MDL grp of audience has always been biased against RJL, so what is the point of taking into account ? Also, really? This argument again?! Where is the proof that he got that "No Kissing clause"? One should not jump into conclusion without checking. If you and those audience are dying to see him kiss, here is gif for all that was cut off. If any audience want to see much deeper action, maybe time to reflect oneself over their desires.

the relationship is awkward at first, but he’s at every step of the way showing how he’s willing to improve for her. Getting better at kissing, be a lot more proactive in “taking her to bed”, etc. the contrasting between the “cold” relationship when they are outside versus the “smouldering heat” when they are inside is what made the novel a good read.
Err, did I say I ever like ZSC here ? If you track back my post, I have been complaining about how passive he is. I don't like Passive or whitewashed ZSC (here) or that ZSC in novel. In fact, I have also written in other forum. I don't like this novel or loving this drama (as much as OnO) despite RJL in it.

I think you should skip all. If anyone think kissing scenes are more important than mannerism or eye acting, yes, RJL definitely is a "bad" actor. And no, no one here is idolizing him. He is not the best actor either but I admire his eyes acting and he does it well, so he is my favorite actor now . But anyone want to blame him for his "bad" acting in Kissing scenes, then no comments. Anyone can comment about his shortcomings . He sure has. But about kissing scenes? Really?
Do mind that we are watching Chinese drama. From China.

I am seeing a lot of comments from international fans whereby they are not that happy that this drama is not showing full kissing scenes or bed scenes. They are blaming on RJL marriage and his past record as "having no kiss scenes policy". Not that I know RJL or ever will, based on what I have observed, he is not that unprofessional or have power to alter all these scenes.
Let's start with the start of no kissing scene controversy, the first famous drama that RJL had was Glory of Tang which was before his actual marriage. He kissed his co-star as required by the scripts. Along the filming process, he contracted pneumonia. He was quite sick so his gf then, now wife, really followed him around and took care of him. After that drama production, he continued to act in many more dramas (as required by agency) despite his illness NOT fully cured. He "stopped kissing" so as a preventive measure. After he got married, his dramas got shelved as his popularity decreased. Those shelved dramas only aired in these recent years (2020 & 2021) because he became popular again. So what audience are seeing (Under the Power, Autumn Cicada etc) are his old dramas with "no" kiss scenes.
In his recent dramas, (MCWML, forever & Ever), he has actually started to kiss the actresses. There are Behind the scenes and leaked scenes but they got deleted/Waterdown so as to fit the volatile China ent. (If you follow the China Entertainment industry, you would have know what is happening - actors, directors and dramas are disappearing one by one if it is considered not "fit" for audience/policies based on their regulation)
Also, for RJL to actually request to replace those scenes, it is impossible given how much of "power" he has. I am not sure of his real wealth or "power" behind the scenes, from my observation, he is respected for voicing out his thoughts but he always step behind for directors' and productions' decisions. (he complained about some of his dramas, and he said he may choose not to watch if the final product was not what he was presented for)
It is sad that an actor's marriage got blame for every time audience cannot ship the leads. I mean, I don't understand the whole shipping of actors too. They are kissing in front of 20 plus staffs members, how much of romantic feeling they can have?

My experience with F&E, however, is may be surprisingly different from other viewers. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of contemporary dramas, and for me it's really a torture to watch

I personally would prefer modern drama with sad ending and happy ending for ancient one ))). But that's just me

I don't like sad ending for modern drama. But I prefer certain level of angst. I am not blaming the drama production, because when I read the novel.. It was like that too. Very slow and steady...

Please tell me ZSC is not that passive as the story goes on.. I am finding it hard to like ZSC in modern part despite me loving RJL and his acting.
I am sure RJL took this drama saga because of One & Only ...

