  1. I'm a fan of this webtoon, i hope they do a an adaptation as faithful as possible, with all the special effects and the plot. Please don't make Hyun a pretty boy because he isn't, and for Hyuk, he's hella smart and calculating but with an aura of charisma and a leader too, so they really need to work with the webtoon creator(s) for this to turn out as amazing and chilling as the original webtoon.

  2. I think the same, Ji Ah is reckless, i guess it's because she doesn't realize how severe is the danger to which she exposes herself... not only physical danger but her soul/spirit too, since her actions can disturb the other world realm/order and is in danger of her soul being exposed to those otherworldly punishments (like they did to Yoon).

She's smart and brave, so i think down the road, she'll learn to act bravely without falling into reckless behaviour, i believe that she doesn't mean any harm and is doing all she can to know what happened to her parents, but, again, she doesn't realize the gravity the danger she faces.

  3. I like this drama, i just wished that they didn't do it so much cliché like they did in ep 1-2... This story has a lot of potential, especially with the brothers issue... but, they just introduced the first love troupe and the reincarnation troupe...

A love can be the most magical, awesome and eternal love WITHOUT the NEED for lovers to have met when they were children/ancient creature nor for them to be reincarnated and be destined to meet again and again and again. Like, it seems that the only way for a love to be memorable/great in most kdramas and fantasy kdramas is to be one of these overused clichés troupes (1rst love , reincarnation)

Not to mention that that cliché of the reinarcated lover leads to the actual question if the lovers love the actual person in front of them or the idea of their late lover and some characteristic of the new person. I would love if the FL isn't the old love of the fox.

Aside from that, this writter really needs to separate their writing from the Goblin route, because so far, this seems like an updated AU of goblin.

  4. Tbh the main plot doesn't seem trivial to me, it's all about corruption: it's not only on a grand scale, but in the everyday acts that led people to corruption. It's not a fireworks event or "big-bad-crime" it's the small things that pile up, and pile up and pile up 'till you end being part of that corruption. It evens drags down people who was honest (either by mistakes, by own will or by believing they were doing the right thing). Besides, 2 times (i think) Crime and Punishment (Dostoyevski's) was mentioned, and there, the protagonist (Raskolnikov), is someone who commits murder in search of doing some good, but in the end is another person stained by corruption.

There's a quote i love and that illustrates what happens with corruption:

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

  5. My god... i cried tonight... it felt like i was living the same moment as JY, SM and DJ wife... this episode was a rollercoaster of emotions (mostly angst and cry). A masterpiece.

Also, I think SM superior (the prosecutor with glasses, the one who asked about if SDJ was alive and if he would wake up)

    Spoiler

is behind DJ missing fake witness case... it would be truly disapointing to know he's now stained with corruption, and on top of that, towards a prosecutor colleague.

Besides, i hope they put guards for DJ, he's not free from danger.

  6. @bedifferent yep

    Spoiler

i mean the Tongyeon survivor, the college student who survived his two friends (the 1rst case from the 1rst episode)...

Also, the female prosecutor (the young one, the one SDJ trained) she seems very suspicious and the fact that she remembered the quote from crime and punishment, makes me think that maaaayybe she has something to do with this... like, she could be like Raskólnikov, who committed a crime thinking it would do good to the community (more or less), in this case, more like a good deed, i think it could be them trying to expose and teach a lesson to all those corrupt people in the system.

And if the female prosecutor is one of or the kidnappers that would explain the fact that SDJ was hit randomly with a brick from the back and with no sign of struggle, bc he knew his attacker.

Buuut, this is all speculation haha. But (#2) the Raskólnikov thing, maybe that's what is behind: a person(s) trying to do justice, but in the wrong way (regarding SDJ case)

  7.  I think that (maybe) the culprit behind Dong Jae missing case is...

    Spoiler

the college guy from the 1rst episode. He said that prosecutor SDJ called him a lot, he sounded RickRoll'D*d off and the person who was writting the message on the youtube video, they focused on his hands, just like the student in the drowning case. And the fact that the message written was something along the lines of "People like you who don't have a conscience" shows that the college student could be the one who feel wronged by a system who responds only to powerful/rich people, since both the police and the prosecution turn a blind eye if certain people are involved in the crimes.

  8. I cried with this episode, and I never cry with dramas... all of SW's scenes: from when she is constantly apologizing, to her thought that if she disappeared everyone would be better, then the sea... it really crushed me, that was very real, too much. This episode was truly cathartic.

And then, the last minutes I went from crying > being relieved > seething (ffff TO hitting JY & DK implying things!) > happy/delighted (serves her right!)

    As I said, cathartic.

  9. About ep 13:

Out of all of this there is something that is very true and it's (paraphrasing) what TO said to SW: that she shouldn't settle for less nor being with people who don't value her.

And nobody in that place or family deserves the energy/emotional/psychological pain that SW is going through for trying to get ahead... not even the son, who clearly lets himself be carried away by nice words and not by actions, including accepting that his mother humiliates herself for him (and on top of that having the face of being embarrassed and upset about it!) For me is just not possible to justify his actions for being a teenager and divorcee son: he has perfect reasoning and is a selfish, ungrateful little coward like his father...

I really hope that SW leaves behind all those trashy people.

Which make up did you have issue with apart from the lipstick and which scenes were cheap just curious?

I dont think the story can really be judged and the people behind this show will make a good story.

    Some cheap scenes:

    • The forest scene, especially when they kill the blue blood dude, it looked like he was throwing up fluoride paint like the one we used at school.
    •  ES mother inside the cavern
    • The skull at the party thing!! LMAO, even bigger than his head.
    • When ES is walking with is mom in that desert

I actually think that a story CAN and will be judged, this has actually something to do with the people in front and behind the camera: the actors with their performance, the director, writters, make up artist, etc. Every one has a input in the drama (in different degrees of course). And so far Arthdal is much ado about almost nothin, story wise and narrative rhythm.

    • Jang Dong Gun looks fine with his mane of glory
    • The story (and bad cgi/make up) kinda reminds me of a 2007 korean drama: "The Legend/Legend", with the difference that in Legend, the story was kinda good.
    • The scenes were cheap, idk if it's the ligth/palette/the cameras, but with so much publicity and hype, the truth is that Arthdal falls short
    • And last but not least: Song Joong Ki's lipstick...

I'll give one o two more eps
