titled “The Descendant of the Sun.”

On April 2, the drama’s production company announced that the main cast will consist of Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Gyo, Jin Goo, and Kim Ji Won.

“The Descendant of the Sun” will be Song Joong Ki’s very first production following his upcoming discharge from the military this coming May 26, as well as Song Hye Gyo’s return to the small screen in about two years since “That Winter, The Wind Blows.”

Fans have already begun to express their anticipation for the drama, as it will be a meeting of two top stars that have been recognized for their acting abilities in a variety of genres.

Furthermore, the scriptwriter, Kim Eun Sook, has previously earned high viewer ratings surpassing 20% through her last production, “The Heirs.”

The drama is expected to begin airing during the second half of the year on KBS.

What are your thoughts on the casting?

  2. Song Hye Kyo in Talks for Same Drama Song Joong Ki Is Considering

    SongHyeGyoSongJoongKi.jpg

Song Hye Kyo is currently in talks to be the female lead of writer Kim Eun Sook’s upcoming drama “The Descendant of the Sun.”

A representative from KBS has stated, “Both sides are considering carefully. Song Hye Kyo and the producers are deliberating and will make a decision later.”

Writer Kim Eun Sook has previously written SBS hits “The Heirs” and “Secret Garden.” NEW (Next Entertainment World) will be producing the drama. It will be their first time producing a drama. They recently worked on the movie “Twenty.”  Song Joong Ki is also considering joining the drama as the male lead.

KBS continued, “Since our goal is to broadcast in China at the same time [as Korea], we plan to broadcast in the latter part of this year” and “filming is scheduled for late May.”

What are your thoughts on the potential pairing of Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki?

  3. I first remember when SBS announced the upcoming new drama, 'Pinocchio'. My anticipation keeps stronger when PSH confirmed to join the cast. Then, I thought about who might be the male lead after all it was the overall same crews from 'IHYV'. I am not the typical K-pop fan  who wish who might pair up with who. I just hope whoever can act out and make the drama good, I am fine with that. LJS finally confirmed to collaborate with PSH in the drama. My curiosity triggered and I started watching the drama late. I just do not know what is the reason that I can't watch this along with Korea broadcast time.
And finally the popularity and the gossip on this drama keep increasing. I wondered why it's like that. I can't help it, but to watch the drama. The 1st episode introduced the childhood story in line with building up the foundation of the overall plot. I find it interesting and continue with the next episodes, as to the stages of the character relationships and the overall genre of the drama.
Finally, I can't help to know the ending of this drama I resist myself to know those episodes that I haven't watched. I am watching until episode 13. The story plot line till episode 13 is just fantastic. Not a typical Korean drama, I can say. It's not romance oriented, it's more towards the interaction between the characters to deal with their day to day activities such as their family, love as well as revenge.
The genre of this drama is somewhat innovative, it's focusing on the reporters' job scope, their daily activities. Although I doubt their scenes are showing the reporters, representing the actual footage on the real reporters' responsibilities, but at least I am confident with that the 'Pinocchio' crews can show how the basic reporters work. Not denying that there are mutual character lines in the story, but overall the story flows very well. The emotions and actions from the casts grasp very well.
One more point that I need to focus on 'Pinocchio' drama is that there are several scenes showing the drama that are very different from typical Korean dramas. Their flashbacks and sub scenes are different and it can bring an impact on the audiences to follow the story well. There are cameos in this drama, including from cast in "IHYV". It is awesome, and it can blend so well with the characters in the drama.
Overall, I am too excited to watch the remaining 7 episodes and it's sad to know 'Pinocchio' is going to end. However, it's a great drama that everyone can discuss and chat about. It's great to end the story and makes it an everlasting memory to all of us. Fighting! Everyone!
Oops! Forgot to mention about the OSTs for 'Pinocchio'. It's great and I wish to collect all the songs in my collection. :) I almost forgot that I had posted a comment on the 2nd page! LOL! http://forums.soompi.com/en/discussion/comment/27754655/#Comment_27754655
Disclaimer: Those are my personal opinions, I am not condemning any other dramas. I respect all other K-dramas

Let me upload the three main lead pics once more.
PMY's short hair is better than I expected. My first feeling towards her hair style is fine, and it's quite adaptable to the genre of the drama (as I could say she is the reporter in this drama. It requires a lot of running, chasing, etc. on something) It's definitely convenient to look at her hairstyle, alongside with the two male leads.
JCW, undeniably he looks smart and he definitely can stand out and put a heroic move in this drama. Veteran actor, YJT can actually show his acting. Just can't wait for this to come, (Yeah! Yeah! I know it's in December, but it's just two months to go! Time flies fast, you know!) Anyway, can't wait!  :x