Hello!
I am back. This year is a treat to RJL's fans as we have 4 dramas back to back. That is like... 4 years worth of supplies. Anyways.. Here is my another 2 cents for Forever & Ever (Until ep 10 ) :
for One and Only Forever & Ever saga, Forever & Ever is actually the essence of story in novel. In fact, the original writer spent most of her time developing modern era characters. Yet, I have never felt connected with any the characters in the novel for modern part. (Novel fans, pls don't kill me
)
It is because I cannot imagine the ZSC (or accept ZSC) in my mind. When I tried to read the novel (I tried 4 times and finally finished it, somewhat), I feel that modern ZSC is totally a "failure" who cannot protect Shiyi. Granted, he was pitiful but that does not explain his slow reactions to save his love. Shiyi, on the other hand, was a total babo (바보) for me. The past was painful, it is her first love, she wants to protect him, love is sweet etc etc but I afraid that does not justify (for me) her extreme oblivion. Love is all about trust and I understand that she trusted ZSC but did she not see many red flags around him? So this whole F&E modern part in novel is not attractive to me.
Now, The drama. I think they did the right choice by airing One and only first. I adore One and Only. I feel that it is the best drama that both RJL and Bailu could ever have to showcase their acting skills. The ending was so torturing that we just needed a closure. So when F&E comes, it was like a spring after the cold winter torture. But do I like F&E as a drama itself and their characters , for now, I don't know. I think I like it. It is because currently it is still at the start and both Bailu & RJL make their characters more normal than the novel or my imagination has been. ZSC in drama version is cuter and better at protecting Shi Yi (For now) than in the novel . I love that how he tried to give her everything despite the "limited" abilities he has and all the pain that he is bearing. I love that how both are trying their best to protect each other. My imagination of ZSC was a log that fell in love but I am glad that RJL changed it to cute one. Thanks goodness.
And recently, the kiss has been a hot topic isn't it ? People are saying RJL break the curse or policy or sth. I mean it is sweet. But I wish they give RJL a break from these nonsense.

Regarding the last 2 episodes of capturing of our prince and how easy he had "gave up" his life, here is my 2 cents :
Firstly, we need to understand that ZSC is a general. That duties and loyalty come first. He sole purpose, like any other soldiers, is to protect the land and fight for people. (This mentality still apply today actually) Is he fighting blindly? YES. To the normal person's eyes. But to a soldier like him, he is fighting for the people and state. For him, every decision that he makes to fight or sacrify is directly linked to how much hazarding his people will face and how long the state will behold. So I believe all of his decisions are strongly based on those only, not Shiyi or himself.. He allowed the dog prince and the rebel Army to capture him easily because he believed that the sacrifice will be more or less himself only and not the people. If he has sacrificed himself, he knew the innocent people will not have to run for the war between Royal Army and rebel Army. The state will not fall yet as there will still be an offspring of the current dynasty to carry on. Hence he let himself go.
Then there is this burning question, why he did not take the throne and keep putting those children or useless prince to be in it? Is he not care at all? His lack of ambition, I will attribute to the traditions, the setting of the story and psychological trauma of ZSC. We are looking at the drama based in ancient China. Period. This alone can cover why ZXC is madly loyal to oath and the emperors.
Also, I think he is very much wounded psychologically. His most loved brother, the late emperor, threw him out and suspected him of treason for something he did out of goodwill - ZXC tried to find Gao Family's( or The empress's Family) sins. His act of defiance led him to be as lonely as ever and as misunderstood as ever. At the age of 13. This was a big lesson for him - Control his emotions, respect the throne and keep himself out of the palace matters. Only then, he is respecting his brother and gaining his trust. He really loved his brother and wanted his trust. No matter how accomplished he is, or how the time passed, this crushed self ran along with him. That is his imperfection. The imperfection, together with his loyalty, led him to his downfall.
When ZXC was tied and ready to get killed, RJL acted as if there is no emotion left of him. Only when he is thinking about Shiyi, then he faintly smiled. Otherwise, blank. ZXC, from my understanding, might have drained himself out completely. He beared too much for this life. For his life, the death, though painful, was a relief of his troubled world. He was ready to move on (to next life).
What is extremely tragic though, it is the way they killed him. If they have killed him with a single strike, it would have been less impactful. But the way they did to him, it raised so many red flags. He may not have moved on to his next life peacefully like he wanted (based on traditional Chinese beliefs). His glory forgotten completely. His name marked with untruth. His beautiful bones, totally destroyed. Tragic indeed.

