I was thinking how clever their writing/lines were in regards to the meta , but to see them butcher their (imo) best romance and SM’s character is probably one of the most irritating things I’ve ever had to experience. Why throw so many hopeful foreshadowing? Might as well have made Mawang the main character since he was the only one who got any semblance of closure. I’m thankful this cast was able to be brought together, and there will always be a special place in my heart for the good parts of Hwayugi, but I have a wound idk if I’ll ever be able to heal from.
Whether the Hong Sisters really plagiarized or not, they just need to take a really long break from writing...

If it’s true that Hwayugi was originally supposed to be 16 episodes then it’s even more infuriating what the Hong Sisters did. I don’t need or want a half assed 2nd season, when they already half assed the ending. It made me feel like OG when he said “My heart went through so much pain until now, but now you want me to ‘live well’?”

There will always be a part of me that’s salty, but I’m mostly over the last episodes now. The Hong Sisters really need to give a deep bow to the cast and especially to LSG/CSW (and OYS who got the short end of the stick). They (Hong Sisters) clearly bit off more than they could chew and with all the plagiarism accusations they’ve had in the past, I think there is bound to be some truth to it. This is why I hope there won’t be a continuation of Hwayugi. The actors suffered so much in the cold to make this drama come to life, they deserve to work with better writers.
My two cents. lol

Most of us were invested in LSG+OSY and their chemistry which is why this show worked...Idk how they’d pull it off again with different actors. I tried to get over that ending but I just .... Hwayugi was my weekend escape from reality and (not to be dramatic) but for it to end like that just spiraled me into a deeper darkness. I was so ready to forgive all the flaws if we got that true “happily ever after”. lmao.
Lesson learned: don’t become too emotionally invested in that one TV show.

Technically it's happy, but you'll feel extremely empty and unfulfilled.
........ after 10+hours I'm still ??? I wish they lengthened the Namsan Tower scene and just ended it there.
About the Netflix deal, as much as I would love a season 2 I highly doubt it will happen as it's not happened for other shows (as far as I know).

But yeah the general consensus there (from what I've seen) is people unsatisfied with the ending.. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings dropped considering most people watched it for otp.
Sorry, to me no matter how "logical" the ending may seem to some, it is still not logical to end like that imo because the plot is illogical to begin with and all the foreshadowing. They just couldn't give us at least 2 seconds of closure could they.

I guess I don't watch enough kdramas, but I'm still in shock at how "famous" writers could be so bad at wrapping up plot. In retrospect, the plot was indeed messy but it can't have been too hard if they looked at the big picture. PLUS they had so much leeway considering this is a fantasy drama where logic is allowed to fly out the window. Also the number of women vs guys that died in the drama irritated me tbh? like PK should've died from that lighter or something... gosh that ending was like going on a long treasure hunt to find nothing. It's almost as if they didn't want to make a DVD that's why they made a finale like that. lmao
This was a great comeback role for LSG since he still looked cool at the end, but OYS deserved better ...

I'm fine with the story being about MW+OG's journey, but here's my issue: why call it "absolute romantic exorcism story" and throw us a richard simmons ending like that? Yes, the GGG loose end was tied up (and the scenes were beautiful) but imo there was no need for so much filler/flashback and that amnesia trope (or at least don't have it take up so much time). There are still more unanswered questions, and Hong Sisters had a chance to answer them but ugh... and since they rehashed OG's lines from early episodes, they should have had SM call his name to bring it full circle! I would've been ok if the episode ended like that.
I sincerely hope LSG and OSY can work on a project again together in the near future (with better story writers)

OYS and LSG moved my cold dead heart with their chemistry ... I honestly never feel anything when I watch a couple in a kdrama but this is one of the few(or only?) times I’ve actually cried more than once. lmao
I was was a bit upset at the ep 20 preview but I’ll still keep my fingers crossed for a good ending...otherwise I’ll need to buy a new phone tomorrow because I’ll throw mine across the room. :’)

For the love of god, stop trying to validate yourself Emma. It’s clear to me, and many others here that you just don’t like the female character. You need to stop and take a step outside if you think a woman taking the initiative to kiss a guy is immoral. If you were trying to better explain your concerns you sure did a richard simmons job at it, and best not to post at all since all your posts have been trolling whether you think so or not.

Have you been paying attention to the drama? The bracelet didn’t control his brain, and he wasn’t some mind controlled robot at any point of the story.
If you are bringing up SM kissing him, why aren’t you saying anything about OG’s jealousy kiss then? It’s pretty much the same thing by your standards. ... but anyway I won’t reply to this anymore.