I HATE THIS DRAMA.
I have read these chapters from translations numerous times. Imagined in my head numerous of times yet I still cannot help but cry for them. In my life, after watching countless of dramas, it never occurred to me that I will:
- Wish the drama ends without conclusion because the ending is painful and the remaining 10 episodes are the torture of our OTP.
- Wish for more chess scenes, I can just repeat that scene in loops
- Wish that somebody kidnap this OTP and make them live in jungle.
Why is it that every scenes scream PAIN? Can tell me why? I am quite sure I read those parts and seen a lot of time in my head but it just
Ren Jialun and Bailu..I am deeply in love with their chapters.-

Fei Xing did well in her crying scene too. I could really feel her pain at the realization that Gu Chuan is dying.
Love Xing Fei. I saw the behind-the-scene of her crying scene and she indeed put her heart on it. I don't get anyone who hate her character, IMO, one of the most well written FL in C drama history where ML is the actual dominant in the drama. Nevertheless, Xing Fei is a good actress and I am glad JXN was played by her.
Regarding the RJL's family, we only know he is married and has a child. All other are considered rumors. RJL fiercely guards his family from public eyes. You see, He always gets attacked and cursed out by anti-fans or whoever but he won't bother. But when his family is involved, when rumors become hot topic or turn malicious, even if it is the slightest degree, his lawyer will appear and give warning. He gives no mercy to anyone who dare to dig out more about them.
Fair enough, given how badly his love was attacked when he publicly announced his marriage. Both of them were powerless and chewed out by internet. RJL's official fan club members respect his decisions, they are even more fierce when it comes to protecting him. So yeah, his family is a "Taboo" topic that no one discuss in details on internet. All we heard are "rumors" and stop there.
Alright everyone, I had fun here. The drama has ended and time to say goodbye I guess.

RJL has broken thoughts as in he has a lot of ideas and he will say those, good, bad or weird. He likes nagging too. He is not quiet type.
RJL did not change the ending, he changed the interaction between Dr Peer and Xu Cheng Ran to give Gu Chuan more depth. He did not really like that Gu Chuan is described as Cold and arrogant so he twisted a bit, especially for his interaction between those two characters. Since Dr Peer's character is less established and the casting was not even done yet till they almost ended filming, RJL acted in the way he wanted after discussion with director. Especially those Phone calls scene between them, mostly based on RJL's imagination. The Director then, find the supporting actor and fit the Dr Peer's personality according to RJL's way of acting and suggestion.

Well, he sure has hella lots projects going on but nothing is on screen right now. As always.
The live Chat is just for him to promote some products and they did play a few games and such. We shall wait for the RJL's fan club to sub those (Hopefully) and post on youtube. But I think nothing much. IQYi has started to promote aggressively for Forever and Ever but then again, I wonder if they have actually passed the review by government. Still, promotion are massive.
For Youku, it is just not at the right time to catch this cash cow RJL since they had no high-profile dramas with him that has been filmed, so they started to put up billboard of Blue Whisper. That drama is still filming and our RJL, famous for "spoiling", told the media that they are still 20 days away to finish filming.
No way Blue Whisper is airing this year. So quite redundant.
Tencent seen to made tons of $$ with MCWML, given how low budgeted it was.
Oh, recently, Xing Fei called RJL an old man with broken thoughts during the interview. How fitting. LOL

I have watched all the episodes and this drama indeed hit my expectation more or less.
SpoilerIt is a happy ending and I am glad that they made it through hardship although the ending was so rush. In final scene, I almost broke down when the camera shifted to smart speaker with Gu Chuan's voice. I thought he died and Xiao Ning created some high tech smart speaker with Gu Chuan's voice. Luckily, real Chuan appeared.
The last 6 episodes were hard to watch. Gu Chuan was really suffering. I have seen RJL's dramas and seen his characters' getting tortured or abused numerous times. But Chuan hit differently compared to his other's roles, the most tortured one yet. He was just... smiling so sweetly in pain and sickness. Chuan was so pale, he moved slowly and softly, most of the time, his hand on his chest. Yet, he built the house, cooked, drove and fought for Xiao Ning. It was so painful to watch those scenes.
I am sure (Or I am just so biased to this scriptwriter for being awesome most of the time) the ending scene could have been cut off or censored by the censorship board. Given how detail oriented and consistent this drama plot is, the original plot may have explained on how Chuan survived with better technology but China's Censorship board is another tough nut to crack. After all, this drama indeed went through some editing changes. That's why they missed their first airing date.

I am impressed with the screenwriting. The characters are well-rounded - this is not an ordinary pet idol drama. The plot and dialog makes the drama outstanding for me and makes us care and love the 4 leading characters. Of course, RJL and Fei Xing have a special chemistry that makes the drama take off for me.
Being an animal lover, I am especially touched by Ice Cream and how his story blends in with the underlying question: At what point is life no longer worth living?

I cried a lot in episode 30, thanks to Ice Cream(and Chuan). It indeed made us think about the underlying question and I loved how it paralleled with Gu Chuan's state. Both are "saved" by XN, facing the chronic health issues and "no longer" worth living in this painful world. But they answered this underlying question beautifully in their own ways. They held on and made every second count.
The director knows how to induce the tears from audience. We had "dying" cat & "dying" Chuan crying by river, acted out by RJL who knows how to cry so well.
Btw, do you guys realize that Chuan always had his mouth slightly opened to do roll breathing when he faced events that could make his heartbeat elevated? He was doing so to control his heartbeat. kudos to RJL for being so detailed when its comes to acting and making every move unique to the character.

While We cannot force down our views on anyone, I would like to write this post to prevent any misjudgment of this drama just from our discussions/actions alone.
- The drama is currently No.1 Drama in weibo for days, occasionally the Long Ballad will take the first place, but that is fine. IMO, this drama maintains its own standard and holds onto the original idea of simple yet sweet romantic drama.
- The leads face minor challenges along the way and we loved how they overcome it. The final challenge happened in ep 25 - 27 and then we entered into the major climax of this series, the survival of Gu Chuan. I believe we can expect more for last 6 episodes, be it sad ending or happy ending.
- How drama viewers judges JXN (FL) is very subjective as of now. I still find her acceptable and believe Gu Chuan needs that much of "Sunshines" and initiative to carry on with his life, or till his departing.
In conclusion, this drama is never meant to be exciting or suspenseful but a slow-burn. And they are doing it right.
The complaint I have though, it is the advertisement. I cannot believe JXN give GC that tea or that alcohol drinks all the time. And those hotpot. No wonder, GC is

No doubt JXN is cute. Being Optimistic is good. But I find it "Tiring".
There may be times when people want to be alone, to reflect, to be sombre. And her coming around like a chirpy little bird can be irritating.
At this juncture, Gu Chuan is having hiccups with his Mechanical Heart. His Doctor has suddenly passed away. He is worried and panicking. This is not the right time for JXN to come fussing. And then be over-concerned about a sick cat.
GC together with JXN already took the cat to the Veterinarian. The Vet said there is nothing he can do for the Cat. It cannot be saved. But JXN is arguing with him about the right course of actions to be taken, of being Compassionate to the Cat. (Sorry everyone. I find that so Childish and Annoying of her)
I would prefer GC's ex-girlfriend any time. More matured

SpoilerJXN is indeed "annoying" if you are looking at Gu Chuan/older adults' POV. But she is barely 24 and the rest are well into adulthood. Twenty - four , tbh, it is a tricky age. Some are matured enough to think logically and not driven by emotions while other are just childlike. JXN, is still "immature" in the sense that she is still wearing her heart on sleeves and barely can control herself. You see, the moment she got the green light from Gu Chuan to date him, she literally started to touch him, be it in public or not. Gu Chuan also told her that she makes his "heart" races upon physical contact and that will cause discomfort and electrical discharge. Did she care? Nope. But I would like to defend JXN, in the sense that she is a "kid" and still very much consistent with her character and the age.
For me JXN is Babo but not annoying. Those childlike quality and emotional driven actions are something that we let go to be who we are today as we enter adulthood. Give her a slack.
It is also not fair to compare JXN with Gu Chuan's Ex, given the fact that his ex is also a matured woman. You may find Wenwen more suitable now but, it is just not right time anymore. She is married.
But what about 10 years ago? Was Wenwen a good fit to Gu Chuan? she was until Gu Chuan had an accident. After accident, Gu Chuan needed time to heal and figure out his life. He cant even move much but WenWen was persistent in seeing him. Was she matured to insist that to Gu Chuan 10 years ago given the severity of his injury and mental state? Not at all. But she was also driven by emotions back then, just like our JXN. She only wanted to see him. Nothing else. Not long after, She also left him without waiting him. Was she even thinking of GC's POV to do it? Not at all. But was she right to do it? Absolutely so. A young woman, uncertainty is something we cannot afford of, she was selfishly right.

I have seen till ep 30 too... It was painful.
What I can say is that, RJL loves to explore different ways of crying. The way he does in MCWML is indeed different from his other dramas but extremely aligned with Gu Chuan's personality. That brought viewers to another level of suffering.

I hear rumors of RJL, currently filming Legend of Shark with Dilreba, being criticized for using his own voice, conflict with order of listing on film credits (who gets listed first?), and other trouble from “black fans.” I can understand how his mantra is dreamers never sleep, stand up, and stand tall.
On the positive side, I think the struggles he has experienced makes him a better actor.
Marcus uses Vlinkage so not sure how the Vlinkage pull data.
Well, people used to criticize him for getting dubbed, now for using his own voice, so it is quite a ridiculous thing he faces every time. He has unique timbre and what they want him to do? Get a vocal core surgery? I feel the emotions in his voice though, especially the car accident scene. He does have a bit of accent but I am sure he is speaking standard Mandarin given the fact this drama passed censorship board with his original voice.
Speechless on listing on film credits nonsense. Fans of certain Kpop idol turned actor believed in rumor, insulted RJL & RJL fans for "wanting" to be first in list, creating mess. Eventually, it is rumor. C-ent is indeed a jungle.

This drama is considered hit given how little promotion it had and how it is promoting. We don't even get BTS videos or tidbits today! It seriously gives a strong competition to The Long Ballad,which has the bigger budget and the stronger promotion. MCWML often snatch the crown from The Long Ballad and it is always either first or second of Weibo's Drama ranking. Funny enough, RJL is working with director and the actress from The Long Ballad and he must be under serious pressure to be in this situation.
Internationally, it is considered HIT for RJL. He gained 11K Instagram followers within 1 week which was never heard of! Although, it is upsetting that some international fans are given misleading information of RJL WILL NEVER do the kiss scenes due to his marriage.

@tantaran808 Some idle discussions while waiting for next week. Just out of curiosity. May I ask which is the Korean Actor who captivates you for so long - right up to his Retirement?
I am not old enough to see my favorite actor retires but old enough to see him mature and become seasoned actor, achieving stability that he wants. He is Joo Won whom I liked from my teenage years till now(sort of). There are many good actors out there, international fans notice them starting from first wave of Kdrama popularity (Song Il Gook, Kwon Sang Woo etc). Joo Won, along with his other famous peers, falls under second wave and they once brought glory to Kdrama Kingdom.
I liked Joo Won because he never stuck to typical Kdrama standard and willing to try all sort of dramas. Good Doctor, Bridal Mask.. etc. When Joo Won was rising, he was like a horse that never stops running. He would take minimum two dramas per year, along with variety shows. Most of his international fans started from Soompi and we were restless. I was the xiao mei mei back then.
Well, he kind of achieved what he wants, which was never the fame but stability and a name in the industry. He has gone back to be a musical actor once again. He is happy and take things slow now but steady.
I like RJL, also due to same reason as Joo Won. RJL is hardworking, dare to try different genre and does not care about fame. He is rising, so he is working non stop and I hope he will achieve something for himself, be it a house or wealth, during this period. As you can see, we know RJL has many "masterpiece", some are fans due to Glory of Tang Dynasty while other are fans of Under The Power or Destiny of White Snake. Not all his dramas are good, but he is good in most of his dramas. I feel that C-Ent is way more competitive than K-Ent, but with the way RJL is working, I am sure many will remember his name when time comes.

I watched episodes 13- 16. 13 & 14 were indeed filter episodes but I am so glad that our plot bounced back. Enjoyed episode 15, so much cuteness and love that we needed until I reach episode 16.
Episode 16 is the return of handsome yet depressed Gu Chuan. Oh lord, Gu Chuan indeed needs to check himself into mental hospital for depression. SEVERE DEPRESSION. I understand why he behaved like that, why he is so scared and running away, I understand but IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Today, I am on Xiao Ning side. If I am her gugu and knows what is happening to her, I will hit Gu Chuan with a pot, not caring heart condition or what.
Xiao Ning is the star of the episodes today, her positive energy and her courage is admirable. I just want to run and pat on her back when she teared up while confessing. Confessing is hard but she is saying those words to her boss, her teacher and someone who is higher status then her in every ways. Yet she braved through it. AND THAT GU CHUN
Side Note : I love the details of the drama. Gu Chuan has a ID card for his heart condition. This aligns with the actual condition in real life. People who are on ICD/pacemaker also have those when they travel. In fact Gu Chuan's mechanical heart idea is highly related to ICD. ICD is a device that makes heart rhythm back to normal or restart the heart by giving electric shocks to heart. It is not as strong as pikachu level(like in drama) but strong enough to make those in contact with patient feel it. But very rare.

From many years ago, I was a fan of a Korean drama actor who has since retired, and I’ve never found another actor to follow until RJL. Since Under the Power and Glory, I am now addicted. (For sad endings, Glory of Tang Dynasty is a winner.)
I agree that Autumn Cicada was very disappointing - except he sure looked good in a uniform. His other historical drama Love a Lifetime was IMO not as good as Under the Power but he got to show off his playful, rascal side and more complex sword fighting skills.
One thing I’m missing is RJL’s horse-riding skills. I was impressed with Wallace Chung’s horsemanship in Sword and Brocade.
Sorry. I wanted to say he is Mr Xingfu, always looking happy. He normally talks too much and has no air of celebrity.
I did not like Glory of Tang Dynasty and did not finish it. It is too sad and tragic to the point where I don't even want to touch it.

Yes, that scene indicates her symbol of bad luck. Thank god, they were small glass shards. If the pieces are big, think of her situation. The bad luck would have endagered her life. I dont think its comical to show such dangerous things as a sign of one's bad luck.

Thanks for the m/v of him. I adore those stars who sing and dance simultaneously the same time. Its not easy to do so. I saw the m/v and was in awe. Really!!!! He is not trying so hard and all his movements are so effortless. Now, i am really enjoying his voice. Its kinda different. Its soft, screechy but not irritating to hear, husky but not rough. If you keep on hearing it, you get used to it and love it. I got addicted and saw some old videos of his songs especially him singing JTL's Sexy back. His english pronounciation is also super good. Now i have become a big fan of his and added him in my list of actors i follow. Me too, i dont like an actor easily but if i do so, i will surely be faithful and follow them. He seems to be a multi-talented actor. Thanks for all the info.

I don't like actors that easily also. I mean, I was obsessed with one actor and devoted my teenage years following that particular actor on my profile and posting about him religiously on soompi, that how I got "Legend" status but after that,life happens.
I was interested in some actors here and there but no one can hold my interest so long until RJL appeared. HHAHA
I actually saw him in Under the Power whom I thought was villain or second lead until third episode. he was so damn good IMO. I loved him a lot there compared to the rest of his dramas.

@tantaran808 I saw the ending MV, read the lyrics numerous times, and also listened to the new OST "A Summer Event". I am also getting same feel as you. If this was the Korean drama, I can close my eyes and say it is going to be 100% happy ending.
SpoilerBut MCWML being a Chinese drama, AND REN JIA LUN'S DRAMA, it might have sad ending/open ending... So I don't know. Currently I am just enjoying the ride and blindly assuming that it is Happy Ending.

Ren Jialun can sing, dance and speak/write Korean well. Yes. He was a Kpop idol trainee for 3 years. If the stars were aligned in different way, he would have become an idol.
Thank god, he did notI PREFER him as an actor because he is one hella good actor.He did not hide this fact though. He often talks about those trainee days in interviews just not which group or which company is. It is well kept secret.

Hi all, so glad to back to soompi after years thanks to this cute drama.
I am actually surprised that there are actual discussions going on here unlike some other Chinese dramas that I used to follow.
After having tons of puppy love with different actors, I landed in Ren Jialun's blackhole last year. And this drama, IMO, is so endearing and sweet that I can't help but seeking likeminded all around the internet to fangirl with me. Glad I am here.
The drama is cliché but isn't it so refreshing to see something so simple yet so lovely again? This drama gives me old Korean drama vibe that I have been missing for so long. The 12 episodes was a bliss with not much messy plot devices!! OH I am so glad!
It was 12 beautiful episodes of how 4 human beings falling in love and healing while slowly building the tensions. It is so... unexplainably beautiful for me.
Our male lead, GC is indeed fragile and I am quite worry about the heartbreak that we will be seeing. When I saw the trailer, I thought he will be a cold bad guy with sad stories, a typical male lead. I am so glad that Ren Jialun portrayed it rather differently with much more layers. I would not label GC as cold boss rather a jaded man with no "light" in sight. I really love how GC is gaining back his hopes and those eyes acting that RJL did is amazing. I saw the ending MV and I am trying to brace myself for the impact.
For XingFei, this is my first drama of her. I find her acting enjoyable, bubbly and optimistic. A typical female lead and she did not overdo cuteness which I am glad. I kind of wished that she have more emotional range for this character though, so as to diverge out but it is fine. I read an interview that this is the drama which Xing Fei cried the most in her career. So once again, I am bracing for IMPACT.
SpoilerTo guess the plot, I think we all know which direction it is going. I agree with all the discussions above and looks like our GC had to deal with loss of love due to illness, sadness over knowing how his bestie's dad is the main culprit and the actual illness itself. For our XN, her real ordeal will be to deal with the fact that GC is "dying", on top of her own family tragedy. This is a really simple drama, the only actual guess I have to do is the ending and I am sincerely scared. Unlike Korean dramas, Cdramas are ruthless.
Regarding Rumors about RJL and kissing scenes, it is kind of true that he doesn't do intense kiss scenes. BUT he still would kiss the female leads if necessary, just not intense. TBH, does kissing intensely necessary in dramas/movies ? I have watched dramas for all my life and good kissers do not mean they are good actors. Or even nearer to be labeled as decent actors for some. The acting itself speaks the most on professionalism and skills. And RJL has it.
SpoilerWhen I started to follow Ren JIalun, I find this clause quite cute, given how loyal he is to his dearest in real life but... well, people viewed it differently. So I have no comments on it. Still, I love how deeply loyal and protective of him to his love ones.
Regarding popularity and rivalry , No matter what, RJL will not reach to the highest, as in, he purposely gave up that for marriage! So ya, he is banking on acting and I am wondering why some black fans/people are still throwing nonsense to him.

Beautiful dark eyes,smooth skin and small lips. He is like a prince from comic that I read when I was young. He is wearing traditional clothes. They are not striking like what rich noblemen wore in dramas that I have seen. They are plain dark brown. Cotton clothes.Yet,there is no sign of sloppiness.He is not a simple commoner. Why will he wear hanbok in the middle of the day?
“So what role are you acting,Second lead?” I asked him curiously.
I think I must be drunk and landed in Historical drama set.I believe.
“You know how to speak Joseon language?”He asked back in wonder.
Erm. What with this noble-looking idiot?
“Never seen you in dramas before. Second lead?New actor? Who is the main lead?”
I stood up and looked around to test my luck if I will ever see some famous actors in set.None.In fact,there is no cameras also.
As I stood up,he stared at me with amazement and turned his back to me.
“My lady! How shameless...Where is your dress?!” He shouted.

“Wear this.And Bun up your hair.At least,they will think you are a young boy...My Lady. I assume you are from Russia or somewhere away from Joseon. Be it merchant or not,we have our strict laws and if you are to go out like that and arrest you,I can’t help then.”

As many thought come across my mind, chaos happened in the market.Some guards appeared suddenly and searching for someone.As roughly as they can.A fear instilled me as I was surrounded by some unnatural events,to add on,the man search. I closed my eyes and went closer to the noble-looking idiot and hugged him tightly from behind.
He has such a warm back. So warm.So comforting. Despite having no perfume in the past,his body emitted sweet yet calming fragrance. I never wanted to let him go.
“My lady? My lady? Let me go..they will suspect more if you hide like this.” he whispered
I heard nothing.

So scary. I just continue to hide behind him.
He didn’t answered back.Instead,he covered me with his hand,helping me to avoid them.Upset by no answer and somehow act of defiance(as they believed),the guards pull me away from him.

Young Miss? who me? Now What is this?

“He must be the one who kidnapped her!” One guard screamed and they all started attacking him.
Before I could say anything,they are already fighting with him. The sageuk-crazy actor is quite a good fighter as he moved swiftly and avoid the guard attacks.It was like I am watching action movie. 1 Vs 10. While the other 2 guards held me tight. Wow,this really awesome like sageuk dramas.
“Oppa! Hwaiting!” I screamed and rooted for him. Alas,he was injured beforehand,the moment they hit his hand,he almost fall in pain.With More guards joining in,he lost the fight instead.What a pity.
Worried that they will harm him any further,I shouted and explained all.
“Everyone?Everyone? Look! I don’t know what is happening and I am so confused now. But this noble-idiot,I mean this nobleman,wait are you ...nobleman? Okay,whatever.This man didn’t kidnap me. Neither I am your Miss. I am Lily...Post grad…”
“Bring her to the lord! I heard she is an odd person” The guard cut off my speech while the noble-looking idiot gave me the agitated face.

Filled with guilt,I occasionally glanced at him while they dragged both of us to large traditional house. Woah...It is so beautiful. I wonder which Joseon period I was in.
“My daughter...You are back! Thank you.Thank god.”
A lady in mid-40s hugged me upon seeing me. Another sageuk mother?Tired with all the nonsense event,I just zoomed out,letting her talk and do what she wants.I am still so confused as ever.
I looked at the man.The guard forcefully made the man kneel while he didn’t obligate.He stubbornly stood,which made guards more angry than ever. As one of the guards was about to hit him,an older man in noble clothing came out.He was indeed the real nobleman with silky hanbok and black larger gat.He spoke no words and slapped the guard instead.
“I am sorry for impoliteness,The King’s son.” He greeted the noble-looking idiot,which I gasped and looked at him in shock. King’s son,so prince? How come prince look like half-commoner,half-noble?
The rest of the guards only then bowed him in respect.So he is a hide-out? Touring the town?
“A King’s son doesn’t mean he is noble. When no one recognises him.”
Three young men came out from the house which I supposed the princes judging from their sophisticated clothing. Of 3 of them,the middle one has the most composed aura with the best hanbok I have ever seen in my life.
Everyone knelt down and bowed to them,except him and me. Eventually,he also knelt down and bowed at them.
“Sit Down!” My supposed mother pulled me,eventually,I am on the floor kneeling. Sigh. What a life.
“Yeong,didn’t the punishment make you a better person?”
“How better can he get when he is a son of criminal?” Two of them made fun of him while the man in the middle said nothing.
I am not sure,but I feel so sad and angry for him. I waited for him to reciprocate at them while he didn’t.He just kept his head down.
“Stop you all..Hyungnim,could you tell me everything?” The man in middle asked him semi-politely.
“Crowned Prince,I did nothing wrong. I saw this girl fainted in the cave. So I saved her. I didn’t kidnap her.After all,I was with you all since the morning.”
So that guy is crowned prince. Will he be king? Which era am I now? Should I ask?
I wondered as I listened to their conversation.The crowned prince nodded and told my supposed father,the one who slapped the guard,that I was not kidnapped by the King's son. What a day. Just one day in Joseon and I am tangled in the mess already.Luckily it was untied quickly. Crowned prince asked the King's son to leave,as such he stood up and left the house. Without even looking back.I kept starring at him until he was out of my sight.

“So the case is solved right? Can I...stand up now?” I asked innocently but they glared at me like wanted to burn me alive. Oops….I think I caused the trouble again.
“So you are Jo Boon Yi?” THe crowned prince asked me.
“No. Lily. What is your name Crowned Prince?” I asked politely.
Everyone glared at me again. Crowned Prince was shocked but later,he laughed it off.
“Oh,Minister Jo. You sure have a strange girl as your daughter. Haha! Let’s go Princes. We need to back to palace.” He said and left “my” house.
So this is how everything started. My life in Joseon.
Why crappy photoshopped photos? well, when I wrote this, there is no such thing as "My Sassy Girl". So yes. Written by then-teenager Ma_Oo.
